Intermission - Moment of Peace

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

It was night, and the Mane Six were in their new lighthouse, which they had dubbed the "Crystal Brighthouse." They were in the Crystal Room, watching the stars on the balcony. Well, most of them were watching stars. Zipp, on the other hand, was buried in a book.

"Hey, Zipp! Check out the stars!" Pipp said, pointing to a constellation strangely shaped like her cutie mark. "It's my cutie mark! Is this a coincidence or what?!"

Zipp slammed the book shut as he groaned. "Pipp, I'm trying to figure this mystery out!" Zipp stood up and started pacing. "I mean, who was this evil alicorn of fire? Is she related to Midnight? Why did we shoot rainbow lasers? Are we connected to the Crystals?" At that last word, he looked at the Crystals floating in its place.

"Zipp, Zipp," Sunny said. "I already told you, Starlight said that we were the "ponies of prophecy," that must be it. Twilight Sparkle and her friends shot magic lasers."

Zipp groaned as he faced Sunny. "Yeah, but they had magic, we didn't! During the fight, the only source of magic out there was you and the crystals! So it would be understandable if only you shot rainbow lasers, but why us too? Is it because we're in a prophecy? Or did we always have magic?"

Sprout snorted. "Didn't Starlight tell Sunny that Twilight put all of the pony magic in those crystals?" Sprout asked. "I don't think we had magic, Zipp, but we certainly do now!"

"Yeah!" Izzy said. "I mean, look what I can do!" Izzy's horn glowed in a purple aura as a rock was lifted into the air. Though, it was only in the air for a second as it dropped back onto the ground. "Well, that was something!" Izzy said, humming a small tune.

"Zipp, I think you're making this more complicated than it needs to be," Hitch said. "And if it's coming from me, you know it's serious."

Zipp sighed as he slumped onto the floor next to Sunny. "You're probably right, but that still raises one question. What is Midnight's endgame? We need to find out what it is so we can prepare for a future attack!"

"If Midnight didn't want magic to return, that means it was important to her evil plan, right?" Izzy asked. "So, if you think about it, we stopped her by bringing back magic!"

"Hopefully, you're right, Izzy." Zipp hopefully said before he realized something. "Guys, you remember those three swirling horses in the sky? Y'know, the horses that came after Sprout jinxed us all?"

Sprout groaned. "Stop reminding me about that, it was an accident!"

"No! I didn't mean that! Well, technically I did... ugh, I'm getting off track!" Zipp said, sitting up straight. "So, as I was about to say, when we shot a rainbow laser into the sky, they just... disappeared. Where did they go? What were they?"

Sunny shrugged as she sat up straight. "I'm not sure, but I don't think they're our friends," Sunny said. "If we have time, we should go back to the library. Maybe there's something about those horses or Midnight."

"Maybe," Hitch said before a thought occurred to him. "Zipp, Pipp, what happened to that... Captain Horizontally? Didn't he try to start a war, what happened to him?"

"Captain Horizon," Pipp corrected. "Me and Zipp didn't hear much, but we did hear that he ran away. Mom's going to be reappointed as Queen, and her first order is to find Horizon."

"That's going to be hard," Izzy said. "I mean, he could be anywhere! Who knows if he's even in Equestria anymore? Shouldn't we help find him?"

"Of course!" Sunny said. "But, that's something for another day, Izzy. For now, let's just enjoy a moment of peace."

"No, no, NO!"

In a cave, Midnight's horn was glowing a bright magenta as she started scorching the walls in pure, unrestrained fury. "My plan was perfect!" Midnight said, shooting a beam at a rock which broke into small pieces. "How were they able to bring back magic?! How!?"

"It's the basic movie plot," Twilight shrugged, flying next to Midnight. "Good guys beat bad guys, light beats dark, nice beats mean..."

"We're not in a movie, Sparkle!" Midnight retorted. "Why couldn't things go right this time?! They always go right for you! You stopped a pony from breaking the timeline with friendship! Friendship!"

"Hey!" Twilight said, trying to speak up before closing her mouth. "Eh, it's not like you're wrong. A good speech can do wonders! I mean, I befriended Starlight, who was inches away from ripping a scroll with just a speech."

"Spare me your speech," Midnight said. "I'll just have to think of a better plan, one that those diet Elements can't foil! Maybe having magic back isn't so bad, I guess. Granted, it would make things much easier if I was the only one with it."

"Ugh," Twilight muttered. "I'm going to go to bed, see you in the morning." Twilight said, lying her translucent body on the rocky floor. "How can I feel the rocks, but other ponies can't see me?"

Midnight scoffed. "Like I know. I'll go to bed as well, I've got nothing better to do anyways." Midnight's horn lit up, and in seconds, a bed spawned in front of her. Midnight yawned as she lied onto the bed.

Once Twilight was sure she was asleep, she floated upwards as she gazed into the night sky. "Oh, Sunny, you have to beat her, you just have to." Twilight said. Her moment was broken as Midnight started snoring really loud.

Author's Note

Sorry this one is too short, but, it's an intermission chapter, so what do you expect? Anyways, I will be taking a break from this fanfic to focus on my other one, the one I mentioned in Chapter Nine, or was it Ten? Never mind, see you soon... probably. Also, here's the link to the story I was talking about.

EThe Mane 12 Adventures: Season 1

In another universe, Generation 4 and Generation 5 were merged. What would happen to the story?
