Equestria Girls: The Burger of Doom!
Chapter 2: Recipe for Disaster
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe cafeteria at Canterlot High was abuzz with excitement. All eyes were on the lunch line, where the cafeteria staff had just added Sci-Twi's new creation: the "Rainbow Delight Burger." The burger was a masterpiece—an electric blue bun with a vibrant rainbow-colored patty, and toppings that shimmered with hues no one thought possible for food.
Pinkie Pie was the first to try it, naturally.
"Oh my gosh! Look at my tongue!" Pinkie exclaimed, pulling out her phone to snap a selfie with her rainbow-streaked tongue sticking out. "It’s so colorful! It's like I'm a walking party!"
Fluttershy, sitting beside her, smiled shyly as she admired her own reflection in her phone’s camera. "I have to admit," she said softly, "it's... actually kind of pretty. I've never seen food do something like this."
Rarity and Sweetie Belle were already brainstorming.
"A fashion line based on this burger's aesthetics? Darling, I can see it now! 'Prismatic Elegance'—a whole collection inspired by these vibrant hues," Rarity declared, eyes gleaming with creative excitement.
Sweetie Belle, nibbling on her own burger, nodded eagerly. "We could even do a line of accessories! Imagine rainbow handbags and hats!"
Over at another table, Applejack and Apple Bloom were finishing their burgers and chatting between bites.
"Ya know," Applejack said, licking her rainbow-tinted lips, "if we could grow apples that look like this, we'd be the talk of Sweet Apple Acres for sure!"
Apple Bloom, her tongue matching her sister's, giggled. "Do ya think Granny Smith would let us experiment with paintin' the apples?"
Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash were inhaling their burgers, hardly stopping for breath between bites.
"This is awesome," Scootaloo said, her voice muffled by a mouthful of rainbow-colored goodness.
Rainbow Dash smirked. "Right? It’s like eating awesomeness in burger form! And the blue bun? Totally my style!"
Diamond Tiara, sitting at the edge of the cafeteria with Silver Spoon, glared at her tray.
"This burger might have pretty colors, but there’s no way it can outshine me," she huffed, her chin held high.
Silver Spoon gave her a sly smile. "Well, you bought it, didn’t you?"
Diamond Tiara rolled her eyes but took a delicate bite. As soon as she swallowed, her tongue, too, turned a prismatic array of colors. She stared at her reflection in her phone, her expression flickering with surprise before quickly turning to indifference.
"It’s fine," she said flatly. "But it still doesn’t compare to my shine."
At a nearby table, Sunset Shimmer watched the chaos unfold with a frown. She had her own packed lunch in front of her, a simple sandwich and apple, untouched. Her eyes were locked on the students as they marveled at their rainbow tongues. Sunset couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
Finally, she stood up and made her way over to where Sci-Twi was sitting, blissfully enjoying her own burger. Sunset crossed her arms as she approached.
"Twilight, we need to talk," Sunset said, her tone serious.
Sci-Twi looked up, blinking through her glasses. "What's up, Sunset?"
Sunset hesitated for a moment, glancing around the cafeteria before lowering her voice. "I think something’s wrong with your burger. Look at everyone. Their tongues are turning rainbow colors. What if this is a side effect of some kind of magical residue? What if it gets worse?"
Sci-Twi waved a hand dismissively. "Oh, Sunset, you're being paranoid. I ate one of these yesterday when I tested the recipe, and nothing happened to me."
Sunset raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "Nothing happened? You don’t find it strange that food is making people’s tongues change color?"
Twilight laughed lightly. "It’s just food coloring. I checked all the ingredients; they’re totally safe. And besides, the colors are fun! Look how much everyone’s enjoying it."
Sunset sighed, glancing around once more. The students were all still smiling and laughing, their brightly-colored tongues on full display. Still, she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling gnawing at her.
"I don’t know, Twilight... I just have a bad feeling about this," Sunset muttered, rubbing the back of her neck.
Twilight smiled reassuringly. "Don’t worry, Sunset. I promise you, everything’s fine. Just relax and have a burger!"
Sunset’s eyes lingered on the tray of Rainbow Delight Burgers for a moment before she shook her head. "I’ll stick with my sandwich, thanks."
As the lunch period continued, the cafeteria buzzed with energy, laughter, and rainbows. But Sunset couldn’t shake the sense that something else was coming, something no one was prepared for.
Sci-Twi had just polished off her burger with the kind of satisfaction that only a well-deserved meal could bring. As she wiped her mouth, she let out a small, innocent burp.
"Excuse me," she giggled, adjusting her glasses, "It’s perfectly normal to burp after eating. It’s just the body’s natural reaction."
Sunset Shimmer chuckled and shrugged, but something about Twilight’s burps was... off. Sci-Twi let out another burp, louder this time, then another one, even stronger. Her body seemed to tense up with each one, her face flushing. The third burp made the entire table shake.
"Uh... you okay there, Twilight?" Sunset asked, her voice edged with concern.
"I... I think so," Twilight said, although she didn't sound as certain anymore. She shifted in her seat, frowning. "It's probably just... indigestion?"
Suddenly, Sunset noticed something strange on Twilight’s arm—small, shiny flecks that seemed to appear out of nowhere. She squinted. "Are those... sesame seeds?"
Before either of them could process what was happening, Twilight let out a sudden yelp. Her head inflated like a balloon, her hair twisting and morphing, and to Sunset’s absolute horror, her head transformed into a soft, blue-tinted hamburger bun.
"Twilight!" Sunset shouted, scrambling backward in her chair.
Twilight groaned as her body started to shift in disturbing ways. From her thighs, something unnatural emerged—a rainbow-colored patty bulging from her skin, complete with layers of tomato and lettuce sprouting from the sides. Her limbs stretched unnaturally, her arms and legs shrinking into the growing monstrosity of her body. In a matter of moments, her arms and legs were sucked into the patty.
Sunset’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched the transformation unfold. "This... this can’t be real."
Twilight’s body seemed to shudder, the layers of lettuce and tomato squishing and expanding, her lower body now a blue hamburger bun. Then, with an audible pop, her limbs shot back out, but they were no longer human. They had morphed into large talons, poking grotesquely out from the sides of her hamburger-like body.
Twilight—now a towering, grotesque walking burger—let out a deep, uncomfortable groan, her voice muffled beneath the layers of a bun. "S-Sunset... I don’t feel so good…"
Sunset staggered back, struggling to process what she was seeing. "Twilight... what... what happened to you?"
Before Twilight could respond, a chorus of groaning echoed from across the room. Sunset’s eyes darted around to see the rest of their friends, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, the CMCs, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon clutching their stomachs. Their faces were pale, and they doubled over in pain.
Pinkie Pie, always full of energy, now looked like she was ready to collapse. "Ugh... my stomach... something's wrong!"
Fluttershy whimpered, trying to hold herself upright. "I... I feel so sick…"
Rarity, ever so concerned with her appearance, had a look of sheer horror on her face. "Darling, this can’t be happening... Not to my figure!"
Rainbow Dash, normally full of bravado, grimaced as she stumbled. "I think... something's really wrong with that food we ate..."
Applejack fell to the ground and complained. "Uh, Rainbow. I think there is something wrong with that burger!"
"What is happening?!" The CMCs groaned in unison.
"This is so not how I should be treated," Diamond complained as she felt something grow in her stomach and burps loudly. "This is so disgusting!"
"You're telling me!" Silver Spoon replied.
Sunset's heart raced. "No... it can’t be... Did everyone eat the same thing?"
The room was now filled with a cacophony of groans, stomachs growling angrily as their friends began to bend over in pain. Twilight, now a monstrous walking burger, loomed over Sunset, her once-scholarly voice twisted into a desperate moan.
"Sunset, help us..." Twilight managed to croak, her voice echoing through the burger bun that had become her head.
Sunset’s mind raced, struggling to think of a solution, a reason—anything to make sense of the madness unfolding around her. Why had Twilight transformed? What was happening to their friends? And, most importantly, how could she stop it?
She took a deep breath, trying to steel herself. "Hold on, everyone. We’ll figure this out. I promise."
But as her friends’ groans grew louder, Sunset couldn’t help but wonder if they were already too late.
"Whoa, Nelly! My head's turnin' into a… bun?! What in tarnation!" Applejack shouted, clutching her head in pain as she burped uncontrollably. “Ugh, excuse me, y’all! Is it just me or am I startin' to smell like fries?”
"Big sis, your head's not the only thing! Mine's… puffin’ up too!" Apple Bloom agreed as she burped as well. "Why can’t I stop burpin'?!"
"Oh no, my fingers! They’re… talons! Oh dear…" Fluttershy cried as she watched her fingers grow into talons. "Sorry, I don’t know what’s happening…"
"Rarity, do you feel that? Something’s… coming out of my thighs!" said Sweetie Belle, feeling the patty growing out of her thigh and burps. "What are we turning into?!"
This is… this is disgusting! My perfect legs, turning into greasy patties?! And these burps… how unsophisticated!" Rarity cried as she watched the patty emerge and burped dramatically. "Ugh! I’ve never felt so… greasy!"
"This is kinda fun! A bun for pants? Greasy goodness!" Pinkie Pie laughed, giggling happily despite the situation. "But why do I feel like a walking fast-food order?" she burped.
"Oh man, this is freaky. Look at me! I’m growing into some kinda burger monster!" Rainbow Dash shouted as she felt her body transform. "Ugh! My insides are turning to grease!"
"Are we really becoming burger zombies? This is wild!" Scootaloo shouted as she burped and wiped the grease off her chin. "Rainbow Dash, you’re literally leaking!"
"What… what is happening to my legs?! Why are they turning into… talons?" Diamond panicked, feeling her legs growing longer and her toes sharpening. "And this grease, it’s everywhere!"
"Diamond Tiara, we’re turning into… something—but it’s not good! These burps won’t stop!" Silver Spoon yelled, gasping as her legs changed. "And the grease! Ugh!"
All the students looked at each other, their bodies growing into burger-zombie forms, with grease pooling at their feet. The transformation is bizarre, chaotic, and accompanied by greasy burps, leaving them horrified and confused. Sunset was right! There is something wrong indeed!
