Adventure at Canterlot High
Omake 1: Let ’er riff
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTristen was visiting the mall's instrument to do some browsing around, and he was currently playing a mandolin while singing a song he remembers from his world.
♫Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.
He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Robin.
His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils raped
And his bottom burnt off
And his penis-♫
Tristen stops his tune upon hearing a chuckle, making him look over to see Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie, and Rainbow.
Rainbow, Applejack, and Rarity were doing their best from laughing, but Pinkie was just busting a gut.
“Hey there ladies.” Tristen rests the mandolin in his lap. “What brings you guys here?”
“We're here so Rainbow Dash can get a new guitar.” Rarity said before looking over at the aforementioned rainbow haired girl. “Though, I simply don't understand why you can't just play the guitar you have.” Rainbow answered that by opening up her guitar case to reveal her damaged guitar.
“Oh. That's why.” Tristen replied.
“So, whatcha doin here anyway?” Applejack asked Tristen. “Never knew you were a music lover.”
Tristen smiled. “I jam out every now and then. Plus, this place is a good way to just unwind and get away from the noise at school, ya know?”
“Makes sense.” Rainbow replied.
“How about this one?” Pinke asked holding a purple striped guitar.
“No.” Rainbow replied as Pinkie said, holding a banjo.
“No.” Rainbow replied again as Pinkie then brought up a tuba.
“That's not even a stringed instrument.” Tristen said with a deadpan look before looking at Rainbow. “Any idea on what you're looking for in particular?”
“That's the problem! I need something that looks as awesome as I'm gonna make it sound.” Rainbow replied in a somewhat boastful manner.
“I see.” Tristen nods in understanding. “So you're looking for one of the flashier kinds.”
Rainbow Dash looks around, hoping to find the guitar to suit her needs. But when it didn't take long for her to find a guitar that fits the bill.
Rainbow was about to grab the instrument, but someone else also had their eyes on the instrument.
It was a girl with a light grayish cornflower blue complexion, moderate purple eyes, and hair that cornflower blue with very pale cornflower blue streaks. As for what she wore, she wore an azure zip up hoodie with a star on both sleeve, a purple skirt a turquoise swirl and a small yellow star, deep cornflower blue knee high socks, a pair of purple and azure platform shoes with turquoise straps, and a yellow and purple star hair clip.
This was Trixie Lulamoon, a student of Canterlot High who is both a magician and even more egotistical than Rainbow Dash.
Rainbow and Trixie glare at one another as they both hold onto the instrument. “Hands off my guitar, Trixie!”
“I touched it first, Rainbow Dash!” Trixie declared.
Tristen groaned and rolled his eyes in response to this. “And just like that, my day of peace is officially ruined.”
Trixie noticed Tristen, her glare intensified. “Oh great. You're here too.”
“How's it hangin’ bitch?” Tristen asked flatly. “I'd say it's nice to see you, but I would be lying out of my ass?”
Applejack looks at Tristen in a surprised manner. “You’ve met Trixie?”
“Unfortunately, yes.” Tristen replied with a sigh. “One mishap at Sugarcube Corner resulted in a screaming match from this banshee.” Tristen looks back at Trixie. “What are you even doing here, Lulanoon? Shouldn't you be boring kids to tears with your shitty magic shows?”
Trixie growled in response to the insult, but she managed to keep her cool. “If you must know, I'm here to purchase an instrument for the upcoming musical showcase.” Trixie returns her attention to Rainbow. “And I was about to do just that when a certain Rainbow Dash here swooped in.”
“Sounds to me like this is a makin' for a nice, friendly competition.” Applejack chimed in.
The word “competition” suddenly gave Rainbow an idea. “All right! Let's see who plays best!”
Trixie had a smirk, indicating she was game. “A shred-off?”
“Shred on.” Rainbow declared.
Pinkie handed Rainbow a guitar as Trixie grabbed her own, and moments later, both stunned with absolute skill in an attempt to outplay the other. As this occurred, Rainbow suddenly gain her pony ears, her wings, and her longer ponytail just like at the Fall Formal.
Tristen smirked while Trixie was absolutely shocked at this. And with a few riffs, Rainbow managed to beat Trixie in by sending a blast of rainbow color sound waves.
“Talk about “blown away”.” Tristen said, impressed with the display.
"Check me out!" Rainbow said as the store clerk hands Rainbow the double-necked guitar. But Rainbow hesitates as she looked at the one she was playing, which was now tricked out probably due to her residual magic, "Uhh...she can have it.” Rainbow said to Trixie before looking to her guitar. “I think this is the one that really speaks to me.”
Trixie was shocked at first, but she smiled victoriously as she grabbed the double-necked guitar from the store clerk. "The Great and Powerful Trixie always wins in the end!!"
“I wouldn't say that, Lulanoon.” Tristen replied, earning Trixie’s attention. “I think your big win just became your big loss. May wanna check the price tag.”
Trixie furrowed an eyebrow as she did so. And her eyes practically bugged out of her head when she saw the hefty price. “Twelve-thousand dollars?! You'll pay for this, Rainbow Dash!”
“No, silly!” Pinkie replied. “If you want it, you have to pay for it!"
“My advice, Trixie?” Tristen said as he put up the mandolin he was stunning. “Stick with your lame ass magic shows.” Tristen makes his way out of the store while Trixie growls angrily at him.
