Prologue part 1: the spell
The sound of a bell ringing sounds through the classroom.
“Alright everyone, pack up for the day and remember your homework for next week!” The teacher, Miss Cheerilee, spoke with a kind smile as she began to pack up her desk and laptop.
All the students in the classroom began to pack up their things. A female with orange and red hair doing the same. Sunset yawned as she smiled and got up from her seat. She stretched a bit before beginning to pick up her stuff. This was the last class of the day so right now she wanted to go see her friends before leaving.
As sunset began to walk down the hall to the front of the school so that she could wait for her friends, she felt her handbag vibrate as an orange glow emanated from within. “Hm? I wonder what Twilight wants.” Sunset mumbles to herself as she opens her handbag and takes out a book with the image of a yellow and orange sun on the front of it, the book vibrating and glowing orange.
Flipping through the pages She soon saw words forming on the blank paper. “Sunset! I need your help. It is very important!” Sunset eyes widened as she read The sentence. ‘As my studies have continued I have found lots of magic spells within the forbidden archives. And I have found a spell that I can't make heads or tails of.’
Sunset hums in thought before writing in the book. ‘Sure, I can help, what's the spell that's alluding to your understanding?’
‘The spell I am studying is named “FAMILIAR FACES.” I will be honest, the book I am reading the spell from is very old and damaged. A few pages from the book turned to dust the moment I opened the book.’ Twilight wrote warning Sunset of the spell she is studying from.
“Hm, Familiar Faces huh?” Sunset hums out loud before writing back in her book. ‘interesting, what have you been able to figure out so far?’
‘It's a spell about summoning something.’ “That's all that Twilight wrote. It must be in bad condition if that's all she has.” sunset mumbled to herself before thinking for a few minutes.
‘Any ideas on what to do with the spell?’ Sunset writes into the book, awaiting a reply.
‘No idea. Maybe it shows a projection of a face? Like a family member or friend? Or maybe showing a ponies Face we haven't Seen in a long time,’ Twilight wrote.
‘hm, anything on how to perform the spell?’ Sunset writes as she watches a few students leaving the school
‘To perform the spell a few items are needed. Blood red candles, red paint, the room must be completely dark, and the ambient magic surrounding the area must be at a low level for the spell to activate.’
“Huh, hm, low ambient magic…” sunset mumbled to herself in thought as she wrote in her journal. ‘The magic on this side of the mirror is a lot less densely packed than it is in Equestria, I could try casting it here with a friend of ours(Sci-Twi), we both know she needs more opportunities to get used to magic…’
‘Are you sure about that? From the last time you wrote…she kinda…’ Sunset sighs before writing in her journal.
‘I know Twilight, I know, but I think this could really help her get used to magic… she's been having a hard time after the friendship games.’ Sunset explained as she looked back at the school, smiling as she saw her friends.
As sunset wrote the words more thoughts flooded her mind. Knowing that Sci-twi was not having an easy time adjusting. First, transferring to a new school, learning how to make friends, getting out of her room…getting out of her library… getting out of her lab…getting used to Spike being able to talk now…
Sunset shakes her head as she smiles and walks over to her friends. Twilight was currently at her locker putting away a few things and getting ready to go home. sci-twi let out a sigh as she shakes her head.
“Hey Twi, you alright?” Sunset asked as she placed a hand on Twilight's shoulder.
Sci-twi yelped before Calming down and noticing who it was, “Oh hey sunset! Sorry I have just been very tired. With me transfering and learning that magic exists.”
“And having a new talking dog!” Spike said happily from inside Twilight's bookbag.
Sunset nods before facing Twilight. “Heh, I'd bet so, say, why don't you come by my place tonight, I got a letter from the other you about a spell that would honestly be safer to use here due to one of the requirements needed for it.” Sunset asks with a small smile on her face.
Sci-twi looked a little uncomfortable, “I don't know I kinda have a lot on my plate right now. I still have a few things to take care of.”
“C'mon Twilight, you haven't been able to relax since we got here! Besides, Sunset has great snacks.” Spike spoke with a sagely nod, which just looked cute on the small dog.
“Spikes right! You need some time to relax, Twilight.” Sunset smiled as she puts a hand on Sci-twi shoulders.
“...I.. I don't know…um…ok, tonight?” Twilight hesitantly spoke with a weak smile.
“yay!” Both spike and sunset said in uneasiness as it was Friday. “This will be a great sleepover!”
“Sleepover….haven't had one of those in a while…” Twilight mumbles quietly to herself, reminiscing about her times with her old babysitter.
“So what time works for you? 7 or 8?” Sunset asked as they would have the sleepover at her home.
“I should be able to make it at 7.” Twilight answered with a smile. “Guess I'll see you then?”
“Ya! But it will just be you, me, and Spike alright.” She said as she only Wanted the small group to perform this spell.
“Alright. We'll see you at 7!” Twilight exclaimed as she picked Spike up into her arms as she began to walk down the road while waving to Sunset.
Sunset waved back with a smile and rushed home to get everything ready for the long night ahead.
roughly seven hours later
“Hm, I should have everything set up, it's a good thing Princess Twilight was so thorough in the instructions on setting up the spell, now all that's needed is the magic signature of the summoner.” Sunset hummed to herself as she heard her doorbell ring.
There was a knock at sunsets door and outside the small house was Sci-twi Waiting and ready having a backpack full of stuff for the sleepover.
“Right on time Twilight!” Sunset exclaims with a wide smile as she lets her friend into her house.
Sci-twi Stepped inside as she began to look around. “Nice place.”
“Thanks, let's head upstairs, we can focus on… this, later in the night.” Sunset spoke, motioning to the set up in the living room.
Sci-twi looked a little weirded out by all the stuff In the living room. “Umm…are you planning to do some magic later?”
“.......maybe.” Sunset replies with an awkward side glance as she walks Twilight upstairs.
“Is it…dark magic…” Sci-twi worried as she thought the spell looked like a summoning circle.
“....the other you doesn't think so… I think? We'll be fine.” Sunset spoke with a shrug as the two of them arrived upstairs, revealing Sunsets bedroom decorated for a Sleepover.
Spike soon jumped out of the Sci-Twi bag as he began to run around the room, “nice Place!” He said happily running under the sunset's bed.
“Thanks, there's an area over there where you can play with Ray.” Sunset smiles as she points to the left corner of the room, where her pet Gecko Ray lays peacefully.
Spike rushed over to the gecko. The gecko seemed to not want to be bothered as it stayed on the ground with its eyes closed.
Sunset smiles at the two before turning to Twilight. “So, what do you want to do first?”
