Gossip Spreads Quick
I do this every week
Previous Chapter“These are from the mayor. She needs your sign off,” Lily dropped a pile of papers on Sunset’s desk as the orange unicorn groaned.
“Ugh fuck me and my life,” Sunset complained as she overlooked a few papers on top as she paused her writing. “It can wait until after my letter to Princess Celestia.”
“Come again?”
“I do this every week. It’s an order of hers. I write her a letter every week when I learn something about friendship,” Sunset explained as she dipped her quill in ink to resume writing. “Thanks Lily. You can head on out if you want.”
“Thanks. I’ll be in tomorrow,” Lily gave a lazy wave as she trotted past Silverspeed standing inside the room with her spear and her expression that Veronica and Lily had come to call her “Royal Guard Face”.
“Sounds good.”
Silverspeed opened the door and waited till Lily left before shutting it softly, resting her spear against the wall.
“Whatcha sending the Princess?” Silverspeed asked curiously and cracked her neck.
“A letter,” Sunset answered and smirked at Silverspeed.
“Very funny.”
“Good, I’m glad you thought so. Anyway, here. You can read the rough draft.” Silverspeed leaned over the desk and started to read out loud.
“Dear Princess Celestia,
My friends learned to not judge a book by it’s cover this week. Or more specifically, a pony by their stripes. Somepony may look unusual, or funny, or scary. But you have to look past that and learn who they are inside. Zecora and Roseluck have hit it off pretty well recently this week, I’m happy to report. The town has widely accepted her as well. I’m requesting we do more for said cases like this in the other towns. Zecora most likely isn’t the only zebra or other type of creature facing distrust for simply looking or talking different.
Your student, Sunset Shimmer. Not bad.”
“I know. I’ll be back in an hour. I have a meeting with a certain individual,” Sunset scowled and stood up. “Don’t wait for me.”
“I understand.”
Spoiled Rich sat in her office in the family store, reading a novel as somepony knocked against the door. Her trademark scowl deepened as she recognized the unicorn leaning against the door frame.
“What do you want?” Spoiled spat out and Sunset chuckled dryly.
“To congratulate you. It’s not often I find somepony who’s as good as me at this game. I rarely get bested and yet, you managed,” Sunset admitted and stepped inside the room. “Admitting my losses isn’t beneath me.”
“Hmph. I have no clue what you’re referring to,” Spoiled shot back and Sunset frowned at her.
“Yes, you do. It may not be today, but I’m coming for you. And I always get what I want. Not always right away, mind you, but I always win in the end. You’re just a stepping stone to fixing Equestria. I will make an example out of you. That’s a promise,” Sunset promised and narrowed her eyes.
“Running more than one business isn’t illegal, my dear,” Spoiled Rich chuckled and stood up to face Sunset. “This is a free country, after all.”
“Not for you. Not for much longer,” Sunset promised and tapped her hoof against Spoileds chest. “This isn’t over.”
“We will see.”
“Yes, we will,” Sunset agreed readily as she back pedaled out the room slowly. “We will.”
Sunset flicked her tail and was gone from sight.
