Why did I touch a random sword
somewhere in the human world  
Rex stood alone in his room. He was exhausted. He had justed finished his shift at the crappy restaurant he worked for. His clothes reaked of cheap tomato sauce. He had a sour expression on his face. His stubbled chin still had pieces of oregano stuck to it. His black hair once tied up now hung loosely around his shoulders.
Rex sat down on his bed enjoying the comfy mattress. But his expression soon returned to a grimace. He remembered how earlier in the day a rude jackass had throw his plate of spaghetti at him. To make it worst apparently it was because the entitled man didn't get served faster. Even though rex was the only waiter on shift as his coworkers called in sick. A nasty case of the flu.
He could only take in a breath as he laid his hands as found their way to his apron. He quickly threw it to the ground before grabing his normal clothes. A pair a jeans and a black t-shirt. He took a quick glace to himself using his phone as a mirrior. "Not my nicest outfit but sure beats pasta stains."
He sighed. Rex debated on what to do next. Sure he could go back out and hit up a local bar but his funds were tight. He could try hitting up Tinder. Perhaps he would get lucky. But that thought was quickly pushed aside. Rex was many things, lucky was not one of them.
Rex poundered away letting his mind race away untill. 'Ding dong' The sound of his door bell brought him back to reality. He started making his way to his front door grabbing his yellow hoodie on the way. When he opened the door he saw nothing. Only the snow covered ground.
Rex felt uneasy. The dead quiet of night the quiet falling snow. There weren't even any cars passing by. He quickly stepped away from the door slaming it shut. He scoffed. "Probably just some kids playing a stupid prank." He turned walking back to his room.
But when he returned to his room something felt off. He blinked several times rubbing his eyes. But when he looked back it was still there. A sword perfectly balancing on its tip stood in the middle of his room. He was obviously confused by the object. His windows were closed and locked. There shouldn't be any way for it to have entered.
But here it was defying the laws of gravity. He was about to run out as fast as possible. He had seen enough movies to not touch strange an probably cursed swords. But as he turned to leave something drew him back. A feeling washed over him like a stream of water. No it was stronger it was a pull like the sword was some sort of magnet pulling him in. He reached forward as he moved closer. His finger reached out wrapping around the hilt of the blade.
The blade finally moved in his grip. As he held up the blade he felt something. Like electricity in his hand. It wasn't painfull at first . In fact it felt quite nice, powerfull even. But then he looked into the blade. He saw his reflection. His eyes once a hazel brown were a vibrant yellow. A golden hue that shocked him.
He was shocked an unsure of what was happening. He tryed to drop the sword but it didn't move. His grip around the blade only tightens as he yells out. Pain filled his arm as lighting swirled around the sword. He frantically waved the blade around cutting several pieces of furniture. He then slashes the wooden floor beneath him. Instead of normal gash in the wooden ground a tear in reality started to form. The tear in reality turned into a swirling rainbow vertex. By the time rex saw it was to late.
He screamed attempting to grab whatever he could but it wasnt enough. " Fuck! Fuck! Why did i have to touch a stupid random sword!" He then found himself falling light fadeing from his veiw was he started to pass out.
meanwhile in ponyville  
Twilight sparkle quick ran around her library. A purple glow swirled around her horn as she levitated several scrolls into her bag. Her freinds stood around her the firmilar main 6 an her baby dragon companion spike.
They watched her frenzy with concern unsure of why they were called. Applejack step forward blocking the purple alicorn for a momment. "Calm down suger cube! Can ya tell us why you called? "
Twilight stood still for a second before taking a quick breath. "Im sorry girls just give me a sec- oh here!" The alicorn then brought a scroll setting it down on the table for everyone to see. "Ok so I got a message from the princesses. They said they were summoning a hero of some sorts to help defend equestria....I'm not really sure from what but this map should tell us where he appears."
As she grabbed a few more scrolls the ponies looked amoung themselves. Fluttershy looked panicked along with rairty. What possible thret could require summon a hero other then themselves. Rainbow dash looked excited as well as pinkie. Rainbow was excited for a new adventure while pinkie was excited to meet a new freind. Spike looking at the map.
Spike's eyes opened wide."uh twilight?" The young dragon asked. His voice filled with a sense of worry. " yes spike what is it?." Spike gulped as he asked. "Uh how far away is he post to summon from?"
Twilight raised her eyebrow. " Uh I assume not to far away. The letter said that the relic she sent was supposed to bring him to us. A mark on the map will appear in the shape of a blade were he appears."
Spike nervously pointed at the map. "Uh twi hes not near us hes.....in the dragons lands." True to his word a mark in the shape of a small sword appeared over the map in a rocky an volcanic area. Twi eyes widen. While dragons were allies with ponies there no telling what type of species was summoned. If the hero was a changling or a even griffin there could be an incident.
The ponies around her were all silent. No one dare said a word. Not untill twilight spoke herself. "Oh shit!"

Ponyville castle one day later. Early In the morning.   
Rex was groaning as a duster flew in his face. He angrily swatted the cleaning item away as a blue arua faded from it. Next to him was rairty who was eagerly cleaning up the castle.
Twilight was also getting ready nearby. The alicorn had practically grabbed every single book related to humans , weapons, and ancient history. Admittedly the ancient history books took up most of the table. The other girl looked up at the pile of books with awe. Even for Twilight this amount of books was unexpected. Did she seriously think the princesses needed all of them?
Regardless of that fact Twilight was scurrying around trying to set up. She repeatedly bumped into rex. "Hey Twilight?" She ignored him. Then she pushed him aside quickly to grab another book. "Twi!" she of course ignored him again as she was far to lost in thought. He sighed before reaching down an picking the mare up with both hands.
She squirmed for a moment acting similar to a dog that didn't enjoy getting grabbed. With less biting. Eventually she calmed down an pouted in her elevated position. Sure she could probably teliport out of his girp but she was to upset to think. "Rex! Put me down they could be here any second! Also your gonna rip your bandages!"
He did not put her down instead he pulled her closer to meet his eyes. "Calm the fuck down. Your also a princess. You need to chill." He spoke slowly and clearly. She slowly nodded in response. "Good. You gotta stop overreacting."
The look twilight gave him could put fluttershys to shame." Im not overeacting ! This could be a war meeting for all we know! There's no way the princesses haven't heard about the attack!" The girl all got a shiver down their spines. Rex rolled his eyes.
"I highly doubt that. They can teliport right so they would've been here the same day most likely right?" Twilight nodded. "Plus you've allready mentioned to me they would so up at some point. They probably just wanna meet me for uh..... judging probably."  
Twilight was about to retort when rex heard a strange sound behind him.
"Well thats not how I would've put it but I suppose you could call it that." He turned to see the voice that spoke. Only to be faced with two very tall horses. Well alicorns.  
The who spoke was the taller of the two. A majestic white coat with a stunning rainbow main that seemed almost ethereal. Her voice could only be described as motherly. She stood just a few inches taller then himself
Next to her was another alicorn who while taller then the other ponys was still shorter then himself. Not by alot. She had a dark blue coat with a misty star filled mane. She also was rubbing her head. The girl looked agitated. "A pleasure to meet you rex. Twilight has been updating me on you. I see your relationship has improved quite abit." The mare barely held in a chuckle. Both rex an twilight blushed before he quickly dropped the mare onto the ground.
Rainbow dash openly laugh while the other girl did there best not to chuckle themselves. All though they had to admit that being held by their resident human was not something they would mind. A thought that caused all of them to turn a shade. Luckily rex was not paying them any mind. "Nice to meet you your majesties." He gave them a simple greeting only for the two princess to start circling around him. Pointing things back.
"Fairly young I see mid twentys I'm guessing. Abit skinny very sour disposition." Her comments caught him off guard. Luna then lifted his shirt. Normally he would've smacked the shit out of her but he didn't for some reason. Either they were using some magic on him or he was shocked. The girls seemed to watched with intrigued as luna exposed his torso. While it was still covered in bandages most of the bruies have allready faded an enough of his skin showed for everyone to see."hmm he may be skinny but he has a decent amount of muscle here. Likely the blades doing. But we can definitely worked with this.
Fluttershy hid her face behind her mane. Clearly hiding a blush. Twilight brain seemed to short circuit. All though this was more because of the princesses then his body. Even if an eye wondered to it. Rairty full on fainted onto a sofa that appeared out of nowhere. Applejack and rainbow were simply enjoying the veiw. Pinkie last took a picture. Well it would last longer. Once rex mind catched up with him he quickly shoved his shirt down.
"Hey ever heard of personal space!" Luna rolled her eyes annoyed. Her sister chuckled signaling to luna to back off abit. Admittedly the girls kinda wish they could've seen more but kept that to themselves. Princess celestia spoke up to defend their actions.
"My apologies rex we simply needed a closer look at you. You see as the hero chosen by the sword it falls to us in this room to train you." He made a gesture to everyone in the room.
"Train me? Uh ok ill admit the girls are probably tougher then I realized but besides rainbow an applejack they dont take me as fighters." Celestia laughed abit shaking her head.
"Oh no they wont be training you to fight. They will teach you something far more valuable. But you'll see soon enough." He scoffed. Of course she not going to elaborate. What is this a fucking movie? A poorly written story?
Luna spoke up. Her voice demanding his full attention. "I shall train thee in the ways of combat! Thy shall become a powerful warrior under my teaching." He nodded noting she seem particularly pissed.
"Uh are you angry or something goth night?"  
She snarled at him. This honestly suprised everyone besides celestia. The dark mare stepped forward making him back up. Her temper clearly boiling over.
"Thys mindscape has been vexing me for over a week! Thy dreams are so chaotic I swore discord himself created you!" Her sister held out a hoof which seemed to calm the angry mare."My apologies rex. I should have kept my composure. Our training shall begin within the month or so."
He justed nodded not wanting to reopen that can of worms. Celestia then turned her attention to the girls."On other matters we must discuss the state of ponyville. The fear caused by the attack will only serve to fuel Anguish's power. We must find a way to lift the spirit of the ponies of ponyville. It should also involve Rex in some capacity to help improve his image." Rex scoffed at the last part. He saved the town along with three fillys. Yet it seems most of the town been even more weary of him.
Apparently his primal rage way of fighting along with destroying a building wasn't helping. To be fair though nobody lit any pitch forks. Also he got a basket of muffins from derpy so in his book hes winning.
The girls discussed options ranging from a book fair to an aerial stunt show. Apon being told rex can't fly rainbow dash replied with. "Thats why its a stunt show! We drop him from forty thousand feet and I catch him just before he lands!" Her idea was immediately shot down.
She pouted but rex came over and place a hand on her shoulder. "Hey to be fair If I was drunk I totally would've done it." His comment made her smile. The girls really weren't getting anywhere untill pinkies eyes shot open. "Ooo ooooo I got we could put on a huge talent show! Everyone in town can participate! Rex could be the big final show!" The idea was well received by everyone besides rex who was out voted by everyone.
"What the hell am I supposed to do I don't have any talents! None worth showing on stage!" Rairty gently patted him on the back. He only sighedvin response.  
"Darling Im sure you have plenty of things you can do! You'll do marvelous darling."
Her words didn't inspire confidence."As its been decided ponyville will throw a talent show the prize will be a secret reward decided by me and my sister." Celestia proudly stated as she an luna made Their way out."I will see you then my little ponys an my little human."
Rex just stood there speachless. But much like everything else in his life he had to such it up and make the best of his situation. He had an idea of what he could do. It was just that he didn't want to.
"Wait a second isnt my little human sound abit weird to anyone else?"  
No response.

Celestia rested alone. It had been a long day dealing with nobels. They always came around every single day to annoy her. She sighed exhausted. Today’s batch was particularly rough. One in particular was demanding an audience with her student of all things. It would seem this noble wanted her to date his son and decided to go through celestia to do it.
She growled to herself. It made no damed sense to her why he would ask her of all ponies. Twilight wasn’t even her daughter! She was her own grown ass mare. Even if she was her kin her awnser would’ve been hell no. Although she probably could’ve handled it better.
“At least the day is over. While my sister watches the night I will rest.” She smiled to herself standing from her throne. At least she was smiling up untill a guard rushed in. The guard had frantically run into the room knocking over several Podiums.
To say this was unusual was an understatement. The guards were normally much better composed yet this guard was so panicked he couldn’t speek. Celestia waited several minutes before gently placing a hoof onto him. “Please speak slowly its allright.” Her voice gave out an feeling of calm.
The guard slowly calmed standing at attention. His frantic breath slowing to a normal rhythm. “Princess Celestia Its the sword. Its awakened. The eyes.....they are back.”
As he spoke his final words he started to tremble. It was because of the way Celestia started to contort. Her gentle smile replaced with an empty stare. Her eyes showing unreadable emotion. For a minute she did not move. She not speak. It didn’t seem like she was breathing.
The guard was about to say something when she finally came to. “Tell my sister and have her inform my student. As of now we are on constant alert! GO!” Her voiced echoed across the room. He did as he was told running clear out of her sight.
Celestia then took a deep breath before storming away. She found herself soon walking down a set of stairs. She continued walking further and further down. Past the dungeons. Past the wine cellars. Past the hidden library she used to hide an drink wine in.
Soon she found herself in a large chamber. It was large enough to fit not only herself but several large boats. Yet all this room held was a single object. One that had been there for over six thousand years. A single sword sticking halfway out of the ground.
The hilt of the blade had seen better days. Where once was a beautiful tan leather had long since rotted away. Now only a few scraps of the material was left. A single red jewel on the hilts tip layed cracked. Yet despite the damage the blade itself was perfect. Even from the little that could be seen the silver metal shined. The edge still fine.
Yet it wasn’t the blade itself that drew Celestias gaze. It was its shadow. The shadow of the blade was longer then it should be. Not only that but it twisted and warped. But most unsettling of all were the glowing red eyes that dotted the shadow. Unbleaking yet unmistakable.
Celestia gulped down a breathe of air as she approached. She knew what this met. Anguish has returned. An evil she had prayed stayed dead.
“I guess its time I only hope its enough.”  
Her horn glowed brightly around the sword. Its once ruined hilt seemed to glow. Now the leather had reformed itself taking on a golden shine while the gem crack sealed shut. The blade started to rise as Celestias eyes glowed. The swords full length now exposed of 43 inches. It shined brightly in her magic.
“Go please bring us the hero we need.” She spoke softly in a whisper as the sword seemed to vibrate in response. Then the blade suddenly rocketed straight up. Smashing through layers of concrete, stone ,an metal. And through a porcelain bathtub. One in lunas private quarters. “Oops.”
Celestia sighed but quickly made her way up. The spell had been casted. Now they need to wait and watch. Hopefully the new hero in town teliported somewhere safe. And not in sight of the evil eyes.

Wait dragons?
In the dragonlands  
Far above in the sky a swirling rainbow vortex opened. It stood there only for a moment as a figure fell. Rex was unconscious as the effects of the vortex were to much for him. Still as his body droped like a bag of rock the sword never left his hand.
His eyes started to open their golden hue opening to the world. Only it wasn’t what he was expecting. He saw Rocky mountains and rough terrain,rivers of lava,and large reptilian creatures. He also now noticed the ground was rapidly approaching. He covered his face with his arms bracing for the impact.
CRASH!
The pain shot through his body as he laid face down. The air in his lungs had all rushed out on impact. But despite the fall he somehow survived. Rex extended an arm out as he took a deep breath of air.
As he stood up he felt the pain lessen. He used the sword still in hand to help himself, while he took in the landscape. “Were the fucking hell am I?? Weres my room?! How the fuck did I survive that fall?!”
He scream his questions into the sky. Yet depite his volume the empty area said nothing back. He cused to himself as he started walking. At the moment he seem to be in a large crater presumably made by himself. Only the crater was easily 20 feet wide and well over 6 foot deep. So either he doesn’t understand physics whitch he doesn’t. Or something else made the crater.
It took a minute or two to climb out due in thanks to the sword still stuck to his hand. He would have attempted to remove the blade, but rex wasn’t quite sure where he was. He’d rather have the weapon an not need it then regret it later. Once he was free he noticed something. He wasnt alone.
Right in front of him stood a tall red creature. Its had wings on its back and sharp yellow claws. A tail protruded from behind it. Rexs eyes opened in shock with no words to describe whats happening. Behind the red one were a about a dozen of other similar creatures. All though they very in both color an size. To his suprise the red one spoke.
“Huh some sort of weird monkey thing? Heh look at it it’s bucking ugly! Haha!” As the creature laughed bits of fire spewed out in small burst. Soon the others joined in as the ‘monkey’ stood there. Rex then came to a realization.
“Wait dragons? The fuck?” His tone was filled with confusion. He had read hundreds of storys of dragon as a child. Even as an adult he would watch movies or watch shows based around them. But these weren’t what he was expecting. While he stood confused garble took notice of his comment.
“Whats wrong never seen a dragon before?” His tone was filled with sarcasm. The local dragon bully also know as Garble was starting to get bored. “Ya know we dragons love roasting scare wittle monkey. And im getting hungry!” He decided to scare the strange creature to releave his boredem.
Rex took notice of the threat. His eye started to twitch as his left hand balled into a fist. Most people had either a flight or fight response when it came to fear. Unfortunately for everyone rex only had one response to garble.
“Oh fuck off! Ya over grown geko!” Rex pulled back his fist and slamed it straight into garbles snout. There was a sickening cruching noise. Garble flew back about 5 feet away, while clenching his noise. Blood spewed out leaking down his claw. Garble was at a loss for words as very few could so much as scratch a dragon much less break ones noise.
Rex was also confused. Sure it wasnt his first fight in his life. Hell hes been in more then a few scraps over the years. But he never pushed someone so far. He was almost stunned in place before garble reacted.”That Jackass broke my bucking noise! Get him!”
Rex quickly gulped as the other dragons started to approach. Claws were extended while other breathed fire from their nostrils. Rex quickly pulled his sword up. The dragons didn’t seem to care. He was really starting to hate today.
From his right a green dragon charged at him his claws extended. Rex just barely move the sword in time to block the strike. On instinct he reached out grabbing the dragon by a wing and pulled. The momentum sent the dragon tumbling down into the crater. Rex was suprise how quick he reacted. It was as if something was making him faster. Still new abilities or not they’ve got him out numbered.
While his inital reaction was to fight he wasnt dumb enough to stay. Only problem was several dragon started to charge him. “Ah fuck it! Lady luck don’t screw me now!”  
Rex charge forward right back at the dragons. As the approach one flew right at his torso. Without another word he jumped using the flying one as a spring board. Three dragons crashed into each other while rex cleard the group.
His own jaw dropped at his stunt when he landed but he had no time to think. He quickly started to run jumping over small pits of lava. The dragons gave chase. As he ran more dragons joined in likely wanting to join the apparent hunt. He proceeded to dodge and swerve through any who got in his way. He was once again suprised at his own agility but it helped the dragons weren’t to bright.
Most of the dragons took themselves out. Many flew into rocks or even each other. Rex purposely took any chance he could to Pullvault over objects. This usually met some dragon would fuck up and crash. The song ballroom blitz blared in his thoughts.
That was untill he ran into a rather large cave. When he ran in he noticed the other dragons stopped right at the entrance. Infact it seems most were trembling. Rex looked at them confused but feeling a little cocky.  
“Heh whats wrong? Let me guess your afraid of getting your asses kicked! Ha!”
Sure he was tempting fate but it just felt right. He quickly gulped when someone awnsered from behind. " Yeah they’re afraid of me!” He turned to face a blue dragon. It was about the same hight as the red dragon but its frame was slimer. It had broader hips an had an overly feminine Physique. Her voice was also more feminine and reminder him of a girl he used to know.
Unfortunately that same girl he remembered hit him with a car. He had feeling this was gonna be worse.

In the dragonlords cave.  
The blue dragoness in the cave glared at him. She wasnt happy that an armed intruder had broken into her territory, nor was she happy that every teenaged dragon seemed to be at her doorstep. Infact she was quite pissed off.
She heald what seem to be a large shinny staff with a large red crystal. Rex noticed that it looked kinda like a claw holding a gem. She slammed her staff into the ground. When she did a small rumbling could be felt across the lands. He gulped down a breath as his sword trembled in his hand. It was a primal instinct he felt deep down. This wasn't a dragon to mess with.
"I am dragonlord Ember ruler of these welps! You dare intrude into my home! You will feel my wrath!" In an instant she flew up to him grabbing him by his throat. She then slamed him into the wall before delivering a powerful punch into his gut. The force was enough to finally make him drop his sword. He spat out blood onto the floor. He was certain several rips broke as she slammed her tail into his chest. He tryed to move away but she grabbed him by his leg and threw him further into her cave.
Admittedly she didn't want him throw deeper into her home. But dieing deeper was just as good as dieing outside. She slowly started walking to him. He found himself laying in a pile of gems. Gems that have very fine edges. His back was now bleeding a lot.
"Ok that hurt! That hurt really fucking hurt!" He tryed his best to stand. He barely got onto his feet as blood covered diamonds an other jewels fall around him. "And if anyone make a blood diamond quip Im gonna be even more pissed."
He weakly made his way forward but fell to his knee. His right leg had a nasty cut. He tryed his best not to passout from the pain as the dragoness appeared. She looked down disappointed her scepter still in hand.
"Honestly I was hoping for more of a challenge. This was a pretty lame fight." She held her scepter over her head ready to strike him down. He looked up at her his life flashing before his eyes.
He wanted to say he lived a good life. That he felt accomplished. But couldn't. Up untill now all he's ever done was deal with other's people's bullshit. The annoying customer at the restaurant his last girlfriend who dumped him for another guy. The time that girl hit him with a car. He wasn't accomplished he was angry! And he was damed if some blue dragon chick was gonna be the one to do him in.
Suddenly his blade floated into the air soaring across the cave. Just as she brought down her scepter the blade flew over her shoulder right into his hand. The impact created sparks between the two weapons. With new strength he stood pushing Ember back. She look at him in shock her maw hug opened. They look each other in the eyes. She could see his rage and he saw hers.
The two combatants swung at each other with great speed. Despite his many wounds he attack with speeds matching his opponent. Ember grew frustrated with him and flared her wings. She jumped back but not before her opponent swung true. Her eyes burned with fury as her left horn fell to the ground.  
"You asshole! Ill make you regret that!"
Rex huffed a smile now on his face as he let out a weak laugh. "Do your worst you oversized blue Iguana. I ain't going down that easy!" He raised his sword in front of his face.  
She growled the specter glowing as the ground came alive before them. The ground formed into a draconic face an flew towards him. He took a breath the world around him seemingly slowing down. Lightning danced across the blade. He swung forward dashing at the deadly earth based attack.
As the dust settled the dragon head of dirt disappeared and his blade stopped just before Embers throat. The dragoness stood unmoving. She looked at him. In that moment her life was in his hands but she wouldn't back down. She would rather die with honor then close her eyes an wait for her end. But it never came.
He slowly lowered his blade laughing to himself as a purple flashed appeared just behind ember. He looked up at her a smirk on his face. "Ha you should've- " He collapsed onto the floor. He groaned in pain. Rex knew that he should've killed her. He wanted to but deep down he just didn't have it in him.
The dragoness looked at him. The strange creature that almost bested her. She shook her head unsure what to believe as she turned away. Her vision was met with a familiar face. Princess twilight. The purple alicorn was lost for words as she approached looking down at the creature. Only she knew what it really was.
She looked up to ember a worried look on her face. Ember just shrugged before looking back at rex. "So guessing your hear for this thing?" The dragonlord gestured to the human.
Twilight shyly nodded before approaching him. "I need to take him. Im not sure what crimes or actions he committed to end up like this....but I promise you'll be compensated."  
A purple arua lifted the human who was now hanging in the air.
Ember nodded slowly. She turned to leave back into her dwelling. "Just get it out of here. Its earned its life for now. I do want a proper explanation later." She then walked away into the cool darkness of her home.
Twilight sighed. The human had only been here for an hour or two at most. Yet allready hes cuased an international incident. "I really hope your nicer then you look." The poor mare wished aloud. Sadly shes in for a rocky ride.

Thats one hell of a story
Ponyville Castle guest bedroom.
Rex slowly opened his eyes after a very uncomfortable dream. He doesn't quite remember what the dream was but it felt strange. It was if his mind was changing and becoming less random. He would have to ponder about this later as pain shot up his chest.
He reach to his chest as his vision started to clear. He saw he was no longer in a cave but rather a nice room. The walls were crystal like with a wooden finish along the ground. All though everything was a hue of blue,pink,and purple for the most part. He was in a rather comfortable bed which was far softer then the caves floor. He pulled a sheet off of him and saw his wound body covered with bandages. His leg also seem to be shackled to the bed. This made him uneasy as he pulled his legs back. The chains didn't seem to budge.
In fact getting closer he noticed the chain an shackle was made of something transparent. Like a purple light had taken solid form. He felt himself take a gulp as he looked down. On the ground near his bed his sword laid flat. For some reason who ever shackled him didn't think to take his weapon. Either they were really dumb or they may just wanna talk. He wasn't an optimistic person so his mosney was on dumb. Still at the moment it hurt far to much to bend for his blade.
Then he heard the door open. The creaking noise drawing his attention. In came seven small creatures. One appeared similar to the dragons he fought before only smaller. He assumed it was a young one. The drake was purple with green spikes along its back. Two emrald eyes were focused on his companions.
The other in the group greatly confused him. They appeared to be small horse like creatures. Or ponies. The one in front had purple hair with a pink strip. Her coat was a lighter shade of lavender. A single horn protruded from her head. Rex could only assume this was some sort of unicorn. Something he never thought he would think much less see. Next to her was a another pony only pink. A Very very pink bouncing pony.
Her mane was a crazy looking poofy and almost resembleing cotten candy. He swore he saw bits of confeti in her hair. Behind her a timid looking one with a pink sliky mane an yellow coat walked behind her. He couldn't see well with the jumping pony in the way but he swore she had wings. Above them flew in a bored looking blue pony with wings her mane and tail a brilliant rainbow. Suddenly he really wanted some skittles. Two more ponies came into the room last. One a with a coat white as snow with her purple mane styled.
The white pony also wore abit of make up he assumed. The last one was an orange pony. She was slightly taller then the rest with blonde hair and a cowboy hat. Rex would bet money she spoke with an accent. The ponies seemed occupied at the momment the purple one speaking.
"Ok girls I know it been a week but we have to keep checking him untill...he...uh." at this point they finally saw him staring right at them. For a moment everyone just stared at each other. No one dared breathe at this momment. However slowly the silence became unbearable. So rex broke it.  
"What the hell? Ponies? Did I did an go into a weird ass afterlife? Because I was promised a flaming pit."
The ponies with the exception of the purple one all took a step back. The yellow pegasus cowering behind the orange one. Their faces all had various looks of aw,fear,and confusion. He guessed they never seen a human before. Very unlucky for them he'd be the first."So are you gonna say something or stand there like a dear in headlights?"
This comment only made them more confused or disgusted. Only then did twilight approach seemingly unafraid. She knew humans well enough so this one shouldn't be an issue. " My name is Twilight Sparkle. These are my freinds Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow dash ,Rairty and Applejack. The dragon is my personal assistant Spike." As she spoke she gestured to each freind. Rex simple raised an eyebrow.
"Ok weird ass names aside were the fucking hell am I? Also why am I shackled!" His less then freindly response didn't sit we with any of them. Rairty gasped with fluttershy starting to cry. He did feel bad about that to a degree since something about her felt like he yelled at a puppy. But he was to pissed off to care. Rainbow dash flew right up to him her noise inches from him.
"Hey no body yell at my freinds! Your lucky twilight saved your sorry ass!" He grunted at the ponys words. Still he supposed she had a point. Someone had to have dragged him here.
"Ok fair enough. Well as much as I appreciate that I still have no clue where I am. " he then proceed to flick the pegasus on her noise. The mare suprised flew back an inch confused. But her anger quickly raised once more. Luckily twilight pulled her away.
The purple mare took charge speaking once more. The human seemed to be a rather rude one but for her sake she needed to work with him. "Your in Equestria. A land full of ponies dragons and others creatures you would believe to be fiction. Im sorry I shackled you but after what happened in the dragonland I needed to keep you from running around scaring ponies."
He slowly nodded. Judging by how they reacted before its clear no humans existed here."Allright I'll bite why the fucking hell am I here?" When he asked she pointed to the blade. It shined in the light as he felt a need to pick it up. He bent over despite the pain an grabbed his weapon. Some of the ponies flinched by twilight held out a hoof. She knew what she was doing.
"Its a long story human. But that blade was sent to find a champion. It picked you. If you'll follow me I'll explain more." Her horn glowed a momment before the chains disappeared. Rex quickly stood his expression mostly emtpy but with a grimace. He followed her as she walked away her freinds flanking him. "Dont worry human I'll try to explain quickly. The scroll is in the next room."
True to her statement a scrool was indeed in the next area however the room was quite large. Six seats surrounded a large table on which stood an ancient scroll. Twilight horn glowed again as the arua lifted the ancient text. She began to read aloud to the group.
"Thousands of years ago long before these lands had a name there were the elements. The ones of harmony and the ones of choas. Ponies for the most part followed the magic of order an harmony taught by the alicorns, while choas magic was taught by the world itself. For eons There was a delicate balance the two magics rare ever interacting. That was untill the first war."
The room grew tense as she spoke.  
"While little is know of the first war in our history we know two events for sure. We know that the first war happened because of two lovers. A young mare who was leader of her people and unknown stallion. Legends say the stallion simply appeared one day from the forest. However she was a unicorn while her lover was an earth pony. Her father was so furious that he struck the stallion exileing from the lands. The second event is that from his blood an entity was born. The hatred caused by this action allowed chaos magic to create a being of rage and hatred. Whos very presence caused conflict."
A cold chill ran down Rex's spine. The sword his his hand seemed to grow heavy as she spoke. The room grew darker as she continued her spell.
"The entity fueled the fathers hated causing him to declare war on his neighbor. As the rage spread all around them the stallion hiding in the forest sensed the entity. He called apon his love in secret and together they combined the harmonic magic of order with the powers of choas to form a blade. This blade was unlike any forged before as it could harness the magic around it from the natural world. Most importantly the blade could choose who could weild it allowing it to pick from those who could resist the entity."
The blade shined brightly in his hand despite that it lacked a proper Light source. The flask briefly illuminated the ponies drawing the attention of everyone except twilight. The stared in awe of the blade.
"The mare was the first and the last To wield the blade. In her fight she stood with her stallion and a small group of freinds against what they called Anguish. Together with the blade they sealed Anguish away in another plane of existence. But the battle costed the mare her life." Twilight gulped down a breath.
Even now she started to feel uneasy. "This next part was given to me by princess celestia. Its a part only she knew." She opened the scrool abit further to show the rest of the writing.
"The stallion heart broken over the loss took the blade. He embedded deep within a cavern to ensure none would be foolish enough to take the weapon. But he knew Anguish wasnt truely destroyed. One day it would return and it would destroy everything in our world for revenge. He entrusted the alicorns with this secret and told them how to activate the sword. When the sort was once again imbued with raw magic it would seek a hero. One who could finally destroy Anguish and save us all. He warned the alicorns what to look for. Evil eyes would appear in the swords shadow when it returned. Then he disappeared back into the forest never to be seen again."
Everyone took a breath as twilight folded the parchment. The the lights turned back on thanks to a clap from Pinkie Pie. Everyone started to settle as rex sighed. "That one hell of a story but its a little farfetched." Twilight gave the man a raised brow."Don't get me wrong I'm willing to admit magics a thing. Im literally surrounded by talking ponies so that screw allready fell out. But I'm no hero im just some asshole who touched a floaty sword! Im not doing this send me home!"
Twilight gulped down another breath of air as a drop of sweat went down her face. "Uh I can't send you home. The sword brought you here only it can send you home." Twilight took a step back as fury enter the face of the human. Vains visiblely showing across his face. The girls quickly moved to her side ready to defend her.
Rex of course was fuming. It was just his luck to get stuck in another world with no way home. Right now he wanted to blow up. To just let his anger out on whoever was closest. He looked down to the ponies his fist balled. But he saw the the fear on their faces. With the exception of applejack an Rainbow dash they all look somewhat afraid. He supposed as strange as they were to him he probably looked terrying at the moment. He was a stange creature armed with a weapon.
His anger left his face as his fist unballed itself. There wasn't really a point in taking his anger out on them."Fine." He stated bluntly to the confused girls. Dash spoke up "uh fine what?"
He brought his free hand to the bridge on his noise. He was just really tired at this point."I mean fine as in ill play along with this hero shit. At least untill I find a way to go. So whats first?" Twilight nodded in response as her freinds spread out.
"Well first we should know your name. You haven't really introduced yourself." She walked forward and extended to him a hoof. He just turned away rudely. "Names Rex. Not here to be freindly I just wanna get home."  
Twilight sighed.
They were gonna have to get used to each other.

Ponyville Castle 1 week after rex arrive
Adjusting to a new home is always rough. For rex it was even more so. After meeting the main six ponies and spike they decided he would stay at the castle. He used the same room he awoke from and for the last week he avoided twilight an spike.
He never was able to stand roommates back in his world. Mostly as his last roommate stole his car. Still despite his attempts he couldn't avoid them entirely. Every day for at least an hour or two twilight would hold a meeting with her freinds. During these meetings they would catch him up on important information. Well at least some. Knowing who celestia and luna were seemed far more important then the fact pinkie had a pet alligator named gummy.
The meetings mostly severed as a waynfor the ponies to get to know the human. Unfortunately rex was not very receptive. He simply nodded or raised an eyebrow at information. Hes likely said a total of about 10 sentences in the time they've know him. Half of which were just him swearing. Twilight was growing quite annoyed. She eagerly waited everyday for some kind of word from celestia but with recent events in the dragonland an everything else, the princesses seem far to busy.
Twilight sat alone in her study as the door creeked open. She found her number one assistant slowly walking in with a tray of tea." Thanks spike I needed the pick me up. She happily used her magic to bring her cup to her lips and drank slowly. "I have to admit Rex been stressing me out." In truth in more ways then one. All though some are just the fact that hes pretty rude.
Spike took a seat across from his freind. He gave her a confused look. "Why twi? I mean sure hes not freindly but he keeps to himself. Its not like hes going out of his way to hurt anyone." Twilight sighed shaking her head.
"Its not just that spike it's not healthy for anypony or human to lock themselves away. Humans are just as social of creatures as us ponies." He tapped her hoof to her chin. "In fact mabye thats part of why hes so mean. He didn't seem like the type to have alot of freinds. I know! Ill make him go out and hang with the girls!" Spike blinked thought for a moment. Unlike his sister and or mother figure he saw how forcing the human could lead to someone getting stabbed. Specifically twilight. But before he could protest she left to talk to her freinds.  
 next day  
Rex laid across his bed tired. His room was a total mess as he had been slashing the walls. He wasn't trying to be rude or anything just mearly attempting to test his abilities. So far he knew three things. One he now had the knowledge of sword play despite no previous training. He also had a drastic increase in strength. He chuckled to himself remembering how he lifted his bed with a single hand. Lastly the blade woudnt leave more then a few feet from him. If he strayed the blade would drag across ground to reach him. He groaned know would need to ask for A sheath for the blade.
"Could be worse." He thought out loud likely tempting fate. Fate awnsered in the form of a unicorn slaming his door open. Twilights mane was a mess and her eye twitched. Rex could sense she hadn't slept in at least a few hours.
"Rex! Outside now! Your going to spend that next few days having some fun!" Normally he would've told her to go screw herself but at the momment.....she was kinda intimidating for a pony. Reluctantly he stood up. Grabbing his sword. "Ight ok I'll go." Twilight came out of her crazed state. She hadn't expected this. From what she seen she expected him to react violently. She even had spike waiting outside the room with a rolling pan.
" w-why?" It was all she managed to say as rex approach. He gave her a slight smirk amused by her suprised reaction. "Simple. Because you said to. Besides it was starting to get a little boring." He looked baffled as he walked out of the room.
He gave spike a simple wave as he walked out the door. He continued untill he finally steped outside the house. "Im just gonna assume one of these ponies are just gonna appear out of no-" he was cut off by a loud poping sound. Confeti falling around him.

Yeah after that one episode with spike and his 'dad' but not really his dad ive been confused on wether shes post to be a sister or a mom. Eh whatever hope yall enjoy im trying to take my time to lessen any spelling mistakes but....its hard to avoid

Rex had to spit out confeti from his mouth as pinkie pie jumped all around him. She was singing a song he couldn't really keep up with ,as the force from the party popper dazed the poor guy. He sighed as he heard her sing once the ringing stopped.

Rex reached out cupping a hand over the mares mouth. A grimace plastered onto his face. The party mare started to slow down seemingly understanding. He pulled his hand away revealing a smiling pony's face. " Oh my Celestia it's so good to meet you! Well technically I met you a few days ago but you seemed upset. Probably because all those nasty wounds but they are all gone! You still look upset but we're gonna have so much fun! You'll be smiling in no time."
He grumbled quietly to himself but simply shrugged. He was only barely able to understand what she was saying due to how fast she was talking. But she was excited. She used a single hoof to grab his free hand and pulled him along.
The town was pretty much what he expected. A Very old fashion type of village esthetic. Pony pulled carts and had plenty of stands with various goods. Unfortunately he was getting a lot of looks. It varied between looks of horror an outright disgust when they saw him. He was fairly certain if pinkie wasnt the one pulling him he'd have seen an angry mob by now. But ponies mostly calmed when they saw pinkie. Hell if one of the elements had discord as a friend then why not a ape like alien.
They soon arrived at suger cube corner. A placed know for sweet treats and being a local hangout location. She pulled him inside and gave a quick wave to the ponies in charge before shoving him into a side room. Rex didn't really have time to ask questions before a cannon went off.
Pinkie party cannon launch both confeti and some various candies. The room behind was filled filled with ponies he didn't know and a two he did. Rairty and rainbow dash stood near a grey crossed eyed pony who was devouring muffen. Above everyone hung a sign. 'welcome to Ponyville rex' pinkie was beaming with joy with looking at the stunned human.
Rex blinked several times before walking forward scanning the room. It was a party for him. He couldn't even remember the last time he was at a party. "Uh thank you?"  
Pinkie blinked for a second as his tone reached her ear. It wasn't necessarily a angry or even upset but it did sound fairly uninterested. His grimace still present on his face.
Rex slowly walked past pinkie an headed into a corner of the room. He made no real effort to spink to anyone and just kept to himself. Admittedly rex wasn't really into partying. At least not anymore. But while his face didn't show it he appreciated the effort. Although pinkie didn't know that.
Still her mission in life was to make everypony happy and to make them smile. She wasn't ready to give up. She quickly grabbed a tray of food and rushed to his side.  
"Hey Rexy I got some super delicious treats! Here try one!" He raised a brow as pinky lifted a green cupcake to him. He quickly took the treat and shoved it into his mouth. He chewed quietly before swallowing the treat. "Well? What whatcha think rexy? Is it super duper good!" He puased thinking to himself
"Hmm not bad. Don't believe ive ever had watermelon cupcakes before." His calmed tone did wonders for pinkies confidence. But he didn't smile. She offered more treats which he accepted. But despite eating all of the treats she offered his expression remain the same.
She then continued dragging him to several party games. The games varied from 'Cornball' to 'Pin The Tale On The Pony'. He willingly joined in the games and he even managed to make small talk with the grey pony. The mare was dizty doo but she claimed everyone just called her derpy. He gave even more of an annoyed expression. "Eh im just gonna call you muffens." The mare gave him smile seemingly enjoying the new name.
Rex smirked which didnt go noticed by pinkie. It was the closest thing to a smile he had made all night. An it wasn't even her who caused it. She grabbed him by his hand an pulled him back into more games. The party ended up lasting more into the night then she had planned but everyone (except Rex) seem to be smiling and enjoying themselves to much to care.
Pinkie smiles had long since faded. Her irritation staring to catch up with her. Still they continued. She did notice rex becoming less interested as things went on. He hadn't made anymore attempts at conversations and retreated to the corner.
Pinkie gasped as she saw something unthinkable at her partys! Rex started to yawn. Her mind was practically blareing alarms. He must be bored! She quickly moved to try and do something but it was to late. It was if his yawn reminded everyone the time. Ponies walked out untill only Pinkie an Rex remained. Her mane went comicly flat as her colors started to dwindle. He bowed her head and walked away a tear falling. Rex however did notice.

Pinky sat at the entrance weeping quietly to herself. The cakes had long since gone to bed much like every pony else. But she stood alone her tears running down her cheeks. She was barely able to recognize someone had placed not a hoof but a hand on her shoulder. Next to her Rex had kneeled down with his sword on the ground.
His expression actually showed something besides a grimace. She saw the concern in his eyes. "Pinkie whats wrong?" His question came out like a gental whisper. He was trying not to startle her.
Pinky wiped the tears from her face. She looked away in shame. "I tryed really hard today rex. I just wanted you to smile an enjoy your first time in ponyville with me. But you didn't really seem ro enjoy any of it. You didn't even smile!" Her voice was filled with sarrow. A long silence filled the area.
"I dont smile pinkie. Like at least very rarely."  
His response definitely caught her off guard.  
"Pinkie I have what we humans call resting bitch face. Basically my face wont always express how im feeling especially when im relaxing. I wasn't upset pinkie I was just chillin."
Her jaw dropped as rex gave out a chuckle. Follow by a very small but sutle smile. "Im not a big party guy. For me a good party is one I get so drunk I cant remember but...I really enjoyed this. Hanging out with you was more fun then I thought. But mabye next time something a bit more suddle. Just us and a game or two." Her mane instantly went poofy once more as she wrapped her hooves around him. She was overjoyed at the news.
"So this means we're friends right!? Please please please please!" He blushed a bit at the mare sudden cheeryness. He also wasn't a huge fan of hugs but for some reason he didn't seem to mind. He just laughed before putting a single arm around her.  
"Sure pinks were freinds just take it easy ok."
The mare just smiled happily. Rex really hoped things with the others could go well.

Apple family farm.  
Rex was kicking a tree. Or perhaps more accurately he was tapping them really hard with his foot. Why was he doing this? To help Applejack of course. The mare had woken him up extra early in fact. A fact that made him consider chopping her head off.
He really wasn't a morning person. Still after five cups of coffee and a shower he was more then happy to help. Besides the way she asked him was far to convincing. "Heya sugar cube heard you and pinky had a good ol time. Why don't you come help me on the farm. Rekon we'll get done in time for pie." She was quite lucky he had a weakness for the cow girl accent. Not that he was interested in her or anything. Romance had been out of the question for awhile. No he just couldn't help doin as she asked.
The work honestly wasn't to hard for him. He saw Applejack demonstrate how to buck for apples. He gave it a shot himself and manged to not only snap the tree in half, but uproot it from the ground. Despite the loss of that tree they were making pretty good progress. Over half of the field was harvested. Admittedly with the super strength things were going easy. Applejack smiled at the human.
"Ah thank you kindly my brother big mac was feeling abit under the weather an with my lil sister off with her freinds I needed the help!" Rex gave her a simple nod. His expression the same grumpy expression. Luckily pinkie had given everyone a heads up on resting bitch face. Applejack didn't mind everypony got Their own quirks. "Ya know ah rekon you'd probably get along with big Mclntosh. Hes the queit type." Rex smirked a little. He didn't mind hanging with pinky but she was really talkative all though from her he didn't mind. From anyone else he would've probably knocked out.
"Sound like a good person to meet." He then kicked another tree the apples falling all around. Luckily baskets had been set the night prior. He went to reach them but the heat was starting to get to him. The sun had raised quite some time ago. Applejack took notice and signaled for him to stop.
"Why dont we got take break and get some water?" He gave her a thumbs up. She had no idea what that met but took it as a yes."eh why don't you take the jacket off as well suger cube?" His eyes widen having just realized he still had it on. He quickly took off the hoodie and tied the sleaves around his waste. The mare tried an fail to hold in her giggles. Once again her accent and her demeanor saved her from a verbal lashing. He silently followed her untill they approached her portch. Granny smith was sleeping in her rocking chair while a pitcher of water stood on a small table.
He eagerly pour himself and Applejack a glass. He was so thirty he didn't even bother asking how she could hold a glass or any other object for that matter. They didn't even have fingers! Or opposable thumbs! Now that was all he could think about as he poured himself another glass. It was only when something touched his leg did he stop thinking about how hooves work. Next to him was a very small pony.
She had red hair a big red bow and had a yellow coat. She look at him with big amber eyes. "What are you?" Her accent was similar to applejack suggesting they had a genetic relation. He looked to applejack and thought. While applejack was a full grown mare she didn't seem like she was a mother. She was way to calm for that. Must be her sister.
"Im a human. Its kinda like a grumpy monkey but smarter and more prone to dumb decisions. We also eat more bananas but dont tell anybody." His response got a chuckle from the foal as she went to greet her sister. The two embrace before the foal went inside. Applejack gave him a sincere smile.
"Wow you made a joke and kept from swearing. Im pretty suprised. Id rekon you'd sooner keel over then do that." She giggled again while rex rolled his eyes.
"Im no stranger to little sisters. Used to babysit for cash when I was in highschool. "  
Applejack gave him an eyebrow raise. She was starting to get curious.
"Ah I see. Ya know we apples come from a large family. You go to any city anywhere youd probably find one of us. Heck you got me, granny,applebloom, and big Mclntosh all in ponyville alone!" Rex simply nodded while stretching. "Family mighty important to us. Hmm ya know im curious you got any family waiting for ya. I bet they miss you plenty."
The air grew cold between them. The silence was uncomfortably present. Applejack could see in his eyes that something was off. He hadn't smiled but that was pretty normal. Now he seemed different filled with not just anger but sadness.
"Its complicated." It was all he said as he walked off. He didn't really seem to head in any area in particular but he didn't bother grabbing his blade. The sword dragged across the dirt almost as if an invisible hand had picked it up. It cut into the ground as leaving a trail.
Applejack may not be as smart as twilight but she knew something was off. She had a feeling it was her fault. Before she could think of what to do an elder mares voice spoke up. "Ah sounds like hes got a bit of bad blood with his family. Ive seen that look before with a Griffin feller I met way back. That boy had the same look." The old mare rocked in her seat lookin to her grand daughter. Applejack quietly nodded while a feeling formed in her stomach. She quickly got up and followed the tracks.
It took a few minutes but eventually she found him. He was skipping rocks into the lake. No he was throwing them at the lake but the sheer force caired the rocks across cutting into the water like a knife. He was about to throw another when he heard her approach. He huffed "well either I have enhance senses or your really bad at being quiet."
He didn't bother turning around instead choosing to sit at the lakes edge. She joined sitting next to him. The sound of the rippling water echoed. "So wanna talk about it hun?"
He looked at his reflection. His golden eyes staring back at him."Not really." He said bluntly. He didn't really try to hide the pain in his voice. She gently place a hoof on his back giving his a few pats. It was a simple gesture but it was appreciated.
" Ah won't pressure you hun. But I do think you should talk to someone. Ain't good ta keep stuff like this bottled up." He shifted his eyes to look at her. Mabye it was he was tired from working or mabye it was the whole element of honesty thing that he was told about. For some reason he felt she was right.
"I haven't talked to my family since I was sixteen. My family was never that close with each other. Half of them hated one sides guts the other just went an fucked off to who knows where. " Applejack looked at him her hoof remaining on his back. " Because of that I've only really new my immediate family. My pop who was rarely around my little sister who could do no wrong an my ma.....well she went missing when I was 10. I also had my grandparents but they passed a few years back. I ran away from home." He didn't cry but his eyes looked so tired. "It was a stupid decision. My sister needed me but I was just broken. Id just went through a heartbreak an I don't know. I guess I just wanted to be alone by the time I realized how stupid I had been   
I allready burned any bridges. I been on my own for years I've tried to build a new life on my own even got my G.E.D but....." He couldn't bring himself to finish but he didn't need to.
Applejack held a out her hoof slowly squeesing it around his hand. She didn't say anything. She knew that not what he wanted he needed someone to just listen. No judgment just to listen. Not everyone was close an hes far from the first or last person or pony to mess up. He made a choice. One He would regret forever. But he didn't need to suffer. After some time he regained his composure. Shes honestly suprised he kept from crying but he at least got things off his chest. "Thanks jacky I needed that"
She smiled at him before raising her eyebrow. "No problem but jacky? Really?." He laughed at her comment. Standing up he released her hoof which he had been holding.
"Just something I used to call this girl when I was young. She was a farm girl like you. Could never say no to her but she helped me when my...when my mom went missing. She was my best freind before she moved up north."  
Applejack face turned a bright red but smiled.
"Well then im honored. Well we better get going we still gotta finish the harvest." He smiled leaning down on the ground to grab his sword.
"Hey mind if i take my shirt off? Its still pretty hot out." Applejack nodded. Her face turning a brighter red almost matching her brothers coat. Rex may not be a stallion so his form was different. But even she could tell he was fairly ripped. Skinny but well toned. She definitely had to tell rainbow.
The two went off with Rex None the wiser.

A few miles outside ponyville  
Rex was wet. He was shirtless. He was pissed. Rainbow had waited for him to come outside to drench him with water. He chased after her for miles as he was furious. She had just ruined his only shirt. She was lucky his hoodie was in the wash or he would be using his sword. Right now the blade dragged behind him.
He followed the rainbow headed mare foe some time now untill he couldn't see ponyville. It was only then he stopped finally out of breath. Rainbow looked down at him blushing slightly. She planed for this. Well technically only the part were hes took his shirt off. But she was impressed sure she wasn't going nearly her top speed not even close. But he kept up and his endurance was impressive.
She finally landed onto the ground as he breathed. " you Fucking ass!- huf- that was- huff- my only shirt." He was still steamed. Rainbow chuckled trying not to burst out laughing. Of course she failed.
"Haha I'm sorry ok. Look I just wanted to see what you were capable of!" He gave her a glare. Sure her laugh was kinda cute for a pain in the ass. But unlike applejack she didn't have the accent to give an advantage. Luckily she thought ahead.
She tossed him a flask. He looked at it curious the smell of apple cider filling his lungs. Hard apple cider. Booze. He quicky downed the entire flask a sense of relief an warm flushing into his system. Rainbow went from least favorite pony to best girl in about five seconds. Record breaking speeds.
His lips even curled into a small smile. Which summoned pinkie pie who quickly snapped a picture. She then disappeared after the camera flash. Rex chose to ignore her mystical nature.
"So skittles you did you want to do something? It is our day to hang out."  
She gave him a smirk. Knowing exactly what she wanted. "I wanna race! Ill even go on foot to make it fair. If i win you owe me a favor." He raised his brow before smirking.
He wasnt a party guy but he loved a good competition. " your on skittles but if i win you gotta take me to the bar or tavern. I don't know I just want a stiff drink. Deal?" She nodded as they got into poston
"Ready human?"
"Hell yeah!"
The two took of running miles of ground in a brief amount of time. He even managed to grab his sword as he ran past. Rainbow was starting to like this human. They continued untill ponyville was in sight. She was suprised how someone who was out of breath minutes ago was keeping pace with her. The booze was strong with this one.
The race continued into the market district. Rainbow had planned to turn last moment to avoid things such as carts an stands. She would have to take back roads but that was fine. Unfortunately she made a mistake.
Rex had mad hops. He cleared a passing cart with a single jump. He used his sword to Pullvault over the not only the cart but several stands. In the end he won.
Rainbow found rex at sugercube corner eating with derpy. She had given the human a muffin. "Thanks for the muffin 'muffin' blue berry is my favorite " the mare blushed abit seeming lovin her new nickname. She soon flew off. If one listens closely they could hear glass shatter and a mares voice "I just dont know what went wrong"
After the race rainbow led the two to a new bar in town. 'The emerald dragon' The place specialized in severing drinks met for all kinds of creatures. Dragons could drink stuff that would kill a normal pony while changlings drank a sap like substance that was made of 'drunken enthusiasm.' Rainbow didn't wanna ask.
Rex took a seat at the bar with rainbow in tow. The griffin looked to the human. "What are you? Some sort od monkey?" Rainbow giggled while Rex sighed he was really sick of the monkey jokes.
"Got any whiskey? Stronger the better."  
The griffin shrugged before grabbing a bottle of dragon scale whiskey. No real dragons were harmed in the making of this product.  the whiskey was ment for ponies with a strong tolerance.
The bar tender poured a few shots while looking at rainbow waiting for her. "Ill take the sour apple cider." The griffin rolled his eyes. Hes only been in business a few weeks at most yet this is the ninth time this pony has ordered it. He reached down pulling out a large mug filled with cider.
The pony an the human drank happily. Rex even decided to purchase the whole bottle. He wasnt sure why but hes not really getting drunk duzzed sure but not drunk. He looked down to the mare who was drinkin the cider in a cute way.
"Hey dash are you gonna ask me that favor?" The question caught her off guard. She looked to the human her brow raised.
"I lost the race. Why would you do it?"  
He would quickly respond
"Because it was apparently its was worth risking my wrath. Besides I'm startin to like you ponies. You six have been.....fun. I cant even remember the last time I got into a race."
Rainbow blushed slightly before downing her cider." Id like for you to protect rairty tomorrow. Some guys from Manhattan have been cat calling an harassing her. Normally I handle those bozos but i have work tomorrow. Just please keep her safe."
She looked down she was a little ashamed to ask for help. She was the element of loyalty in her eyes it was her responsibility to protect her freind. But she can't miss work again.
Rex put a hand on her shoulder. "Rainbow dash I promise you if those guys so much as touch a hair on her mane...ill cut off there legs and shove them right Is right up their asses. Then set them on fire." His response did unnerve her slight all though she was Grateful.
"Mabye just kick their tails?" He nodded smiling the two sharing a good laugh.  
He didn't have to worry and got to check out the human. "Oh what are skittles?"
He raised a brow. "Oh its a candy back from where im from. The motto they had was taste the rainbow. Your mane reminds me of em."
She smirked. "Hey that be a pretty good line to use. Wanna taste my rainbow. ~ " She chuckled to herself. He did the same but he also knew that line was far from original. But she seemed happy.

One again rex found himself with another pony. Rairty was pretty much what he expected. Very dramatic. The moment he walked in he gave out an audible gasp. She ran over with a measuring tapebin hoof. Well in magical blue arua. She examined him throughly a look of disgust on her face.
He almost made a comment telling her to fuck off before she spoke up. "Darling how have you surived in such terrible attire! These stiches are barely holding!" He blinked rapidly. He then looked down noting that she wasnt exactly wrong. His jeans at large tears at the knees and several other holes. He had done a pretty crap job at patching them. His shirt was just as bad. The only peace of clothing he really tried hard to repair was his hoodie. But even now the yellow color started to fade with small holes that he stitched.
To be fair he's only ever had to stitch small tears. His clothing has been through more hell the past week then in past 6 years. Rairty had allready started working on her own designs. "Don't worry Darling I'll whip something fabulous for you. Twilight informed me of how humans needed to wear clothes constantly. Ive allready had some designs drawn up so I just needed your measurements." He was pretty suprised to say the least.
The mare quietly left the room instructing him to take a seat. He shugged doing as he was told. He sat for what felt about an hour mabye two. She then returned hovering a new shirt an jeans in her magic. He was suprised how fast she was. He thought making a new outfit tooks day or at least a few hours with prep. Still he was in a magical world with talking ponies so nothing was off the table. She then quickly rushed him to a changing room. "Ok Darling get those old rags off and I'll toss them out. I do hope these are more comfortable. "
After a few minutes in the changing room he adorn his new attire. The shirt was a simple white t-shirt. It wasnt two different from the black one he wore before but he had to admit whatever material she used felt nice. His new jeans were also much better. They hugged his waist nicely while still giving him plenty of movement. He had to give credit were it was do. That mare knows a thing or two about clothing. He slid his old clothes out the door for rairty. She promptly threw them into the bin.
He did take notice of the fact he had only handed over two pieces of clothing. She had expected three. "Uh darling are you not gonna toss out that uh hoodie?" Her words hung in the air as he walked out with his hoodie around his waist." Nope. Its my lucky hoodie from when I was a kid. Ill die in thing an Ill be buried in it." He stated proudly. The mare sighed slightly disappointed but her expression soften.
" Well then if its so important to you then will you allow me to properly repair it." He looked at her a moment. He nodded pulling the jacket off and handing to rairty. She carefully took the garment and set it aside. It was gonna take some serious work to restore it to perfection but she was happy to do so. She then took a second to admire her handy work. The entire fit him quite handsomely. All he need to do now was brush his hair an mabye shave and he'd be perfect.
"Uh rairty while I do appreciate the new threads how am I gonna pay for this? I haven't really got a job in this dimension." The mare just gave him a luagh.
"Dont worry about it Darling! You desperately needed these clothes. Besides if you truly must repay me you can help me take a few boxes to the post office." She levitated a large box into his arms. The box was heavy enough that if he didn't have weird magic strength he probably would have dropped it. He held the box gently placing his sword on top of it. She levitated a second box of her own to carry.
The two quickly walked out making the trip across town. They took their time and took a few stops to rest. By the time they made it to the post office the place was about to close. Luckily a certain cross eyed pony decided to keep the doors open for a few extra minutes. He gave her a nod knowing that he definitely owed the mare a muffin. The two happily happily sent the crates on the way to whoever rairty was sending them to.
The two stepped out but rairty froze. In the corner of her eyes she saw three stallion in overalls an hard hats. One uncoirn on earth pony an a pegasus all with matching grey coats. The same brutes who have been harassing her all week. She didn't want to deal him them today an she certainly didn't want to drag any pony into her problems. "Pardon me Rex but I need to get home. My poor sister is probably waiting for me." She then quickly walked away taking a path behind a bulding. Rex's eyes caught the stallions who went into an alley way themselves. His memories of his promise to rainbow flashed in his head. He slowly followed behind.
Rairty had made her way through a few alleys. It was dark now and only a few laterns lit up the area. Still if it met avoiding those nasty stallions it would be worth it. Sadly as she turned a corner she found herself face to face with three laughing stallions. "Heya sweet cheeks miss us~?" The unicorn taunted. His tone made rairty want to puke not to mention the smell of old pickles on the stallions breath. She found herself trying to walk back but she hit a wall. She felt trapped. "Aw don't give us that look.~ I just want a kiss. Then we'll be on our way.~" his freinds laughed as he got uncomfortably close. Rairty was about to scream. She didn't truely feel threatened as shes faced far worst then three colts but luckily she didn't have to deal with them.
"Touch her and I'll break that horn off." Rex's voiced echoed in the alley. His sword in hand as he approached. The stallions turned away from the mare who took the chance to bolt behind the corner. The clots approached him undeterred by his blade.
"Looks like some mouthy monkey got loose boys. Why don't we teach him how things work around here." Rex face was unchanged. But on the inside he was questioning why this pony had a Brooklyn accent. He also noted that anyone he knew from Brooklyn would tell him to shut up an kick that pony's ass. So when the unicorn reached him with his horn glowing he knew what to do. He reached out grabbed the unicorn by his horn and brought his face to his knee. Repeatedly. The sound of bone crunching echoed across the night. Rairty had to look away holding her stomach.
The unicorns face was bloody. Its noise was bloody and several teeth had fallen out. He then Unceremoniously tossed the broken unicorn to the side. The pegasus was pissed pulling a box cutter from his belt. The pony flew at his insanely fast and gashed his leg. He gritted his teeth And brought the hilt of his blade down on the pegasus's back. He just managed to hit the flying pony in time. The hit sent the pony off course sending him into several trash cans. But that pony had not only left a nasty gash on his leg but also cut a hole in his new jeans. While it may have seemed petty he wasn't gonna let that slide.he approached him. He dropped his sword reached over and took the ponys wings in hand. The pegasus eyes open wide as he desperately shook his head. Wordlessly begging him to stop.
'SNAP'
The Pegasus yelled out in agony. Rex had snapped the pony's wings forcing them in unnatural directions. The pony passed out from the pain. He then looked at the earth pony. The guy was shaking in his boots after watching what happened to his freinds. Rex looked at him blood still flowing from his leg.  
"Take your pals and leave. If I see you idiots again I'll do worse then break a few bones." His voice was cold. But the colt quickly ran to his freinds and grabbed them by their tails.
Rex waited untill they were fully out of site before leaning onto the wall. The cut in his leg was deeper then he thought. The blood loss making him abit light headed. He called out to rairty. "They left gem go home." Rairty slowly came out from the corner. But she couldn't leave. She approached the human shaking abit as she did. The human had handled things more violently then she would have liked. Still she was thankfull using her magic to support him. The two quietly returned to the boutique. She handed a glass of wine to dull the pain while he grabbed the first aid kit.
Now to long after his leg was stitched up and his jeans were patched nicely. Rairty promised to make him a few extras since she had a feeling he was gonna go through em. To be far she probably wasn't wrong. "Thank you darling for your help today. I wish thing had gone abit less....bloody but im thankfull."
He gave her a nod while standing up. He was certain twilight would here about the fight. Which ment a very long lecture."Any time gem just hope those dicks learned a lesson."  
Rairty blushed at her nickname. Wasn't original but it was fitting.
"Im sure they did. Either way I doubt they will show themselves around here. Now you should head home an rest ok." He nodded finishing his wine before wishing a her good night. He kept his promise an got some new clothes and all it costed him was abit of blood.
Overall a pretty good day. Hopefully fluttershys vist will be less violent.

Outside fluttershys home.  
It was a bright morning as rex waited at fluttershys cottage. The place was quite beautiful with fresh green grass an trees. The place was perfect. Thats unless your rex who's been waiting at fluttershys door for an hour.
He was growing more aggravated but decided to stay. Twilight had warned him that fluttershy would be skittish. Still he hoped she have been a bit more calm now that he has met her friends. As rex placed the sword against the cottage. He slowly humed a tune to himself. As he hummed the door slowly creaked open as a yellow pegasus stepped forward. She was looking at him with one of her eyes covered by her mane.
He didn't notice her until he was halfway done with his tune. He blushes brightly but have gave the mare a simple wordless nod. Fluttershy gave out a small 'eep' sound when he looked at her. Her own cheeks flaring from embarrassment. But at the very least she hadn't run away. He gave her a small wave which she returned after a momment of hesitation. She guestered to invite him in.
After a few minutes of akward silence he walked in. Fluttershy followed but froze in fear as the human stopped. A small white furry creature stood on his foot glaring at the human. Fluttershy mouth hung open as she gave out a silent shreek. Her precious Angel bunny blocked the humans path. She heard of what rex has done. From his battle with Ember to his recent outing with Rairty. All though Rairty had only told that he roughed a few ponies up. Obviously she was holding back details.
Rex looked at the bunny before kneeling on one knee. Fluttershy moved closer. She may be frighten but no one was gonna hurt her bunny. As he reached down her heart skipped a beat from shock. Right in front of her rex the human who could survive dragon attacks wasn't hurting Angel. He was petting him. Rex had been simply petting angel and was scratching behind the bunny's ear. Angel was so suprised he didn't even try to bite the creature. But now the bunny found himself nussling into the humans palm.
Fluttershy was suprised to say the least but it was a pleasant one. Rex just smirked looking at the small ball of fluff. "heh bunny." He enjoyed the little creature. It was like having a pet again a feeling he missed dearly. Fluttershy now feeling more confident moved near him.
"Its not every day angel warms up to someone so quickly. Were you an animal lover back home?" Her voice was soft still only just above a whisper. But it didn't go unnoticed by rex. She clearly felt more comfortable.
"Yeah kinda. Grew up with dogs,cats,birds and all sort of pets. Its been awhile but I still got a soft spot for critters." She gave him a shy smile before grabbing a bag from the sofa. She gently nudged it near him an he took it while standing. Admittedly angel wasnt happy the affection stopped as human fingers were superior to hooves.
"Thats good to know. I actually am planing on visiting some wolf freinds of mine. They always come by for treats." She signaled to rex it was time to go and he followed. The two made Their way through the forest.  
They traveled for some time together enjoying the silent company.
But as they walked a look of discomfort entered fluttershys face. Rex could tell something was off."whats wrong fluttershy." His tone carried a decent amount of concern.
The Pegasus looked around. Her eyes narrowing as he gave out a small whimper. "They aren't here. This...this isn't like them they are never late!" He swallowed a breath as he felt an uneasy feeling rise in his chest. That's when a small bark could be heard. Fluttershy instantly flew off in its direction. She was moving fast enough to give rainbow a run for her money.
Rex followed her as quickly as he could. He found himself running through bushes and hoping over rocks. He stopped when he saw fluttershy. She was there standing with a few small wolf puppies. But the pups weren't excitedly hopping around her. They coward behind her. He saw why.
The pack had been slaughtered.
The wolves laid around them nearly twenty-one in total. They littered the ground with arrows in them. He gulped a breath as he approached flutter who carried an injured wolf in her hooves. It was still breathing for now. Tears poured down her face as the litter of pups surrounded her. He stood to her right giving her the space she needed.
"P-Poachers. They attacked. T-they-" she tried to hold in her tears. She wanted to be strong."they killed them for their fangs but she hid pups. But she....I cant stop it." Her hooves were stained red as she held down on an open wound. The wolf let out a weak whimper. "Shes suffering rex-I cant stop it!"
Her voice raised but only barely she tryed everything she could to keep it together. Rex nodded an approached her. The small pup move to avoid him stepping on them. He gently grabbed onto her hooves as he knelt down. He couldn't bring himself to see anyone or anypony in this much pain. Not fluttershy....and not the wolf.
"Fluttershy. Take the pups check them for wounds." While it was a command it came out more like a plea. He didn't want her to see what came next. She was about to refuse to leave her freinds when he cut her off."I wont let her suffer." Her eyes widen. She wanted to refuse to save her but he was right.
Even if they had medical supplies on hand the wound was far to big to patch and she had allready lost to much blood. She would die. But this way she wouldn't have to endure the pain. Fluttershy slowly moved away herding the pups a distance away. She used her wings to block the young wolves view.
Rex then place a hand to the wolf. Her eyes looked tired as she continued to whimper. He gently ran his fingers arcoss her fur. The wolf seemed to calm just slightly as he readied his blade."you've earned your rest. May you find the peace you were denied. May you forever be free." The words came out in almost a whisper. Then faster then most could see he ended it. There was no sound no whimper. Just the sounds of nature.
He stood up wiping the blood from the blade. He turn to fluttershy who was curled into a ball an crying. His heart weeped for her. He quickly made his way to her scooping the mare into his arms. She made no effort to resist. She only cried as he carried her close to his chest. He made his way back towards the cottage. The pups followed behind seemingly knowing they belonged with fluttershy. Her tears didn't relent.
Soon they were at her home. The wolves went about the place but luckily angel bunny kept them in line. Mostly to keep the place to his liking. He was curious why the human had fluttershy in his arms but he would ask later. The bunny hopped off attempting to stop a wolf from chewing his bed.
Fluttershy shy and rex rested on her couch. Her face now planted to his chest as she cried. Rex silently patted her back. He lost pets before so he knew how much an animal can mean to someone. All though he assumed the pain was worst for her as her connection with them runs even deeper. Right now she needed to cry. To let out her pain. The least he could do was be there for her.
Hours past before the tears dried. Mostly because she was running out of tears from dehydration. She silently looked up from his chest to look at him. He hadn't cried but his eyes were heavy. She found herself feeling a strange sense of comfort as she realized his arms were tightly wrapped around her. Despite her sadness the embrace felt nice.
"Hey butterfly. You ya wanna talk about it?" She shook her head no."do ya wanna just stay here on the couch for a bit longer?" She thought a momment befored nodding. She found herself resting against him an listening to his heartbeat. In turn he listen to her breathing. He noticed she started to calm after awhile.
She soon let out a yawn before resting against him. Her eyes shutting close as she entered lunas realm of dreams. He then silently as possible picked her back up. He slowly brought her to her room gently placing her down an pulling her blanket over. He didn't notice but fluttershy face began a small but content smile.
He tiptoed his way out of the room and made his way to the door. As he walked he heard something. "Thank you my dear human. She will be ok dont worry your little head." The voice was clearly male an not fluttershy. He drew his sword an turned back. But he was only met with empty air. He shrugged assuming it was in his head as he walk away.
As the door shut two red eyes materialized out of thin air as the chimeric form of discord seem to appear from nothing. He had a melancholy smile. He was happy that someone was there with her but he had wished he could have stopped this from happening. Still the human had done what discord wanted. It ment much to him that fluttershy his dear freind had a shoulder to cry on.
Now if only he could get his paw an claw on the poachers that commited such horrific acts. Perhaps some time in the dimension were waffles eat you would be a good start for a punishment. He Chuckled to himself before teliporting away.
meanwhile back in the forest
As the moon rised into the sky a shadowy eye eye formed into the shadow of a treat. The shadow grew unnaturally untill it reached the wolves. It sensed how they died. The pain and suffering. The hatred and greed. It was delicious. "Your soul carry such anguish~ allow me to help you express it~" the voice was dark an ancient. Evil seemed to radiate from it. the wolves eyes shot open as shadows began to cover them.
"The age of peace and harmony is over! ANGUISH SHALL RISE!"

At ponyville castle/friendship castle
Rex rested in his room his eyes shut tight. After everything that happened with fluttershy the other day he just wanted to sleep for a year. Sadly despite his best effort he couldn't seems to get a full nights rest. Everytime he would finally drift into slumber he would suddenly wake up again. Its as if his own dreams were acting out. He knew he drempt about something before he woke but his memory wouldn't retain it.
Now all he could do was lay in bed with his eyes shut. If his mind couldn't rest at least his body could. At least untill the damn sun shined into his face. He let out a sigh in defeat as his body shuffled. Soon he was on his feet an in fresh clothes. He opened the curtains as saw the sun was shining down brightly. He also noticed it was much later in the day then he normally awoke. Well at least since he found himself in equestia.
By now twilight would have normally barged in and make him go outside. Making him spend a day with one of her friends. At least that had been the trend for this week. He shrugged an made his way downstairs. The castle was fairly quiet. Almost to quiet for his liking.
It didn't take him long however to find what he was looking for. The library. This world didn't have much for him in the ways of entertainment. Tv and video games weren't really an option for him anymore. Also the bar wouldn't be open for another hour at least. Luckily he lived with ponyvilles number one book horse. In fact said horse was currently on the floor sitting on a small pile of pillows and books. Her mane was frazzled and admittedly she look like she hadn't slept in awhile.
He just shrugged at the sight of her. He knew what it was like to get lost in a good story. He then ran his fingers across the shelves as he looked for the book he wanted. He found it. Daring do. A book that seemed like the pony version of indiana jones. At least he hoped it was.
As he grabbed the book and turned to go to his room an idea struck him. Twilight had been making him spend time with her freinds. It only seems fitting she has to suffer his company as well. He then turned back to the alicorn. A word he had to learn after meeting her. Twilight was the princess of friendship and element of magic. All though he still didn't really know in what why she was a princess as she didn't own any land or have an army. The girl just reads and eats fast food.
Still princess or not he was doing this. He walk up right next to her and knelt down poking her horn. The sudden touch spooked the mare causing her to squirm in a rather adorkable fashion. She calmed down when she realized it was only rex. "Oh Rex! Sorry I didn't hear you come in. Did you need something? If its just some extra blankets or something im sure spike could help."
He just rolled his eyes and took a seat on the floor."Actually i'm here to hang out with you today bookworm. So get comfy." He then opened his book as twilights eyes widened. Her horn flashed as she used magic to insantly fix her mane an to rid of her odor. She hadn't taken a shower.
Still she wasnt going to pass up an opportunity like this. Rex was really showing progress. He went from locking himself away to actively seeking her company. Even if his face didn't show the same joy she had she could just sense he was happier now. She quickly picked her own book up and began reading it. Well partly reading it her focus being more on him then the Quantum Mechanics and Magic book she had been reading.
As he read she thought back to the details her freinds shared with her. He was definitely a rough individual. His tendencies for violence and overall personality made that clear to her. But he also was nicer then she had guessed. He willingly if not hesitately went along with her freinds. Even if he didn't like attending big parties he still did an even helped cheer her up. He help applejack with her work an was kind to applebloom. He raced with rainbow and even protected rairty.....even if she got sent the medical bills
Discord had even informed her of events of yesterday. Her smile wavered abit thinking about the pain she must've went through. Twilight would forever be in his debt for that. She happily read her book next to the human. However the silence of reading can only last so long.
"So Rex what kind of stuff did you read back home?" Her question caught him off guard as he turned to look at her. His eyes meeting hers. The way she looked at him with such curiosity was undoubtedly adorable. He thought for a moment.
"Huh well I guessed I used to read alot of fantasy books when I was back on earth. Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones. Anything that had dragons an magic.....Heh kinda funny im in a world that literally has both of those things." He held in a small chuckle.
Twilight nodded with her eyebrow raised. While she has explored some reading material from humans these were not stories shes herd of. "Well did any of these stories have ponies? Unicorns or pegasai?"  
He Chuckled remembering how in some fiction unicorns ate people. However she probably wouldn't be ready for such girmdark tales.
"Yeah we definitely had countless stories of unicorns and at least a few that had a pegasus. All though they were more like magic animals in our tales." He noticed as he spoke her horn lit up with a pinkish glow. The arua surround a quill and paper which started writing on its own. He assumed she was controlling the floating writing utensils.
"How about earth ponies? Im assuming they were also viewed as animals right? Ive had some experience with humans so I believe thats the case." He made a mental note to himself to ask twilight about how the hell she knew humans. Right now he just wanted to satisfy her curiosity.
"Well in stories we mostly use horses which are taller and bigger then you ponies. They also actually exsist in our world. We also do have poines but there just horses that have been bred to be smaller." She nodded as more paper started to float over.
"So how dose that effect your veiw of us? Are we still like animals to you?" Her question made him think. The ponies were not like the ones back home. Ponies on earth weren't pastel colored,they didn't have human like eyes,and they certainly didn't read books. He knew his awnser.
"Nah yall might be ponies but I dont really see any difference between you guys an humans. Both are capable of being kindhearted and being dickwads. Ponies are just as intelligent and flawed as us humans." He spoke with a nonchalant tone. As if the awnser was obvious. Truly it kinda was.
Whatever the case she gave him a smile and happily took more notes. The two sat there for hours going back and forth with questions. Mostly questions about life as a human. What was school like,what hobbies did humans have, what kind of foods humans enjoyed.
Rex found himself feeling oddly satisfied awnsering the alicorns questions. He thought he'd would have gotten annoyed or would've gotten bored long before dark. Yet it was nearly midnight now. Spike had to step in and bring the two dinner before the conversation stopped. Rex happily ate the food spike had prepared. It was some sort of stirfry with hay in it. Admittedly it was abit tough for him to chew but it tasted good enough for him to ignore that. Spike had even thrown in some fish in Rex's bowl. He gave the little dragon a thumbs up.
Once they finished the meal Rex found himself yawning. It was time to attempt sleep once more. He wished the two a good evening before heading to his chamber. His sword in hand as he made his way back. The last week had been quite enjoyable. Well minus the tragedy with fluttershy. He hoped his time here would remain relatively peacefull.
Sadly fate would have other plans

Rex yawn to himself. His day has so far been uneventful. He woke up to find twilight still in her pile of books an notes. Needless to say he wasn't going to bother her. He did also find spike however. He noticed him pulling a small wagon and holding a list. Spike was going out on errands and rex decided to be nice and help him. Rex almost instantly regretted this discussion.
It had been hours since they originally left the castle. They had been to a dozen different shops. They still weren't done! He crossed his arms and tapped his foot. His boredom was nearing aggravating levels. Now he was waiting on spike who had gone into sugar cube to grab him a coffee. Honestly rex liked the little dragon. He was kind and all things considered he was pleasant company. But right now Rex was grumpy and desperately needed caffeine if he was gonna make it through the second half of the list.
He then felt something in his palm. His sword vibrated just slightly. It was enough for him to notice. He raised his blade an stared into it. A feeling filled his body. A sense of dread. His eyes opend wide as he felt an invisible weight in his chest. For a moment he thought he might be having a heart attack but then it was gone. As fast as it came the feeling was gone. Yet he still felt uncertain. It wasnt until a voice with a lovely country accent caught his attention.
" Hey sugar cube! You doing Allright? You've been starin at yer blade for solid minute. " he turned his head to meet eyes with applejack . He felt relieved apon seeing her. "Im fine jackie I just uh had a weird feeling."
The mare nodded accepting the awnser before taking a seat at his side. "So whatcha up to hun? Ain't used to seeing you in ponyville on yer own." He sighed. She was right he really wasn't a fan of heading into town. Even if the town folks accepted his presence thanks to the mane six it was still uncomfortable. One can only get so many odd looks before they know just how out of place they are.
"Im just running errands with spike. Were taking a break and hes grabbing me a coffee and some stuff for himself to." He shrugged and gesture to the wagon that had a large assortment of items on it. Half hazardly tied together.
"I see well im here waiting for rainbow. Shes post to get home today and were heading to a party with pinky. Oh yer invited by the way! Pinkie asked me to tell ya." He Chuckled in response before giving her a thumbs up. At that moment spike had returned a cup of coffee and a smoothie in hand. Rex started to reach for the former. "Thanks spik-" He was cut off by an ear piercing shreek. The three of them foze as the voice registered in their minds.
"Rairty!" Applejack yelled out as she charged towrds the screem. Rex grabbed his sword and started following after his legs moving faster as a crowd of ponies started to panic. Spike attempted to follow as well but the crowd pushed him further away. 'Good' rex thought to himself. This way spike wouldn't get hurt.
It wasn't long untill the found rairty. Sadly she wasn't alone there the mare layed flat on her back as a large paw held her down. Above her was a giant snarling wolf its size nearing that of rex itself. Its fangs seem unnaturally long and pertruded from the maw. Its fur seem as it it were covered in thick shadows. A pattern of red eyes danced around its pelt. Its fangs were bared ready to sink into her flesh. The mare closed her eyes ready for her end as the wolfs maw moved to her throat.
However instead of soft flesh its mighty jaws clamped down on a piece of metal. A sharp piece of metal. Rex had lunged forward thrusting his blade at the last moment. The wolf growled as rex pushed forward tackling the monster onto its back. "Fuck off you big bastard!" Rex yelled as he yanked his blade free. The wolf responded by using its hinds legs to knock the human away. The two foes then quickly stood getting ready to clash once more. "Gem you might wanna run. Seriously get out of here!"
The mare wasted no time running behind applejack. Applejack was ready herself to throw down. Making sure rairty didn't get attacked again however was her priority. Rex would have to handle this for now. Speaking of which.
The wolf creature charged at rex who in turn swung his blade at it. The wolf barely missed as it attempted to avoid his attack. His sword barely scratching its side. The wolf snapped forward at his leg only to be met with a foot to its chin. Rex took his chance slash his blade across its back. The wound from the blade seemed to glow slightly as the sound of burning flesh could be heard. The wolf gave out a whimper before snarling. Rex lifted sword to end the monster.
But out of the shadows a second beast lunged at him slashing its claws against his back. His hoodie an shirt were now both torn and drenched in blood. On reflex he slashed back at the second wolf slashing one of many eyes out. But his eyes widen as more started popping out from the shadows. 20 in total. His eyes widen. 20 wolves were poached and now 20 were attacking ponyville. With red eyes. "Fuck can Anguish bring back the dead seriously?!" He wasted no time thinking. His sword began swinging forward and slicing his second attackers head off.
"That was for my hoodie." He yelled out as he charged into the pack his blade swinging back an forth. Completely forgetting the first wolf that sank back into the shadows. As he charged in two more wolves found themselves being ran through. 3 down 18 more to go.
The wolves weren't staying still. They started lunging at the ponies his eyes widen as he saw one tackle a purple unicorn snapping at her leg. Her scream made something in him go off. A primal rage surged as he threw his sword into the side of the wolfs head. It plunged through it head an sprayed the unicorns purple hair in blood. But freed the mare in the process.
Then the sword pulled itself from the creatures skull an back into his hand. Lightning danced in his eyes. He couldn't help but smile. "Thor eat your heart out!" He then made his way towards the wolves once again.
As he fought apple jack stepped in using her laso to pull ponies from deaths jaws. She noticed starlight her freind limp over. Her legs bleeding. "Sugar cube! Did you get bit by one of em varmits!" The unicorn nodded.
"Yeah but that monkey guy saved me! But nevermind that the crusaders! They were with trixie! They're still in there!" Applejacks jaw dropped as the news hit her. Her sister was in danger. She ran into the fray jumping over other ponies and even headbutting a wolf away from her. Luckily for her the packs attention was back on rex for the most part.
His new found second win set in into a primal fury. The blade seemed to be covered in a form of electricity. The lightning dancing around the blade. One wolf after another dropped to the ground dead as he swung his blade like a mad man. He wasnt without his own injuries. His shirt and hoodie were almost gone by this point. His chest had bite marks and cuts all around it. His back had been clawed savagely with blood practically covering his rear. Yet he continued slicing another wolf.
He yelled in a primal rage as he grabbed another foe by its snout and lifing it into the air. This was followed by slaming its head back onto the stone beneath them. As the last of the current pack fell a call hit his ears. "Rex please I need yer help!" His eyes found the voice. It was applejack. Without another word he followed behind her.
" Its my sister! She and her freinds are missing! Ah cant find em!" He look down at her. He saw the fear in her eyes. The pain. They needed to find them. It was then he saw it. Down an alleyway there they were. Three small ponies. One with a white coat and swirly hair, another orange with purple,and a familiar one with a yellow coat and redhair. Along side them laid a blue unicorn. Her white hair drenched in her blood. Over them stood a wolf. The world seem to slow.
Three young ponies were at the mercy of the monster before them. He felt his body ache. The pain started to catch up with him. He was tired, exhausted, his legs struggled with every step. But if he didn't act they would die. Applejack would lose her sister. It would be his fault. Because he couldn't bring himself to move faster......"fuck that!"
The blade glowed brightly as his body seemed to launch forward. In blinding speed he seemed to dash forward in the 'blink' of the eye. The 'blink' sent him flying into the wolf tackling it away from the fillys. The two smashed through a building. Rubble rained down on them. He laid on the ground. His body unmoving. He smiled though. Even as he heard the wolf get up. Even as it stood above him with fangs bared.
Sure he was about to die. But at least he died for something. Now mabye some young ponies will get to grow up now. He closed his eyes ready for death. That was untill he heard a what he could've sworn was sonic boom. But rockets dont exsist here. Do they? He opened his eyes. But instead of the jaws of a killer shadow wolf he saw the concerned face of a blue rainbow maned pegasus.
"Thanks for the save skittles". He found the strength to sit up. He looked past the worried rainbow dash back to see applejack hugging her sister. Also rairty was there hugging the smaller white pony. Must be her sister. He also saw a pony in a nurse outfit cart away the blue unicorn. She was hurt but it looked like she was still breathing. "Dude are you ok ! You almost died!" Rainbow dash yelled as a purple flash appeared. The rest of the main six appeared. Fluttershy flew over with a first aid kit as pinkie an twilight followed.
Fluttershy helped to patch his wounds and twilight began asking a long series of questions. But he just looked up at the sky. There voices weren't registering at the moment. All he could could think was.

in ponyville a few minutes after the last chapter.
"Fuck!" Rex scream out as fluttershy applied what he assumed to be rubbing alcohol on one of his wounds. The mare didn't even seem to care as she push up his arm to apply another bandage. He was suprised by how assertive the mare was at the moment. Then again if she tends to animals especially wolves an large predators it makes sense she can be abit aggressive. Well at least as aggressive as she can be holding back tears.
He wasn't sure if it was the wolves he slain or his own injuries cuasing her distress. Probably some combination of the two. He just chose to allow the mare to do her work. God knows he probably needed her to as his injuries still ached. Twilight was also with them still as she talked his ear off. She went on an on about how Anguish must have use the pain from the wolves to reanimate them. She also explained his sword was literally burning away Anguish's power as they fought. At least that was what he managed to pick up.
He looked to the sky wear rainbow hovered. She had an expression he couldn't read. He could only sense that she was angry. Her friends were in danger and she wasn't there. For the element of loyalty that must've hurt.  
His gaze moved to see his other freinds.
Applejack and rairty were hugging their sisters so tight the were turning blue. At least for a second before they pulled away. Pinkie was also with them. She was next to the orange foal with small wings. The two seemed to be laughing. Well pinkie was as the foal still seemed shaken up. He knew the mare was trying to cheer them up an he can't blame her for trying. But trama like this might need abit.
"Ok Rex Im done with your bandages. Now don't mess with them or put pressure on your arm!" Her voice was like a stern mother. Admittedly it was pretty adorable but he decided to nod his head instead of commenting. He slowly moved to stand flinching when his arm shot with pain.
This caught both Fluttershy and Twilights attention. "Rex are you sure you wanna be up like this. We could call nurse Redheart or even take you to the hospital." Twilight suggested. Rex justed chuckled.
"Im fine Twilight seriously. This is nothing compared to what that blue geko did to me." His comment didn't really ease her concern.  
He slowly made his way back towards the castle. However he felt someone tug at his pant leg. He turned to see Applebloom who had somehow escaped her sisters death hug.
The foal looked up at him smiling. "Thank ya kindly mister. You saved ma life an ma friends. " He couldn't help it as his lips curled into a small smile. He slowly knelt down to get to eye level with her. "Anytime Kiddo. Now stay safe or your sister might throw me into a tree."
His comment made the foal laugh as she ran off to her freinds. He slowly got back up not noticing the flash from a camera. One that was being held by a pink party pony. He then continue walking before sitting down on a bench out of the way of everypony.
Time passed quickly as the town slowly calm down. Most of the damage was easily repaired with magic all though the home he crashed through would need considerably more repairs. Apparently magic can only do so much at once. He would have to ask twilight about it.
Honestly after a day like this it would be good to get the girls together an just hangout. He didn't look it but on the inside he waz still smiling at the thought. Being with friends again felt good. Even if he was in pain at the moment. He then saw Applejack an rairty walk up. The rest of girls werw just behind them. The two sat next to him with Applejacks extending her front hoof around him. A one armed hug from the side. "Thanks you sugar cube I- Im grateful for your help I dont even wanna think about what would have happened if-" Applejack bit down on her lip. The other girls noticeably flinching.
Truth is if he hadn't acted in time its likely applebloom, sweetie bell, and scootaloo would have been torn apart. Applejack was calm though as things worked out. Rairty was however a lot less so. She had firmly grabbed onto his side in a hug an had her face buried into him. He felt a wet spot grow on his shirt as muffled thank you could be heard. Admittedly it made him abit uncomfortable.
He wasn't heartless though as he gently patted the unicorns back. Honestly after almost dieing herself and not to mention what happened with her sister well he wasnt suprised she was being emotional. "Dont mention it gemstone just please take a second to breathe."
Rairty slowly pulled off of him her mescara dripping from her face. She only took in a breath as she calmed. "Good look its been a crazy day so why dont we all get some rest an relax. Besides we can all get coffee or something tomorrow when things settle."
The girl seem to chipper at the thought. Hell even rainbow dash she intrigued by a coffee hangout. Normally something like this would be boring but with their resident human it seemed more appealing. As they thought spike ran up to check on rex. Rex assured spike he was fine and was not told of rairtys close call wirh death. There was more then enough trama for a single day. Then as the group started to chat among themselves spike burped. As he gave out a belch a scroll fell to the ground. Twilight used her magic to levitate the parchment in front of her.
She slowly read it before her eyes went wide. She then slowly put down the scroll."Uh The princesses are coming tomorrow.....To meet rex. Fuck." Rex's raised a brow. Twilight seemed pretty worried.
"Ok so some pony royalty wants to meet me. Whats the big fucking deal. They don't frighten me ." The girls all gave him a deadpan stare. Twilight the hoof palming her face.
"Rex we have all learned to tolerate an accept your uh less desirable habbits but..... well do you think you can talk to royalty with oh I do know. Swearing!" He had to admit.
The girl had made a pretty good point.

ponyville a couple days later  
The last few days have been kinda boring for rex. Not that it was a bad thing. He ended spending most of his time helping the girls run errands for the dreaded talent show. He was with applejack at the moment as he helped put the finishing touches on the stage.
The stage was just outside ponyville but had plenty of seating for everyone. He was suprised how quickly the 8 of them got things set up. The 8 being the main 6 himself and spike. He whipe the sweat from his brow when applejack spoke up. "So sugercube did you decide what yer doin yet?" Her question was a familiar one. The last couple days since they decided they were doing a talent show has been filled with the same damn question.  
"Yes" he responded rather hesitately.
"Gonna tell me sugercube?" He simply gave her a deadpan stare. She crossed her forelegs. She knew he wouldn't tell her. Truth was she was sure if he had the chance he would ditch the entire show. The only thing stopping him was the fact that at least 3 ponies could now teliport him back. 4 if we count rairty.
He quickly stood up and started making his way to the backstage area. He made no effort to talk to anyone else now. This didn't go unnoticed. Especially by pinkie who immediately took a seat next to him. They sat there for awhile. Rex was honestly suprised pinkie hadn't said a word to him. She happily greeted other contestants who arrived but still hadn't even addressed the human next to her. It took him awhile to realize but she was completely ignoring him. Since he met pinkie she never failed to greet him before. Now she was refusing to look at him.
He move his head to look at her an she clearly turned away. "Uh pinkie are you mad at me?" He quietly asked the question completely unsure of what he was doin. Pinkie then looked ahead still not facing him.  
Her awnsering being a very quick.   
"Yes."
He stared at the side of her head a loss for words. "But why? I didn't do anything!" She then finally looked at him with a frown. The sight felt like a hit to the gut.
"Because your mad. Your my freind and if your upset so am I." He blinked rapidly for a moment. Her flawless obviously lost on him.  
He took a moment to think. Then responded.
"Ok so if I want you to not be mad at me for being mad then? what do you want something?" She made a bigger and sillyer frown. It was honestly kinda cute. Really cute it was like a kitten trying to play angry.
"If you want me to stop being angry then tell me. Whats wrong! Whats got you more sour then normal?" Rex sighed at her comment. He thought about just ignoring her since that should be easy enough. But he didn't wan't to. He knew these girls were growing on him.
As her mane started to deflate he relented. "Because I don't really wanna show off my talent." His response was short but his words carried a weight that made pinkie flinch. She then moved her hoof to his hand nudging it slightly. She didn't say a word. Which was weird for Pinkie. But despite not speaking he knew she wanted more.
"When I was a kid I used to sing a lot. Wanted to do it for a living. But things didn't go that way. I gave up on that path a long time ago."  
She laid her head on his arm. Her natural warmth radiating into him. It was pleasant.
"So why not just do something else rexy? I understand if you dont wan't to sing but you must have something you wanna do." He just sighed an shook his head no. In truth he hadn't really picked up that many skills over the years.
He only learned a a few skills related to his jobs. Waiting tables an such. "No I don't really. Honestly its this or nothing pinks."  
He sighed as the pink mare held his arm in her hooves. He looked forward as ponies made Their way to the stage. He could hear most of them getting applause.
Pinkie thought to herself for a moment. She wanted to help her favorite human. Then a thought came to her. "Hey rexy what are you gonna sing?" Her question hung in the air for a second. The truth was he hadn't really thought this far ahead. His silence made her giggle. "Well? Dont leave me in suspense silly."
He honestly didn't know how to awnser. "I Don't know pinkie. I know alot of songs but nothing really fits." He sighed as pinkie gently taps his arm. She had an infections simile
"Well whatever you do I know it will be great. Just sing from your heart." Her name was then called to appear on stage. She quickly gave him a hug before suddenly giving him a peck on the cheek. By some miracle he didn't slap her. She walked away as he stared.
"Fucking ponies." His tone had a large degree of annoyance. But his face had a small smile. These girls were something else. Soon his name was called as he stepped onto the stage.
The entire town had gathered. Above them in a low hanging cloud was celestia an luna. He swore he saw the former stuffing her face with popcorn. In the front row were the main six. His eyes lingers on them. He takes in a gulp of air as he started to sweat. He hasn't sung in public in years. He grabbed the mic an started his song. His sword glowing slight as he did.

His blade began to glow slightly brighter pulsing with color. Pink,blue,orange,yellow,white,then violet.  
The girls found they couldn't remove their eyes from it.
"buck me!  
Im looking the mirrior. So foggy but ive never seen clearer. I dont think anyone can save me and honestly im not really sure I want savin."
The sword would shine brighter drawing Rex's attention. Without stopping his flow he lifted the blade. He saw his reflection looking back at himself. He frowned just slightly. It was still him. Despite everything just him.
"I like to be my own worst enemy. There's no risk if you don't try at anything. So ima just get by in everything. See you in the next life, hope to be a better me. I don'tthin that my heads on straight. Gotta flip it an grip it and go and get an x ray."
The crowd watched in silence as the sword seem to vibrate. As it moved in his grip light seemed to pour out dacing as misty light in the air around him.
"whats wrong with me?i just feel weight, pushing on my chest and squeeze it till I suffocate. Better change my mindset mediate. Its pretty cool that im alive and have better days. I can walk, see ,hear i should Celebrate! Think I should change my mind mabye elevate."
His frown slowly shifted to a smirk as he saw the sword reflecting the past few day to him. He looked happier. Truth was right now he didn't care about going home to a lifeless job. He had friends for the first time in a long time. He repeated the beginning chorus.
The crowd gave out gasps as he waved his blade for a second. The lights continuing to shoot out. He couldn't help it. He felt good. He even added some hand movement to his performance.
"Yeah im kinda stuck betweena rock and a hard place. Do i work hard? Or live at my pace?you're only young once! Yeah thats all great! But I also want a future were im okay! living life is living on that high train. No wait! Its sleeping in on sundays! No wait! Its living with no shame! Well i guess it's different for each of us and thats okay."
His eyes drifted to the mare in front of them. They looked excited. Even fluttershy was smiling brightly. No embarrassment, no holding back. Just smiles and cheers for a freind.
"Well I just wanna be happy! How to get there hmm? Glad that you asked me. I think its different for each of us. Some of of us need work, others need fun! Some of us need purpose to over come! But try to do what you love when its said an done. Cause theres so many differences in each of us. Trust your heart it can show you what you want."
He lifted his sword high as he gestured to the crowd. He purposely changed the lyric from gut to heart as his eyes landed right on pinkie. She blushed heavily. But then he smiled. Not a small smirk or a small grin. A true smile. Not even his resting bitch face could hide it. He looked at the girls. Each of them reason to keep going.
He reapeated the chorus one last time as the lights faded back into the blade. The crowd bursted into Cheers. Rex slowly lowered his blade and went back stage. It was celestia herself who raises her hoof to calm the crowd.
"Well my little ponies it seems we have a winner! The reward is a hundred bits and seven express tickets to the Crystal empires special hearts an hooves days celebration!" The crowd continued there cheers as luna gave her sister the bombastic side eye.
"Sister thats over three months away. And seven tickets your being a little on the noise dear sister." Her comment was quiet enough that only celestia heard. The princesses of the sun just looked way smiling. She knew exactly what she was doing.
Sometime later.
"You can't be serious he allready went home!" Rainbow dash cried out as twilight informed them the news. The cyan pegasus was annoyed as the group wanted to treat the human.
"Im afraid so rainbow dash. Rex said his 'social battery was drained.' Well have to treat him tomorrow after the princesses start their training." The girls groaned disappointed. Well strangely everyone besides pinkie who had a love sick smile on her face.
"Uh sugercube? You ok?" Applejack gently tapped her freind who slowly nodded. Her mind was still on rexs smile. His joy,his expression, his exposed teeth. It was perhaps the greatest smile shes ever seen. In her eyes.
"His simile is dreamy~" rairty spat out her drink as all the girls got a large blush on their faces. Sure they weren't into his simle like pinkie was. But they also had to admit. They really loved seeing him happy.   
With rex
The girls quickly decided to head home. As they did rex started to fall asleep in bed. His thoughts still with the girls. The things he liked most about them echoed in his mind.vPinkies laugh,twilights look of awe at new information, rairtys look of excitement when she starts to work. The look rainbow gives when shes ready to race and Applejacks voice. He hasn't felt his head stir like this in a long time.
But then a familiar ache in his heart formed. A pain he couldn't shake. Memories he'd rather not think of now. He wanted to keep his ponies on his mind yet now all of his thoughts drifted to ....her. He swore as he turned in his rest.
Tears dripped down his face as he fell into the realm of luna. Only this time luna was here......"wait what?"
