The Beauty of The Rock 2: Forever Us Two
Maud could feel the wind blowing through her purple strands of her mane, the nervousness zipping throughout her core. Tonight had to be the night. The perfect night. It had to be perfect. Just like Rarity was.
“Darling!” Maud shot up at the incoming sound of her girlfriend from behind. She immediately turned around, spotting the white unicorn walking up the hill and choosing to meet her halfway. “Hello, Rarity.” The gray mare said as she walked down the hill towards her longterm girlfriend, the white unicorn immediately nuzzling her when she had reached her.
“I’ve been longing for this date all day, darling! I couldn’t stop thinking about it.” Rarity giggled as she and Maud walked up the hill to where Maud once sat. “So you said you had something you wanted to ask of me, yes?”
Maud nodded when she saw her girlfriend sit down and immediately sat beside her. “Mhm. It’s a very special one to ask.”
Rarity smiles, the wind blowing throughout her darker strands of purple curls. She looked incredible to Maud and there was never a time where she wouldn’t. “Whatever it may be, I’m certain you’ll find the best way to ask, Rocky!”
Maud felt like Rarity was egging her own, fuelling her inner confidence. “Darling, you don’t usually bring your saddlebag with you. Is there something in it for me?”
Maud nodded, her turquoise eyes glistening. “Yes. I also must apologise for taking ages on my last expedition. I had to find the perfect geode for Marble’s collection.”
Rarity waves her hoover dismissing Maud’s apology for something she was doing for her sister. “Oh why are you apologising for, dear? You did a nice thing for your sister and Marble is a lovely pony.”
“I’m glad you think so. As for Limestone.. she’s just.. well.. Limestone.” Maud smiled gently; her focus on the white unicorn beside her.
“It takes time for acceptance, dear. She’s just looking out for you. I’m the same with Sweetie Belle after all.” Rarity smiled as she turned away from Maud for a moment, admiring the small town of Ponyville over in the background. “Forgive me for rambling, dear. What was the question you had?”
“Oh right.” Maud took a deep breath, her girlfriend being distracted was perfect and she reached her gray hoof into her saddlebag, pulling out a tiny velvet box and hiding it between her two front legs.
“Rarity?” The sound of her rock enthusiast girlfriend made Rarity turn back to Maud with her sapphire eyes glistening. “Yes, darling?”
Maud took another deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest, though she may not show it, she was nervous. She gave a cough before continuing on. “Rarity, I’ve seen very beautiful things in caves, caverns, on my family’s farm but nothing and I mean nothing compares to you. I always smile knowing you’re going to be there for me and even though I may not be as expressive as most, inside I smile a lot and you’re the only one who does make me smile,”
Rarity’s sapphire eye glistened with tears, some even running down her white fur, wiping them away with a hood. “Maud..”
“There’s more, Rarity. You see, I’ve been wrecking my brain more than any pickaxe or my hooves could to do with any boulder. It’s fulfilling knowing that I feel that strongly about my relationship with you and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Rarity Belle, I love you.”
Rarity sniffled, nuzzling her girlfriend’s gray cheek. “I love you too, Dear..”
Finally, Maud took the time and used a hoof to open the velvet box beneath her before holding it in her mouth, getting on all four of her hooves and kneeling down on her two forelegs. “Rarity Belle, will you marry me?”
Rarity could feel her own heart pounding in her chest, her eyes studying the engagement ring in the tiny box. It was beautiful. It shined with every twinkle under Princess Luna’s moon, tears still trickling down her cheeks. “I.. Maud I’m.. you.. yes..”
Maud’s ears flutter, looking up at her girlfriend. “Pardon?” Had she heard right?
“You heard me, Maudileena. Yes, YES, I will marry you!” Rarity cried happily, staring down at her girlfriend, her sapphire eyes glistening with tears of joy.
Maud’s heart skyrocketed in her chest to the point where she thought it could knock her off her hooves, the gray mare took the ring out of the velvety box and gently placed it around Rarity’s neck with a necklace attached to the ring. “You look so beautiful, Rarity.” Maud said as a tear ran down her own cheek.
“I can’t wait, dear. I’m going to Mrs Rarity Pie someday!”
It had a nice ring to it really. Maud couldn’t wait either. Over the while, she knew she would have to speak about venues, wedding dates, inviting guests and all of that but for now, they just enjoyed the moment as it started.
“Neither can I.” Maud said as she nuzzles her fiancée’s head, careful to not accidentally hurt herself with Rarity’s horn.
“Now.. how about tomorrow we tell Pinkie Pie and your friends? I think she’ll be overexcited.” Maud said, admiring the necklace attached ring around Rarity’s neck.
Rarity nodded happily before kissing Maud’s cheek, leaving a lipstick print after she pulled back. “Gladly! I’ll even wear my fanciest attire. How about the dress I wore at the jewellery in Manehattan? I’ll definitely give it a wash when I go home tonight.”
Maud quietly chuckled, wrapping her forearm around Rarity’s shoulders, admiring the glowing moon above. “Whatever you wear; you’d still be the most beautiful pony in Equestria.”
The white unicorn smiled, a faint blush on her cheek as laid her head on Maud’s shoulder, admiring the moon alongside her.
“Speaking of home, dear.”
“Hm?” Maud glanced down to Rarity, her smile never once leaving her face. “What about it?”
The white unicorn returned Maud’s gaze with a gentle smile of her own. “How about you move into the boutique with me? I’d love to see your face every morning and every night, my dear.”
Maud couldn’t believe it. Getting engaged was one thing but Rarity wanting her to move in? Would her parents be surprised? Would Limestone come down on her like a ton of bricks? Would Pinkie Pie be happy?
“Darling, if you don’t want to it’s okay, I-“
“Yes.”
“Pardon?” Rarity looked up at Maud with surprise. “Yes, I want to move in with you, Rarity. We’re getting married soon, I want to be with you every day and night. I want to be the wife that’ll come back with treasure for you. I wan-“
Rarity chuckled happily, nuzzling Maud’s shoulder. “A simple ‘yes’ would do, dear. It’s official now! You and I are engaged and living together soon. It’s perfect, my love.”
Maud sighed gently, never once did her smile leave her lips. “I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you, Rarity.”
“Anything for you, Rocky.”

The Beauty of The Rock 2: Forever Us Two
Rarity could hardly wait! Today was the day that she would bring the good news to her closest friends! She knew Pinkie Pie would be over to the moon and without a doubt she would throw a party.
She had met up with Twilight and the others at the local spa for some much needed relaxation time before she had to start prepping for her upcoming nuptials.
“Hey Rarity!” Twilight called over to the incoming white unicorn, the other four ponies standing outside the spa with the familiar face of Spike. Rarity waved gleefully over to the purple alicorn, her sapphire eyes glistening in uncovered excitement. “Twilight, darling! Hello hello! I’m so sorry for the wait, I’ve been so distracted.”
Twilight chuckled and dismissed the apology with her hoof. “No apology needed, Rarity, you’re fine. You said you wanted to meet up with all of us here, yes?”
“Indeed, Twilight dear. I have such wonderful news!” Rarity gleamed, her smile never once leaving her face. It even caught the attention of Pinkie Pie. “Ooooh! Have you sold a dress that was so sparkly warkly that Princess Celestia was even impressed?”
“Unfortunately no, Pinkie. Though I’d always wish. It’s much more than a dress situation, dear and it does involve you.” Rarity nodded to Pinkie Pie who just hopped up and down. “Yippie!” Pinkie cried in excitement.
Just like that, Lotus unlocked the door before opening it and ushering the six ponies and dragon inside with a blue hoof. “Come in, all!”
It didn’t take long for Lotus to escort the entourage towards the hot tub, pouring in some lavender scented bubble bath.
Rarity, Fluttershy and Twilight found comfort in the hot bubbly water, relaxing and feeling their separate inner troubles melting away.
“So what’s the big news, Rarity?” Fluttershy asked as she turned to the white unicorn. Rarity’s eyes shot open as she recalled the reason she invited her six friends here in the first place! “Oh yes, thank you for reminding me, darling.”
“As you all know, Maud and I have been dating for a few good years now and we couldn’t be happier.” Rarity gushed over her longtime girlfriend, her sapphire orbs twinkling. “Yeah, Ah saw ya both hangin’ by the hills last night. Ah didn’t see much, just saw ya cuddlin’ and all.” Applejack smiled up at her friend, laying on her stomach as Aloe massages her back. “Why?”
Rarity was trying her hardest to not show her excitement but found herself unable to handle it any longer. “Me and my beloved rocky are… engaged!”
The atmosphere in the room changed to shock, surprise, a frown, and an excited squeal! Pinkie Pie looked like she was about to burst and Rainbow Dash’s jaw could almost hit the floor. “You… and Maud.. MARRIED?!” The pink pony yelled in excitement, her grin growing rapidly as she stared at the white unicorn. “Uhh.. yes? Yes, me and Maud are engaged..”
Pinkie Pie immediately jumped into the water, wrapping her arms around Rarity, locking her in a tight hug. “I’m so happy for you! This is the best news ever!”
Twilight chuckled as she pulled Pinkie Pie away from Rarity her magical hold. “Congratulations, Rarity! This is wonderful.”
Fluttershy was even clapping her hooves together. “I can’t wait, Rarity. This’ll be as magical as Shining and Cadence’s own wedding.”
The six ponies all engaged in a group hug but unfortunately Spike couldn’t look anymore upset than he already did. It was hard enough for him when Rarity and Maud started to officially date but with them getting married? It was harder and he could feel his little heart breaking. Spike sniffled, wiping away a single tear. “Yeah… congrats, Rarity..”
Twilight glanced down at Spike, sensing his heartbreak. “Girls, we’ll be right back. Come on, Spike..” Twilight informed her friends as she exited the hug and took Spike out of the room. As the door closed; she looked down at the brokenhearted dragon with sympathy in her eyes. “Spike, are you-“ “NO!”
Twilight flinched gently as Spike’s cry. It hurt the purple alicorn dearly to see Spike like this. It broke her heart. “Now I’ll never ever have a chance with Rarity..” Spike sniffled, the purple alicorn immediately cuddling him and stroking over his scaled back. “Spike, don’t cry.. she still cares for you. I don’t want you to be passive aggressive towards Maud just because she’s engaged to Rarity..”
“I know. I’ve learned my lesson when I made Maud leave Ponyville but.. it hurts so bad, Twilight..” Spike gave a hiccup as he sobbed.
“Spike, I know I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: there is some creature who is perfect for you out there. Maybe you’ve met them already or maybe you haven’t yet. You have a lot of time to find love, Spike. Just because one pony didn’t return your feelings doesn’t mean no creature will. You’ll be okay in time. Do you trust Maud enough to make her happy? Don’t you want Rarity to be happy?” Her words were somewhat comforting. Twilight always knew how to cheer him up. “You’ve had feelings for Rarity for so long and it’s okay to be sad, it’s okay to feel unhappy.”
Spike sniffled, pulling away from the hug. The young dragon sighed in defeat. As much as he liked Rarity, Twilight had a point. “Yeah.. you’re right. I just still wished she liked me back..”
“Let me tell you something, Spike. Do you remember when I had a brief crush on Flash Sentry from the human world?” Twilight smiled at the young dragon as she sat on the floor, patting the floor next to her so Spike would join.
“Yeah? You really liked Flash, didn’t you?” Spike said, wiping a tear as he sat beside the purple alicorn. “What does this have to do with my feelings for Rarity?”
“I knew despite my feelings, Flash and I wouldn’t work. He was in his own world and I was in mine. It took a while but I eventually got over him and now look at me. I’m dating Tempest Shadow now and I couldn’t be happier. It just takes time, Spike.”
‘It just takes time, Spike.’
The young dragon gave a sad smile. It admittedly comforted him that he would find someone but it did hurt that it wouldn’t be Rarity despite how he strongly felt about her.
“There’s that smile.” Twilight gave a soft smile in return to Spike’s. “How about after the spa appointment; we go out and have lunch? I think it could make you feel much better.”
“Yeah, that’ll be great..” Spike sighed before standing up. “Thanks, Twilight.” The purple alicorn nodded as she too stood up.
“Anytime, Spike. Remember what I said?”
“I’ll be okay in time.” Spike nodded as he and Twilight returned to the rest of their still celebrating friends.
‘Please make her happy, Maud.’
