Chapter 13: Magic Symbols.

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Twilight was in her library with Spike, looking over some magic spells that she had... uh... "politely borrowed" from Bad Guy's base and despite the actual effects of these spells, they aren't Dark Magic, which makes her wonder what kind of magic really is dark magic.

These spells were all listed with an element attribute, even if it had none like Silence. That's something else she noticed, the spell names are simple. Very simple. Silence is a good example but others not so clear. Burst is a small explosion spell, Seal is a "skill" disabling ability, and a water spell just called Bubble. Yet Twilight has managed to cast none of them! Why can't she cast them?! They aren't hard spells! She heard that Brendan and Jacob could use magic and yet she can't even do these simple spells!

"Twilight... you took spells that you didn't know if it was even possible for you to use them?" Sweetie Belle said from the entrance to Twilight's lab, Batty flying nes to her head.

"Uhhh, maybe I did, but... hypothetically, if I did, how would I be able to use such spells?" Twilight asked as Sweetie Belle shook her head.

"Twilight, I wouldn't know. Bad Guy says that the ability to use that magic is giving by the god Brendan so... ask him, I guess," Sweetie Belle said before leaving.

Twilight sighed as she looked to a mirror that clearly wasn't there before, a mirror with the same insignia that is engraved into the Ultimate Trimmer. The godly Brendan's insignia.

Twilight approached the mirror as it asked for an ID to call, a post-it containing the number 05202022. She reached out and carefully drew each digit and when she was finished.... "Yello, the creator of the universe here, how may I help you?" Godly Brendan said, if it wasn't for his wings, it would be completely impossible to tell that Twilight was currently looking at a literally god.

"Uh... h-hey. I was wondering you could..." Twilight paused for a moment as she showed the spell pages she currently had, "... tell me how to use these?" She said as the god looked thoughtful.

The god Brendan looked at Twilight's status menu(which used an RPG maker user interface) and it showed something he expected, the "Skills" menu with her native magic being within it, and no "Magic" menu. "Sorry to burst your bubble but... you don't have the right. I could shedule a battle with a super tough enemy to see if you're worthy but it could take weeks to be ready... judging from your face, you're right where you want to be and are desprite for new magicks. Alright, name your price and I'll see if it's enough to appease me and thus give you the right to that magic," Godly Brendan said with a smirk.

Twilight looked at him, that smirk not bodding well in her heart. She was looking around until she found the vial of the Mark of Insanity, Jacob had given it to her to keep safe... she picked it up with her magic, and showed it to Godly Brendan, "I'll give the Mark of Insanity," Twilight stated causing Godly Brendan to start thinking.

"Hmm, do I or don't I? That is the question... hmm..." Godly Brendan said in thought, "One part says to do it because of what's being offered, the other says not to because a big enough offering... so many elements to make use of..." he saw the eager look on Twilight's face and instinctively chuckled. He knew that Twilight really wanted the magic he gifted others with so rarely. He chuckled as he snapped and all six Mane 6 members were right in front of his physical form.

I stared at the six ponies my magic had brought to be in front of me... oh how I love being a god, back to the topic... Twilight wanted to use my magicks, she'll have to earn it. Her friends sat confused before beholding my form, unlike before where they only saw me in a form befitting their world, they were seeing the truth. "Greetings, my little ponies, I'm sure you all are confused as to where you are but I'll answer your questions in a moment first..." I said as I swiped downwards in the air and suddenly rearranged the room to make it a mismash of areas they knew, similiar to the final rift of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Oh, and don't worry, you'll return to the third person view soon, just read on since you've read this far anyways. I've got some plot twists ready.

"What the actual hay?!" Rainbow Dash yelled as I chuckled and snapped and the skybox changed to a wonderful view of the two worlds I created.

"Look at this, everyone. The two worlds I had created are getting closer than ever before, it's only a matter of time before they merge entirely but even still, that matters not. I gifted you six with special traits that made you different from others of your kind, and these traits have nothing to do with your elements," I said as I started sitting on a non-existent chair while twirling a blank element that I had yet to decide what to do with, "You six are the only native Equestrians gifted with the power to wield the full power of the Ultimate Trimmer but you six also have deeper, individual powers. Ones you'd have to unlock. Pinkie already unlocked her's," I added, well aware I was refering to her "Pinkie-ness".

However, all this ponies just got interested in what I meant. So I snapped and showed the familiar faces of Bad Guy, Jacob, and my mortal self as these six knew them. "All heroes and villains I make are given special attributes even if they don't even realize it. Bad Guy's ability to command monsters? I gave him that. My mortal self's sheer tactical prowess? I gave him that. Jacob's Observationalist ability? You get the gist. All of you have an ability to unlock as well, Pinkie has her Pinkie-ness as the ability I gifted her. Don't think that you all have powers to defy reality though, I give those out sparingly," I explained to them as I snapped and made five doors appear, each one with the element of one who had yet to find their special power on it. And so I let them go into their rooms and live out the moment that they have to go through to unlock those hidden powers.

Back to the third person stuff now, yippee!

Twilight entered her room, noticing how similiar it had in asthetic to the Golden Oaks Library. She stared forward at the sword she promised to take care of and grabbed it in her magic, something she hadn't done since the fateful day she and her friends became heroes. It reacted in an unexpected way, its appearence shifted to better match Twilight.

When it was finished, the sword was now a deep purple with the magic within it made even stronger. "Interesting," Twilight said as she swung it once. A paper on the table showed several symbols, and Twilight recognized a few of them.

The symbol in the center was, as Bad Guy called a similiar version somewhere, "The Symbol of Darkness" though no one knew what it implied. It was just kinda whereever evil stuff happened that wasn't tied to Bad Guy. The outer circle's top had four side-by-side symbols, called "Villainy, Tamer, Warrior, and Crafter" respectively. All of them were called in a specific color, green, pink, orange, and red respectively. The right side had six symbols called, "Harp, Mouse, Knife, Data, Hook, and Blade," all also glowing in a color respective to the symbol: red, purple, lime, bright orange, dark orange, and white.

The left side had the cutie marks of Twilight and her friends yet only Pinkie's was glowing in her bright bright pink... then the two at the bottom. "Sour" and "Thief"... they were glowing. Thief was glowing yellow but... interestingly... Sour was glowing the same pink as Sweetie Belle... that doesn't bode well.

Twilight stopped looking at the paper after Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on it started glowing light blue. As Twilight observed the room, she noticed that none.of the books were the familiar ones, they were new. Entirely. She opened a green book with a blank cover and found out that it replied memories from Bad Guy's point of view.

Dad came home again, I know he won't be pleased with what I did but I don't give a fuck. I'm not the "nice guy" he wants me to be. He came into the house, his wings close to him. "... Nice Guy," he said, calling me by the idiotic name he gave me, "I'm disappointed in you, I expected much better of you. Not only do you assult someone, but you do it in a way that no one could call fair, but then you completely disregarded my wish to never see you again and came back anyways!" Dad said as he stomped his foot.

Dad never understood that nice guys finish last, and this is a dog eat dog world. I was never planning on being fair, if I made an ally, I'd stab them in the back the moment they lost usefulness, regardless of who they are. Everything and everyone is just a stepping stool towards world domination. "Heh, you know dad, you're pathetic. You had everything in your grip and gave it all away in the hopes that I'd turn out better... but you know what they say... Bad dad, bad kid," I said as I walked out, having no reason to argue with his dad anymore.

I was sitting in the couch, finally glad Rarity was through removing my eyepatch... my eye still hurt from her pulling futilely. Like, Rarity, I fucking know it makes me look dark and evil, THAT'S WHAT I AM! Ugh, whatever, grabbing a book to read, I knew I needed a plan. I was good at plans, I may not be allowed to summon monsters but I can do my damnest. Summer Sun Celebration's in five days so I could make use of two recon days and two execution days that should be good enough.

Shit shit shit! A sixth pony, a purple unicorn who just reeks of godly energy, just arrived in town! Sweetie Belle has been gone all day and Nightmare Moon and I are FUCKING PANICKING! I hurried to the Castle of the Two Sisters in the Everfree Forest while creating shitty hurried traps to stop them but it wasn't working! Now, me and Nightmare Moon are pacing wondering what the actual fuck to do! I PROMISED MYSELF I WOULD WIN AND I'M FUCKING LOSING!

Deep breaths, deep breaths Bad Guy it'll be fi-... they just arrived, I rushed into a room before they could see and started drawing up a summoning circle but then Sweetie Belle came to... help me... why? Her own sister was among those that despised me... why is she helping me? "Uh... thanks," I said after she finished, I started pouring mana into it but then... the door opened. The Ultimate Trimmer held in the purple unicorn's grip... and I knew that my fate was sealed. "Damn, guess I'm dying again... ahaha... oh by Brendan's name, am I flipped... go ahead, just do it... I know you're going to," I said as I noticed their confused faces... the purple unicorn stepped forward but before she could do anything-

Twilight closed the book, knowing Bad Guy on a more personal level felt... wrong. Maybe that's why Bad Guy never opened up to anypony but Sweetie Belle...

She put that book up and found a purple book with a mouse cursor on the cover, not that Twilight knew the imagery.

I looked at my two brothers as we jumped over another gap... the familiar land we knew is gone and we will not see it again. I held my mouse with a heavy promise to bring death to any enemy that stands in my way. Jacob was the same with his controller and Matthew was the same with his magic blade.

We were actually having fun with this adventure, I promised my brothers that we'd return home but... part of me kinda doesn't want to since we're having so much fun! I may be 12 but is it a damn good 12th year since my birth!

Looking behind me again, I noticed my brothers had taken a rest, and I joined them. "Brendan... is it... possible we never return home?" Matthew asked me with tears starting to well up.

I quickly gave my practically baby brother a hug, "Don't worry, Matt, we will. I promise you, and even if we don't, at least we have each other," I told him... it hurt me to have to be half-hearted in what I said but... he needs the hope that he can go home... back to our family. Matt looked convinced as his tears dried and some Tablet +s appeared-

Twilight closed the book. She just saw Brendan's memories and she never wanted to again. She figured opening the other books would just lead her to learn more about people who don't want her to see their memories.

She looked at the paper, she saw all the symbols but hers and the Symbol of Darkness glowing. She lifted the paper and found a... trivia panel? What's the enemy type Brendan and his brothers encountered after he gave Matthew a false hope? She knew that answer! "Tablet +! A stronger more complex version of normal Tablets capable of buffing nearby enemies!" She said, unsure of where the boosted knowledge came from.

What's Bad Guy's original name before he became Bad Guy? Twilight immediately said "Nice Guy" and it was correct.

How many symbols surround the Symbol of Darkness? Twilight thought about it. 12 are at the sides, 2 at the bottom... add the four from the top... "18 symbols, and they are Villainy, Tamer, Warrior, Crafter, Harp, Mouse, Knife, Data, Hook, Sword, Magic, Laughter, Loyalty, Generousity, Honesty, Kindness, Thief, and Sour!" Twilight said getting a checkmark.

Do you know what you are?

Twilight thought about that for a moment... before noticing what she was looking at. Books showing memories, answers being more complex than needed... "A mind reader. A unicorn mind reader," she said but she got an X.

Look at your sides, Twilight.

Twilight looked and realized... she ascended. Accidently casting Burst when she realized it. And now... all 18 were glowing.

It's time to reach the end.
