Twilight is tired. An alicorn does not age. An alicorn does not die. Eternity is their's, whether they like it or not. Immortality is as much a curse as a blessing, and one that cannot be ended, even by death.

Twilight has existed for millennium. Her friends are long dead, and the friends after those, on and on for generations. Even equestria has long since fallen, and she is so tired. What meaning is there when a 1000 years mean nothing. When a century means as little as a blink of an eye.
