It made her tremble to remember
He, he had offered her a deal
Coins rattled against fate’s table

In all of time, in all of life
There are things that should never be
Lo an Alicorn cried that day

His fate sealed, she signed her name
What was hope worth if for this
Darkness crumbled to Twilight's quill

Of all the tragic days

Fate cried that day, fate cried

Equestria had been saved
The darkness had been razed
Banners waved and trumpets flared

And it was a tragic day
Lo a day of mourning
The day twilight forgot her friends

There was not another way
