Chapter one

Son can you please do it again we need a better reading?”

“Ok dad here I go!” as his son started to use one of his “abilities” as his father looked at diagrams on a computer watching what he was doing

“Was that better?” said his son asked

“Yes much better rocket! I think were done here for today we can continue tomorrow. Your abilities have grown and gotten better!” said Rockets father

“Can I go and see Uncle Rumford?” asked Rocket “he said he was gonna teach me a new spell I can use!”

“I guess so go on ahead I’ll see you at dinner.” said Rockets father

“OK! Thanks.” said Rocket

As Rocket raced up the stairs to the main area Rumford was waiting for him at the top. Noticing his brother step into the office while Rocket wasn’t looking he had a sickening feeling that the tests he was putting his son through would only get worse.

As rockets father stepped into his of office he realized he wasn’t alone well he was kind of not alone the intruder was in the computer screen not in the actual room.

“Hello Galileo.” Said the voice in the screen

“What do you want?!”Said Galileo obviously not happy with the “intruder”

“I want to congratulate you on your breakthrough.” Said the screen

“What breakthrough?!” Yelled Galileo

“The one with your son of course. We’ve been monitoring your experiments daily and we think you’re doing a great job!” said the screen

“What do you really want?” asked Galileo

“What I want is your research” said the screen

“What makes you think I’ll hand it over?”

“Because we can put you in a place of power, were not the only people with connections you know.” Replied the screen “ If you can obtain your sons powers we may be able to over throw the queen and take control of this god forsaken country!” the screen explained

“Fine ill increase my research but if any harm comes of my son then I’ll stop!” replied Galileo

“That’s understandable but we expect physical experiments within the month.” Said the screen “goodbye Galileo” and the screen went blank

“What are u doing brother” said Rumford startling Galileo

“I didn’t realize you were listening” he replied

“You should damn well expect me to be listening! Physical experimentations within the month you do realize this is your son you’re talking about!” said Rumford

“But didn’t you hear him we could be the rulers of this country! That’s gotta stand for something? Right?” said Galileo

“If you were the man I thought you were then it should not stand for something! This is not your wife who knows what you’re doing this is your son! A 13 year old boy!” yelled Rumford “do you really want power over family!”

“If it means helping countless others and restoring actual power to this country then yes! I think were done here please leave and look after rocket until dinner.” Said Galileo

“Fine, but we aren’t done here!” said Rumford as he made his way to the door “please I beg of you don’t hurt your son like you did your wife. I loved Helen as much as you I loved her like a sister. Please don’t let history repeat.” And he was gone

“Why must I have an angel and a devil on my shoulders?” asked Galileo as he looked at a picture of him and his wife on their honeymoon

Rumford and Galileo Raven live on a hill done the road of rustic road. They were the longest living residents on the road there house passed down from generations. They lived in a three story mansion with 50 rooms and a laboratory in the basement. Galileo is a biological scientist his brother Rumford is an architectural engineer he helped add some parts to the family mansion the three of them live together with 10 maids and 10 butlers and two cooks that come and go for the family meals.

“I’m back rocket so what have you been doing my little nephew?” asked Rumford

“I’ve been drawing sketches of what I’ll contribute to the family manor. Want to see?” asked Rocket

“Sure, let’s see here, a pool, a basketball court and a studio. Very creative I can’t wait to see it for myself.” said Rumford

“Thanks uncle Rumford but I’ll have more stuff to add this is just a rough. So what’s keeping dad so long tonight?” asked Rocket he had a little meeting with work on his computer he should be up soon for dinner when he finishes his notes.” Said Rumford trying to hide the sadness in his voice

“Oh, ok that’s fine want to have another competition on the new dance machine? I wanna try to beat you this time.” Said Rocket

“Oh really, well we’ll see come on lets go to the game room and you can have another try.” Said Rumford obviously happy for the distraction

After three rounds of dancing it was obvious who was the better dance because they were just too close to call but Rumford came out on top the third round and had to take a break, but by that time Galileo was done sorting his papers and watching them finish there last round.

“So Rumford wins again.” Said Galileo as they finished the round

“It seems so. I need a break I’m exhausted. I suppose dinner is ready then?” asked Rumford

“About 10 minutes left before it is ready. Shall I take your place brother?” asked Galileo wanting to try out the new machine for the first time

“Sure go ahead I’m tired and need a break anyway. Are you tired Rocket?” asked Rumford

“I think I can go one more around to beat my old man, aye dad.” Asked Rocket

“I think your right but let’s see for real.” Said Galileo as he pressed the start button and began the next round of dancing
