Local News

Above the streets of New York, everyone was busy going about their business, and also try to live life one day at a time.

Meanwhile, from below the sewers, the Turtles were busy doing their own thing.

Mikey was busy watching TV by randomly changing channels, bored out of his mind, Casey and Raph was busy punching a practice dummy to get his frustrations out of his system, Donnie was busy working on his science with the chemicals in his laboratory, April was doing her homework, and Leo was busy meditating in the dojo.

As Leo focused, he noticed his phone was ringing. He picked it up, wondering who it was.

“Hello?” said Leo. He lit up and knew who it was. “Karai, hey, how’s it going? You’re already on your way back? Alright, we’ll wait for you at the airport. See you then.”

Leo ended the call and stood up. Just as he walked out and was about to tell his brothers and their friends, the Rainbooms, Fugitoid, Keno, Dazzlings, and the Shadowbolts walked in.

“Hey girls, good timing.” Said Leo.

“What is it, Leo?” asked Twilight as they gave a quick hug before everyone else regrouped.

“Karai just called,” said Leo, “She and Shinigami are on their way back from Japan.”

“That’s great.” Said Sunset.

“Wait, what was she doing there?” said a confused Rainbow.

“Don’t y’all remember, Rainbow?” said Applejack, “She and Shinigami left for Japan so that Karai can pay respects to her mother.”

“Oh yeah,” said Rainbow, “It’s gotta be a bummer, going from one place to another just to visit your relatives instead of being close by. At least we can still pay respect to Splinter.”

They looked at Rainbow surprised.

“Wait,” said Casey, “You’ve been going to Splinter’s grave?”

“Yeah, once a week.” Said Rainbow. “I mean he did teach us everything he knew, figured I’d owe him that much.”

The others couldn’t help but feel touched by Rainbow’s actions. Raph turned to the Shadowbolts.

“So, what are you girls doing here?” asked Raph.

“Well, we figured we never adventured with you guys more often, so we figured we’d catch up for lost time.” Said Indigo Zap.

“And we never hung out that much.” Said Lemon Zest.

“You also have a habit of going onto adventures and meet famous people without including us to go with you.” Said Sugarcoat.

“Yeah, sorry about that.” Said Keno, “Things just tends to happen on a whim.”

“And Fugitoid,” said Donnie, “I’m surprised that you came along? Aren’t you looking after Sunset’s apartment?”

“I let him come along,” said Sunset, “He felt a bit cooped up at my place, and I asked Fluttershy if the animal shelter could look after Ray whilst I’m away.”

Sunset looked at Fugitoid with a dry expression and kept her arms crossed. “That, and to make sure that he wasn’t going to throw another wild party in my apartment.”

Everyone looked at Fugitoid flabbergasted whilst the latter looked sheepish and rubbed the back of his head.

“Wow, didn’t know you were a party animal.” Teased Sour Sweet.

“Well, I was bored and wanted to have some excitement.” Said Fugitoid sheepishly.

“Ugh, come on!!”

They noticed Mikey had switched to the news by mistake.

“Wrong channel.” Said Mikey, but just before he could press it, Rainbow noticed something.

“Wait!!” said Rainbow as she rushed over. Everyone wondered what it was.

On the news, they saw many people were standing in front of a police blockade, many of them protesting on wanting to get past. Whilst from behind a large hill, a large explosion appeared from behind.

Can you see the area behind me beneath the red tinted sky?” said the newswoman, “That is what’s left of Racoon city, after the military fired a missile at it.

Then the next news appeared, showing a news anchorman.

According to unofficial reports,” said the man, “The missile was allegedly nuclear. If this is indeed the case, then there’s little hope in finding survivors among this city’s one hundred thousand inhabitants.

The next news showed other news.

Thanks to the united efforts of both the American and Russian military,” said the news anchorman, showing a woman being taken away. “President Svetlana Belikova of the Eastern Slav Republic, has been arrested for mass murder, fraud, terrorism, and in possession of dangerous chemical weapons.

The next news showed other news, of the president and the 70 thousand occupants.

Shortly after that, Adam Benford, the President of the United States, along with the seventy thousand occupants of the town of Tall Oaks have been reported killed in action in a recent terrorist attack by a group known as Neo Umbrella, led my Secretary Simmons…

Then came over the next news.

Thanks to the efforts of the BSAA, the terrorist of Las Plagas have been thwarted and New York was saved from a virus attack…

“Wait, what?!” said Leo as everyone came forward.

The leader, known as Glenn Arias, a former CIA agent turned bio-terrorist, along with many colleagues, and gained immense power after the fall of both TRICELL and Neo-Umbrella.

“How did we not know that?!” said Donnie.

“Hey, look at the date.” Said Spike.

“That’s when we were visiting the Mighty Ducks.” Said Pinkie Pie.

Then came the next news.

I am currently speaking to head of a new pharmaceutical company, Pharma Corps, owned by Bartholomew Martin.” Said the anchorwoman, “Who is well known for his research in curing all known diseases, including finding a latest cure, COVID-19.

Nice to be here.” Said Bartholomew.

I hear you’re planning to open a new company in New York.” Said the woman.

You heard correct.”

May I ask, why?”

Well, as you’ve known, ever since they heard about me finding a cure for COVID-19, the US government, along with the rest of the world, hired my company to make new forms of medicine to help counter the bio-terrorists attacks. From poisonous gas, to radiation poisoning. Even the Russian government asked us to help finding a way to get rid of the radiation at Chernobyl. And seeing that New York is home to the United Nations, I felt like to do my part. It’s been tough, but one thing they should know, when it comes to helping the innocent, I do love a challenge.”

“A challenge you say?”

Every day, as you’ve no doubt known,” said Bartholomew, “We encounter one problem after the other, many forms of diseases happening. I grew up near a place that was quarantined with the smallpox outbreak. And by some miracle, I was able to help find a cure for that. If I can do that, then I can sure as heck try to do the same for the others. Hence why my company had reached out to TerraSave and a few other organizations, so that we can work together into saving the world instead of against each other.”

That’s quite the goal and achievement.”

No, not goal and achievement.” Said Bartholomew, “Justice and Peace of Mind, so that we can sleep better at night, knowing we can sleep and live to the best of our abilities.”

They turned off the news and were surprised.

“Whoa, such a good man.” Said Fluttershy.

“I don’t know,” said Raph, “Usually when one scientist promises something, we always get stabbed in the back.”

“Speaking of experiences?” asked Sour Sweet.

“You have no idea.” Said the Rainbooms and Turtles.

“Though, what about this…Racoon city, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it.”

“Ah have.” Said Applejack. “Some of mah relatives lived there. Ten of em in fact. Granny was pretty broken up about that.”

“Same with dad,” said April, “He also had relatives there.”

Leo looked at the time and said, “Come on, let’s meet Karai at the airport.”

Everyone soon left the lair and went straight to the airport.
