Equestria Girls: The Series (Season 1)
Rise of the Sirens (Part 2)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe stone halls of the Dazzlings’ ancient monastery echoed with a chilling silence, broken only by the soft shuffle of boots and the low hum of malevolent energy that coursed through the air. The Rainbooms sat huddled together in a small, dimly lit chamber, their wrists bound with enchanted chains that shimmered with a dark, oily magic. Outside the iron-barred window, the night sky stretched endlessly, stars twinkling indifferently to the suffering below.
Adagio Dazzle, the leader of the Sirens, stood by a large, ornate window overlooking the monastery’s courtyard. Her two sisters, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk, stood at her side, their eyes gleaming with the same malicious excitement.
“We’re almost ready,” Adagio purred, her voice smooth and predatory. “With the students and staff of Canterlot High under our control, we’ll march through that portal and take Equestria for ourselves.”
Aria snickered, tossing her twin pigtails over her shoulder. “Equestria doesn’t stand a chance. And with the Rainbooms drained of their magic… it’s practically gift-wrapped for us.”
Sonata clapped her hands gleefully. “Oooh, I can’t wait! We’re going to be so powerful! I hope we get tacos after this!”
“Really, Sonata?” Aria asked in sarcastic manner.
“What? I like tacos you know.” Sonata replied, sheepishly.
In the cell, the Rainbooms struggled against their restraints, but every attempt to summon their magic was futile. Rainbow Dash, usually full of fight, was the first to slam her fist against the cold stone wall in frustration. “This can’t be happening! Our magic… it’s gone!”
Twilight Sparkle, her face pale with worry, examined the mystical chains. “It’s not just the chains. There’s some kind of dark magic flowing through this place. It’s draining us, bit by bit. Every second we stay here, we get weaker.”
Applejack’s jaw clenched. “We’ve gotta get outta here and stop those varmints before they reach the portal.”
But as the Rainbooms tried to formulate a plan, they felt the oppressive weight of their fading strength. Even Pinkie Pie’s usual spark of optimism was dimmed. Their magic wasn’t just weakened; it was being devoured.
Suddenly, the heavy door to their cell creaked open, and the Dazzlings strode in, grinning from ear to ear.
“Look at you all,” Adagio taunted, her voice dripping with mock sympathy. “So pathetic. Once, you stood in our way. Now, you’re just… powerless.”
The Rainbooms stood as tall as they could, even as they felt their bodies weaken. Rainbow Dash growled, “We’ll never let you get away with this!”
“Oh, but you don’t have a choice,” Aria sneered. “Your magic is gone. You’ve already lost.”
Sonata giggled. “Face it, you’re donezo!”
The Rainbooms exchanged glances, knowing they had no fight left in them. As the last of their hope slipped away, the Dazzlings threw their heads back and laughed, a haunting, maniacal sound that echoed through the chamber like the toll of a death knell.
Cue Song: "No Hope (Lament of the Rainbooms)"
Their voices weaved together in a sorrowful, haunting harmony, a lament of defeat. The Rainbooms, once filled with the bright light of friendship and magic, slumped to the ground, their spirits as crushed as their bodies.
Meanwhile, far from the Dazzlings' stronghold, Sunset Shimmer awoke in a strange, empty void. The world around her was pure white, featureless, yet she felt a deep connection to the magic flowing around her. Floating orbs of light drifted in the air, each one pulsating with an ethereal energy. As she stood, disoriented, she felt an overwhelming sense of déjà vu.
"I’ve been here before," she murmured, her voice echoing through the emptiness. Her mind raced as she tried to remember where she had seen this place. Then it hit her—this was the same limbo where she and the Rainbooms had been teleported into via Juniper Montage’s hand mirror in the past! A place between worlds.
Suddenly, one of the orbs flared with light, and Sunset gasped as a vision flooded her mind.
She saw her friends—the Rainbooms—trapped in the Dazzlings’ monastery, their magic being drained into the dark, swirling energy that surrounded the building. Then the vision shifted, showing the Dazzlings leading an army of brainwashed students and teachers from Canterlot High, marching toward the portal outside the school. They were heading straight for Equestria.
“No…” Sunset whispered, her heart pounding in her chest. “I have to stop them. But… how?”
She looked around at the white expanse. There was no obvious exit, no portal, no way out. She was trapped in this strange limbo with no way to reach her friends. But deep down, she knew she had to find a way. She couldn’t let the Dazzlings take over Equestria.
Cue Song: "My Journey"
Sunset’s voice broke the silence as she sang about her determination to save her friends, her growth from a villain to a hero, and her resolve to break free from this place. As she sang, the orbs of light began to pulse in rhythm with her words, responding to her will. She felt a surge of hope rising within her.
With every note, Sunset reached out to the magic around her, trying to harness its power. Slowly, she began to understand. The magic wasn’t just floating aimlessly—it was waiting for her. Waiting for her to believe in herself again, to trust the power of friendship she had come to embody.
The final chords of her song echoed through the limbo, and with a flash of light, one of the orbs transformed into a portal. It shimmered before her, leading back to the world she needed to save.
Sunset took a deep breath, her eyes blazing with determination.
“I’m coming for you, girls.”
With that, she stepped through the portal, ready to face the Dazzlings and reclaim the magic of friendship.
The dark skies over Equestria swirled with ominous clouds as The Dazzlings (now sirens again) and their army appeared at the edge of Canterlot. Ponies across the land could feel a palpable shift in the air—magic tinged with malice. Panic spread like wildfire. Pegasi tried to fly away, unicorns teleported in desperation, and earth ponies ran, only to find themselves trapped. The Dazzlings’ army—a mix of mind-controlled ponified Canterlot High students, staff and other twisted creatures—had surrounded the city, closing in until there was no escape.
Adagio, Aria, and Sonata floated down gracefully, their smirks filled with triumph. Adagio’s eyes glinted with satisfaction as she surveyed the terrified ponies beneath her.
"Victory over the human world was easy enough," Adagio purred. "And now, we’re here to enslave you all, too. Your magic will be ours, and soon, nothing will stand in our way."
As Adagio spoke, the tension thickened. Then the haunting melody began—their voices intertwining in a dark, mesmerizing harmony.
Cue song: Day of Reckoning
The song, “Day of Reckoning,” reverberated through the streets, shaking the very foundations of Equestria. The ponies found themselves frozen, unable to resist the power of The Dazzlings' voices, their strength and hope draining with every note.
As the final chord hung in the air, Sonata, with her usual obliviousness, suddenly broke the tense silence.
"So, um... do you guys have tacos here? I mean, I could really go for some right now."
Adagio’s eye twitched, and Aria slapped a fin to her forehead. They both groaned in unison.
"Seriously, Sonata?" Aria muttered. "Tacos? Now?"
"What?" Sonata asked, blinking innocently. "It’s a valid question!"
While the trio argued, somewhere far from the chaos in the heart of a dark monastery, Sunset Shimmer emerged from the void. Her eyes were filled with determination as she stumbled upon the Rainbooms. Her heart sank when she saw them lying there—drained, weak, barely able to lift their heads. Sunset rushed to their side, quickly setting them free from their magical bonds.
“You’re back,” Twilight Sparkle gasped, her voice hoarse. “But, Sunset… you have to do this… on your own.”
“We don’t have any magic left,” Fluttershy added weakly.
Sunset shook her head, panic rising in her chest. “I can’t do this alone. I need you. All of you.”
“We believe in you,” Rainbow Dash said, trying to sound confident, though her voice cracked with exhaustion. “But you have to go now, before it's too late.”
Taking a deep breath, Sunset nodded. She couldn’t let them down. She had to face the Dazzlings on her own.
With a heavy heart, Sunset returned to Canterlot High. She stood before the portal, hesitating for just a moment, then stepped through. The moment she entered Equestria, the overwhelming presence of The Dazzlings’ power hit her. The once-bright and colorful land she knew was now dark, controlled by The Dazzlings’ sinister magic.
As Sunset made her way through the streets of Equestria, she saw the mind-controlled ponies patrolling, ensuring no one could escape. Sunset fought her way to the city’s heart, where she found The Dazzlings standing triumphant.
“So, you’ve come to fail again,” Adagio sneered as Sunset approached. “This time, you won’t be so lucky.”
“I’m not afraid of you,” Sunset said, trying to muster as much courage as she could. But deep down, she could feel her confidence waver.
Adagio raised a claw and the army moved in. Sunset gritted her teeth, trying to fight them off, but she couldn’t bring herself to hurt them—they were her friends, the students and teachers of Canterlot High, trapped under the Dazzlings’ control. The numbers overwhelmed her, and soon enough, she was cornered, powerless to stop them.
Adagio stepped forward, ready to drain Sunset’s magic. “You’ve lost,” she said coldly, her claw glowing with a dark energy.
But before she could strike, a voice cut through the tension.
“STOP!”
Everyone froze. The Dazzlings, their army, and even Sunset turned to see who had spoken.
Out of the shadows stepped a figure—one with a presence so powerful that even the Dazzlings paused.

As the winds swirled around the town, the tension in the air was palpable. Adagio, Aria, and Sonata stood at the head of their army, preparing to finish what they had started. But before they could make their final move, a brilliant glow appeared in the sky. A majestic white Pegasus with a shimmering purple mane and tail descended, his powerful wings made of magical ice. He wore a matching purple scarf, which fluttered in the wind as he touched down on the ground.
Sonata gasped, eyes wide with recognition. "Arctic Ace..." she whispered.
Arctic's icy blue eyes narrowed as he stepped forward. "Why are you doing this, Sonata? Why are you, Aria, and Adagio trying to overrule Equestria and the human world?"
Adagio, ever the leader, raised her chin defiantly. "We've been banished from Equestria long enough. We deserve revenge. No one will stop us this time."
Arctic Ace shook his head. "Revenge? That's not the way. All this anger will only lead to more pain, for you and for everyone else." He looked directly at Sonata, his voice softening. "You've already lost so much. Why do you want to lose even more?"
Sonata hesitated, her eyes flickering with doubt. Aria and Adagio exchanged glances but said nothing. Arctic’s words carried a weight that resonated with the Sirens, especially Sonata. Slowly, she turned to her sisters. “I don’t know if this is worth it anymore...”
Arctic took a step closer. “Let your army go. End this. Come back with me to the portal.”
After a long moment, Adagio sighed and nodded, her confidence draining. “Maybe we have been fighting the wrong battle.”
With that, the enchanted army began to revert to their true forms—students and townsfolk, their minds restored to normal. Confusion settled on their faces, but the malicious glow that had overtaken them was gone.
As if on cue, the Rainbooms were teleported out of the monastery and made it to Equestria, their powers restored. They were prepared to defend Equestria once more, but Sunset raised a hoof, stopping them.
"Wait! Let them explain."
The Dazzlings, joined by Arctic Ace, told their story. Sonata’s voice wavered as she reached the part about their banishment and how Ace had been involved before it all. "He... he broke up with me a month before we were banished. I couldn’t stop talking about tacos and I went a little too overboard... I guess I was a little too obsessed." Sonata looked down, ashamed. "I’m sorry, Arctic. I just... I didn’t know how to deal with everything."
Arctic smiled gently. “It wasn’t just about the tacos, Sonata. It was about finding balance, about knowing when to let go. I never wanted to hurt you, and I’m sorry it all went this way.”
Sonata blinked back tears. “Do you think we could... try again? You and me?”
Arctic looked into her eyes, then nodded. “I think we can.”
With the conflict resolved, everyone returned to Canterlot High with Sonata and Arctic emerging last, where the school concert resumed, though now it was held outdoors—the gym stage had been destroyed in the chaos. The Rainbooms took to the stage with those who had already performed earlier, now joining as backup singers and part of the choir.
Cue song: “The Light of Harmony”
The air filled with the harmonious chords of their new song, "The Light of Harmony," a beautiful anthem celebrating unity and friendship.
As the song played, a montage unfolded. Sonata and Arctic Ace sat together at a Taco Bell, laughing and reminiscing. The Dazzlings, now welcomed by the students of Canterlot High, were shown lending a hand with various dilemmas—helping organize events, tutoring classmates, and even performing at future concerts.
By the final notes of the song, everyone had gathered, applauding wildly as the last echoes of music filled the air. The Dazzlings had found their place, and even the students who once feared them now accepted them as part of the school community.
And for Sonata, her smile was brighter than it had ever been, as she walked hand in hand with Arctic Ace toward a new chapter, where harmony and friendship truly reigned.
