Chapter 20: The Legend of the Prom Scream

On a plane that was heading from Baltimore, Maryland to Havana, Cuba, the cargo hold door was opening. And coming out from the cargo hold were the two crowns.
"NO!!" came a voice that was covered up with a vocoder. "My crowns!" Then the thief jumped out of the plane, going after the crowns. The thief was trying to reach out and grab the crowns, but they were too far down for the thief to catch. So they had no choice but to pull the chord to release the parachute they were wearing. The thief looked down to see that the crowns landed around the Orlando, Florida area. After landing around where the crowns landed, the thief looked around to see the crowns at Summer Valley High School. "There are my crowns." Then Dang came out of nowhere and saw the crowns and picked them up.
"Oh," Dang said. "Looks like the new crowns for the Prom came in early. Which is weird because Principal Sanders hasn't even ordered them yet." Dang then took the crowns towards the school.
"Damn," the thief said before running after Dang. Dang took the crowns into the school and the thief ran in after him. But before the thief could get Dang, he had disappeared before the thief could even get him. "Where'd he go?"
Meanwhile, in the Principal's Office, Dang had placed both crowns into the school's safe that was hidden behind a framed piece of art that was hinged to the wall. He then closed the safe and covered it with the picture. Then he disappeared.
It was Early April at Summer Valley High School. The entire school was in the gymnasium for an assembly. Aaron, Smolder, Paul, Kyle, Megan and Slab were sitting in the sections where the rest of the Junior Grade Students were.
"Alright, Students, listen up!" Principal Sanders said into the microphone on a podium in the middle of the gym. "So far, we have had so many victories from our school this school year. So far, every sport in our school has won in both Varsity and Junior Varsity in every sport so far. All that remains is spring sports. But, hopefully, we will have a glorious victory this year. And hopefully, all will be okay by our biggest school event this year. Prom Night."
"Prom?" Smolder asked. "That's coming up?"
"That's right," Aaron said. "And this year, we're in the proper grade to attend."
"That's right," Principal Sanders said. "It's also the 50th anniversary of the Prom Scream."
"Prom Scream?" Aaron, Smolder and Megan asked in unison.
"Oh, right," Paul said. "You three aren't from here. Everyone here knows the legend of the Prom Scream." He then called out to Principal Sanders. "Hey, Principal Sanders, there are some students who aren't from here in Orlando."
"Oh, that's right," Principal Sanders said. "Alright. Here's the legend of the Prom Scream."
"It was the year 1975. long before the construction of our very own Summer Valley High, there was a girl who was the most likely girl to be picked Prom Queen. She was also the biggest brat in the entire school. She was about to be handed the crown, but she lost because she wasn't eligible to be Prom Queen, even though she had the highest votes. She swore revenge on all those who turned against her. And that girl has never been seen again. That is, until ten years later. The girl has come back to every prom dance and goes after the crown meant for the Prom Queen. Especially since her inner beauty shines out, and she has become a ghost girl somehow. From that day one, she was known as... the Prom Scream."
Smolder had her arms crossed and smirked at that.
"If something like that is in the Dragon Lands, we would've put that on our currency," Smolder said.
"Since this Prom Scream comes back every ten years, we all must prepare," Principal Sanders said. "But that doesn't mean that we can't have fun during Prom Night. Tickets for Prom are to be paid for in front of my office. That is all." Then the bell rang and all the students headed towards their classes.
Aaron, Smolder, Paul, Kyle, Megan and Slab headed down the hall. Aaron then looked at Smolder and asked, "You up for going to Prom?"
"Meh, it's not like we could actually be crowned King and Queen," Smolder said.
"Who cares?" Aaron asked. "We should just go for fun."
"Meh, alright," Smolder said. "C'mon, we should head out. We gotta get to work."
"See y'all later," Megan said as Aaron and Smolder headed towards the school exit to head to work.
It was Saturday. Smolder was at home looking at the dress designs she made during her dress making class. She was trying to figure out which outfit she wanted to wear for the prom.
"It's gonna be hard to choose which one will be my dress for the prom," Smolder said. "Both in human or dragon form." Then the book of designs she made was levitated in a light blue aura. Smolder looked to her left and saw Rarity sitting next to her, wearing her traditional red dressmaking glasses.
"My, my," Rarity said. "You definitely did great at designing these outfits, Smolder. I am glad you have asked moi to help you out with this." She then looked at the many outfits that would be perfect for Smolder to wear to Prom. "Let's see which one is best." Just then, the sound of a truck pulling up came.
Smolder gasped and said, "Oh, no. Aaron and Liam are back." Rarity then closed the book and carried it in her magic. She then took Smolder's measurements and wrote them down.
"Quick, change into your human form," Rarity said. Smolder did what she was told. "Do you mind... taking off your clothes?" Smolder groaned and started taking off her clothes. Lucky for her, she had on a bikini.
"Lucky for me that I decided that I wanted to hit the pool today," Smolder said.
"Smart move, darling," Rarity said, taking Smolder's human measurements. "And... done. It's a good thing that Marissa had sent me some extra human mannequins to my Boutique. Come on by tomorrow."
"Got it, Rarity," Smolder said. She then grabbed a towel just as Rarity went through the portal. Smolder went to the pool and then she jumped into the pool. Smolder then popped her head out of the pool and said, "I sh-sh-should've.... turned on... the heater." Just then, fire came towards the pool and it warmed up the water. Smolder looked towards where the fire was coming from and in came Aaron in his dragon form. Liam turned on the pool heater that was by the door.
"You're lucky I saw you going out the back," Aaron said.
Smolder then sighed in relief and said, "That feels better."
"I'll be back out here," Aaron said. "I'll get my swimsuit on." Smolder nodded.
Smolder then looked at Liam and asked, "So, where did you guys go?"
"We were just picking up some groceries," Liam said. "Making some meatloaf tonight. And... don't worry. It's not pony meat."
"Good," Smolder said. "Sandbar would be pissed." Liam then nodded in agreement. Then Aaron, back in human form, came out in green swim trunks. He then got into the pool.
"Oh, yeah," Aaron said. "Pool water heated up by dragon fire feels so good."
"Salted pool water," Smolder said. "Remember, we had it transferred for Silverstream's seapony form."
"Right," Aaron said. "So, I did some research on the Prom Scream. Turns out after she left the school, she had gotten into a car accident and totally messed up her face. Rumors says her... ghost... has a major deformity from her face cheeks up, and she had to wear a mask to cover it up."
"Yikes," Smolder said. "I'm guessing that someone from the drama department comes in and dresses up in the same kind of prom dress and a mask and goes through the dance falsely terrorizing students?"
"That's basically what happens at every high school," Aaron said. "It's too bad Aunt Marissa's not gonna be here for my first Prom Night. She was hoping that she'll be helping me prepare for that night."
"Where's she going?" Smolder asked.
"She's been scouting different sites for her design company across America," Aaron said. "She'll be in Los Angeles during Prom Night. It's actually almost complete."
"Well, guess you're on your own for Prom Night," Smolder said.
"Well, Uncle Liam is staying here," Aaron said. "Someone's gotta be watching over Tony and Jessica. And they're only a year old."
"That's true," Smolder said. "Well, who'll be watching over the two when we're all working?"
"Mrs. Patterson just down the street," Aaron said. "She's a nice lady."
"Oh, yeah," Smolder said. "Well, we got that prepared. Right now, let's just go with the flow."
Time has passed since then. At Summer Valley High, Aaron and Smolder were checking out the gymnasium where it was being decorated for Prom Night. Both Aaron and Smolder were in Dragon form.
"Wow," Smolder said. "The place is looking amazing."
"And Prom is just a week away," Aaron said. "Our outfits are prepared, the President has given us a limo for us to arrive at the school, and we'll have a great time here." Some of the girl students setting up the dance saw them walking by and they giggled. Both Aaron and Smolder looked towards them. "What's so funny?"
"Oh, nothing," one of the girls said.
Aaron and Smolder looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. Then they headed out of there. But before they could head out, the sound of someone shrieking came in. Everyone in the room looked up and saw a flying woman coming down, wearing a golden mask over her face, and wearing a sky blue prom dress with long white gloves with sharp nails, a navy blue corsage on her left wrist. She was also glowing in a blue aura to make herself look more ghostly.
"What is that?!" Smolder asked.
One girl screamed and shouted, "It's the Prom Scream!" Then everyone setting up the gym for prom ran away.
"I want my crowns!" the Prom Scream shouted. She then shrieked and came down to attack some students. The Prom Scream started messing up the decorations. Aaron and Smolder ducked out of the way of the incoming table.
"Boy, she is mad," Smolder said. "What should we do?"
Aaron then pulled out his phone and said, "Hey, Siri. Call Liam."
"Calling Liam Daniels," Aaron's phone said.
The Prom Scream then charged at Aaron and Smolder, but they both ran out of the gym and the Prom Scream closed the doors. Aaron still had his phone.
"Hello?" came Liam's voice from the phone. "Aaron? Is something wrong?"
"Well, Uncle Liam, you are not gonna believe what had just happened here at the school," Aaron said.
