Kimono yawned as she stepped out of her home. It was a custom job that she'd had made; it was reminiscent of her homeland. Being from Japon, her house was much like one of those that you'd see there. Which already got attention from others. One nice thing about that structure was that it was also foldable; In a pinch it could become about 1/4 of its original size.

It had cost a lot; more thn she'd been expecting, but it was there and nevertheless hers.

With that, she began trotting into town, wearing one of her namesake designs. Which, of course, she made by herself. It was good that she was pretty good with enchantment magic, too. Under normal circumstances, the design of her makings was a long and flowing affair, but also not exactly ideal for one with hooves. Also a bit flimsy at times, depending on the material.

Basically, magicless, the kimono was an accident waiting to happen.

But as the Pony of the same name sashayed into town, she missed nary a step. Enchantments for durability, comfort, inobtrusiveness, all marked in flowing designs along the dress, which served both purposes nicely.

It also caused her to attract more attention.

Off to the side, she heard a wolf-whistle. she rolled her eyes, but noticed some stallions were watching. To indulge them slightly, she winked. The lot of them immediately fell in a heap.

She chuckled inwardly as she continued. She was going into Canterlot proper for several reasons. Firstly, being new here she needed to get the lay of the land. Secondly, it was a beautiful day, and perfect for her morning constitutional.

Off to the other side, there was a query. "Where can i get some of THAT?"

She looked over; this one was a Unicorn mare, with a posh voice and a white coat. Her mane was a very light pink. Nevertherless, to Kimono's trained eye, she saw that this Pony did a bit more than regular exercise.

Kimono smiled. "I'll be opening soon; say 'onomik' at the door for a discount." she said (whispering just loud enough for the mare to hear at the end), still walking.

The third reason was just exemplified; self advertising. She needed to get her name and face out there. As she trotted along, Kimono saw a couple of stallions looking at her while not watching where they were going. She winked at one and he stopped sudddenly, causing the others to crash into him, the lot of them landing in a tangle of limbs.

At that, she snickered. 'Too easy'.

The next reason was generally to introduce herself to the... haute société, as they say. Or as they'd say where she came from, the joryü shakai.

Finally, she also had something special in the saddlebags she was wearing -also enchanted- but we'll get to that later.

Her in-built danger sense warned her that an admirer was about to make a pass at her from close range.

As he did, she casually hip-checked the stallion, causing him to tumble into a bunch of others.

Nearby there was a depressed-looking stallion pulling a carriage. He received a wink too, and came to a screeching halt. Nothing untoward happened to him, to the relief of the Ponies in the carriage, but the previously depressed-seeming stallion now had a huge grin. He continued with renewed vigour.

Kimono laughed openly at that. She was now in a really good mood. In fact...

Music began to swell in the background, played by unseen instruments(1).

This might seem strange,
What I'm about to say.
But don't mind me; I'll say it anyway.
To you, do I look cute or funny?
But no, you won't depress me.
You see?

By this time several Ponies were following along, the music getting to them as well. Some of them even joined for the chorus

'Cuz we're so happy~!

And because she's happy~!
Dance along if you want to dance the day away
We'll all be happy~!

By now several others joined in, the Harmonic flash mob livening things up.

And here's the news: I'm fresh to town
Call me Kimono; I'm no clown.
To some of you i might look funny.
You can't make me feel down today!
I say!

By this time, several onlookers were tappinng their hooves, clapping or just nodding to the beat.

'Cuz we're so happy~!

And because she's happy~!
Dance along if you want to dance the day away

After receiving a lot of applause and cheering, she was able to -FINALLY!- ask for directions to the castle.

The one that did got a small kiss, which seemingly caused his mind to stop responding. In fact, she waved a hoof in front of his face, to no response. She asked some of the others nearby to help him. After she was sure that he would be okay, she continued. In a few short minutes, the Pony's mind had rebooted and he now had a big silly grin on his face.

Anyway, Kimono moved on toward the palace at the top of the city. She had to ask directions to the throne room -the place was HUGE!- but she eventually made her way there, in time for the Midday Court, presided over by both of the Royal Sisters, today.

It took a fair while, but eventually it was her turn, with plenty of time to spare.

She approached the two Alicorns, bowing deeply. "kenkyona go aisatsu, koena minasama(2)." she said, in her native language.

Celestia thought a moment, but then answered in kind. "Soshite, anata ni mo yoroshiku, watashi no chisana Poni.(3)"

Kimono smiled widely. "Your majesties, I come bearing gifts." she said, opening her saddlebags. From those lifted two of her namesake designs, but, uh, tokudai tokudai(4) size.

The first was a sun-themed outfit. It had patterns of red, orange, golden yellow, white, in the shape of stars, suns and swirling patterns (which were the enchanted ones). On the chest portion was a circle of suns, in different styles.

The second was moon-themed, of course. It had blues, purples, a few black spots. On the chest portion was a large crescent moon, a moonsilver colour.

Luna was the one to speak this time. "These are indeed quite magnificent. Extremely well woven. But aren't these... hazardous?"

Kimono shook her head. "Not at all. With the proper enchantments, they're like the usual dresses. but, you know, longer."

Celestia nodded deeply. "Thank you, my little Pony. These are quite beautiful."

Kimono bowed again. "Anata no michi ga hikari taiyo suki no naka ni arimasu yo ni(5)." she said, before leaving, her missions all accomplished.
