Lieutenant Pavise is a member of Cadance's personal bodyguard, which is a dream come true since he's in love with her. When the sudden death of Shining Armor rocks the Crystal Empire, Pavise is given the chance he never thought he'd have to become friends–and maybe more–with the freshly widowed Cadance.

However, duty and guilt fight a tumultuous battle inside of him. As he grows closer to the Princess, he simultaneously grows closer to realizing his unbecoming fantasies and further from the oath that he took as a guard: to serve the Crystal Empire selflessly, without promise of personal gain.

One way or another, both Pavise and Cadance will eventually find out the truth of their strange relationship–and they'll both have to deal with the consequences.
