Daleks’ Invasion of Equestria
Chapter 5: Three Years Later…
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe air in Discord’s realm was thick with the weight of three years of sorrow and uncertainty. It was a surreal haven, a patchwork of impossible landscapes and floating fragments of Equestria that no longer existed. Here, they were safe—but they were also trapped, survivors in a world that had ceased to feel like home.
Fluttershy sat huddled in a corner of the sprawling, chaotic living space that Discord had crafted for them. Her soft sobs were a gentle, heart-wrenching sound that echoed across the otherwise eerily silent room. Applejack had her hoof around Fluttershy’s shoulders, her hat tipped low over her eyes, trying her best to keep her own sorrow at bay. Nearby, Discord hovered awkwardly, his mismatched arms offering comfort in the only way he knew how—by turning the tears into butterflies, which flitted about before disappearing into nothingness. But it wasn’t enough. Nothing seemed enough.
Twilight Velvet paced near the window that overlooked the churning, kaleidoscopic skies of Discord’s domain. Her mind was elsewhere—on Twilight, her daughter, missing since the day the Daleks invaded. Her heart ached with each thought of her, wondering if she was still alive, or worse, if she had been… exterminated. Her mind refused to linger on that thought.
By the hearth, Granny Smith stirred a bubbling pot of something vaguely resembling soup. The scent wafted through the air, a reminder of simpler times back at Sweet Apple Acres. But even cooking had lost its warmth; the joy of the old Apple family traditions had faded in the wake of everything.
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna stood at the far side of the room, deep in conversation. Their regal appearances were worn down by years of failure, their usual confidence gone, replaced by furrowed brows and the weight of leadership in impossible circumstances. Shining Armor paced nearby, every step heavy with worry. His thoughts were singular: How do we bring them back? How could they possibly return the exterminated to life when the Daleks had vaporized entire cities?
In the corner, Fluttershy’s voice broke through the silence, quivering and fragile. “M-maybe… maybe we should just surrender…”
The room froze. Applejack’s grip on her tightened, and all eyes turned toward the yellow pegasus, wide with shock. Even Discord stopped in his tracks, his usual carefree expression replaced by something darker, more serious.
“Sugarcube,” Applejack whispered, “you can’t mean that.”
Fluttershy hid her face in her mane, trembling. “What’s the point of fighting anymore? The Daleks… they’ve already won. I’m just… so tired.”
The room fell silent, the weight of her words pressing down on them. A deep, collective sorrow settled over the group, like the closing of a final chapter.
Suddenly, a voice cut through the tension, firm and filled with purpose. “That’s not an option.”
Everyone turned, startled by the sudden intrusion. Standing in the doorway was a stallion none of them expected—Doctor Whooves.
The earth pony, usually seen around Ponyville tinkering with strange devices, looked different now—worn and tired, much like the rest of them, but his eyes burned with determination. He stepped into the room, glancing at each of them in turn.
“Doctor?” Twilight Velvet blinked, confusion mixing with a glimmer of hope. “What are you doing here?”
“I think the better question,” Doctor Whooves said, striding forward, “is how do we stop the Daleks and save Equestria?”
Discord floated down, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the Doctor. “You…” he muttered, his voice suddenly filled with ancient memories. “I should’ve known you’d show up eventually.”
Doctor Whooves glanced at Discord with a knowing smirk. “Old friend,” he said, the words carrying a weight of shared history. “I’m surprised you haven’t caused more chaos. But I suppose even you have your limits.”
Discord huffed, crossing his arms. “Oh, I could’ve done plenty. But these are… special circumstances.”
The others exchanged confused glances. There was clearly more to this relationship than met the eye.
Princess Celestia stepped forward, her eyes narrowing. “Doctor, if you have a plan, now is the time to tell us.”
Doctor Whooves nodded solemnly. “I do. But it won’t be easy. In fact, it might be the hardest thing any of you have ever done. But it’s the only way.”
Applejack, still holding Fluttershy, looked up. “We’ll do whatever it takes, Doc. We’ve been waitin’ three long years for a way to fight back.”
The Doctor motioned for everyone to gather around, his expression grave. As they formed a circle, he pulled out a small, intricate device from his saddlebag. It was a strange, whirring contraption that seemed to hum with energy. “This is the key to saving Equestria,” he explained, “but it requires all of us to act—together.”
“What does it do?” Princess Luna asked, her voice edged with curiosity and caution.
Doctor Whooves glanced at her. “This device can reverse time. Not just for a moment, but for an entire timeline. It’s incredibly dangerous, and the Daleks—well, they would never allow it if they knew. But if we can activate it, we can send the whole of Equestria back to a time before the invasion. Before everything went wrong.”
Shining Armor furrowed his brow. “But what about all the ponies who were exterminated? Can this bring them back?”
The Doctor’s eyes softened. “Yes. If we succeed, it will be as if the invasion never happened. But the risks are immense. Time isn’t meant to be rewritten on this scale. There are… consequences.”
Discord rolled his eyes. “Always with the consequences, Doctor. You’re no fun.”
“Consequences?” Celestia’s voice was steady, but there was a flicker of fear behind it. “What kind of consequences?”
Doctor Whooves sighed. “Reality could… fracture. If we fail, Equestria could be lost forever—not just destroyed, but erased.”
Fluttershy’s tears slowed as she looked up at him. “But… we have a chance, don’t we?”
The Doctor nodded. “Yes. And it’s the only one we’ve got.”
The group exchanged glances. They had all lost so much—friends, family, their world as they knew it. But in this moment, with Doctor Whooves before them and the flicker of hope he carried, there was a choice to be made.
Applejack stood tall, her eyes filled with determination. “Then we fight. We do whatever it takes to save Equestria.”
One by one, the others nodded. Fluttershy, wiping her tears away, stood beside Applejack. Celestia and Luna squared their shoulders, their regal authority returning. Twilight Velvet, still worried for her daughter, set her jaw in resolve. Shining Armor placed a hoof on the Doctor’s device, ready to defend it at all costs.
Discord floated above them all, arms crossed, a sly grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Oh, this is going to be fun.”
Doctor Whooves smiled faintly. “Then let’s begin.”
With a flick of his hoof, the device in his saddlebag whirred to life, casting a faint glow over the room.
The battle for Equestria’s future had begun.
To be continued…
