The apartment wasn’t anything grand, just a cozy little place in Manehattan tucked between two coffee shops and a building that looked suspiciously like it used to be a bookstore. Still, it suited Star Tracker perfectly—neat, organized, and a bit crammed with everything from his amateur astronomy books to a whole stack of Starswirl Monthly magazines, lined up in order of issue.
I levitated an old blanket out of the closet and folded it, adding it to the growing stack of items we’d already packed into the boxes we’d brought. Star Tracker was buzzing around, grabbing anything he could reach and carefully stacking it next to me with his touch of precision.
“You know, Twilight, this is... honestly amazing,” he said, his voice soft, like he didn’t want to break the quiet focus of packing. “I-I never imagined actually getting to live in the Castle of Friendship with you. It’s like… almost a dream!”
I chuckled, setting the blanket on top of the nearest box. "Well, it’s not quite a dream, Star Tracker, though I’ll admit it feels a bit surreal to me too! I haven’t shared my space with anyone like this before—well, other than Spike."
Star Tracker let out a nervous chuckle, shuffling his hooves a bit as he glanced over at me. “Yeah, I-I mean, it’s a really big thing to, you know… move into a princess’s castle,” he said, a shy smile flickering across his face. “Spike’s lucky to have had so much time there with you.”
“Well, he practically grew up with me, so it’s all he’s known!” I replied, giving one of the boxes a little push to the side. “But honestly, I’m glad I get to share it with somepony else now. You’re not just anypony; after all, you’re a prize winner and my friend."
He chuckled. "Well, I only entered the contest with the thought of being with you; I didn't actually think I would win."
I thought back to that day and giggled a bit at the way he was acting around me back then. "Yeah, heck, you were so excited that I thought you were going to take off into the sky."
He chuckled as he remembered that day. "Yeah, I kind of lost myself when I heard you call out my ticket number. I mean, I looked up to you. You basically have everything: a peaceful town, great friends, and you’ve saved Equestria more times than I can count."
I smiled at his words, putting my hoof to my chin before saying, "Well, thanks for saying that; it’s quite flattering to hear that you think of me that way. I really shouldn’t have acted towards you the way I did, but now that I look back on it, it was kind of adorable—well, other than the times you got way too close to my face."
“Ha, yeah, sorry about that,” he said as we continued to pack the rest of his stuff.
As we sorted through his belongings, I couldn’t help but notice how at ease we were together. It felt natural, like we’d been friends for ages instead of just a couple of days. “You know,” I said, trying to keep the conversation light, “I never thought I’d be sharing my castle with a pony who’s practically a walking encyclopedia of astronomy.”
He chuckled, as he put some of his books into another box. “And I never thought I’d get to share living space with the Princess of Friendship herself. It’s kind of like living in a library that also has a throne room. What do you think—should I start checking out books from my own home?”
Absolutely! Just make sure to return them on time; I have a strict no-late-fees policy,” I teased, smiling at him.
He rolled his eyes dramatically. “Oh no! The Princess will revoke my library privileges if I’m late! Whatever will I do?”
I laughed, and for a moment, it felt like all the royal duties and expectations faded away. “Well, just don’t forget to take your books to the library before dinner, or I might have to send Spike after you!”
“Uh-oh! Not Spike!” he exclaimed, his eyes widening in mock fear. “He’d probably just breathe fire on me if I don’t comply.”
Before long, we were finally done packing, and I used my magic to carry the boxes as we made our way to the train station. “You know, this is a nice change of pace,” I said, glancing over at him as we walked. “Living together and everything.”
“Yeah, it’ll be... interesting,” Star Tracker replied, scratching the back of his neck nervously. “But it will be nice to finally wake up and be able to hang out with other ponies instead of being isolated all the time. Sometimes I feel like I’m more of a hermit than an astronomer.”
I nodded, understanding where he was coming from. “I get that. Even as a princess, it can be easy to feel isolated. It’s important to find friends and connect with others, especially when you’re always surrounded by responsibilities. I’m glad I have my own friends to get me out of the castle once in a while, which reminds me—I should probably introduce you to them at some point when we’re back in Ponyville.”
Star Tracker’s eyes widened a bit, a mixture of excitement and nervousness crossing his face. “You mean your friends like Rainbow Dash and Rarity?”
“Of course! You’ll love them. Plus, they’re really friendly and love making new friends, especially Pinkie Pie” I said, trying to reassure him.
“Yeah, I heard of Pinkie; she’s the out-of-control party pony,” he replied, chuckling nervously. “I just hope I can get along with them. I get a bit nervous around a lot of ponies that are focused on me.”
“Oh, don’t worry about Pinkie!” I reassured him, waving a hoof dismissively. “She’s super friendly, but she also knows how to tone it down if she sees somepony is nervous. Just be prepared for the occasional surprise party, though!”
Star Tracker’s eyes widened. “Surprise parties? What kind of surprises are we talking about here?”
“Only the best kind!” I said, trying to stifle a giggle. “Like, balloons, confetti, and probably a dozen cupcakes. You know, the usual.”
“Ugh, cupcakes… Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I might just explode from all that sugar!” he joked, trying to lighten the mood.
“Don’t say that! I need you for stargazing! But I’ll make sure Pinkie knows you have a strict no-sugar policy—at least until after we look at the stars,” I said with a smirk.
“Fair enough! But in all seriousness, I’m really grateful to have you around. It makes this whole moving-in thing feel a lot less daunting,” he said, his tone becoming sincere.
I felt a warm flutter in my chest. “I’m really glad to hear that. I want this to be a fun experience for both of us! I know it can be tough to meet new ponies, but I promise it’ll be worth it. They’re all wonderful in their own ways.”
Star Tracker nodded, his determination returning. “Okay, I’ll give it my best shot. And if things get too overwhelming, I can always hide behind you, right?”
“Not a chance,” I said, giggling a bit. Before long, we made it to the train station and managed to get all the boxes in with a bit of struggling.
“And there,” I said, stacking the last box against the back of the train car before I sat down beside Star Tracker. “Now we can take a moment to breathe before the ride.”
He let out a relieved sigh, wiping his forehead. “I didn’t think moving could be this exhausting. I think I’m ready to hibernate for the rest of winter!”
I laughed, nudging him gently with my shoulder. “Oh, come on! It’s not that bad! Think of it as a workout. Plus, you’ll need your energy for all the fun we’re going to have.”
“Fun, huh?” he said, raising an eyebrow. “Like what? Sorting through all these boxes?”
I rolled my eyes playfully. “Okay, maybe not sorting, but we’ll be decorating your new room! That counts as fun, right?”
Star Tracker leaned back, looking up at the ceiling of the train car. “I suppose. But I was kind of hoping for more adventure than just arranging furniture.”
“Adventure is just around the corner! You’ll see. We can explore Ponyville, visit new places, and definitely check out the stars together. Just think of all the stories you’ll have to share!” I said, my excitement bubbling up again.
“Okay, you’re right,” he admitted, a smile creeping back onto his face. “I guess I am looking forward to seeing what Ponyville has to offer. Just as long as it doesn’t involve too much social interaction right away!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll ease you into it! We can take our time,” I promised. “And if you ever feel overwhelmed, just give me the ‘Twilight SOS’ signal.”
He chuckled at that. “What’s the ‘Twilight SOS’ signal? A frantic wave of a hoof, or should it be me shouting your name?” he said, clearly joking.
“Definitely the frantic wave! Yelling my name might draw more attention than necessary!” I replied, giggling.
As the train began to move, we settled in for the ride. I glanced out the window, watching the familiar landscape of Equestria zoom by. “You know, I think you’re going to really love it here. There’s always something happening in Ponyville.”
Star Tracker leaned back in his seat, a thoughtful look crossing his face. “I hope so. It feels like a big change for me, but I’m ready to try. I mean, if I’m living in the Castle of Friendship, I guess I should expect some excitement, right?”
“Absolutely! Besides, who wouldn’t want to live in a castle?” I teased. “Just think of it: a castle with all the books and magic you could ever want!”
He grinned at that, his earlier nervousness beginning to fade. “That’s true! I’ll probably never run out of reading material. And I’m definitely looking forward to all those stargazing nights we’ve talked about.”
“Just wait until we set up that telescope!” I said, my excitement building again. “I have some great spots in mind for observing the stars. We’ll make it a regular thing.”
“Stargazing with Princess Twilight Sparkle—now that sounds like a dream come true,” he said with a genuine smile on his face before looking over to me and pulling me into a warm hug.
I was taken aback for a moment, surprised by the sudden hug, but then I felt a flutter of warmth in my chest making me smile hugging him back. “I’m glad you’re excited,” I said softly. “I’m excited too! It’s going to be great.”
As we broke the hug, Star Tracker looked at me with a serious expression. “Thank you for everything, Twilight. Really. I don’t think I can express how much it means to me that you’re willing to share your space and time with me. I’ve always admired you from a distance, and now to be here... it feels surreal.”
I waved a hoof dismissively, but my cheeks warmed at his words. “You don’t have to thank me. I want to share my home with my friends. Plus, it’s nice to have someone to share stargazing with. It can get lonely at times, even in the castle.”
“Still, I appreciate it,” he insisted, his sincerity shining through. “I just hope I can be as good a friend to you as you’ve been to me.”
“You already are, Star Tracker,” I said, smiling warmly. “Just being yourself is more than enough.”
As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow through the train windows, the rhythmic clattering of the train lulled us into a comfortable silence. We shared stories and laughter, the day slowly winding down. But as the darkness enveloped the landscape, I noticed Star Tracker’s eyelids growing heavy.
Before long, he had fallen asleep beside me, his head gently resting on my shoulder. At first, I felt a rush of confusion, not knowing what to do. I could feel the warmth of his presence and the soft rhythm of his breathing. Glancing down at him, I felt a smile tug at my lips. He looked so peaceful, a small smile playing on his lips even in his sleep.
I shifted slightly to get more comfortable, careful not to wake him. My heart swelled with a mix of affection and fondness as I watched him, the soft glow of the train lights illuminating his features. It was a sweet moment that felt just right, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for this new friendship.
Eventually, the train began to slow, and I knew we were approaching Ponyville. The familiar sights of the village greeted us through the windows, and I felt a surge of excitement. I gently nudged Star Tracker awake, whispering, “Hey, we’re almost there.”
He stirred, blinking a few times before sitting up straight, looking a bit dazed. “Did I fall asleep?” he asked sheepishly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
“Just a little,” I replied, stifling a giggle. “But it was cute. You looked like you were having a great dream.”
His cheeks flushed slightly as he glanced out the window, taking in the sight of our home. “Wow, it’s beautiful,” he said, his eyes sparkling with wonder.
As the train came to a complete stop, I stood up and helped him gather his things. My heart raced with anticipation as I stepped off the train, looking back at him with a smile. “Welcome home, Star Tracker,” I said, extending my hoof in invitation.
The sun shone brightly over the town as Star Tracker and I made our way out of the castle. I smiled as I took a deep breath of the cool morning air, feeling the warmth of the sun on my coat. The streets of Ponyville were already alive with activity—ponies setting up market stalls, fillies and colts running around, and the scent of fresh bread and flowers drifting through the air.
Beside me, Star Tracker walked with wide eyes, taking in the sights of the town for the first time. His ears twitched at the sounds of ponies chatting and laughing, and I could see a small smirk grow on his face as he spoke. "I think I'm starting to see why you like this town."
"Oh? What do you mean by that?" I asked with a smile as we continued walking.
Star Tracker glanced around, watching as ponies greeted each other warmly, shopkeepers cheerfully called out their specials, and foals ran through the streets without a care in the world. "Everypony here seems… close. Like they actually know each other. It’s so different from Manehattan."
I tilted my head. "How so?"
He let out a small chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, in Manehattan, there are ponies everywhere, but everypony’s always rushing somewhere. Nopony really stops to chat unless they have to. It’s busy, noisy, and... I don’t know, kinda lonely sometimes."
I nodded. "I get it. It’s kind of like Canterlot. Most ponies there are too busy to talk, or they’re just snobs who only talk to others who are like them. But Ponyville isn’t like that. It’s our little slice of Equestria. You could say it’s the most peaceful place there is."
Star Tracker looked around, a small smile forming on his face as he took in the quiet charm of the town. "Sounds nice. I think I’m starting to see what you mean."
I grinned. "Anyway, what do you say we head over to Sugarcube Corner? There’s somepony there I think you should meet."
Before he could respond, a voice suddenly popped up from behind us, making both of us jump.
“Oh, Sugarcube Corner? I live there!”
Both of us whipped around to find Pinkie Pie, standing there with a wide, excited grin. "Who are you meeting? Can I come? Can I?"
Twilight stumbled back in surprise, her wings flaring out instinctively. "Pinkie!" I gasped, trying to catch my breath. "How—how did you—"
I glanced over at Star Tracker, who looked just as startled as I felt. He stood frozen for a moment, blinking in confusion. "Did she just... appear behind us?"
Pinkie Pie giggled, bouncing around us in circles. "Yep! I do that sometimes! It’s one of my talents! So, who’s this new pony? Huh, huh?!" She pointed at Star Tracker, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
I shook my head in disbelief, still trying to process what had just happened. "Pinkie, you really need to stop doing that! You can’t just pop up like that!"
Pinkie’s grin only widened. "But it’s so much fun! Plus, I’ve been dying to meet the new pony who’s staying at the castle!"
I turned to Star Tracker, who looked both amused and a little confused. "Star Tracker, this is Pinkie Pie. She’s... well, Pinkie Pie."
Star Tracker blinked, his lips twitching as if he was holding back a laugh. "Nice to meet you, Pinkie. I guess I wasn’t expecting this kind of welcome."
Pinkie threw her hooves in the air dramatically. "Of course you weren’t! where's the fun in a normal welcome! So, tell me, do you like parties, Star Tracker? Because I love throwing parties! oh I'm gonna throw you a 'Welcome to Ponyville' party!"
I sighed, shaking my head. "Pinkie, Star Tracker just arrived yesterday. At least let him get settled in first."
Pinkie’s eyes went wide in shock. "Wait, he was here yesterday?!" she exclaimed, her voice rising in surprise. "Twilight, how could you not tell me that a new pony was here for an entire day?!"
I raised an eyebrow. "You’re surprised? You didn’t even know he was here."
Pinkie gasped dramatically, placing a hoof to her chest. "That’s it! I’ve been slacking! A new pony in Ponyville and I didn’t know about it for a whole day?! Gah, I have to work on this party now!"
She spun around in a blur of energy, practically vibrating with excitement. "I need to bake cupcakes, decorate, make sure the balloons are perfect—oh, and I need to get streamers! And I need to make sure everypony knows about the party!"
I chuckled, watching Pinkie bounce away at full speed. "Well, there you go, Star Tracker. You’ve officially been inducted into Ponyville with a Pinkie Pie party. Congratulations."
Star Tracker, who had been standing silently beside me, suddenly let out a small noise—a mix between a snort and a giggle. He quickly clamped his hooves over his mouth, but the smile on his face was impossible to hide. He struggled to keep himself from bursting into laughter, his whole body shaking with suppressed amusement.
I watched him, unable to hold back a laugh myself. "Are you okay over there?" I asked, trying not to laugh.
Star Tracker took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "I’m sorry," he said between fits of laughter. "It’s just... she’s so... much!" He finally gave in, laughing freely, the sound rich and genuine. "I didn’t expect that... she’s like a hurricane of energy."
I couldn’t help but laugh along with him. "Yeah, that’s Pinkie for you. She’ll wear you out, but in the best way possible."
Star Tracker wiped a tear from his eye as he composed himself. "I think I’m starting to see why you like it here. This place... it’s a lot of fun." He chuckled again. "I mean, that’s one way to welcome someone."
I smiled, relieved to see him so relaxed. "Don’t worry, it only gets more interesting from here."
"Can’t wait," he replied, still grinning.
"How about we head over to Sweet Apple Acres?" I suggested. "I was hoping to get some treats from Pinkie, but I’m pretty sure she’s going to be busy all day."
A smirk spread across Star Tracker’s face as he turned to me. "Wait, she is? What makes you think that?"
I rolled my eyes, letting out a slight giggle. "Okay, funny boy, come on, let’s get going," I said, nudging him playfully as we made our way toward the dirt road that led to Sweet Apple Acres.
As we walked, we stopped to chat with a few ponies along the way. Everypony here was so welcoming, and I was glad that they were so accepting of him. It was nice to see Star Tracker begin to relax and take in the warmth of the town.
After a bit of walking, we reached the top of a small hill, and Sweet Apple Acres appeared on the horizon. The sight was always so beautiful, with rows of apple trees stretching out in every direction, their branches heavy with ripe, red apples. The trees surrounded a large red barn that stood proudly in the center of the orchard.
"Wow," Star Tracker said softly, his eyes wide as he took in the sprawling view. "This place is incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it."
I smiled, feeling proud of the land that I called home. "It’s one of my favorite places in Ponyville. The Apple family works so hard here, and you can always count on them for the best apples in all of Equestria."
We walked closer, the sweet scent of apples filling the air as we approached the orchard. It was peaceful here, a world away from the hustle and bustle of Manehattan, and I could see how much Star Tracker was beginning to appreciate it.
After a bit of Star Tracker looking around in awe, we made our way toward the family barn. The scent of fresh apples mixed with the crisp morning air, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Just as we reached the barn, we spotted Applejack adjusting Apple Bloom’s school bag, making sure it was secure before the filly headed off for the day.
"Now remember, Apple Bloom," Applejack said as she tightened the strap. "Make sure ya stay focused in class, and don’t go wanderin’ off on one of yer ‘adventures’ again."
Apple Bloom rolled her eyes playfully. "Yeah, yeah, I know. See ya later, sis!" She waved before trotting down the dirt road toward town.
Applejack turned toward us, tipping her hat. "Well, howdy, Twilight! And… I take it this here’s that new guest of yers?"
I smiled. "Applejack, this is Star Tracker. He’s staying at the castle with me for a while, and I figured I’d give him a proper tour of Ponyville."
Star Tracker stepped forward, giving Applejack a polite nod. "It’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about Sweet Apple Acres, but seeing it in person is… well, incredible. I can’t imagine the amount of work that goes into running a place like this."
Applejack smirked, glancing around at the trees. "It’s a fair bit of work, alright, but it’s what we do best."
Star Tracker nodded, his eyes filled with genuine admiration. "And you do all this while taking care of your family, running a business, and keeping up with Ponyville’s events? That’s… honestly amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever met anypony as hardworking as you."
Applejack blinked, clearly not expecting such a compliment. She chuckled, rubbing the back of her head. "Well now, sugarcube, that’s mighty kind of ya to say. But I ain’t doin’ it alone—Big Mac, Granny, and even Apple Bloom help out when they can."
Star Tracker smiled. "Still, it’s impressive. I don’t think I’d last a single day working this hard. Makes me wonder how you still manage to look so put together while doing it."
Applejack’s ears perked up slightly as she let out a small laugh. "Well, now, ain’t that somethin’. Haven’t heard that one before." She tipped her hat, looking just a tad flattered.
I turned to Star Tracker, raising an eyebrow with an amused smirk. "You know, you have a real talent for making ponies feel good about themselves."
Star Tracker tilted his head, confused. "What do you mean?"
Applejack chuckled, patting him on the back. "She means ya got a smooth way with words, sugarcube. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say ya were flirtin’ with me just now."
Star Tracker’s eyes widened as a deep blush spread across his face. "W-what?! N-no! I was just— I mean, I didn’t—" He stammered, looking completely flustered.
I giggled at his reaction, watching as he desperately tried to collect himself. "Relax, Star Tracker, we’re just teasing you."
Applejack smirked. "Yeah, don’t worry, sugarcube. I know ya didn’t mean nothin’ by it. But still, I do appreciate the kind words."
Star Tracker sighed, still red in the face but smiling shyly. "Well, uh… you’re welcome, I guess."
I shook my head, still giggling. "Come on, let’s get those apple treats before poor Star Tracker turns into one of your apples."
Applejack chuckled at the joke, and I joined her, while Star Tracker let out a small groan, muttering, "Yeah, yeah, go ahead, laugh it up."
Applejack smirked as we both composed ourselves. "Ah, don’t take it personally, sugarcube. We’re just havin’ a little fun. Anyway, come on in—Granny Smith just finished bakin’ a fresh batch of her apple fritters."
we entered the kitchen, Granny Smith was just pulling a tray of golden-brown apple fritters from the oven. She turned toward us with a welcoming smile. "Well, howdy there, young’uns! Y’all got here just in time. These fritters are best when they’re fresh!"
Applejack grabbed a plate and set it on the table, waving us over. "Go on, dig in. No need to be shy now."
I wasted no time levitating a fritter onto my plate, taking a bite and humming in delight. "Mmm! As amazing as always, Granny!"
Star Tracker hesitated for a second before taking one for himself. The moment he bit into it, his eyes widened. "Whoa… this is amazing!" he said, his ears perking up as he eagerly took another bite.
Granny Smith chuckled, rocking in her chair with a pleased grin. "Glad ya like ‘em, sonny. Ain’t nothin’ better than an Apple family recipe!"
Star Tracker swallowed his bite and nodded enthusiastically. "I can tell! These are incredible! You know, Granny Smith, I don’t think I’ve ever had anything this good before. You must’ve been an amazing cook your whole life!"
Granny Smith blinked, then let out a small, flustered chuckle. "Oh, go on now, young’un. Ain’t no need for all that flattery."
Star Tracker, completely oblivious to the effect his words were having, continued with a charming smile. "I mean it! Not just anypony can make something this good. You’ve got a real talent—probably the best baker in all of Ponyville! Honestly, I’d be lucky if I could cook half as well as you."
Granny Smith’s cheeks turned a faint pink as she waved a hoof. "Well, ain’t you just the sweetest thing! Land sakes, if I were a few decades younger…" she trailed off, giggling like a school filly.
Applejack, who had been taking a sip of apple juice, suddenly choked, coughing into her hoof as she stared at Granny Smith in shock. I nearly dropped my fritter, my brain taking a moment to process what had just happened.
Star Tracker tilted his head in confusion. "Uh… did I say something wrong?"
I bit my lip, trying very hard not to burst out laughing, but the sight of Granny Smith, now fanning herself slightly, made it nearly impossible. Applejack, on the other hoof, buried her face in her hat before groaning, "Oh, sweet Celestia…"
Granny Smith gave Star Tracker a playful wink. "Yer a real charmer, young fella! Twilight, ya better watch out, or somepony’s gonna steal this one away real quick!"
That did it. I lost it. A fit of giggles escaped me as I tried to cover my mouth with my hoof. Star Tracker, now realizing what had just happened, turned an impossibly deep shade of red.
"I-I wasn’t—I didn’t mean—I wasn’t trying to—" he stammered, looking absolutely mortified.
Applejack, still looking like she wanted to be anywhere but here, sighed and rubbed her temples. "Alright, alright, let’s give the poor stallion a break before he passes out from embarrassment." She gave Star Tracker a smirk. "You’ve got a real gift, sugarcube—first applejack, now Granny Smith? You’re on a roll."
Star Tracker groaned, covering his face with his hooves. "I swear, I don’t mean to do this…"
I wiped a tear from my eye, finally catching my breath. "It’s okay, Star Tracker," I giggled. "Just… maybe be a little more careful with your compliments."
Granny Smith let out one last chuckle before waving us off. "Y’all come back anytime now, ya hear?"
Star Tracker mumbled something under his breath before practically bolting toward the door. I followed after him, still grinning.
As we stepped outside, he let out a long sigh. "Twilight, I think I need a guidebook on how not to accidentally flirt with ponies…"
I giggled, nudging him playfully. "Well, at least you’re keeping things interesting."
He groaned again, but I could see the small, embarrassed smile tugging at his lips.
"Alright," I said, taking a deep breath. "Ready for the next stop?"
He straightened up, still flustered but managing a nod. "Y-yeah, let’s go."
As we walked down the dirt path leading toward Fluttershy’s cottage, I couldn’t help but smirk at Star Tracker, who was still visibly flustered from what had just happened. His ears were pinned back, and he stared at the ground, probably hoping it would swallow him whole.
"So," I began, my tone dripping with amusement, "first Applejack, and now Granny Smith? You’re really making your way through the Apple family, huh?"
Star Tracker let out a groan, dragging a hoof down his face. "Twilight, please don’t remind me."
I giggled, giving him a playful nudge. "Oh, come on, it’s kinda impressive. I don’t think I’ve ever seen somepony accidentally charm two generations of the same family in less than an hour."
He let out an exasperated sigh. "I wasn’t trying to charm anypony! I was just being nice!"
I raised an eyebrow, still grinning. "Uh-huh, sure. You just happened to make Applejack feel flattered, just happened to make Granny Smith blush, and just happened to make both of them compliment you back."
Star Tracker groaned again, shaking his head. "I don’t know how this keeps happening... I just say what’s on my mind, and somehow it turns into flirting."
I laughed, enjoying his reaction far too much. "Well, you should be careful, Star Tracker. At this rate, you’re going to have half of Ponyville swooning over you by the end of the day."
He muttered something under his breath before sighing in defeat. "I seriously need to start thinking before I speak."
I smirked. "Probably a good idea. But honestly, it’s kinda adorable watching you get all flustered like this."
That only made his blush deepen as he looked away, clearing his throat. "L-let’s just focus on the tour, alright?"
I chuckled. "Fine, fine, I’ll stop—for now."
As we continued walking, the scenery slowly changed from the open fields near Sweet Apple Acres to the peaceful, nature-filled surroundings of Fluttershy’s cottage. The sounds of birds chirping filled the air, and a gentle breeze carried the scent of fresh grass and wildflowers. The soft hum of a nearby stream added to the serenity of the area.
Star Tracker took a deep breath, his expression relaxing as he looked around. "Wow… it’s so quiet here. It’s really nice."
I nodded. "That’s why Fluttershy loves it. She prefers a peaceful place where she can take care of her animals without too much noise or distraction."
Star Tracker looked intrigued. "She takes care of animals? Like, a lot of them?"
I giggled. "Oh, you’ll see. Let’s just say Fluttershy’s home isn’t just a cottage—it’s practically a nature reserve."
As we approached the small wooden bridge leading to Fluttershy’s front door, I knocked lightly and waited.
Star Tracker took another glance around, his ears twitching at the sound of rustling leaves and distant chirps. "You weren’t kidding… it feels like we stepped into a completely different part of Equestria."
Before I could reply, the door creaked open slightly, and a soft, gentle voice greeted us. "Oh, Twilight! It’s so nice to see you."
Fluttershy peeked out, her teal eyes shining warmly as she noticed Star Tracker. "Oh, and who’s this?"
I smiled, stepping aside. "Fluttershy, this is Star Tracker. He’s new to Ponyville and staying at the castle for a while. I thought I’d bring him by to meet everypony."
Star Tracker gave a polite nod. "It’s nice to meet you, Fluttershy."
Fluttershy smiled sweetly. "It’s nice to meet you too, Star Tracker. Please, come in!"
As we stepped inside, I had to suppress another giggle. If history had taught me anything, Star Tracker was about to make Fluttershy blush too. And honestly… I kind of hoped he would.
Fluttershy was one of the sweetest, most deserving ponies I knew. She had a heart of gold, always putting others before herself, always so gentle and kind. She deserved to be told how amazing she was, to have somepony make her feel special—even if it was just by accident.
And, as much as I hated to admit it, a small part of me wished he could make me feel that way too.
Shaking off the thought, I smiled as Fluttershy led us further inside.
The inside of her cottage was as warm and inviting as ever. The soft, earthy scent of fresh flowers mixed with the faintest hint of hay and tea leaves. Birdhouses hung from the ceiling, small burrows were tucked into the corners, and tiny critters peeked out from their cozy little homes. Everything about the space felt… alive, in the most peaceful way.
"Would you two like some tea?" Fluttershy asked gently as she walked toward the kitchen.
"That sounds great, Fluttershy," I said, taking a seat on the couch.
Star Tracker nodded as he looked around the room with quiet admiration. "Yeah, I’d love some. Thanks."
As Fluttershy disappeared into the kitchen, he turned to me, his gaze sweeping over the cozy little cottage. "This place is… different from what I expected," he admitted. "It’s not just a home—it’s like a sanctuary."
I smiled. "That’s because it kind of is. Fluttershy takes care of all kinds of animals here. Some of them stay permanently, but a lot of them are rescues that she nurses back to health before releasing them back into the wild."
Star Tracker’s eyes widened slightly as he glanced toward a few small creatures curled up in their little homes. "That’s… actually really amazing," he said, his voice softer. "I don’t think I’ve ever met anypony that dedicated before."
I nodded. "Fluttershy has always been like that. Ever since we were younger, she’s had a way with animals. It’s like she speaks their language."
Star Tracker chuckled. "I think she’s got a way with ponies too. You can just feel how peaceful this place is."
I giggled. "Yeah, it’s pretty different from what you’re used to in Manehattan, huh?"
He let out a small laugh. "You have no idea. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love the energy of a big city, but… I don’t think I ever realized how nice it is to just slow down and enjoy the quiet."
Just then, a fluffy white cat trotted up to Star Tracker, eyeing him curiously before hopping onto his lap. The little feline let out a long yawn, stretched its paws, then promptly curled up, making itself comfortable.
Star Tracker blinked in surprise before chuckling softly. "Well, hello there," he said as he gently ran a hoof over the cat’s fur. The cat purred instantly, nuzzling into his touch.
I smiled as I watched the scene unfold. "Looks like you’ve got a new friend."
Star Tracker nodded, still petting the cat with a peaceful expression on his face. "Yeah… I guess I’ve always been a cat kind of pony. Never had one myself, but… I don’t know, something about them just makes me feel calm."
Hearing that, Fluttershy reentered the room with a warm smile, carefully balancing a tray of tea. "Yeah, aren’t they just the cutest?"
She set the tea down, and we each took a cup, the warm aroma filling the air as she continued, "Though I’m a bit surprised with this one. She normally doesn’t warm up to ponies this fast—she more or less keeps to herself."
Star Tracker chuckled, still gently stroking the cat’s fur as it purred in contentment. "Guess I got lucky, huh?" He smiled softly as the cat nuzzled into him. "I don’t know what it is, but cats have always made me feel at ease. Maybe she can sense that."
Fluttershy nodded knowingly. "Animals are very good at picking up on emotions. If she trusts you, that must mean you have a very kind heart."
Star Tracker blinked, his ears twitching slightly. "Oh, um… thanks. That’s really nice of you to say." He glanced down at the cat, clearly flattered but unsure how to respond.
I took a sip of my tea, watching their interaction with quiet amusement. Star Tracker always seemed to have a way of unintentionally charming ponies, and Fluttershy, while being the most soft-spoken of my friends, was no exception.
The conversation drifted into easy small talk as we enjoyed our tea. Star Tracker asked Fluttershy about the different animals she took care of, and she happily explained how she tended to sick or injured creatures before releasing them back into the wild. Star Tracker listened intently, nodding along, genuinely interested in everything she had to say.
"You know, I don’t think I’ve ever met anypony who does what you do, Fluttershy," he said after a moment. "It’s really amazing how much care you put into making sure they’re all happy and healthy."
Fluttershy blushed lightly, smiling into her tea. "Oh, well… it’s just something I love doing. I can’t imagine my life without them."
Star Tracker nodded, taking another sip before tilting his head slightly. "So, what about you? Anypony special in your life?"
Fluttershy blinked, caught off guard. "O-oh, um… what do you mean?"
Star Tracker shrugged. "Like, have you ever had a crush on anypony?"
Fluttershy’s wings twitched slightly as she looked down at her teacup. "W-well… I suppose I have, but nothing ever really came of it. I’ve always been more focused on my animals, so I never gave it much thought."
Star Tracker smiled warmly. "That’s too bad. A kind, beautiful, caring pony like you? You should have ponies lining up to be with you."
Fluttershy’s blush deepened as she let out a soft squeak, shifting slightly in her seat. "O-oh… um… t-thank you, Star Tracker. That’s very sweet of you to say…"
But he wasn’t done. "I mean it," he continued, completely unaware of what he was doing. "You’re the kind of pony any stallion would be lucky to have. You’re gentle, thoughtful, and honestly, your voice alone is enough to make anypony melt."
Fluttershy made another soft squeaking noise, her face now completely red as she tried to hide behind her mane. I stared at Star Tracker in disbelief, torn between wanting to intervene and wanting to see just how deep a hole he was about to dig for himself.
"Really, I don’t get it," Star Tracker went on, still oblivious. "If I were a stallion looking for the perfect mare, I’d—"
"A-aha! Would you look at the time!" I cut in quickly, setting my empty cup down. "We should really get going! Lots more of Ponyville to see!"
Fluttershy gave me a grateful look, still flustered beyond belief, while Star Tracker blinked in confusion. "Oh, uh… right. I guess we do still have a lot to cover, huh?"
I stood up quickly, offering Fluttershy a reassuring smile. "Thanks for the tea, Fluttershy. We’ll see you later, okay?"
Fluttershy nodded, still looking shy but managing a small smile. "Y-yes, of course. It was really nice meeting you, Star Tracker."
Star Tracker returned her smile, completely unaware of the effect he had just had on her. "You too, Fluttershy! I hope we get to talk again soon!"
As soon as we stepped outside and started down the path, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.
I turned to Star Tracker, crossing my hooves. "You really need to be more self-aware."
He tilted his head. "Huh? What do you mean?"
I groaned. "You were flirting with Fluttershy. Like, a lot."
Star Tracker’s ears perked up before they flattened against his head. "W-wait, what? No, I wasn’t! I was just saying what I thought!"
I smirked. "Oh, so you thought she was beautiful, kind, and had a voice that could make anypony melt?"
Star Tracker opened his mouth to respond, then promptly shut it as his face turned beet red. "I—uh—w-well, I mean—!"
Before I could tease him any further, we both heard a soft voice behind us.
"U-um, Star Tracker…?"
We turned back toward the cottage, just in time to see Fluttershy stepping hesitantly toward him. Her face was still flushed, and her wings twitched nervously at her sides.
Star Tracker blinked. "Oh, um… yeah?"
For a moment, Fluttershy hesitated, shifting on her hooves as if gathering her courage. Then, in one quick movement, she leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
Star Tracker froze. I froze.
Fluttershy quickly stepped back, her face completely red as she looked down, pawing at the ground. "T-thank you for saying that," she murmured shyly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Star Tracker’s mouth opened, but no words came out. His face somehow turned even redder than before, his body locked in place as if his brain had completely shut down.
Fluttershy gave him a small, bashful smile before quickly retreating back inside, closing the door behind her.
Silence.
I slowly turned to look at Star Tracker, watching as he stood there, wide-eyed, still processing what had just happened.
Then, without saying a word, he sat down on the ground with a thud, his expression completely blank.
I couldn’t stop myself—I burst into laughter. "Oh wow, Star Tracker. I think you just got your first Fluttershy-induced shutdown."
He blinked slowly, then finally muttered, "Twilight… I think I broke."
Still giggling, I patted his back. "Come on, Romeo. Let’s get going before she comes back and finishes you off."
Star Tracker groaned, rubbing his face as we continued walking. "Twilight, I don’t know how I keep getting into these situations…"
I smirked. "Oh, I do. And I’m going to enjoy every second of it."
With that, we made our way back toward town, Star Tracker still mumbling to himself while I grinned the entire way.
And yet… despite how funny it all was, a tiny part of me still felt that strange little flutter in my chest.
I shook my head quickly. Nope. Not going there.
Just as I was about to shift my focus back to our errand, we rounded a corner and nearly collided with somepony stepping out of the spa.
“Oh! My apologies, darling—” Rarity started before pausing as she took a closer look at us. “Twilight! And… oh my, you must be the new stallion in town!”
Star Tracker, caught off guard, stepped back slightly. “Uh—y-yeah, that’s me.”
Rarity’s eyes gleamed with curiosity as she brushed back her freshly styled mane. “I must say, it’s quite a pleasure to finally meet you! I heard from Pinkie that there was a new pony in town, and I was simply devastated that I hadn’t had the chance to greet you sooner.”
I smirked, nudging Star Tracker’s side. “Well, you’re in luck. Star Tracker here has a special way of making an impression.”
He shot me a glance but only sighed with a knowing smile. “I feel like I should be worried about what that means.”
Rarity gave a delighted chuckle. “Oh, now you must tell me! What kind of impression has our dear Star Tracker made so far?”
I grinned. “Well, let’s just say he’s got quite the reputation already.”
Star Tracker groaned slightly. “Twilight…”
I giggled. “Fine, fine, I’ll behave. For now.”
Rarity’s intrigue only grew as she looked between us. “Oh, this sounds like a story I simply must hear. But first, Twilight, darling, were you two heading to the market?”
I nodded. “Yeah, we were just about to pick up a few things.”
Rarity smiled warmly. “Wonderful! I happen to be on my way there as well. Why don’t we walk together?”
I glanced at Star Tracker, who gave a small shrug, then back at Rarity. “Sounds good to me.”
And with that, the three of us made our way toward the market, the conversation flowing easily as we walked.
I had a feeling this was going to be interesting.
As we walked through town, getting closer to the market, the conversation remained light and casual. The streets were bustling with ponies going about their day, chatting, and browsing the stalls. The scent of fresh produce and baked goods filled the air, making the market feel lively as ever.
Rarity flipped her mane slightly as she glanced at me. "Twilight, darling, I must insist—you simply have to join me at the spa sometime. A little relaxation could do wonders for you!"
I smiled nervously. "Oh, um… I appreciate the offer, Rarity, but I don’t really think the spa is for me."
"Oh, nonsense!" Rarity huffed. "You work so hard with your studies and your royal duties—you deserve to be pampered every once in a while!"
I opened my mouth to come up with another excuse when, to my surprise, Star Tracker cut in.
"I could go with you," he said casually. "I mean, I know it’s not really a stallion thing, but I’ve always been interested in trying a spa. I just never got the chance."
Both Rarity and I blinked at him in surprise. "Wait," I said, raising an eyebrow, "you want to go to the spa?"
Star Tracker chuckled. "What? Can’t a stallion enjoy a bit of relaxation too?"
Rarity gasped in delight. "Oh my stars! A stallion who actually appreciates the finer things in life? This is marvelous!"
As she continued to gush about how more stallions should be open to self-care, Star Tracker leaned toward me and whispered, "You owe me one."
I giggled, nudging him playfully. "Alright, alright, I’ll remember that."
Rarity, still positively thrilled, suddenly had an idea. "Well then! Why don’t we all go together? It would be a lovely way to unwind!"
Before I could say anything, Star Tracker quickly spoke up, his voice smooth and casual. "Actually, how about just the two of us? You and me, Rarity. I mean, you are the expert when it comes to spa treatments. I’d love to experience it properly with somepony who really knows how to enjoy it."
Rarity’s eyes widened slightly before she let out a delighted giggle, clearly charmed by the idea. "Why, Star Tracker, that’s such a wonderful suggestion! I’d be absolutely delighted to introduce you to the wonders of the spa!"
I narrowed my eyes slightly at Star Tracker, catching the subtle smirk on his face. Oh, he knew exactly what he was doing.
"Perfect!" Rarity clapped her hooves together. "We’ll set a time for it later. But for now, let’s get to the market, shall we?"
Star Tracker gave me a quick glance, his expression saying mission accomplished. I rolled my eyes but smiled nonetheless.
With that, we continued our walk, the market now in sight, and I had to admit… Star Tracker might’ve been accidentally charming most of my friends, but at least he was learning how to use it to his advantage.
The market was as lively as ever as we stepped onto the cobblestone path lined with colorful stalls. The scent of fresh produce, baked goods, and flowers filled the air as ponies moved about, chatting and making their purchases.
Rarity and I stopped by a few stalls, picking up some fresh fruit, vegetables, and a few baked treats. The stall owners were, as always, friendly and welcoming, and Star Tracker seemed to be taking everything in with quiet fascination.
I had just finished paying for a small bag of apple tarts when I glanced around, expecting to find Star Tracker nearby. Instead, I spotted him a little ways off, standing near a stall decorated with bouquets of fresh flowers.
I narrowed my eyes slightly. Was that… the flower trio?
Daisy, Lily Valley, and Roseluck—three of the most excitable (and often overdramatic) mares in Ponyville—were gathered around Star Tracker, giggling and smiling as they chatted with him.
Rarity, noticing my distraction, followed my gaze and let out a small gasp. "Oh my, look at him," she said with a smirk. "Seems our dear Star Tracker is quite the social butterfly today."
I huffed. "Yeah, well, it’s probably because of his accidental flirting problem."
Rarity blinked, looking at me with genuine confusion. "His what now?"
I raised an eyebrow. "You haven’t noticed?"
Rarity tilted her head slightly, watching Star Tracker as Roseluck flipped her mane while saying something that made him chuckle. "Twilight, dear, he’s just being polite. What do you mean by flirting problem?"
I sighed. "You didn’t see him back at Sweet Apple Acres, He practically had Applejack blushing—and don’t even get me started on Granny Smith."
Rarity gave me a skeptical look. "Granny Smith?"
"Yes!" I whispered, exasperated. "And then, just barely an hour ago, he had Fluttershy blushing so much she kissed him on the cheek!"
Rarity gasped dramatically. "oh my!"
"Exactly!" I gestured toward him. "And now, this is happening."
Rarity glanced back at Star Tracker, who was still chatting happily with the flower mares, completely oblivious to how they were giggling and hanging onto every word he said.
After a pause, Rarity hummed in thought. "Well… now that you mention it, he does have a certain natural charm about him."
I sighed. "Yeah, and I don’t even think he knows he’s doing it."
Rarity giggled. "Oh, darling, that’s almost adorable."
I rolled my eyes. "Adorable? Rarity, at this rate, half of Ponyville is going to fall in love with him before sundown."
She smirked. "well if i didn't know any better i would say that you jealous"
I blinked, my cheeks suddenly feeling warm. "W-what?! Jealous, That’s not—! I would never—"
She smirked. "Well, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re jealous."
I blinked, my cheeks suddenly feeling warm. "W-what?! Jealous?! That’s not—! I would never—!" My words came out rushed, my voice slightly higher than usual as I stumbled over my response.
Rarity raised an eyebrow, watching me with quiet amusement. "Oh, darling, no need to get so flustered. I meant nothing by it."
I huffed, quickly turning my head away to avoid her knowing gaze. "I’m not flustered," I muttered, ears twitching as I fought to compose myself.
Rarity let out a small, elegant chuckle before flicking her mane. "Of course not, Twilight. Whatever you say."
I shot her a half-hearted glare, but before I could argue further, she gestured toward Star Tracker, who was still deep in conversation with Daisy, Lily Valley, and Roseluck.
"Now, shall we?" she said smoothly. "Before he gets all three of them to fall in love with him?"
I let out a sigh, shaking my head. "Yeah, let’s go before things get even worse."
With that, we made our way toward the flower stand, ready to rescue Star Tracker from yet another unintentional situation of his own making.
Celestia help me…
As Rarity and I made our way over, I could hear snippets of Star Tracker’s conversation with the flower mares.
“…and that’s when I realized I had been looking at the map upside down the entire time," he said with a laugh. "I must have wandered Manehattan for hours before I finally found the observatory."
Daisy giggled. "Oh my gosh, that sounds awful!"
Roseluck smiled. "Well, at least you didn’t give up! That’s dedication!"
Lily Valley nodded eagerly. "You must be really passionate about stargazing!"
Star Tracker chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, it’s kind of my thing. There’s something really calming about it, y’know?"
It wasn’t exactly flirting—just friendly conversation—but knowing his track record, I decided to step in before things spiraled out of control.
I smirked as I stopped beside him. "I hope you’re not doing your accidental flirting again."
Star Tracker turned to me, blinking in confusion. "Huh? What? No! We were just talking!"
Daisy, Lily, and Roseluck all exchanged curious glances before looking at me. "Accidental flirting?" Roseluck asked with a tilted head.
Rarity simply smiled, taking a sip of the tea she had picked up from a nearby stall, clearly content to let me handle this one.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh, don’t mind me. It’s just his thing, apparently. He somehow keeps charming everypony he talks to without even realizing it."
Star Tracker groaned, shaking his head. "I told you, Twilight, I don’t mean to do that!"
Daisy giggled. "Well, I don’t think he was flirting this time. He was just telling us about his adventures in Manehattan!"
Lily Valley nodded. "Yeah, he’s actually really fun to talk to!"
I gave Star Tracker a look. "Uh-huh. Sure. That’s exactly what Fluttershy said before she kissed you on the cheek."
Star Tracker instantly stiffened, his ears turning red as he muttered, "Twilight…"
The three flower mares gasped in unison. "Fluttershy kissed you?!"
Rarity let out a delighted giggle. "Oh yes, darling. It was quite a sight."
Star Tracker sighed, rubbing his temples. "This is never going to end, is it?"
I grinned. "Nope."
As the flower mares giggled amongst themselves, I decided we had teased him enough for now. "Come on, lover boy, we got to head back home, the sun is going down and i am getting a bit hungry,"
Star Tracker groaned again, but followed along as we made are way out of the market, leaving the giggling mares behind.
Rarity leaned in slightly, whispering with a knowing smirk, "You do realize you’re enjoying this a bit too much, don’t you?"
I huffed, looking away. "I have no idea what you’re talking about."
She just chuckled. "Mmmhmm. Whatever you say, Twilight."
I didn’t respond, just quickened my pace as we made our way to the next stall.
This day has been way to long…
As we finally escaped the giggling flower mares, I decided we’d had enough market adventures for one day. “Alright, loverboy,” I teased, nudging Star Tracker with my wing. “Let’s head back to the castle. Spike should have supper ready by now.”
Star Tracker sighed in relief. “Finally, a safe zone.”
Rarity chuckled beside us. “Oh, don’t think you’re safe just yet, darling. You do still have a spa day with me tomorrow.” She batted her lashes playfully.
Star Tracker gave a sheepish smile. “R-right. Looking forward to it.”
I rolled my eyes but smirked. “Well, have fun with that.”
Rarity waved as she trotted in the opposite direction. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Star Tracker. And Twilight, do try not to tease him too much before then.”
I giggled as we parted ways, walking toward the castle. The streets of Ponyville had grown quieter as the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting golden light over the rooftops.
When we entered the castle, the smell of something delicious immediately filled the air. Spike stood at the dining table, proudly setting out a steaming meal of roasted vegetables, fresh bread, and a warm apple cobbler for dessert. He looked up with a smug grin.
“Well, well, well,” he said, crossing his arms. “Look who finally decided to come home. And just in time for supper, too.”
Star Tracker smiled. “Wow, this looks amazing, Spike.”
The little dragon puffed out his chest. “Of course it does. Somepony had to make sure Twilight had a proper meal after she got spoiled this morning.”
I sighed, shaking my head as I sat down. “Oh, here we go.”
Spike turned to Star Tracker with a smirk. “You know, Tracker, I made supper and lunch today, while you only made breakfast. I think that means I win.”
Star Tracker chuckled. “Alright, alright, you got me. But to be fair, you are Twilight’s number-one assistant. I don’t stand a chance.”
Spike grinned. “Glad you understand.”
I rolled my eyes playfully. “Can we eat now?”
With that, we all dug into the meal, sharing stories of the day between bites. Despite all the teasing, I couldn’t deny that today had been… fun.
And as I stole a glance at Star Tracker—who was happily chatting with Spike—I found myself wondering…
What exactly am I going to do with this stallion?
Spike turned to Star Tracker with a smirk. “You know, Tracker, I made supper and lunch today, while you only made breakfast. I think that means I win.”
I looked at Spike, a bit taken aback. "Spike, that was rude. What’s gotten into you?"
Before I could say anything more, Star Tracker interrupted with a chuckle. "It’s fine, Twilight. He’s your number-one assistant. I get it." He then turned to Spike with a grin. "And Spike, I just made breakfast for her today as a thank you for letting me stay here. Plus, I couldn’t cook a full meal if I wanted to—I can only make simple stuff without burning anything."
Spike gave a small huff, crossing his arms defensively. "I guess I can’t argue with that."
Star Tracker leaned in a bit closer with a teasing glint in his eyes. "Don’t worry about it, Spike. I get it. You’ve got a little crush on Twilight, huh? I mean, anypony would get competitive over her."
Spike froze for a moment, his eyes widening in surprise. "Wh-what? I don’t—"
I immediately flushed bright red, my wings twitching awkwardly. "Star Tracker! What are you—"
Star Tracker just grinned, enjoying every moment of teasing Spike. "It’s okay, Spike. Don’t worry. I’m not going to steal her away."
Spike sputtered, trying to regain his composure. "I—I don’t have a crush on Twilight! I’m just… uh… her assistant, that’s all!"
I raised an eyebrow at Spike, trying to hold back a laugh. "You’re sure about that, Spike?"
Spike groaned, clearly flustered. "Okay, maybe a little bit. But you’re just way off if you think I’m getting competitive about her!"
Star Tracker, still grinning, gave Spike a pat on the back. "Sure, sure. It’s all good, Spike. But don’t worry, you’ll still be her number-one assistant no matter what."
Rarity would have been proud of my composure, because I did my best not to burst out laughing. Instead, I turned to Star Tracker with a smirk. "Well, looks like you’ve made a great impression with my assistant, at least."
Star Tracker winked. "What can I say? I’m just here to help."
I couldn’t stop myself from giggling, finally giving in to the humor of the moment. Spike, of course, rolled his eyes and muttered something about ‘not needing help from a stallion who makes breakfast.'
But I didn’t mind—it was nice, for once, to be surrounded by such lighthearted company.
As we settled in at the dining table, I took a moment to admire the meal Spike had prepared. The spread was impressive—he had gone all out. A large platter of sautéed vegetables sat in the center, the mix of bell peppers, carrots, and zucchini glistening under the warm candlelight. There was also a fresh garden salad tossed with a light vinaigrette, a loaf of warm bread with butter on the side, and a hearty potato and leek soup. And for dessert, the apple cobbler from earlier, still warm, its sweet aroma filling the room.
Star Tracker let out an impressed whistle as he picked up his fork. “Wow, Spike, this looks incredible.” He took a bite of the vegetables and hummed in satisfaction. “And it tastes incredible, too! I didn’t know you were such a great cook.”
Spike smirked, puffing out his chest. “Well, when you live with Twilight, you have to get good at cooking. Otherwise, it’s just hayburgers and burnt toast.”
I rolled my eyes, taking a spoonful of the soup. “That’s not true.”
Spike gave me a deadpan look. “Twilight, the last time you tried to make pancakes, you set off the smoke alarm.”
Star Tracker chuckled, covering his mouth with his hoof. “I feel like there’s a story there.”
“There’s lots of stories,” Spike muttered, taking a bite of bread.
I sighed, but I couldn’t help smiling as we continued our meal, the conversation flowing between us with ease. Star Tracker complimented Spike’s cooking several more times, which only fueled Spike’s smug attitude, but I had to admit—it was nice seeing them get along so well.
After finishing my portion of the apple cobbler, I sat back in my chair, sighing in contentment. “Alright, I’ll say it—Spike, that was amazing.”
Spike grinned. “I know.”
Star Tracker chuckled as he set down his fork. “Yeah, thanks for the meal, Spike. I think I’m officially spoiled now.”
Spike shrugged. “Hey, somepony’s gotta make sure you two don’t starve.”
I playfully rolled my eyes but smiled nonetheless. As we all sat there, full and satisfied, I glanced at Star Tracker, expecting to see him still at the table.
But he was gone.
I blinked, glancing around. “Huh?”
Spike looked up from his plate. “What?”
I frowned slightly. “Where’d Star Tracker go?”
Spike shrugged. “No idea. One second he was here, then poof. Guess he slipped out.”
I tilted my head, a small pang of curiosity stirring in my chest. Where would he go at this hour?
Pushing back my chair, I stood up. “I’ll be right back.”
Spike gave me a knowing look but didn’t say anything as I made my way toward the castle’s main doors.
And as I stepped outside, I had a feeling I already knew where to find him.
The cool night air greeted me as I stepped outside, the castle’s grand doors closing softly behind me. The quiet hum of the evening surrounded me—the rustling of leaves in the breeze, the faint chirping of crickets, and the distant hoot of an owl somewhere in the in the town,
I didn’t have to search for long. Just a short walk from the castle, beneath one of the tall oak trees that lined the hillside, sat Star Tracker. His back was against the sturdy trunk, a notebook balanced on one hoof as he scribbled something down. Every so often, he would pause, gaze up at the twinkling sky, then return to his writing with a thoughtful look.
I smiled softly as I watched him, remembering what I had told him on the cruise—that I would join him for stargazing one day. Guess now’s my chance.
Taking a few quiet steps forward, I finally spoke. “Didn’t think you’d slip away without telling me, did you?”
Star Tracker jumped slightly, his notebook nearly slipping from his grasp. “Ah—! T-Twilight?” He quickly steadied the book, turning to look at me with wide eyes.
I giggled. “Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you.”
He let out a small, nervous chuckle, rubbing the back of his head. “No, no, it’s fine! I just, uh… wasn’t expecting company.”
I tilted my head slightly. “Well, I did say I’d join you for stargazing sometime. Thought I’d keep my word.”
His ears perked up for a second before he quickly looked away, suddenly fidgeting with his notebook. “O-oh. Right. Y-you did say that…”
I raised an eyebrow at his sudden shift in demeanor. Was he… nervous?
Not wanting to make things more awkward, I simply smiled and gestured to the grass beside him. “Mind if I sit?”
Star Tracker hesitated for a split second before quickly shaking his head. “N-no! I mean, yeah! Uh— I mean—y-you can sit! Of course!”
I bit back a small giggle at his flustered response before settling down next to him, folding my wings neatly at my sides.
The stars shone brightly overhead, their soft glow reflecting in Star Tracker’s golden eyes as he glanced up at the sky. I could still feel a hint of nervous energy radiating from him, though I wasn’t sure why.
What was making him so flustered all of a sudden?
I settled down beside him, folding my wings neatly at my sides as I looked up at the endless night sky. The stars twinkled like tiny diamonds, scattered across the vast canvas of deep blue. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves above us, adding to the peacefulness of the moment.
But despite the quiet serenity of the night, I could feel Star Tracker’s nervous energy beside me. His ears twitched slightly, his hooves fidgeted against his notebook, and he kept glancing at me before quickly looking away.
I smirked slightly. "Alright, what’s up with you?"
He blinked, looking at me in confusion. "Huh?"
I giggled. "You’re acting all nervous. You’ve been stargazing your whole life, haven’t you? It’s not like this is new for you."
Star Tracker sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I, uh… I guess I’m just not really used to interacting with any other ponies at this hour. It’s usually just me and the stars."
I nodded, but before I could respond, he continued, his voice quieter.
"Especially not with a beautiful mare."
The second the words left his mouth, he froze. His eyes widened in horror as if his own brain had just betrayed him.
"I—I mean—uh—!" He stammered, his entire face turning red.
I couldn’t stop myself—I burst into a fit of giggles. "Wow, Star Tracker. Didn’t even last a whole night before the accidental flirting started again, huh?"
He groaned, covering his face with his hooves. "I swear I didn’t mean to say that out loud."
I nudged him playfully. "Mmhmm. Sure you didn’t."
His ears drooped slightly as he let out another sigh. "I really need to start thinking before I speak."
I smiled, shaking my head. "Relax, Star Tracker. It’s fine."
I smiled, shaking my head. "Relax, Star Tracker. It’s fine."
He let out a sigh of relief, but I could still see a hint of embarrassment in his eyes. I couldn’t help but tease him a little more. "You know, it’s cute that somepony finds me cute. And truth be told, I was kind of waiting for you to say something like that."
Star Tracker blinked, his expression turning even more flustered. "Wait, you were?"
I grinned, leaning back against the tree. "Yeah. I just thought it might take a little longer for you to work up the courage." I paused, then added with a playful tilt of my head, "But I guess beautiful mare is all I get."
Star Tracker’s face went from pink to downright crimson, and I could see him trying to figure out what to say next. Then, without warning, he pulled something from his bag and held it out toward me.
I blinked in surprise as he handed me a delicate pink rose. "I, uh… remember what I said earlier today. About having a crush on somepony?"
I couldn’t help but smile, my heart fluttering at the gesture. "Yeah, I remember."
Star Tracker’s expression softened as he took a deep breath, his voice growing more serious. "Well, the truth is, it’s you, Twilight. I’ve had a crush on you since I first saw you in Canterlot."
I was stunned into silence, staring at him as he continued, his eyes never leaving mine. "At first, it was just a celebrity crush. You know, from the stories I’d heard about you, the things ponies say… but then, the more I got to know about you, the more my feelings grew." He gave me a small, nervous smile. "When I got the chance to meet you on that cruise, I didn’t even think twice. I jumped at the chance."
My breath caught in my chest. "Star Tracker..."
He kept going, the sincerity in his voice making my heart race. "You’re the most beautiful, smart, kind pony I’ve ever met, Twilight. You should get all the admiration in the world. To most ponies, you’re just another princess. But to me..." His voice dropped slightly, full of emotion. "I see a pony. A pony who is just doing what she thinks is right, without caring about what others think."
I could feel the warmth of his words settle in my chest. I had never heard anyone speak to me like this. It was different from all the formal speeches, the flattery, and the praise I’d gotten over the years. This was real.
"You deserve more than just being seen as a princess," he continued, stepping a little closer. "You deserve to be seen for who you are. The kind-hearted, thoughtful pony who’s always there for others."
I felt my cheeks warming at the intensity of his gaze and the way his words made my heart skip. "Star Tracker..."
He took a step closer, his voice barely above a whisper now. "Twilight, I don't care about titles or crowns. I care about you. And I don’t think I could be any clearer about that if I tried."
I was speechless, caught between feeling a little overwhelmed and… something else I couldn’t quite place. His words felt too real, too genuine, and I couldn’t help but wonder if I was ready for this kind of attention.
But before I could respond, he added, with a hint of humor, "And, well… I’d say you’ve made me fall for you even harder by sitting out here with me, stargazing."
I couldn’t stop the soft laugh that escaped me, the tension easing just a little. "You sure know how to turn a moment around," I teased.
Star Tracker gave a shy grin, stepping back slightly. "Well, I try."
I looked at the rose in my hoof, still feeling the weight of his words. "Thank you, Star Tracker. This... this means a lot to me."
Star Tracker smiled softly, then gently took the rose from my hoof. Without missing a beat, he leaned in and tucked it carefully behind my ear, his hoof brushing against my mane.
The soft touch sent a flutter through me, and I couldn’t help but feel my heart race as I looked up at him. His eyes held mine, and for a moment, everything else seemed to fade away—the stars, the night air, even the sound of my own heartbeat.
My breath hitched slightly, the words caught in my throat. It was so much, too much, and I wasn’t sure how to react.
Without thinking, my hoof reached out instinctively, and before I realized what I was doing, I leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek.
Star Tracker froze, his eyes wide with surprise. But before he could say anything, I quickly pulled away, my heart pounding in my chest. "I—I should… go," I stammered, the warmth on my face spreading.
Without waiting for another word, I turned and dashed back toward the castle, my hooves moving faster than my mind could process. The cool night air felt sharp against my skin as I raced inside, my breath coming in quick bursts.
I closed the door behind me with a soft click, leaning against it as I tried to calm my racing heart.
What just happened?
Author's Note
The truth is out—Star Tracker has a crush on Twilight. But will she feel the same way? Or will one of the other ponies steal his heart?
There we go—an entire chapter, 9,000 words of pure flirting, laughs, and kisses. And the thing is, I could make it longer, adding a bit more time with each pony, except for Rainbow, Rarity, and Pinkie, who each get their own chapter.
Now if you don't mind, I'm getting some sleep
