To think it started with a tree..

Around 2 years ago

It was a normal day on the Apple Farm, a younger Applejack was bucking some trees for the day. She was alone in her work since Big Mac and granny were working on trying to make the young AppleBloom learn to walk.

The young AJ bucked another tree and the apples fell into the basket. She whipped the sweat off her forehead as the sun burned her skin. Before AJ was about to go to the next tree in line she stopped and began hitting her ear with her hoof.

I-Is ma’ ear ringing again? I swear it’s always annoying when this happens…

Now AJ began looking around for the source as the ringing got louder…

Now wha’ in the hay?

AJ then spotted something from the sky barreling towards her like a bullet. Her brain went into overdrive as it saw three options; Fight, Flight, or Freeze. Her brain chose the third option and she stiffened up.

COME ON NOW BODY! I CAN’T LET MYSELF GET HIT YA HEAR-

Aj felt the missile hit her in the stomach as she and the projectile went back and happened to hit a big tree, after the thing went off of her she collapsed on the ground from shock…and pain in her back.

“Oww…I-I’m sorry- Wait, hello? Oooohhh my gosh they're not moving, oh whatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo?” The voice said repeatedly while trotting around in circles.

AJ with her hurt head slowly got up, while trying to think who did this, she never heard that voice before in her life.

As AJ got up the pegasus sighed heavily in relief and blew some air out.

“Wooo! Thank Celestia your okay-”

“What was that for‽” The pegasus froze in AJ’s harsh tone. “I was TRYING to do some work here and you came flying out of the sky and hit me!” AJ roared and the air seemed to become cold as silence grew between the two mares.

“S-Sorry! I was just trying to practice flying aannnddd…kinda missed..” The pegasus tried to cover her face in embarrassment.

“But aren't pegasi GOOD at flying?” AJ said with a smirk, causing the pegasus to start being defensive.

“Wha-I-uh-W-Well. I AM good! I'm the best flyer in Equestria!”

“Theeeennn what happened just now..”

“W-Well, look okay, even the best like me can fail sometimes!”

“Sighhh. Look, just don’t do it ‘gain!” AJ said with a stomp of her hoof.

“Well, I’ll try, but all these trees are big obstacles…Why do you even have them?”

AJ then sat down and leaned on the tree, she knew this wasn’t the end of their talk.

“Well, I’m an apple farmer, Sweet Apple Acres needs to run their apple business to keep them goin’.”

“Hey…I think I’ve heard of your business..” The pegasus began to scratch her chin while stretching her wings.

“Guessin’ from the Zapples and Apple Cider?”

“There we go! Didn’t expect to run into somepony like you.”

AJ laughed as she got up and looked at the falling sun.

“Well, gotta get back to work, nice seein' ya. Name’s AppleJack.” She said while holding up a hoof, the pegasus shook her hoof and started to float while doing a pose.

“Well you were blessed with meeting the almighty Rainbow Dash! The name suits don’t ya think?”

“Hahaha! Yes it does…”

With that Dash flew away as AJ looked back at the apple basket.

I’m probably not goin’ ta meet that mare again..

Days went by and they met again and again as they became close friends. Then a new pony named Twilight showed up to Ponyville, then Nightmare Moon came, yada yada yada, just watch season 1.

Around 2 Years Later

Applejack stood in the bathroom and put the final piece in place before smiling to herself in the mirror. She had replaced her red bands on her mane and tail with rainbow ones, she also added a rainbow gradient streak on her mane and tail as well. AJ felt her chest warm up at the si-

“Applejack, where are you-. Uhhhhhh AJ?” Applejack’s eyes widened as she turned around in a flash to see Applebloom looking at her with her jaw on the floor. AJ’s face turned red as she tried to cover herself, but orange stands out against a white wall.

“What is that your doin’?” Applebloom said obviously.

“N-Nothin’ just….getting stylized for the Zapple season!” AppleJack tried to lie, but being the element of honesty when she told that lie she couldn’t help herself and did a shifty eye movement. Applebloom only laughed and smirked.

“Hahaha! Now I kno’ that’sa lie. Zapple season doesn’t start till next month.” AppleJack facehoofed herself in her mind, then Applebloom tried to connect the dots.

“Waaaiittt…Rainbow bands, rainbow streak, rainbow…rainbow…rainbo-. D-Does this have something to do with Rainbow Da-” AJ put her hoof over her mouth.

“N-No, just uh….uh…w-well.” Her blush deepened as she looked away.

“Wait’a minute..Y-Your...Y-You have..f-feelings for Rainbow Dash?” Okay, now the blush on the entire face.

“N-Nonononno…I-I just…I-I it’s not like that! I-I just have some…things to tell her..”

“So..you're not in love with Dash, yet you need to tell her somethin’?” Applebloom only smirked at her sister who felt like she was going to melt.

I-Is it getting hot in here?

Applejack only sighed and looked down.

“I-I…Y-Yes…I do….love Dash..” That last part being only a whisper, but Applebloom only squealed and jumped around her sister.

“Eeeeee! OhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygosh! My sister has a cru-” Again a hoof to the mouth.

“K-Keep it down ya hear?” Alright, AJ definitely felt like she was about to have a heat stroke on her face. Applebloom only giggled as she took her sister's hoof off.

“Alright alright, I just can’t believe my sister is in love, and with a mare- s-sorry..” AJ only sighed and rubbed her on the head.

“Look, I invited Dash over to tell her….everything, just don’t spread the word until I do the talkin’!” With that Applebloom gave a salute which made AJ chuckled as she walked to one of the trees in her orchard, the same tree Dash hit her into when they met.

With a land on the ground and a fold of her wings, she was there.

“So..You wanted to see me?”

“Y-Yes and I gotta show you somethin’” With that AJ went out of the tree she hid behind. Just like Applebloom, Dash’s jaw hit the floor at the sight of the farmer, her eyes sparkling with stars. Aaaannndd there goes the red face again.

Come on AJ! Get it together!

“W-Woooowww! AJ, you look...awesome! Ha, just like me!” Dash put a hoof to her chest before her face became blank, she was now connecting the dots and AJ began sweating.

“W-Why do you even have that on? D-Don’t get me wrong it looks good..and..suits you. B-But why?”

“A-L-Let’s just talk about that later, b-but look here, remember this? This tree, ringin’ a bell?” Dash stood next to AJ to also get a good look at the tree, now again, red was on the farmer’s face.

“Yes..wasn’t this the tree that I..hit you on the day we met.”

AJ took a deep breath and looked at the pegasus in the eyes.

“Yes, and I did this makeover..cus a you, I remember that day we met and we’ve become close friends..now, I-I gotta tell ya a thin’ that’s been…bothering me for a while.”

Applejack was now shaking and sweating waiting for the mare’s response, Dash just stood there with wide eyes, jaw to the floor, and a blush.

Oh sweet Celesta! I made a big mistake! Our friendship’s over! WhatdidIdo?WhatdidIdo?WhatdidIdo?WhatdidIdo?

It all happened in a flash, so fast AJ couldn’t signal anything when it happened. Dash in an instant, placed a kiss on her cheek, then flew up super face with a red face.

“See ya AJ!” The farmer stood there watching the pegasus fly away faster than ever. A red faced pony stood there while she heard a cheering filly around a mile away cheer her on, but it was all muffled as she fainted onto the grass below…
