The Round World
Prologue: The Dimension
Load Full StoryNext Chapter“DUUUUUUDE!” A high-pitched voice cut into my sleep, which I had a huge lack of. My hands went to my eyes after my mistake of opening them, for the bright sun pierced into my bedroom through the curtains.
“WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!” The voice continued commanding. I knew I had to obey it; otherwise I’d just suffer from a very minor case of serious brain damage. I flicked the blanket off me, revealing that I still had my clothes on from the night before.
“WAKE—oh… You’re awake.” The voice cut off when its owner saw me rise from the bed. Its red eyes stared directly into mine.
“Oh… Hi Jones,” I mumbled, “Any reason you keep on constantly disturbing my sleep these days?”
“Well… no,” was all he could say. His blocky hand reached behind him and pulled out some… strange object. It was like a pickaxe, much like the ones I’m familiar to, but it looked as if it was made of… bedrock…
“Where did you get that?” I asked, since it was uncommon enough for bedrock tools and items, let alone diamond.
“Well… I’d rather not say…” Jones replied, his voice blatantly revealing that he was hiding something.
“Which dimension did you travel to this time…?” I asked, since that was what he normally did overnight.
“I don’t know… it was far different than any of the normal dimensions I’ve been to,” he began, placing his block-like hand on his cube head, thinking, “It was so strange… Everything was curved, but it wasn’t from pixels… it was… smooth,” he went on, the memory seeming to have vanished for he was searching for words quite often.
“Smooth?” I question. How could something be smooth? Just from nature, everything was made of squares or pixels or cubes… Never was anything smooth…
“Yes,” he responds, “It was smooth with round sides… some sort of alien-made objects, I presume…”
“I would suppose so,” I agree, “but, how could they have the materials to make anything round in the first place?”
“Hell if I know!” He takes a defensive stance. “But everything was curved, nonetheless. Everything, Murk, Everything…”
I took his response, the obvious answer hitting me as if it were a hammer. “We must head to this dimension at once!” I declare, “Bring everything you think we might need!”
“Yes sir!” Jones replies with glee, as I notice him take a stack of TNT.
“TNT…? Really?” I question. I begin to chuckle as a stupid look overcomes his face.
“Well… Yes!” He returns, “Never know when we need to blow some crap up!” He finishes, laughing while he places the stack in his inventory.
“Well then,” I begin, “Let us find this portal you used… And hopefully get some observations out of this dimension.”
“There’s just one problem, Murk.” Jones interrupts.
“Oh?” I regain my senses. There was always a catch. “What might that be? We need to fly or something?”
“No,” Jones’ reply begins, “There were creatures there…”
“W-w-what?” I ask, stunned.
“Creatures of many different colors and sizes, but mostly the same shape,” he continues, his eyes looking upward as he tries to recall the memory.
“What did they look like?” I question, still trying to regain control from the last statement.
He thinks for a moment before replying. “They were… round, like the landscape… They had four little legs, and a clearly sporadic type of hair style… They had tails, which normally matched their hair colors… They also had two little ears above their round heads, of which their nose and mouth stuck out from just a little bit.”
I pause, trying to picture this horrid creature in my mind. “For such a strange creature, that is quite the description,” I comment before asking, “did you overhear any conversations…?”
He stops in his tracks, the two of us now being half-way across the land-bridge to the portal. The blocky overhang matched well with the rising square known as the sun. “Yes, two of them… They spoke almost exactly like us…”
“Then why did you need to stop to recall…?” I question, already trying to figure out why he had indeed come to a grinding halt.
“Their names, Murk, their names were so weird,” He answers, thinking probably about a few of their names.
“What were they…?” I ask.
“From the four that I overheard, one of the names was… Pinkie Pie,” He states, the last two words coming out with a strange look on his face.
“Pinkie Pie?” I ask, the name striking a nerve of familiarity in my mind. I suddenly felt a sporadic wave of energy.
“Yes… She was talking to one called Twilight Sparkle,” Jones said this flatly, obviously more calmed by this name. Anyone who has the word sparkle or sparklez in their name is normally greeted by me and Jones with welcoming arms.
“Interesting,” Is all I respond with.
“The other two were called Applejack,” he paused to chuckle at the stupidity of the name, “and Rarity.”
Although I didn’t share his type of humor at the first pony’s name, the second name caught me off guard. “Rarity, you say?” I ask, the name reminding me of several things at once.
“Yes,” he replies eagerly, “from her accent I believe she sounded like she was a beauty queen.”
We both laughed after Jones mentioned that.
“I can understand why,” I agree. “with a name like Rarity, I’d guess it has something to do with gemstones…”
“Why?” Jones asks me, not catching on to my joke.
“Well, most gemstones have a high rarity of spawning.” I say before breaking off into laughter.
With a quick glance, I notice Jones literally fall onto the floor and begin laughing uncontrollably.
By the time we finally reached the portal, the sun was directly above our heads.
“Well,” Jones begins, “I’d like to see these creatures…”
“Indeed,” I agree. With that, we both leap into the purple-glowing portal, unaware of the adventure we will find ourselves in once we reach the other side, and beyond that moment…
To be continued…
