Equestria has fallen. Not by an invading force or an ancient bent rising from the pages of history or a brand new foe from nowhere.
No, on this particular Nightmare Night, the Sun has not appeared at its appointed time, the darkness is not lifted… and nightmarish horrors beyond understanding are twisting and altering everything and everypony in new and terrifying ways.

Yet even now, in this dark and fallen world, a few brave souls stand together regardless of what they have paid or must pay, both for their own lives and the survival and salvation of the world.
