There's an old statue near the Everfree, on the outskirts of Ponyville. Every Nightmare Night, foals donate their candy to the mascot of the holiday, Nightmare Moon, at this statue that depicts her.

What they don't do is think about how that statue originated from overflowing candy problem at the Ponyville town hall, a check for $75,000, and a stallion who dedicated four months to its creation. And maybe, just maybe, a bit of interference from the Nightmare herself.
