Life and Times of Zokow
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryForest near the Equestrian Border
It is early morning as the sun is beginning to rise into the sky, shining its radiant light upon the land of Equestria. A young stallion is woken up by the sun rays peeking through his window as he sits up and climbs out of bed, landing on his hooves and shaking himself awake. Walking over to a nearby mirror and looking at himself, he sees his emerald green eyes, dark blue coat, black stripes, blue horn, and black and green striped mane. He sighs deeply as his light shimmer green magic envelopes his horn. It picks up a brush, and he brushes his mane a bit, fixing it as if it were messy from waking up. Once it is in order, he heads to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.
He then tossed the toothbrush in the trash as he walked out of the bathroom, gathering saddlebags filled with his items. He looks carefully at his room, knowing he will never see it again. He then heads down the hall, peeking into another room. It looked untouched for years but is perfectly preserved. He seemed deeply saddened when looking upon it but took a deep, calming breath as he continued to move through the house until he got to the table, where he looked at a piece of paper written by his father.
“Dear Son, if you are reading this, then your mother and I have passed, and you are now 20 years old. We are sorry we are no longer there for you, but please know we love you deeply, and as your father, your mother had one wish, which is that you go out into the world. We are sorry for keeping you hidden for so long, but we did it to protect you and ourselves. If you decide you want to honor your mother, then we request you burn down the house. It would be best if you took this journey, my son, and destroying the house ensures you do not look back…… I love you, Zokow. Please find love and be happy. Love Mom and Dad.”
As Zokow read the letter, he started to sob but fought back the tears as he headed outside, leaving the letter on the table. As he stands outside his family home, he looks at it. His horn glows as he launches a fireball into the house. It catches fire, and the fire spreads. He looks to the right and walks over to two gravestones. He slides them. “Goodbye, Mom, Dad. I promise I will find my happiness.” He gives the graves a big tooth-filled smile as tears stream down his face. As he looks once more at his family home, engulfed in flame, he begins walking away, heading deep into the forest… there was no turning back.
For days, he traveled through the forest and across the plains of Equestria, hoping to find a place to settle down and find meaning after what seemed like weeks of travel. He appeared in a daze as he wandered into a town. He was tired and hungry until he bumped into some soft, plump and.. pink. His eyes widened a bit as he pulled back, seeing a massive, plump pink flank. He blushed heavily as he gawked at its size.
As the one with the enormous flank turned around. She had a curly pink mane and beautiful blue eyes; Zokow stammered as he struggled to speak, only able to say “Hi…” before the Pinkie jolted into the air and disappeared in a pink blur. as Zokow sighed heavily as the beautiful pink mare jolted away he then saw a purple unicorn carrying someone as she dashed past him causing him to spin around and then collapse from dizziness as a hoard of mares then proceeded to trample him. as he slowly began to lose consciousness. Zokow awakens in pain as night has fallen, sighing as he is still hungry and now in pain.
As he gets up, he feels someone bump into him again. He groans as he turns around and sees the purple unicorn from earlier. “Hello, Miss, you remember me?” giving her an annoyed look.
As the purple unicorn looks at him closely, she remembers running past him earlier that day. “Yes, sorry about that. Uh, what happened to you?” She looks concerned and confused. She only remembers rushing past him as five other mares approached and stood behind her alongside a dragon.
“Well, what happened is after you rushed past me, causing me to spin, I collapsed and then was trampled by that stampede of mare chasing you…” he looked a tad bit annoyed more at the fact he got trampled. “I just got into town, and I am starving. I have been traveling for days, maybe weeks. Things got weird a while back when the sun did not rise at one point…” his thoughts were interrupted by his stomach growling loudly as he blushed on his dark blue coat and looked away in embarrassment.
The purple mare smiled happily, “Well, my friends and I will celebrate. Would you like to come with us? Consider it an apology for earlier today.” She looked at him, and he looked at her with a shocked expression.
“I would appreciate it, Miss Zokow.” He looked happy; if he had the energy to do so, he would jump for joy.
The purple mare smiles, “It is no problem. My name is Twilight Sparkle, and these are my friends.” First, she points to each: an orange pony with a fit, well-toned body, green eyes, and blonde mane tied back with a red hairband wearing a stepson: “This is Applejack.” The mare tips her stepson, “Howdy, partner. Welcome to Ponyville.”
Before Twilight can continue, Zokow’s stomach starts growling again as Applejack speaks, “Let us get this stallion some grub before he falls over, then we can introduce ourselves. “ Twilight chuckles nervously as they walk together to a nice restaurant to celebrate and eat.
Author's Note
Trying to get better at writing I'm sure it's not very good so I will take any all criticism that can be provided also currently working on a rewrite of the first chapter.
