Luigi...and Twilight's Mansion
Chapter 4: The Rigged Room
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“I’ve only been here for not even an hour, yet I already feel like this isn’t how this world should be,” I said. We were trotting back down the black, twisted, and disheartening path, I kept seeing all the homes, covered in planks, webs, and misery. It reminded me of when I visited the alternate timelines not too long ago, except it felt worse knowing that this was no alternate timeline, this was an alternate world.
“That’s because it isn’t, nothing here is how it should be,” Luigi said with a quieter voice than Fluttershy’s. I also noticed his hat was tilted a little, covering his eyes.
“If I may ask…what was this world supposed to be?” I asked, trying to lift the conversation.
“Honestly, it was a beautiful place, the grass was very green, the town was always cheerful, and all the toads were peaceful and kind and everything seemed right, well, until we got invaded like every other week,” Luigi explained.
“You guys get invaded a lot? By who?” I asked.
“Bowser, my brother’s rival, the evilest creature you’ll ever meet,” Luigi explained.
“Well, me as well as my friends have beaten a lot of evil creatures, I'm sure he can’t be as bad as we’ve faced before,” I said as I saw an oh-so-small smile come across Luigi’s face.
“Say, what have you faced before?” Luigi asked.
“Let's see, Nightmare Moon, Discord, the spirit of chaos and disharmony, when he was evil, King Sombra, Lord Tirek, a creature obsessed with draining magic, and quite a few others,” I explained as I saw Luigi’s face turned a little scared. “Oh, sorry if I freaked you out,” I said.
“It’s…it’s fine, I get scared easily, it’s ok,” Luigi explained.
“I’ve been there before, I’ve been scared every time I had to face a villain, with or without my friends,” I said.
“How do you think I feel? I’ve had to battle King Boo three times now, yet each time has been more terrifying than the last,” Luigi said in a scared voice.
“Hey, did anyone say batting evil wouldn’t be terrifying?” I asked. “I…I suppose you’re right,” Luigi said as the small smile came back to his face. I was about to comfort him again until I saw that we were here.
“Is…that?” I asked as I pointed my hoof at the Palace.
“That should be it, Ghost Palace,” Luigi said with fear.
“So this is where you’re brother and that princess Peach are being held captive?” I asked.
“I….think so,” Luigi said.
“Well, let’s head in, save your friends, and defeat this ghost king!” I said as I found the front door to the palace as me and Luigi slowly walked up.
“Are you ready?” I asked as I placed my right hoof on the right side of the door.
“I think I am,” Luigi said as he placed his left…hand on the left side of the door. We both slowly opened the door as Luigi held his flashlight at the ready.
“M….Mario?” Luigi quietly asked as we both entered the palace and froze. “Mama Mia, what has he done to you?” Luigi asked quietly. The whole room had no lights, yet we both could see everything. The walls were brown, dark brown, and the floorboards were creaky, the ceiling was a little leaky and the whole room just felt…what’s the word? Omminense.
“What in Equestria happened here?” I asked in horror.
“I’m going to make King Boo and Hellen Gravely pay for what they’ve done to her castle!” Luigi exclaimed with pure anger.
“Wait, who does this castle belong to?” I asked.
“Princess Peach, she runs the kingdom, though nothing like this has happened before to her castle,” Luigi explained as we slowly trotted through the long hallway, or at least it felt like a long hallway.
“Where do we even start to look? They could be anywhere in this place,” I said as I looked around the room.
“Hm, if I know my haunted places, I’d say we should start at the first floor,” Luigi said as he pointed to what seemed to be a door. We trotted towards it and he tried to open the door, but it wouldn’t budge. “Hm, I’m sure it seems we’ll need a key here,” Luigi said when I heard a noise that sounded like movement and keys jingling. “Quick, hide!” Luigi quietly whispered as we both looked for a place to hide, unfortunately, there wasn’t one.
“Prevent that plummer and pony from leaving, check!” A blue figure said as this figure pulled out a key and locked the front door, trapping us in this haunted place. “Say, I wonder what’s for lunch…!” The blue figure said to himself as he turned around…and saw me and Luigi.
“AHHHH!” Me and Luigi both screamed in fear.
“Oh great, they're already here, well this will be fun!” The blue figure said just as these purple and blue gates appeared, blocking off the door and staircases. “Time for me to become the boss’s #1 ghost!” The blue ghost said.
“What do we do?” I whispered to Luigi. “Duck!” Luigi said as I ducked right when the ghost extended his wrist, intending to punch us in the face, unfortunately, he got Luigi at the last second.
“I caught green stash! I’m becoming the favorite ghost once the king traps you for good!” The ghost said with excitement.
“What do I do now?” I asked with panic.
“Ok…uh…point your flashlight at the ghost, quickly now!” Luigi exclaimed as I spotted my flashlight and pointed it at the ghost. “Press the button!” Luigi exclaimed as I pressed it as hard as possible, and the ghost lit up.
“AHH, the brightness!” The Ghost exclaimed as he proceeded to rub his eyes.
“Alright, now you just gotta suck him into you’re vacuum, press the vacuum button!” Luigi exclaimed as I pressed the button and the flashlight changed into what looked like a vacuum cleaner.
“Here it goes!” I said as I got the ghost by its tail.
“NO! I refuse to be sucked up!” The ghost exclaimed as it moved quickly around the room, forcing me to move with it.
“Uh, resistance to the pulling, move in the opposite direction Twilight!” Luigi exclaimed as the ghost still had a tight grip on him.
“I…I think I got it!” I said as more and more of the ghost started to get pulled into the Ponygust.
“NOOOOOOO I was about to be the favorite for once!” The ghost exclaimed as I fully sucked him up into the Ponygust and Luigi was freed.
“You did it Twilight!” Luigi exclaimed with happiness and he gave me a pat on the back.
“That…that was scary…yet exhilarating!” I said with a little bit of sweat coming down my face.
“You’ll get used to it…and look!” Luigi said as he pointed to a key right next to me.
“That ghost must have dropped that key,” I said as I picked it up.
“That must lead to the next room, care to do the honors?” Luigi asked as he pointed to the door from before.
“Why yes I do!” I said as I trotted to the first-floor door and placed the key into the keyhole. The key then went into the door as it disappeared, and unlocked. “Let's press onward!” I said as me and Luigi entered the door and it closed behind us.
