The Rainbow's Softer Side
Rainbow Dash flew over to the cloud house holding the studio of the semi-famous Madame Soft Touch.
Landing on the doorstep, she took a deep breath. 'Okay... What was that dumb code phrase again? Oh! Yeah!'
Closing her eyes, she said, "Time to take center stage!".
The transformation wasn't exactly instant, but it was painless. First her eyes changed from their typical pinkish tint to a bright periwinkle, like the morning sky. Her wings turned a darker blue at the primers. Her mane lengthened with the magic, pulling itself into a smooth, lustrous ponytail, also smoothing out the jagged edges she usually had. Something similar happened to her tail
Where Rainbow Dash previously stood, there was now Prisma Glow.
She shook her head briefly. "My stars, I sincerely doubt I shall ever get used to that." She then tapped at the door, politely. Whereas her previous self would have opened the door immediately after, she waited for the invitation to enter.
Inside, the area was decorated with pink ribbon, purple lights, a bluish carpet (goodness knows how she managed that with a cloud) and in several spots all over the room there were ponnequins with various dresses. Along the walls there were what would appear to be silhouettes of Ponies in various poses, all in shades of pink.
It was very possibly the... Third most girly building that she'd ever seen or been in.
But she was okay with that.
"Madame? I have come at your request." She offered, before stepping in further.
A voice came from slightly further in. "Ah! You're here. Yes, yes. Come this way, please."
They both knew that she was aware of Prisma being there already, but both ignored that.
When seeing her new employer, she bowed respectfully. She was, after all, still a Princess. "What would you have me do, Madame?"
Cadence smiled. "Nice seeing you again, Prisma. Are you ready to do this?"
"Just say the word."
"Alright! Just step onto the platform there." Cadence said, pointing.
As Prisma took her spot, a set of dresses was drawn out. There were several in various styles and colours. One was a ball gown much like what she had worn on that day.
When she said as much, Cadence smiled. "Actually, that IS the one you had then. This is mostly for reference."
Oh. Still, it fit perfectly.
One after another: a sky blue drop-waist dress with slots for her wings, which added a sort of ethereal effect to them. There were trails of her exuding Mana wafting from her wings for a short distance. There was a chromatic sundress which shifted colour s;owlyly as one wore it; a sapphire v-line dress that sparkled when the light hit it at different angles...
Then, the fashionista Princess said, "The next onea will be somewhat different from the usual. There have been some new dresses made that fit on a mare of a... Different condition."
Prisma rolled her eyes. "Please, speak plainly."
Cadence took a deep breath. "Very well. I will need to cast a temporary spell. That will better explain. May I?"
Prisma elected to be seated for this one. "You may fire when ready."
And so she did. Prisma felt her midsection filling out a bit. Then more. And more.
"How do you feel?" She was asked.
Slightly sickly, she replied, "Feeling somewhat bloated. But otherwise okay. What happened?"
"For this remainder of the session, you're temporarily going to feel about six months pregnant. Pegasi of your height and general frame can also become this way, of course. Therefore, I felt it necessary that, should the inevitable happen, there will be something... Appropriate."
Prisma nodded. That seemed reasonable. As long as she wasn't going to actually have a foal anytime soon.
The first dress came. It was a rich violet sheath style dress and It had small stars speckled across it. When Prisma put it on, she felt like her previously bloated belly was back to normal. Or close to normal, anyway.
Cadence explained, "Evening wear. Most pregnant mares feel a lot of discomfort at night. Or most times, for that matter. This helps to mitigate that."
She started to take several measurements. It was still a touch tight, even with the enchantments.
The next dress was in an empire style. It had somewhat similar effects, but to a lesser extent. It sparkled in the light. Just slightly. This one was close to perfect.
"Everyday wear. Naturally most Ponies wouldn't wear something like this on the regular, though. Then again..."
The next one dress came. This one looked to be a bodycon style outfit. When she put that on, it had more the look of a sheath dress.
She felt herself being toughened somehow. Her belly still showed significantly. This was also a bit tight, and Prisma stated as much.
"That one is deliberately so." Cadence explained. "Some mares like... showing off a bit, if you catch my drift. The enchantment of this one is a greater irongut spell. It wil protect the wearer and their foals. Also, it makes things easier on the organs. Bearing foals can be unsurprisingly hard on those."
She then took some measurements again.
After that was a Ballgown, which was a magenta hue.
"Hmm. This might just be your colour."
Prisma winced slightly. Whether in her refined or unrefined forms, she wasn't a fan of pink tones. Naturally, neither of them ould tell Cadence as much. Still, she did like the dress itself.
Next was a sort of wrap dress. "This is a kimono." Cadence said. "First impression?"
"From the look of it, it's an accident waiting to happen."
Cadence chuckled at that. "True. magicless this is practically a death trap. However, Soft Touch is also a skilled enchanter, remember ? Try walking around a bit."
prisma complied and found that this outfit did indeet not trip her at all. Better yet, it supported her pseudo pregnancy. She smiled. "Light, supportive and unobtrusive. I like it. I think this design will be popular."
Cadence grinned at that. 'I thought so, it has enchantments for those very things. '
Measurements again; this one was the perfect size. Nice.
The next dress was a halter style dress, an azure blue and white gold combo. "This looks nice. I'm not sure how many pregnant mared will wear this, though." it was a bit on the loose side.
"Fair enough." Cadence conceded.
Lastly was a sort of pegged dress. It was another magenta dress. It was light, steadied her gait and was also surprisingly easy to don. When Prisma said as much, Cadence said, "Ah, so you noticed." she nodded. "That one is enhanced with the irongut and feather weight enchantments. Also, it has a feather fall one. Try rising a bit."
With a bit more effort than usual, Prisma rose about five or six meters. When she stopped flapping, she found herself slowly returning to the cloudstuff below. "Nice." she commented.
"Right? Anyway, that's all i need at present. Thank you."
Prisma deftly doffed the dress and tossed it to the ponnequin it was previously on. "If i may take my leave? I believe my other self wants her life back." she half joked.
"Yes, of course. You are dismissed." she said, dispelling the form change. "I'll contact you when i need you."
Prisma nodded. "The party is over."
Quickly, the changes reverted, leaving Rainbow Dash where Prisma Glow stood seconds ago. "Jeez. That'll never be comfortable." she said, holding her head.
Nodding demurely to the royal artiste, Rainbow flew off, hoping to get some distance before somepony noticed her presence.
