The war with the Changelings continues to drag on, with no immediate end in sight. Commissar Prince Blueblood has finally landed himself in the safe, secure, and boring desk job that he always wanted, hundreds of miles from the front. Unfortunately for him, the enemy has chosen to bring the front to him when a swarm is sighted just outside Ponyville.

Appointed to lead the village's defence, Blueblood is caught between a militia of peasants who barely know how to hold a spear, supervising Twilight Sparkle and her friends, and tensions with their unlikely reinforcements, to say nothing of the ravenous horde descending upon him.
