The wedding
Previous Chapter"You look absolutely radiant," whispered Rarity into the mirror, her reflection smiling back with excitement. She had spent hours crafting the perfect wedding dress—a masterpiece of shimmering fabrics and intricate lace, a creation that would surely make every pony’s jaw drop. The room was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and the soft whispers of anticipation drifting in from outside.
The door to her chamber creaked open, and in slipped Twilight Sparkle, her eyes wide with a mix of joy and nerves. "Rarity, it’s time," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Everything is ready for the ceremony."
Behind her, the rest of their friends appeared one by one, their faces glowing with excitement. Applejack adjusted her hat, her honest grin as warm as a summer day. "Well, sugarcube, if that ain’t the most stunning dress I’ve ever laid eyes on, I don’t know what is."
Pinkie Pie bounced in, practically vibrating with energy. "Ooooh, it’s going to be the most super-duper fabulous wedding ever! I’ve got the cake, the streamers, the balloons—oh, and did I mention the cupcakes?"
Fluttershy hovered just behind, her gentle smile full of admiration. "You look so beautiful, Rarity. Everyone’s going to be so amazed."
Even Rainbow Dash, trying to play it cool, gave a nod of approval. "Yeah, you’re gonna knock ‘em dead. Not literally, though. That’d be bad for a wedding."
At that moment, three small, familiar voices chimed in from the doorway. "Rarity! You look amazing!" exclaimed the Cutie Mark Crusaders in unison. Sweetie Belle, her little sister, ran up to give her a tight hug. "I’m so proud of you! You’re going to be the most beautiful bride ever!"
Scootaloo grinned, her wings buzzing with excitement. "Yeah, you’re gonna totally wow everypony!"
Apple Bloom adjusted the ribbon in her mane and added, "And don’t worry—we triple-checked the flower petals and decorations. Everything’s perfect!"
Spike entered next, carrying a small box with the wedding rings. His cheeks were a faint shade of pink as he looked at Rarity in her gown. "Wow, Rarity… You’re… amazing. I mean, you always are, but today especially." He gave her an encouraging thumbs-up, his green eyes twinkling. He decide to this was rarity day. He still loved her but he realized she was happest with him.
Rarity’s parents, Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles, stepped in with proud smiles. "Oh, our little girl’s all grown up!" said Cookie, dabbing at her eyes with a handkerchief. Hondo chuckled, his booming voice full of pride. "You’re making us so proud, sweetheart."
Berry Glow and Lily Pad, two of Rarity’s close friends from her earlier days, peeked in as well, each offering warm congratulations.
Twilight stepped aside to let the groom, Solar Night Dust, enter with his best stallion, Swift Dig. Solar’s deep blue coat and silvery mane caught the light as he approached, his golden eyes locking with Rarity’s. "You’re breathtaking," he whispered, his voice steady despite the emotions swimming in his gaze.
Swift Dig grinned and nudged Solar playfully. "Told you she’d take your breath away, buddy. She’s a stunner."
Pott Bits and Amethyst Pond, two more of Solar’s friends, joined the group, their cheerful laughter helping ease the tension in the room.
Mud Flower and Golden Crown entered next, each carrying bouquets of fresh blossoms. Mud Flower, known for her earthy elegance, smiled warmly as she placed the final touches on the floral arrangements. "Every detail is perfect, Rarity. You’ve outdone yourself."
Golden Crown, with her sophisticated air and impeccable style, adjusted Rarity’s veil and beamed. "You look every inch the queen of the day, darling. The kingdom of love belongs to you and Solar today." Her golden mane shimmered under the light, adding a touch of radiance to the moment.
Suddenly, a soft rustle and the clink of armor signaled the arrival of Shadow Brisk, Luna’s bat pony guard. His dark-gray coat and leathery wings contrasted against the bright decorations, and his piercing golden eyes surveyed the room with calm precision. He bowed deeply before Rarity and spoke with a voice as smooth as nightfall.
Rarity smiled warmly at the stoic guard. "Thank you, Shadow Brisk. You bring a touch of elegance to the proceedings."
Shadow Brisk allowed a small smile to creep onto his otherwise serious face. "It is an honor to be here. May this day bring you joy beyond measure." He stepped back, standing near the door in quiet vigilance.
Finally, Princess Luna and Princess Celestia entered, their regal presence filling the chamber. Celestia smiled warmly, her mane flowing with an ethereal glow. "Rarity, you look magnificent. Today is a day of celebration, and it’s clear the love here will make it unforgettable."
"Swift Dig is ready," said Solar Night Dust, his voice steady but filled with emotion.
Rarity and Solar Night Dust stood side by side, their gazes meeting with love and anticipation.
Swift Dig stepped forward, holding a small box containing carefully prepared leaves. "These leaves will make you one," he declared with ceremonial gravitas, offering them to the couple.
Golden Crown smirked, her tone dripping with amusement. "Looks like we’re going to have to share her," she said, watching Rarity and Solar Night Dust with a mischievous gleam in her eye.
A collective gasp rippled through the room, confusion and surprise spreading among the guests.
"We’re not going to share her," Solar Night Dust said firmly, his voice full of authority. His horn glowed with a brilliant light, and in an instant, he cast a powerful spell at Golden Crown.
The spell hit her squarely, and in a flash of light, she transformed. When the light dissipated, Golden Crown stood there, now a pegasus, her wings outstretched and her face twisted in shock. "What have you done to me?" she shouted, her voice full of anger and disbelief.
Solar Night Dust stood tall, unwavering. "The leaves will no longer work for you, Golden Crown. You’ve lost your power over us."
Rarity, her eyes glowing with an intense red hue, revealed her sharp fangs and bat-like features. "Leave," she commanded in a voice that sent a chill through the room.
Golden Crown recoiled, her wings fluttering in panic as she realized the gravity of her situation. With one last defiant glare, she turned and fled through the doors.
Swift Dig, breaking the tension, smiled and nodded to the couple. "You may now kiss the mare," he said, his voice full of joy.
Solar Night Dust leaned in, and the couple shared a tender kiss, sealing their union. The room erupted into applause, celebrating the moment despite the drama that had unfolded.
As the applause faded, the mood in the room lightened, and the air seemed to hum with excitement once more. The wedding guests were eager to move past the unexpected drama and celebrate the love between Rarity and Solar Night Dust.
The music began to play softly, filling the space with a gentle melody. The first dance was about to begin, and all eyes turned to the newlyweds. Solar Night Dust extended a hoof to Rarity, his golden eyes filled with adoration. She smiled back, her crimson eyes gleaming with warmth as she accepted.
"You are everything to me," Solar whispered, his voice full of emotion as they took their first steps together, their hooves moving in perfect harmony.
Rarity’s gown shimmered in the soft light as they danced, every movement graceful and fluid. The guests watched, mesmerized by the beauty of the couple, their love palpable in the air. The music swirled around them, and for that moment, it felt like time stood still, just for them.
As the music flowed through the room, new couples eagerly took the floor, each one adding their own charm to the celebration.
Spike and Sweetie Belle were among the first to join the dancing crowd. The little dragon, still in awe of Rarity’s beauty, watched her from across the room, his heart swelling with pride. But tonight, it was Sweetie Belle who had his attention. Her gentle smile and sparkling eyes made his cheeks flush a little brighter. As they danced, Sweetie Belle's graceful steps guided him around the floor, and for a moment, Spike felt like he was flying.
"You’re amazing, Sweetie," Spike murmured, his voice almost a whisper, as he held her delicately. Sweetie giggled, her smile radiant.
"And you're not so bad yourself, Spike," she replied with a wink, making the little dragon laugh.
Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry soon followed, their movements gentle but full of connection. Flash, with his usual composed air, held Twilight close as they glided across the floor. His wings fluttered slightly, a sign of his nervous excitement, but Twilight, her heart full of happiness, reassured him with a soft smile.
"I’m so happy you’re here with me," Twilight whispered as they danced. Flash gave her a quick but tender look, his cobalt eyes sparkling.
"I wouldn’t be anywhere else, Twilight," he said, spinning her gently. "This night is perfect, just like you."
Discord and Celestia, the mischievous and regal duo, added an unexpected twist to the evening’s dancing. With a snap of his claws, Discord created a flurry of colorful confetti that rained down around them, turning the dance floor into a spectacle. Celestia, always the graceful one, smiled in delight, letting the playful chaos wash over her.
"You’ve outdone yourself this time, Discord," Celestia said, a twinkle in her eye as she moved effortlessly around the floor. "I never know what to expect with you."
"I’m full of surprises, Celestia," Discord replied, his mischievous grin growing wider. He twirled her around with a flourish, the colorful chaos of his magic trailing behind them like a rainbow. The guests laughed, some startled, but all were thoroughly entertained by the playful display.
Luna and Nightwing, the bat pony guard, shared a quieter, more intimate moment. The two of them had always had a bond built on trust, and as they danced in the shadows of the room, their movements were a reflection of that deep connection. Nightwing’s golden eyes never left Luna, even as she moved gracefully in his embrace.
"Your presence is as calming as the night sky," Luna whispered, her voice full of admiration as she leaned against him.
Nightwing, usually stoic, allowed a rare smile to form on his face. "And yours, my Princess, is as eternal as the moon."
Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Fluttershy were next to step onto the dance floor. While the three of them may not have fit the usual definition of a couple, the bond between them was undeniable. They moved together, laughing and spinning, with Applejack’s sturdy steps grounding them, while Rainbow Dash added a touch of flair with her lightning-fast twirls. Fluttershy’s soft laughter and gentle movements brought a peaceful balance to their trio.
"Now this is what I call fun!" Rainbow Dash declared, her wings fluttering as she spun Applejack around. "A wedding dance should always be this awesome."
Applejack chuckled, tipping her hat. "Reckon we’re doin’ just fine. Ain’t nothing like a little family fun."
"Yeah, we’re all together," Fluttershy said quietly, her face glowing with contentment.
Rarity’s parents, Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles, took the floor next, moving with surprising grace for a couple who had seen so many years together. Hondo’s deep voice, usually loud and booming, softened as he spoke to his wife, his love for her shining through.
"You’ve always been the one, Cookie," he said softly, holding her close as they swayed to the music. Cookie Crumbles smiled up at him, her eyes misty with emotion.
"You’ve always made me proud, Hondo," she replied, her voice tender as she leaned into his embrace. They danced together, their years of love and companionship reflected in every step they took.
As the night unfolded, the absence of Golden Crown was barely noticed by the rest of the party. Her departure was a swift and unexpected moment, but the atmosphere in the ballroom remained bright and filled with laughter, love, and happiness.
With Golden Crown gone, the other guests continued to embrace the magic of the evening.
Pinkie Pie, ever the bundle of energy, spun around the room with Berry Glow by her side, making the most of every beat. "This is the best wedding ever!" Pinkie exclaimed, her enthusiasm infectious as she danced.
Berry Glow laughed, twirling Pinkie in return. "You certainly make it a lively one, Pinkie!" The two shared a whirlwind of dance moves, spinning and laughing with abandon. Even the other guests couldn’t help but smile at their joy.
Next, Mud Flower found herself dancing gracefully with Pott Bits and Amethyst Pond. Their lighthearted movements brought a peaceful vibe to the dance floor, the elegance of Mud Flower blending seamlessly with the quiet strength of her companions.
"You two are a calming presence amidst all this excitement," Mud Flower said with a smile, her soft voice as soothing as the earth she was named after.
Pott Bits chuckled, his laughter bubbling over. "Well, someone has to keep the peace with all the energy swirling around us!" He added, his eyes glinting with mirth.
With Golden Crown gone, the other guests continued to embrace the magic of the evening. Rarity’s parents Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles, shared a loving dance, their steady steps a reflection of their many years of marriage. They beamed at each other, their eyes filled with pride for their daughter on her special day.

"True," Amethyst Pond agreed, his calm smile never fading. "But it’s all worth it for a night like this."
Amethyst Pond was about to continue when a soft voice interrupted. "Amethyst Pond, may I dance with you?" asked Shadow Brisk, his golden eyes gleaming from across the room. The bat pony guard, standing tall in his dark-gray coat, approached with quiet confidence, yet there was a hint of nervousness in his gaze.
Amethyst Pond blinked in surprise, but his smile remained warm and welcoming. "Of course, Shadow Brisk," he said smoothly, offering his hoof.
As they danced, the soft beat of the music enveloped them. Mud Flower stood quietly off to the side, her cheeks a soft shade of pink, watching her friends dance. She fidgeted with the hem of her dress, feeling a bit shy in the bustling crowd. Behind her, Pinkie Pie was practically bouncing with excitement, but noticing Mud Flower's hesitation, she leaned in with a wide grin.
"You’re just waiting for the right moment, huh?" Pinkie whispered, her eyes sparkling.
Mud Flower nodded, still feeling a bit self-conscious. "I... I suppose I am."
With a friendly nudge, Pinkie Pie pulled Mud Flower gently forward. "Well, that moment’s now! Dance with us!"
Mud Flower hesitated, but the infectious energy of Pinkie Pie made her smile. She stepped forward and soon found herself swept up in the joyous whirl of dancers.
Meanwhile, Amethyst Pond and Shadow Brisk moved gracefully across the floor, their quiet elegance matching the soft rhythm of the music. Shadow Brisk’s sharp eyes and strong wings made him a striking figure, and the two danced with a natural synchronicity that seemed almost as if they had done so before.
"I never expected this," Shadow Brisk said, his voice low and smooth as they twirled. "But it’s... nice."
Amethyst Pond chuckled, the sound like calm waters. "Sometimes, the unexpected dances are the best ones."
Swift Dig stood in silence, his gaze fixed on the stained-glass windows of the grand hall. The colorful panes bathed the room in a soft, ethereal glow. He felt a surge of pride as he thought, I'm proud of you, my son.
To his surprise, Rarity turned toward him with a small smile.
Swift Dig blinked in confusion. He hadn’t intended for his thoughts to be heard.
A sudden shift in energy caught Rarity’s attention. She looked across the room, where Mud Flower and Lily Pad were standing. Why is Mud Flower looking at me? wondered Lily Pad quietly.
Lily Pad so pretty in that dress, thought Mud Flower, her gaze lingering on Lily Pad with admiration.
Rarity sighed inwardly, wishing she didn’t have to hear such private thoughts.
From beside her, Solar Night Dust spoke softly. You can hear it too, he said with a knowing smile.
Rarity turned to him in surprise. How did you know? she asked, puzzled.
Solar Night Dust gave a small shrug. That’s how my mother knew things. that something we can do. His expression softened as he looked at Rarity, as if remembering something distant and dear.
Rarity glanced back at Swift Dig, curious. Can you hear his thoughts? she asked Solar Night Dust quietly.
Solar Night Dust shook his head. No, I can’t. But he deserves his privacy, he said. Some thoughts are meant to stay his own.
Rarity's heart fluttered at Solar Night Dust's words, and she leaned in closer, resting her head on his shoulder. The warmth of the evening and the gentle rhythm of the celebration made everything feel perfect.
As the last of the guests wandered to their rooms, Rarity felt a quiet peace settle over her. It had been a night filled with love, laughter, and a sense of belonging. Yet, there was something more, something deeper—an awareness of the responsibilities her new abilities brought, and the potential for even greater things.
"Tomorrow will come soon," she murmured, almost to herself, her eyes meeting Solar's.
He smiled softly. "We'll face it together, as we always do."
Solar Night Dust was in the bathroom.
Rarity saw a letter on the table—it was from Golden Crown.
Enjoy being pregnant with my child Rarity . Yes, the baby is half yours. But let me make it clear: a small percentage of the child’s heritage will come from Solar Night Dust. The rest will come from me, as it was meant to be.
I hope this news brings you clarity, for I have decided you will take care of the baby. As for you, enjoy the time with your lovely companion, Solar Night Dust.
Golden Crown
Rarity sat quietly, the letter from Golden Crown still in her magic. It had come as a sudden revelation, yet its message was clear. The filly wasn’t here yet, but the responsibility for her care had already been decided. The child was to be half hers, with a portion of heritage from Solar Night Dust, though the decision of her upbringing rested squarely on Rarity’s shoulders.
She ran a hoof over the paper, the words lingering in her mind. It wasn’t the filly’s presence that filled the space but the weight of what was to come. This child, part of Solar Night Dust’s world and part of hers, would bring a new dynamic to their lives. It was a lot to process, and Rarity’s heart felt heavy with both anticipation and uncertainty.
Looking over to Solar Night Dust, who stood quietly beside her, Rarity let out a soft breath. "It seems we've been given a heads-up, my dear," she said, her voice soft but steady. "The filly may not be here yet, but she will be in time, and we’ll have to be ready for what comes."
Solar Night Dust gave her a small, reassuring smile. "We’ll face it together, Rarity. Whatever happens, we’ll take it one step at a time."
And with that, Rarity allowed herself a small moment of peace, knowing that even though the future was uncertain, they would be there for each other when the time came to welcome the little one into the world.
"Darling, must you dig for days?" Rarity asked, her voice soft but tinged with concern as she rested a hoof on her round belly. "Must you stop?" she added, clearly anxious about her partner's persistence.
"I hear something," Solar Night Dust said, pausing to listen, his ears twitching.
"Oh, my," Rarity gasped, "what is it?"
"Please, get Fluttershy and Spike. I'll need them to translate," Solar Night Dust requested, his tone serious as he continued to search. "There’s something alive here."
Rarity nodded, moving quickly to get her friends. The urgency in Solar's voice made her heart race. Something big was happening, and she knew they would need all the help they could get.
