SILC Episode 5: Crusch's Wall
Sometimes Accidental Murder Just Happens
Spike had traveled through only three realms so far, only for the fourth to already be one of the craziest ones yet. Mere five seconds into the realm and he somehow violently killed a man, by simply pulling out his sword. He didn't know he was standing there. How did his senses not alert him? And how did that man's head splatter so easily, like something out a looney tunes. That wouldn't explain why the whole world went white. He was separated from Agatha and appeared in jail, sitting across from the man he accidentally murdered, only now was perfectly fine. More insane yet was that man's reaction to it all. "Eh... Not the lamest way to die."
"What do you mean?!" Spike demanded answers for the tenth time in a row. "I splattered your brain mass all over my sword."
"And I'm not angry about it." The man shrugged. "Really, I'm more confused that you remember too." He raised his hand to his chin. "Normally, only I remember when this world resets."
"Reset, what do you mean?" Spike blinked, the man's words barely making sense. "Are you saying, you've died here before?"
"Yup. Many times, in so many more insane ways... One time I got eaten by an army of bunnies." The man couldn't but laugh at that even if the gruesome memories stayed fresh in his head. "They're cute... before those fangs came out." He held up his hand and began to count down the worst ones. "Another time I was possessed by a demon and a knight had to splatter my brains out over the road. A giant wolf named Puck froze me solid, I came back only for him to chop off my head next. Oh, and my former maid beat me to death with a giant mace and chain."
The dragon's jaw dropped, his mind spinning from the absurdity. There was no way all those events happened to this poor soul. Yet the man's expression told him otherwise. It was one of acceptance, almost a strange comfort, knowing the horrors he'd been through and still waking up the next day. "How is that possible? You shouldn't have survived any of those."
"It's never instant..." This was the first time that she shivered. "Death isn't kind, but sometimes I wish it was. Each time I can feel each drop of blood leaving my body, every bone cracking and breaking. Ever so slowly pain and suffering as my life is snuffed out." He clapped his hands together to emphasize the point. "And then poof! The whole world reset to a random point."
"Random point, you mean there is no control..." Spike stopped as the man pointed at his throat.
"Stabbed myself enough times to realize control is pointless. The only advantage I have is the knowledge from each reset." He pressed his fingers on his throat as if remembering each slash. "Though so, so many deaths, I've learned much of this world. Not enough to become a god of sorts, but just enough to earn a common living."
The dragon's eyes widened at this reveal. He jumped up from his spot and pleaded. "If what you are saying is truly... then you must know whom of this realm owns portal scissors."
"Portal scissors?" The man raised an eyebrow at that question and slowly stood up too. "No, I don't think so... or else I would have escaped years ago." He crossed his arms and leaned against the bars. "But, if I had a guess... It would have to be the other visitor I encountered in the village before crashing into your blade."
"A visitor?!" That sounded promising, but Spike didn't like the look in the man's eye. "What do you mean? Who is the visitor and what can you tell me about them?"
"Of course, but we'll need a way out of here first." He gestured to the bar and then to Spike's mouth. "How strong are your flames?"
The dragon was taken aback by the question. "Well, I haven't tested it since escaping that Toy Land with Agatha. But I doubt they would put us in a jail a dragon could so easily escape from."
"Don't count on that, you would be surprised how stupid most of the people in this realm are." The man laughed and offered his hand. "By the way, my name is Subaru Natsuki."
"I'm Spike... Dragon of Equestria." Spike shook the man's hand, and a strange feeling washed over him. He felt safe, oddly comforted by this person. A stranger he just met, and yet they were able to connect, perhaps it was the trauma from their own experience. "It wouldn't hurt to try." The dragon turned toward the bars and exhaled a small burst of green flames. Just enough to test Subaru's theory, not enough to spook the guards outside.
Just like the man guessed, the flames ate through the steel like hot butter. The metal sizzled and popped as it was melted away. The dragon couldn't believe escaping would be this easy. He turned back to Subaru, expecting the same level of excitement. Instead, the man's eyes were distant, his face filled with dread.
Spike was confused until the man rushed past him without a single thought and out of the jail. He didn't bother checking for guards or looking in any direction. His feet carried him as fast as he could, straight down the street. The dragon was baffled by the sudden change in behavior and rushed out alongside him. "Where are you going in such a rush?!" the dragon pleaded for more answers.
"No time to talk!" Subaru yelled back, his voice filled with panic. "I have to stop it this time." He was panting, struggling to breathe as he ran, his eyes darting left and right. The fear and worry were evident, the urgency palpable. Spike could only follow him and hope that they weren't too late for whatever 'it' was.
The streets were crowded, but the locals seemed to instinctively step aside as Subaru passed. Some even gasped and whispered among themselves. They had seen this before. "Subaru-sama." The crowd murmured the name, and the dragon knew then that he was running with a hero. Or maybe he was a wanted criminal? The dragon didn't have time to answer as they came upon a church in the distance.
As the bell chimed out loud, Subaru sprinted harder, his legs moving as fast as they could carry him. He wasn't sure if it was the adrenaline or the anxiety, but it felt like his chest was about to explode. The man was glad to meet Spike, someone else separated from the resets, but he didn't have time to enjoy it when that moment was about to happen again. "Come on, come on. Hurry up."
The doors to the church opened wide, and the man's heart sank. The scene playing out before his eyes, the one he hoped to prevent, was unfolding right before him. He raised his hand and declared. "I object to this union, Emilia--" He was stopped midsentence as a spear flew through the air, straight into his chest, crashing him into the arms of the dragon.
The icy stare soldier stepped out of the shadows and stared at them both. Her green hair and military regalia stood between Subaru and the silver bride he was reaching out for within the church halls. He recognized her from his travels, the name tumbling out of his blood-breath. "Crusch Karsten... Please, stop this wedding. You know Emilia isn't ready to marry that monster."
"I can not, Subaru." She replied back and pulled the spear from his chest. "I have pledged my loyalty to the kingdom of Lugunica. As soon to be king, I will not let a lowly servant ruin this union."
"Damn... Maybe I could rush in through the backdoor next time... What if I get another chance at this moment." Subaru groaned and held his chest as the wound began to take its full effect. He could feel the world already slipping away. And all he could do was stare helplessly at the silver bride's confused face. His last words would be the ones he didn't want her to hear now, but the world was about to reset anyway. Why not scream them out loud. "Emilia... I love--" The words stopped before he could finish.
Spike's claws tightened over Subaru, the words the man spoke echoing in his head. It reminded him of all the pain he went through in his home dimension. From the loss of Rarity, the connection with Gabby. The heartache with the portal scissors separation and the new adventures with Agatha. He realized this man was suffering a far worse fate than he ever could accept. To love someone from afar was painful enough, but to constantly lose her over and over again in a cruel endless loop. Just because the world would reset. No, the dragon was not going to let this happen again.
In one swift motion, he pulled out his portal scissors and held them up high. None of the soldiers recognized the objects, but Crusch still kept up her guard. However, there was a voice within the crowded church that spoke up. "No, stop him from opening a way out."
No, that wasn't Spike's plan anyway. He had no idea where Agatha was, or who the other owner was. All he could do was cross the magic of these portal scissors with the resetting power of Subaru Natsuki. And with that thought, the dragon gritted his teeth and stabbed the scissors into the man's skull, just as the white was about to consume the world again.

This time the two woke up in a court room, not sure what happened. Spike and Subaru were dressed in fine clothing, sitting on chairs on the plaintiff's side. A few guards surrounded them, and a judge slammed a gavel down on a desk. "Silence, the court will come to order!" He shouted out to the crowd and turned his gaze down at the two. "This trial will determine whether you two are guilty of the charges laid against you, or whether you will be acquitted. Before the hearing begins, present your lawyer."
"Lawyer?" Spike was confused, the words coming out of the man's mouth barely made sense. Looking around revealed they were still in the same town as before. Crusch was even standing next to the judge, eyeing him up and down. "Wait, what is going on here."
"This is a trial," the judge explained, "You are being accused of resurrecting a man with forbidden magic!" He pointed directly at Subaru. It was at this moment that Subaru touched his head and chest upon remembering the events. The dragon's eyes followed suit, slowly widening at the reveal. A scar upon his head and chest, perfectly healed.
"I'm... alive..." The man's eyes were tearing up at this discovery. "My body didn't reset... Did the world reset or not?!" He stood up and raced his eyes over the room. "Emilia--" He was stopped Crusch raised her spear to his throat, stained with his blood.
"Emilia is recovering from the trauma you caused at the chapel." Her voice was calm, but her eyes were furious. "The wedding has been postponed indefinitely."
"Yea..." He smiled boldly and whispered to Spike. "Somehow you stopped the world from resetting."
"But in exchange time moved forward," A familiar voice echoed behind them. Spike shifted around and was glad to see somehow Agatha had found them. Her dress was replaced by a fine blouse and skirt, and she had a bag on her side and still wearing that one glove, now longer on her arm. She walked up and offered her hand. "Sorry, for taking so long. The court was in a frenzy. And I needed an expert to examine the crime scene."
Spike raised an eyebrow at her word choice and the respect the guards gave her upon walking around the room. It slowly became obvious to him from her outfit. "Wait, the time has passed. How much time--" He was stopped as a totally different pair of portal scissors stabbed into the table.
"The flash you caused skipped time ahead by three months." The owner they were looking for revealed herself without any hesitation after Spike's stunt. "It took a lot of convincing to have this trial occur in my favor." Her short blue hair was a stylish stark difference from the rest of the people in this world, revealing her intrusion was much like him. With black gloves and a bold whip by her side, she had no problem taking control of the room. “I’m Franziska von Karma, fellow traveler through the dimensions!” she declared, her tone echoing with unyielding confidence.
The judge gestured for her to continue with a nod, “Very well, you may begin.”
With this pronouncement, the stage was set for a legal showdown unlike any witnessed before. The courtroom morphed into a battleground, filled with witnesses, opposing counsel, and a cacophony of arguments that reverberated off the walls. Papers rustled, voices rose in indignation, and the air crackled with tension. Yet amidst the din of chaos and confusion, one figure stood resolute: Franziska von Karma. She moved across the court room like a master of the craft, Agatha revealing to them in soft whispers that her home world was a legal master piece.
Franziska, known for her impeccable record as a prosecutor and her no-nonsense attitude, embodied an unshakeable presence in the courtroom. Her reputation preceded her, fierce, methodical, and utterly unwavering in her pursuit of justice. As she stepped forward, her eyes sharpened, akin to a hawk zeroing in on its prey. She methodically prepared her arguments, each point calculated and deliberate.
As witnesses took the stand, the courtroom became the stage for a theatrical debate. Witnesses trembled under her relentless questioning, each probing inquiry designed to extract just a sliver of doubt about the prosecution's argument. Tension mounted as each moment painted a new layer onto the complex canvas of the case. She revealed that Subaru simply wished to show his valor for the kingdom against a villainous evil. He rushed in with a desire to save his silver dame.
The whole court room was locked around her whip, but Franziska remained unfazed. Her scientifically precise arguments and unwavering composure formed a protective shield around her client, challenging not just the evidence presented, but the very motivations behind the allegations.

It lingered on another thought that had been bugging him since meeting his lawyer.

An unfamiliar tone amidst the buzz of wedding joys and familial quarrels. This voice had not belonged to their lawyer. It belonged to someone who also understood the power and the scissors. Finding this mysterious individual became a tantalizing prospect, expanding their understanding much more than simply being allied with one.
Before he could weigh his next move, Spike's attention was ensnared by a more immediate threat. Crusch's eyes were like iron beams, unyielding and piercing, fixed with a hatred that burned brightly for his companion. Yet, intriguingly, her gaze frequently flickered toward him. They were long and uncertain gazes as if searching for something within the depths of his own soul.
Was it her voice he had heard? No. It was the wrong pitch, her tone was too harsh to match the mystery other woman. Yet, the fact that she kept returning her attention to him triggered an unsettling instinct in Spike. Perhaps it was her demeanor that sparked his anxiety. Gone was the wildness that had characterized her before. The reckless abandon with which she had hurled her spear at his friend had faded. He felt exposed but not in true danger upon her eyes, as if under a magnifying glass of scrutiny and barely hidden suspicions.
Underneath the surface veneer of courtroom civility, Spike sensed something deeper brewing. Crusch’s transformation was tangible. Her previous hostility had simmered into a quiet, yet palpable intensity. It made him wonder what had shifted within her.
The climax loomed, the final arguments approaching like the rolling thunder of a storm. Franziska stood taller, her convictions emerging ferociously with a loud proclamation that brought both Spike and Crusch back to the proceedings. “Justice isn’t just about conviction, it is about truth!”
Agatha clapped at the whole presentation and leaned between Spike and Subaru. She quietly whispered to them the details of her own day of resets. She somehow found her way to Franziska's doorstep upon the first reset. She told the woman everything she and Spike went through, in turn, she revealed this world had a random tendency to reset at random. Hearing about the portal scissors was enough to convince her to help. They arrived at the church just shortly after Spike stabbed Subaru and watched the item heal him just before a second flash came over them and landed them in the courtroom.
This confirmed Spike's suspicions of another voice. Somehow Spike's portal scissors reverse the power of the spell over Subaru. This flung the four of them forward through time instead of backward. At the same time, someone else was trying to stop them. That other could have not wanted this outcome at all. Spike listened to the whole thing, his mind reeling from the revelations. It all made sense, except for the fact that he was trying to break the curse upon Subaru not alter it. He held up his scissors and stared down at them. "Now we just need to find this third voice."
Franziska cracked her whip to bring them back to the attention of the court room. Whatever was happening now, could be explained later. Right now, she needed to get them out of the charges. This was the perfect chance to put all her training to the test. "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I implore you to see the truth." She gestured to Spike and Subaru. "These two forged a powerful friendship in that prison. The dragon couldn't let his friend die. Why punish him for that?!"
The words powerful friendship struck a chord with Crusch. Her cold facade flinched for a single second as she gazed upon the dragon. A faint blush grew over her face. She whispered a few soft words. "He truly is a soldier of valor." She snapped back into her position. "Your honor, the evidence still stands. We saw both the dragon and his companion, Subaru, use magic forbidden in these lands. Such power should not be permitted."
"That may be true," Franziska admitted. "But I have proof the dragon isn't using his powers in malice. If anything, the act he committed is noble, a show of selflessness." She snapped her whip and turned to the dragon. "Spike, prove you are an honest soul, show us you are not evil." She held up the handle of her whip to him.
The judge raised his gable, trying to stop her from giving the dragon a weapon. Yet, much to their shock, Spike refused the offer. Instead, he stood up and held out his claw to the court. "No, I am not evil. For many years I fought bravely for the idea of friendship!" His words struck Crusch from her cold stance again.
She felt a warmth from the dragon's words, his sincerity reaching out to her. She was confused, a dragon would never feel such good emotions, or have such a noble cause. She couldn't understand what was going on. Her mind was spinning, the dragon was not the same as the other beasts she slayed so easily. Perhaps he could be a noble ally if given a chance. Maybe he could be something more.
"A soldier of friendship?" the judge whispered, feeling the dragon's emotions resonate within himself. "That is a noble cause to fight for, worthy of the kingdom's respect." He slammed his gavel down and pronounced the verdict. "However, judgement must be cast." He pointed to the two. "You have caused the kingdom trouble. You shall not leave, instead, both of you will be enlisted into the Lugunican army. To serve the kingdom, until your sentence is over."
"What?!" Subaru backed away in horror. "Not again. I can't serve under them again..." He looked at Crusch, her eyes glaring back. The images of her killing him so many times flashed through his brain. "I will not serve under you again!"
"Subaru, calm down," Spike pleaded and tried to reach out for him.
The man wasn't having any of it. He grabbed Franziska's portal scissors this time. Without saying another word to either of them, he rammed at his throat, hoping for a different outcome. Maybe the world would reset, maybe it would skip forward. Anything was better than this outcome. However this time, his desires were stopped. Much to the shock of the court, Spike's hand went between. Blood splattered from the dragon's palm as he refused to let Subaru continue his suicidal rants.
"I will not ask you again, Natsuki Subaru." Spike's voice was serious and stern, wincing through the pain. It was a tone he'd never used with his friends before, but he couldn't let such absurdity continue. "No... No, more running. No more dying."
"Spike, you bastard..." Subaru growled, struggling in his grasp.
"No, I will not let you." Spike pulled back with all his might, throwing the portal scissors to the foot of their lawyer. "This ends now."
Crusch was utterly taken aback by these words and bold stance. The court was silent for a moment, trying to figure out what they were witnessing. The crown princess was just as lost, if not more so than anyone else. She wanted to know now for sure, just who was this dragon to have this much valor and selflessness towards someone he barely knew. It struck so hard through her heart. Her iron wall crack, no, stuttered from the display.
"I can't let you die... I can't let you kill yourself," Spike explained, holding his friend's hand tighter. "It's not worth it. If this is our fate... then I'll stand beside you."
"Spike?" Crusch spoke the dragon's name out loud for the first time. Her tone was so confused and full of concern. And something else he couldn't quite place just yet. She stopped herself from reaching out to him, turning to the judge instead. "Your honor, I do believe we have found our answer."
"That's settled." He slammed his gable. "Court dismissed--" The whole courtroom was silent upon a loud banging sound.
Agatha's eyes widened as if knowing that source all too well, but from where. Her gloved hand shivered and ached in familiar pain. Yet her attention couldn't be kept upon that for long as she raced upon Subaru. In fact, all of them turned their attention toward him... and the massive bullet hole through his head.
"What?" Spike jumped back in horror. "When, who?!"
"My little boy can't escape his fate." The other woman's voice returned as the world went white once more.

As his eyes fluttered open, he was transported away from the chaos of the courtroom, only to awaken in a lavishly decorated bedroom, a striking contrast to the grim reality he previously encountered. The air was rich with the scents of polished wood and the faint aroma of lavender, while opulent drapes hung from the ceiling like clouds of silk, crafting an ethereal atmosphere around him.
Underneath him was a massive canopy bed, the lavishness of which would have felt comical in other circumstances. If only he could muster the humor in all this confusion. Pillows were strewn across the space like afterthoughts in a chaotic dream, and the floor was a tapestry of intricate designs, soft and inviting beneath his scales. Despite all this softness, it was undeniably a warrior's refuge, adorned with trophies of past conquests. Scholarly tomes shared space with glinting blades, the walls lined with an intimidating array of weapons and banners that spoke of triumph and struggle.
Each emblem told a story, yet Spike found no comfort in their silent testimony. Instead, his mind was buzzing with confusion. Did he get flung forward again, or backward? Who attacked Subaru? Where was this place he landed now? Where was Agatha, the lawyer with the whip, and Subaru? Where did he go? Last time two times the flash happened, he was right behind him, but now nothing. Spike had so many questions and no one in the room to communicate with. His annoyance simmered at the back of his mind. A low growl escaped his throat, an involuntary response to the feeling of isolation that gnawed at him, further compounded by the nagging questions circling his mind.
Just as he began to spiral into the depths of his predicament, a creaking sound against the chamber's heavy door drew his attention. Spike's heart raced, instincts taking over as he braced himself for danger. The door swung open slowly, revealing a figure that made his heart drop in awe and fear alike.
Standing before him, with her fierce gaze and an aura of command that could sway even the most hardened of warriors, was Crusch Karsten. The very same woman who had threatened him moments ago, maybe days ago with the promise of them joining her army. However, this time she didn't approach him with rage or malice. Instead, she moved with rather shy steps, dropping her sword and shield on the floor and removing her armor... and her clothes
Spike raised his claws, trying to process everything that was happening so fast. Was he being chained down again by another dominating woman?! Had she decided to torture him with sex instead of just straight-killing him?! Why did this keep happening? All his thoughts stopped cold upon finally noticing something else that left him utterly dumbfounded. Upon his left hand was... a wedding ring.
Her words coming next confirmed the utter horror that had somehow happened in between the two moments. "Please, husband... I'm so tired!" The dragon's jaw dropped to the floor as the woman dropped everything but her bikini and panties and crawled into the bed. She took his arms and wrapped them around her. This time, she didn't waste time, taking him hostage." The woman swirled around on the bed, slowly facing him with an intense blush. "Fighting through all those bloody corpses. Oh, how I longed to feel you once more?" Her hands raised to his chin, pulling him down. Her lips parted, and her tongue met him in an instant.
Spike tried to resist the urge to kiss her back, but his body betrayed him, reacting to feelings and memories he didn't even have. In a matter of seconds, the dragon rolled her on top of him. Despite his mind trying to argue against it, his hands guided her over his body. The warrior laughed and giggled at his touch, pushing her mouth firmly upon his face.

This was wrong. This wasn't him. He didn't know her like this. He wanted to fight back. He had to tell her who he really was, what he really remembered. "This can't be real. You were going to--" He argued back, but his mouth choked on her tongue and the rest of his words became a series of gurgles.
The woman's eyes widened. "You haven't forgotten your vows, have you? My dear sweet husband. It's me, your wife, Crusch." She leaned up and grabbed his tongue out of his mouth. "You dare stop our intense love!" With her other hand, she reached around and dug into his pocket. "Dear, we got past this long ago!" She shivered upon his breath traveling up her arm. "You showed me not everything in this world is monstrous, and now it's time to reward you." She smiled and flopped his cock out, bouncing it against her hips. "Oh, it's been too long." She moaned and began stroking him.
Spike tried to say no. Tried to fight, it, but his claws raced over her hips. "Crusch," he begged her, his heart racing, and his member throbbing. "Please... contain yourself."

His eyes widened at her request, so a bold demand. No, it was a final plea from a woman who loved him more dearly than he realized. The dragon couldn't remember a single thing that led up to all of this. Nor could he be so cruel as to deny her in her weakest moment. The very least he could do was honor her request, her one wish.
"Crusch... I will--" Without warning, both were frozen in place as the witch finally arrived. In fact, the whole room stopped moving. A pair of scissors cut through the frabic of reality, A faint glow wrapped around Crusch and flung her off Spike's cock.
"Cursed intruder... I will not let you change my story." The villainous woman who attack Subaru returned. Her will rang out as the whole room as reality resumed. The dragon's semen splattered over the bed, but never reached his bride at all. Instead, Crusch was flung against the wall so hard that she was knocked out cold.
"What... no..." Spike's breath was so hoarse, unable to stop his release as the witch with pale white hair in a purple dress presented herself. Closing the portal behind her, she threw Agatha and Franziska to the foot of the bed, in chains with both their own portal scissors tied too.
"This has gone on long enough." She glared, her eyes locked on him. "It's time we end this foolishness." Flinging Spike off the bed and onto the floor, chaining him up as well.
"What do you want?!" Spike roared, unable to stop the woman from her spell. "Who are you?!"
"I am Satella and the curse must remain intact." She growled and pointed her finger at him. "I will not allow you to ruin my story." The witch declared the 'my' part so loudly to emphasize her point. "I don't care if you are a hero from another world. Your kind is nothing more than monsters here, a creature only worthy of being slain a powerful warrior." She held her hand to Crusch's unconscious face.
"No, don't touch her!" Spike screamed, pulling on his chains, trying to free himself.
"She was supposed to be King of this world, not throwing herself to your disgusting loins." The woman snapped and flicked her hand. Everything around them was instantly covered in white. The dragon was left breathless as Crusch vanished, but they remained. "Do you realize how many resets it will take to fix all this damage!!"
"Why are you doing this? How can you justify such evil!" Spike's anger flared, his heart beating like a war drum. He had seen enough tyrants in his time she was clearly a devil of this world, bending everything under her will.
"Do you have any idea who gave me this realm to command?!" She snapped back louder and kicked both Spike and Franziska hard in the face. "She gave you these portal scissors and you dare to defy her!"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Spike struggled with his binds. His eyes slowly widened. "You know who forged these things, don't you?"
"I have no reason to answer you," She hissed, but her eyes narrowed and her teeth gritted. Her patience was wearing thin. Lifting all three of them in a spell as her own portal scissors appeared, glowing with an eerie light. "I've had enough of your meddling." With no effort at all, she opened up another portal behind them. "Now begone, all three of you!!" With a flick of her finger, Spike, Agatha, Franziska, and all their stuff were flung through the portal and it shut closed.

Yeah, this one was a long one. Plus being sick didn't help the ending either, sorry it went by so fast. I knew from the beginning the hardest part would be the resetting. Hopefully I pulled it off as good as the anime did. Either way, now we know others are teleporting through dimensions too and some are even being gifted these portal scissors. The mystery keeps rising, next Monday prepare for another much shorter episode featuring a certain fluffy ninja
