Andrew Arrives in Equestria
Prologue
Load Full StoryWell, I must say, in my seventy-eight years on this beautiful land, I had never encountered anything close to what had appeared directly before me. After having such an enlightening discussion with my colleague James, whom deserves all the respect in the world for continuing my work, I headed back to my abode, on what should have been an ordinarily early spring evening.
Instead, I found myself inexplicably drawn towards this electrifying force in space that, for all purposes, seemed to defy God and nature itself. It was like a calm beckoning, yet electrifying force that seemed to have drawn me into, what appeared to be, a portal in-between planes of existence, something that our scientists at the time would revel to get the chance to explore.
I am embarrassed to say that I dropped my cane onto the ground, staring into this wildly, bizarre, mystifying phenomena that appeared to defy all the laws of physics that we currently come to understand. After my moment of shock had ended, I raveled my head for any knowledge that could explain its existence, and what it could do for the people of these United States. Well, I guess I am a man for the common people first, as always, even after my retirement from my office.
What mysteries lie ahead of this uncharted territory? I began to question and doubt myself, wondering if I should request from the president a scouting party ahead to do the scientific and expeditionary force for me. However, with the remaining time I had left from my poor lack of health, I began to wonder if I should indeed see to myself whatever portal to whichever place that the Lord God hath brought upon me. As my duty was first to my country, I had decided to go ahead and approach myself with exploring the place further. Could it perhaps benefit the people of these United States? What mysteries and/or threats lied ahead in that shimmering, glowing purple light of a portal, with these countless symbols surrounding it, reminiscence of the rumors that had been spread centuries before of witches dabbling in satanic blasphemy.
As I approached closer, the space seemed to electrify me, and some sort of part of me felt a brief shred of terror and apprehension, the fear of the unknown clutching my body, as I prepared myself to take one step into what appeared to be some form of crystalline structure on the other side, before I did, I glanced about what was outside the edges of this… portal, as best as I could. There were crystalline structures and, whatever was on the other side of this portal appeared to have some level of sentience, and so I pondered for a brief bit if these… natives of whatever this land had connected to were capable of sentience, as I also could briefly notice bookshelves as well as other artifacts such as... Were those crystal walls!? And a mirror? What am I looking at, exactly!? I briefly pondered.
As I debated with my logical self of running as far away as I possibly could, and the curious side of myself wishing to throw myself into the portal, another thought hit me. With how long I have left, and still many people left to see and work left to do, even in my retirement, I thought this could be my last legacy. To discover something that no American has ever discovered before, and if this, so called, portal were to disappear forever? That would be something I could live with, as I have done my due diligence to my country and the people of South Carolina, but it would be something else to explore and give what's left of my life some form of meaning before I depart.
As I peered further beyond, I began to see shapes go in and out of frame, it appeared to be four legged equines? As I gazed further beyond, I could even make out them using speech with what appeared to be- the English language? At this point, my curiosity was peaked and I was determined forever to discover what sort of anomaly had come across this place.
Thus, with an eager and brave sigh, I had walked through the portal, determined to discover what was going on on the other side of the rupture of our world. As soon as I made it halfway across I could feel my body jolting in various directions, and felt zaps of electricity hit both my body and my brain, and as I felt myself slowly cross over, I could feel and see several things happened at once, as my body was convulsing and my eyes were attempting to readjust to whatever had assaulted them.
It appeared as though there were several... equine? Ponies staring directly at me, perhaps either in awe, fear, or panic.
“Oh no, Starlight! You told me you set us up in a place where nopony could find us! This was just supposed to be an experiment between monitoring other worlds,” I could hear a voice cry out, before my eyes realized it was just one of the two purple ponies about me, the far left dark purple pony to be exact.
“It was supposed to just be an experiment! I can’t hold it any longer, the portal will be closed and this creature will be trapped here! We will just have to do the best we can to accommodate it,” The slightly less purple-bluish pony that was directly next to her responded.
“What… are you creatures?” I was able to make out a few words, exacerbated at these Equine looking creatures, before I began to feel woozy, however, I was insisting on stepping forward closer and closer, holding on to my cane more and more as the creatures began to get exacerbated.
"Oh no, sir, or... mam! Please! You will harm yourself if you don't calm down! It's going to be okay!" The darker purple equine shouted out of panic, before it began... summoning what I could only appear to be witchcraft with its horn, before I felt several blankets and pillows appear directly behind me.
"You must take a break sir, traveling between worlds does that to ponie- err, I mean... creatures, who haven't traveled dimensions for the first time. We must put you to bed and let the rest of your body recover," The purple equine continued.
I had an even greater feeling of tingliness and shock reach my body as I felt myself move across the ground. In panic, I'll admit I started yelling out of terror and confusion as to both the absurdness of the situation, as well as the new sensations it felt like my mind was being hit with, as if it was being split into two, and new information was being forcefully inserted into my head.
"Twilight, do we happen to have a calming spell? It looks like he needs it along with a bit of rest!" The slightly less blue equine responded. "We want to make sure we don't give him a panic attack, this is obviously all very new for him. He's not even supposed to be in here and the experimental portal is closing! There's no time to send him back!" She panickily replied.
"If we did try to send him back, it would likely kill him due to the stress and shock of his very essence being jolted back and forth between realities for Celestia's sake! I didn't anticipate anypony was in that dimension directly where I was studying. It's best just to let him rest!" The more purple equine stated, before hitting me with some sort of curious beam from her horn, before I felt everything relax and feel as if I had just run a mile and was ready to pass out.
The last thing I saw before I involuntarily dozed off, my panic subdued, were two concerned looking ponies over me, their manes being dark indigo with a pink streak, the other being purple and teal. My last thoughts before I passed out were if one of my colleagues spiked my drink with some sort of poison. That surely would've been one hell of a way to go. Whoever the hell it was, I would get vengeance on them one day.
Just to break the slight illusion that I had been poisoned or drugged somehow, the purple one lifted a blanket over to me and whispered, "Everything is going to be okay, you'll see. We'll get you help and out of this mess in no time," She said confidently as she began to run out of the room.
