Pinkie Pie finds herself standing in front of the latest spread of the AAZ, or Aetherial Anomalous Zone: a place that has appeared for unknown reasons outside of Ponyville one year ago. Clutching to a parting gift from a friend, she walks into the unknown determined and desperate for an answer to the one question that has plagued her mind: "Why?"

By the time she leaves the Zone—if she leaves at all—Pinkie Pie will have lost far more than her smile.
