Chapter 15: Chorus

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

After Chorus's friends had left, Chorus stormed out of the garden and back into the gala. He didn't know where he was headed, but he knew he wasn't staying in the garden. He wandered around the event hall for a couple minutes before deciding to sit down at a long table lined with barstools.

"Can I get a pink lemonade, please?" he called out to any server pony who might've been working.

"Okey dokey lokey! Coming right up," a voice called out.

Chorus gave a confused look. "Pinkie?"

Pinkie Pie showed up in front of Chorus, carrying a pink lemonade. She was wearing a comically fake pair of glasses, with a comically fake mustache to match. She had even somehow secured a server pony uniform. "Shhh! I'm undercover."

"Undercover for what reason?" Chorus asked.

"Secret, undercover reasons," Pinkie vaguely explained.

She placed the pink lemonade down in front of Chorus.

"So," she spoke. "Did you use my advice?"

Chorus sighed. "I tried, Pinkie. I really did. But now, everything's a mess, and I don't know what to do."

"What do you mean?" Pinkie inquired.

"Well, the pony I tried to 'help' wasn't willing to listen to reason, and I totally just ruined the best friendships I've ever had all in one fight. So, basically, we're all doomed, and it's all my fault," Chorus took a long drink of his pink lemonade.

Pinkie took a cloth and began to wipe down and clean some drink glasses.

"Well, your friends are already getting their talking-tos, so it's my turn to do it for you."

"What?" Chorus confusedly asked.

"You can't ruin best friendships in one night," Pinkie replied, ignoring his confusion. "You three are too good of friends to let one fight get in between you guys!"

"I don't think you understand, Pinkie," Chorus sighed. "This fight was bad. This fight had real consequences that I don't know if I can undo. You wouldn't get it. You and your friends always get the job done. You're like the perfect friend group."

Pinkie burst out laughing at Chorus's statement.

"Perfect?" she cackled. "That's a good one!" Pinkie laughed and laughed, her fake glasses and mustache bouncing up and down on her face as she giggled.

"What's so funny?" Chorus asked.

Pinkie laughed for a second longer before being able to answer. She wiped a tear of laugher from her face.

"We're not perfect," Pinkie laughed. "We fight all the time! How do you think we're all so good at friendship?"

"You're all good at friendship... because you fight a lot?" Chorus questioned.

"Yep!"

Chorus took another sip of his lemonade.

"I think I need some more Pinkie advice then. What should I do? How do I fix this? How do I get my friends back together?" Chorus requested.

"They'll come around," Pinkie predicted.

"How do you know that?" Chorus asked.

"They always come around! As long as you apologize, you and your friends have to remember how strong you are when you band together. To take apart a team like yours would be a crime, even if you did it yourselves!" Pinkie encouraged.

Chorus put his hoof up to his chin.

"So you think I should go try to find them?"

"I know you should go find them!" Pinkie insisted. "Besides," Pinkie looked around at the sight of the Grand Galloping Gala. "parties are no fun alone!"

Chorus smiled.

"You're right, Pinkie Pie."

He took a final sip of his pink lemonade and set it down onto the table. Pinkie Pie immediately picked it up and started to polish and clean it with her cloth.

"I'm gonna find my friends, and we're gonna save the gala!" Chorus cheered.

"Go get 'em, tiger!" Pinkie cheered back.

Chorus turned to Pinkie with a thoughtful expression.

"Thank you for all the advice tonight, Pinkie. I don't know where I'd be without you."

"Oh, pshhh. It's nothing! You and your friends saved me from a magical coma once. It's the least I can do."

Chorus smiled. He turned away from Pinkie, hopped off of his barstool, and headed back out into the crowd, ready to search for his friends.

"Let's go."
