Equestria Girls: Go, Rainbooms and CMCs, Go!
Chapter 3: Splintered Paths

Sunset Shimmer (also clad in the white jumpsuit and red hood) struggled against the restraints holding her to the cold, metallic table. The straps cut into her wrists and ankles, preventing any movement as the alien overlord loomed above her, his compound eyes glinting with malice. Beside him, one of the insectoid workers carried a helmet bristling with wiry appendages and glowing nodes that pulsed ominously.
“You’ll never get away with this!” Sunset yelled, defiance burning in her voice despite the fear coiling in her chest.
The overlord chittered a laugh, a sickening sound that reverberated through the sterile laboratory. “Oh, but I already am. This device will drain you of your energy and essence, little interloper. Soon, you’ll be as powerless as the creatures you sought to protect.”
With deliberate malice, the overlord lowered the helmet onto her head. Sunset squirmed, but the restraints held firm. The device latched into place, whirring to life with an eerie hum. She winced as a sharp jolt rippled through her, sapping a fragment of her strength.
Suddenly, one of the insectoids skittered into the room, clicking rapidly. “Overlord, her companions have escaped their cells and are attempting to locate her.”
The overlord turned, his mandibles clicking in irritation. “Fools! Sound the alarm. Let the corridors become their labyrinth of despair.”
The Rainbooms, Spike, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders sprinted through the labyrinthine halls of the alien ship. Metallic plating lined the walls, intersected with glowing circuits and flickering displays that seemed to mock their efforts to navigate the endless maze of identical doors.
“We’re never gonna find her at this rate!” Rainbow Dash groaned, skidding to a halt and planting her hands on her knees. “There’s too many doors, and they all look the same!”
Scootaloo staggered to a stop, her small legs trembling from the effort of keeping up. “I-I can’t keep running like this…”
“We can’t give up!” Sci-Twi said firmly, her glasses askew from the frantic dash. “Sunset is counting on us.”
Before anyone could reply, a blaring alarm shrieked to life, causing everyone to flinch and cover their ears. The noise was deafening, rattling the walls and sending tremors through the floor. Fluttershy whimpered, pressing her hands tightly against her ears. “W-What’s happening?”
The alarm’s cacophony was joined by a mechanical whirring as speakers unfolded from their jumpsuits, amplifying the noise and causing the group to cry out in pain. Just as quickly as it began, the alarm abruptly ceased, leaving their ears ringing in the sudden silence.
“That was awful,” Sweetie Belle muttered, rubbing her ears.
The relief was short-lived as several of the unmarked doors slid open. Massive vacuum tubes shot out from the openings, snaking toward the group.
“Look out!” Applejack shouted, but it was too late. The tubes latched onto them with a powerful suction, yanking them off their feet one by one.
Sci-Twi adjusted her glasses as the two of them soared through the transparent tube, neon lights streaking past them in a blur. Despite the bizarre situation, curiosity flickered in her eyes. “Spike, this system is fascinating! It’s like an automated transportation network.”
“Uh, yeah, fascinating,” Spike replied, his tail whipping in the wind. “But where’s it taking us?”
Rainbow Dash folded her arms in frustration as she zoomed along in her own tube. “This is so not cool! I should be running, not… flying through an alien hamster tube!”
Fluttershy curled into herself, trembling as her tube carried her away. “Oh no, oh no, oh no…” she whispered.
Pinkie Pie whooped with glee in her tube, throwing her arms up as if on a roller coaster. “This is amazing! Wheeee! I wonder if there’s snacks at the end?”
Applejack gritted her teeth, gripping her tube’s sides as she glared into the distance. “This just keeps gettin’ worse and worse!”
“Don’t worry, big sis,” Apple Bloom said, her voice steady. “We’ll get through this together.”
Rarity held onto Sweetie Belle tightly, her face pale. “This is absolutely dreadful! Why must everything be so undignified?”
Sweetie Belle patted her arm. “We’ll be okay, Rarity. Just… think of it as an adventure.”
Scootaloo’s heart raced as she hurtled through her tube, completely alone. She clenched her fists, her determination overriding her fear. “Wherever this dumps me, I’ll figure it out. I have to.”
As the tubes carried the separated groups deeper into the alien ship, Sunset gritted her teeth against the draining sensation from the helmet. “Come on, guys,” she muttered, her voice hoarse. “Hurry…”
