Chapter 11: Back Again

A loud crash sounded out as Chorus, Prose, and Ginger Blush tumbled out of the TV screen and onto the white floors of Time Jail. For the first time in what felt like forever, Chorus, Prose, Ginger Blush, Sombra, Twilight Sparkle, and Savoir Fare were in the same place once again. Everypony slowly began to open their eyes as the blinding light subsided.

Prose caught sight of a pony she’d missed very dearly. “Twilight!” she shouted in recognition.
“Sombra!” Chorus followed.
“Savoir!” Ginger added.
The group of couples ran up to each other, each embracing their other halves.
“How did you find us?” Chorus asked Sombra.
“We figured out the message! The one in Prose’s letter!” Sombra exclaimed.
Chorus and Ginger looked over at Prose.

“You left them a secret message, and we still tried to escape on our own?” Chorus questioned.

Prose shrugged, a slightly guilty expression on her face. “It was more of a Plan B. I didn’t know how much I could trust the mailing department of Time Jail.”

Chorus and Ginger rolled their eyes.

“Well, the mailing system must’ve been somewhat faulty, because what took you ponies so long?” Ginger asked Sombra, Twilight, and Savoir.

“Long?” Savoir laughed. “You’ve been gone for less than a day.”

Less than a day?” Prose was shocked. “We’ve been gone for months!”

Months?” Twilight was also shocked. “Time really must work differently here.”

It sure does,” a voice remarked from the hallway.

The ponies turned to face the sound of the voice. The door to their hiding spot now stood ajar. Effie stood in the hallway, clearly furious.

“You ponies never know when to quit, do- ARGH!”

Sombra blasted Effie with a surge of magic, knocking her to the ground.

RUN!” Sombra advised the group.

The group did not hesitate to book it out of there. Sombra led the charge down the halls and through the twists and turns of Time Jail. As soon as the Recreation Room came into view, Sombra led the group inside. There was no barrier blocking them from entering. The barrier must’ve only been there to keep ponies in. The idle ponies of the Recreation Room turned their attention to the six ponies that had just suddenly arrived.

“What now?” Savoir asked, waiting for orders.

“I- I don’t know…” Sombra conceded.

Twilight stepped forward.

“I think I have an idea.” she pointed to the TV on the other end of the room. “If that thing is anything like the things back in the other room, I might be able to hijack it. I could use its power to transport us. Hopefully I can get us back home, but anywhere other than here sounds like a safe bet right now.”

“Sounds like a good enough plan to me!” Chorus encouraged.

“Let’s do it,” Savoir joined in.

Twilight led the group back to the cozy corner where the TV sat. Several ponies sat around it, watching their current programming. Prose addressed the watchers.

“Hey everypony! We just need to borrow this for a moment. Don’t mind us!” she politely warned.

The ponies stared blankly back at her, oblivious.

Sombra stepped beside Prose.

“Everypony get out, or I’ll make you get out,” Sombra bared his abnormally sharp teeth and let dark magic threateningly loom around his horn.

The frightened ponies scattered away from the TV.

“Thanks,” Prose thanked Sombra.

“No problem,” Sombra smiled. “Now, Twilight, are you ready to take us home?”

Twilight stepped up to the TV. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”

Twilight concentrated for a moment, focusing her magical energy towards the TV. She cast a pink beam of light at the TV. And just like last time, immediately, green magic thrust itself back from the TV and at Twilight. Twilight fought back intensely against the green magic, trying to gain control of the TV. The rest of the ponies patiently waited around her, standing around Twilight in silent support. Twilight pushed harder and harder against the green, her pink magic almost entirely taking over.

YOU!” a voice shrieked from the entrance to the Recreation Room. Effie had found them. She began to charge at them from across the room. The ponies watched her, terrified.

Hurry!” Prose urged Twilight.

I’m trying!” Twilight cried. “Can I get some help here?”

Chorus and Sombra hurried to Twilight’s side, ready to help. Sombra struck his magic into Twilight’s beam, increasing its power. Chorus did the same. The magic was rushed and anxious, making the beam shake and wobble with uncertainty. And to make matters worse, Effie was mere meters away.

NOW! DO IT NOW!” Ginger pleaded, realizing they were out of time.

Chorus, Twilight, and Sombra pushed as hard as they could, and the green magic had no choice but to submit. Their magic crashed into the screen, shattering it completely. A blinding white light enveloped the ponies, quickly sucking them one by one into the small box. In an instant, the ponies had disappeared from the Recreation Room, completely at the mercy of the magic of Equestria’s timeline.
