Can I keep her.
The only chapter.
Load Full Story“Can I keep her?” Anon proudly held up the small changeling drone in his hands and presented it to Twilight like a lost puppy. He had found the creature in his room during the attack and found it cute how it kept trying to bite him. Until that love blast happened and made it docile.
“What? Anon where did you find that… insect?!?” Twilight shouted. It had only been a few hours since her brother and future sister had released a massive love blast to banish all the changelings from the city. So far only a few dead one had been found among the rubble, the rest had all been blasted out of the city, except the one in his arms apparently.
Anon shrugged. “She was thrown into me when your brother did his thing… so. Can I keep her?” Anon gave off a goofy smile and the changeling licked its own eyeball with its forked tongue, happy to remain right where it was.
“No you can’t help it!” Twilight’s yelling attracted the rest of her friends into the guest rooms she was using.
“Her.” Anon corrected. Ignoring the newcomers.
Twilight groaned and Rainbow spotted the cause of her friend’s frustration springing her into action.
“Bug!” Rainbow went to buck it in the face but missed when Anon pulled the changeling tight against his chest and lovingly stroked its frill. The changeling let out a happy buzz as he pet her head.
“Don’t touch my pet.” Anon chastised the rainbow mare. “Bad pony.” He gave rainbow a small smack on the muzzle with a rolled up newspaper he got from… somewhere.
Something about the way he said it and the following whack pulled the fight right out of her and made Rainbow’s ears and tail droop.
“Now sugarcube, changelings ain’t pets.” Applejack shook her head and gave Rainbow a comforting nudge on her side. ”Yall right there Dash?
“Why not?” Anon tilted his head and the changeling mirrored him. Despite her initial fear Fluttershy had a hard time not finding the act cute. She also noticed the changeling had a collar around its neck that wasn’t there before with a little nameplate.
“Because.” Twilight was trying extremely hard not to grind her teeth. Her dentist had already told her off for that last visit. “Changelings are sentient creatures. Not pets!”
“I wouldn’t mind being a pet.” Fluttershy whispered, quite jealous of the way Anon was scratching behind the changeling’s ears. Rarity took a keen interest with a flick of her ear and a sparkle behind her eyes.
“Is she a pony?” Anon turned the changeling around to look into those big blue buggy eyes. He saw no sign of intelligence. “Nope.” He nodded after answering his own question.
“Well no.” Twilight sighed. “It’s,” Anon glared at her, “she’s not a pony.”
“And didn’t you call changelings monsters?” Anon tucked the changeling under his left arm and tapped his chin with his right index finger. “So the law doesn’t count.”
“Yes but…”
“He’s got you there Darling.” Rarity was nodding along while eying Fluttershy’s neck and thinking up designs.
“Therefore, if changelings are monsters, she can be my pet!” Anon declared victoriously lifting the changeling above his head and giving her a happy toss into the air. She buzzed right back into his waiting arms with a fang filled smile.
“Darling while I hate to argue against such things, you can’t have monsters as pets either. It’s against the law.” Rarity pointed out while Spike gave her googoo eyes. Anon and his new pet knew that would never go anywhere especially with how Rarity was now eyeing Flutters.
“Sure I can. I have a license.” Anon nodded and rummaged in his pocket after tucking the changeling back under his arm.
“Now even I can tell you’re fibbing sugar.” Applejack rolled her eyes still stroking Rainbow’s mane while the rainbow mare mumbled ‘I’m not a bad pony’ over and over.
“Actually AJ, that’s a real thing. Even I have one.” Fluttershy was again ignored by most of the group as she pulled a card from her mane. Pinkie was being unusually quiet throughout this whole interaction as she sat in the corner with a manic smile on her face.
“Ah, here it is.” Anon pulled out his license and shoved it into Twilight’s face. “See. I have a monster license. Ergonomics she can be my pet as changelings are monsters and I have a license. Checkmate sparkle but.”
“I don’t think half those words work.” Applejack mumbled to mostly herself.
“What?” Twilight’s eye began to twitch. “But, why would you have that?!? I could understand if Fluttershy did.”
“But I do.” Fluttershy was on the verge of tears from both being ignored and the hungry looks Rarity was giving her.
Anon again shrugged and had to readjust his new pet in his arms. “Catching Timberwolves earns quite a few bits and the puppers can be quite tame for a human.” He said sagely. Even though the last one had tried eating his foot before he gave it a chicken and became its friend. Poor Leafy was living out on a farm now… Anon realized he would have to visit him again soon to see how the study on Timberwolves was going.
“Anyway now that you know, I’m keeping her. Make sure not to hurt her.” Anon walked from the room leaving a group of stunned mares behind.
“Wait!” Pinkie finally spoke up and Twilight looked hopeful that someone might get through to him. “What’s her name?” Pinkie followed after the strange pair asking questions to set up an upcoming ’Anon got a pet’ party.
Fluttershy followed along with Rarity by her side whispering something in her ear that made her blush.
Twilight fell on her side, exhausted and feeling done with life.
“I’m not a bad pony!” Rainbow finally shouted after Anon much too late for him to hear since he was gone from the room.
“Shh, I know ya ain’t Sugarcube.” Applejack gave Rainbow a friendly kiss on the forehead. “How about we go get some lunch.”
Twilight sat up. “I could eat.” This whole thing could be tomorrow Twilight’s problem.
