Red Moon

Cassidy stepped aside so that the Dazzlings could enter the house. It was filled with mostly antique furniture, though a lot of it looked expensive. The only things that appeared new were the couch and the flat screen television.

“I should get dressed. Feel free to help yourselves to the food in the refrigerator. Most of the streaming networks are available, so feel free to use that as well. Also, the shower is down the hall to the left.”

“Dibs!” Adagio shouted out. Aria pouted as Adagio got to use the shower first. Sonata sat down to watch some television.

Once all three of the Dazzlings got to use the shower and put on clean clothes, they cooked up a frozen pizza that Cassidy had in the refrigerator. They all ate while watching television when the front door opened and in walked a tall man with short, black hair. He wore a gray T-shirt and black jeans. Physically, he looked very muscular.

“Cassidy, who are these girls?” The man asked.

Cassidy stood up from the couch and walked over to the man. “These are Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk. Everyone, this is my uncle Eli.”

The Dazzlings smiled and waved hello.

Cassidy then whispered something to Eli. Eli then nodded his head. “Feel free to stay here as long as you need.” Eli said.

Cassidy then stretched. “Well, it’s pretty late so I’m off to bed. The couch unfolds into a bed, and it should be big enough for the three of you.”

Adagio and Aria agreed. They folded out the bed from the couch. After everyone had brushed their teeth and everything, Sonata approached Cassidy as he headed for his room.

“Hey Cassidy, can I ask you something personal?” Sonata asked.

“Sure, ask away.” Cassidy replied.

“Can I…Sleep in your room? Just for tonight?”

“Why? What’s wrong with your sisters?”

“Nothing. It’s just…I feel safer with you for some reason.”

“Alright. But only for tonight.”

“Thank you!” Sonata then followed Cassidy into his room. He then showed Sonata his bed.

“You can have the bed. I’ll just pull out a sleeping bag and sleep on the floor.”

Sonata shook her head. “No, no. This is your house. You can have the bed.”

Cassidy then thought for a moment. “We could, you know, share the bed.”

Sonata blushed. “You don’t mind?”

“No, not at all. And don’t worry about me trying anything. I promise that I am not a creep.”

Sonata and Cassidy both got into bed and slid under the covers. Sonata felt very at ease with Cassidy by her side. Like he was her protector.

At a nearby hideout, Drake walked into a throne room where a girl his age was waiting for him. They both stood in front of a tall woman sitting on a throne.

“Drake, Dawn, how is our mission going?” The woman asked.

“It is going very well, mother.” Drake replied. “Most of the teenagers in this town have been converted, and now pledge their loyalty to you.”

“And there is indeed magic in this town.” Dawn said. “I can taste it in their blood.”

The woman made a sinister smile. “Excellent. And what about the werewolf problem?”

Drake and Dawn lowered their heads. “We have been unable to find them, mother.” Drake said.

“And I’m sorry to say that one of them killed a recent convert.” Said Dawn.

The woman became silent. A stern look then appeared on her face. “You let them kill one of my followers?”

“It was no ordinary werewolf!” Drake pleaded. “It was the one who has been fighting us for years!”

“The one who seeks vengeance!” Dawn said.

The woman stood up from her throne. “I see. This particular werewolf has been a thorn in my side for far too long. He must be eliminated permanently. Understood?”

Both Drake and Dawn bowed. “We understand, mother.” They said in unison.

“Good. Now leave me be. It is time for my bath.” The woman waved her hand and Drake and Dawn both left the throne room. The woman then removed her dress and walked over to a stone bathtub filled with blood. She slowly slid into it and relaxed.

The next morning Cassidy woke up to the smell of something cooking. He got dressed and walked into the kitchen where he found Sonata cooking breakfast. Adagio, Aria, and Eli were all seated at the kitchen table already eating.

Sonata turned her head and looked at Cassidy. “Good morning sleepyhead!” She said with a smile.

“Good morning.” Cassidy replied. “I see that you made breakfast.”

“I just wanted to thank you for letting us stay here last night.” Sonata said.

“It was no problem. So, what are you cooking?”

“Omelets.”

“Sounds good.” Cassidy sat at the table and Sonata gave him an omelet. He took a bite and was blown away. “Wow! This is really good!”

“Thank you!” Sonata sat at the table and joined the others.

“So Sonata, do you want to join me and Aria in crashing the costume party tonight?”

Cassidy stopped eating. “Party? What party?”

“A student named Bulk Biceps is throwing a costume party tonight.” Aria said. “We weren’t invited, so we figured we’d just crash it. We’ll be in costume, so it’s not like anyone is going to know it’s us.”

Cassidy and Eli both looked at each other with worried faces.

“Is something wrong?” Sonata asked.

Cassidy looked over at Sonata. “Not at all. In fact, I think I will join you at the party.”

Adagio raised an eyebrow. “Really? Why?”

“Let’s just say that I don’t think we’ll be the only party crashers there tonight.”
