Sapphire Star lost her father suddenly, and her mother, Princess of Friendship Twilight Sparkle, decides that she needs to get out of the castle, for her own good.

But when an Infection ravages Equestria, stemming from the Everfree, and her mother stops responding, it's up to her and her friends to try and help as many ponies as they can, and learn how to hold friendship strong in the wake of a stress that seems insurmountable.
