Fluttershy ended up tagging along all the way to Golden Oaks Library. "And that's everything that's led up to today." Ray said.

"You two are such polite dragons. I wish the adult dragons would take note." Fluttershy said.

"Well, we're here at the Library." Twilight said.

"Oh...Um..." Fluttershy said and then headed inside before them.

"...Okay, that's wierd..." Sunset said. "Wait, I thought we left the light on when we left?"

"We did. And I forgot to turn it off." Twilight said.

"Well if that's true, why are the lights off now?" Sunset asked.

"Oh dear, I hope we didn't get in trouble." Twilight said. After the quartet entered, the purple unicorn flipped the lights on. The moment she did...

"SURPRISE!"

A whole bunch of ponies suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and one very familiar Pink Earth Pony rushed up to the quartet. "So, where you surprised? Were you, were you?" The Earth Pony asked.

"Very surprised." Sunset said. "Didn't we see you earlier today? Why'd you run off like--"

Sunset didn't get to finish her statement. "Well you did. And I saw you, and then I realized I never saw you before. So if I never saw you before, that must make you new to Ponyville. And if your new to Ponyville, I figured the best way to make you feel welcome was a 'Welcome to Ponyville Party', so here we are!" The Pink Pony said. "By the way, name's Pinky Pie."

Sunset could feel her eyes spiral. ...Did...anyone else catch up with how fast this pony was talking? The amber unicorn thought to herself.

It took a while for Sunset to recover from the dizzy spell trying to keep up with Pinkie Pie's motor mouth caused, but the Amber Unicorn was soon into the party. "Boy, this party's going on for quite some time. Shouldn't every pony be getting some rest by now?" Twilight asked.

"Actually, from what I understand, they have to stay up for an extended period for the Summer Sun Celebration." Spike said.

"Yeah, they did that in Canterlot too." Ray said.

"But then why was Sunset insistent I turn in at six PM before waking me up at like three AM?" Twilight said.

"Because I knew how early the celebration was going to start. You were a growing filly back then." Sunset said.

"...Heh. Yeah, that's you. Always looking out for me." Twilight said.

"Hey, I wouldn't be a good Big Sister figure if I didn't." Sunset said. Twilight couldn't help but smile at that.

Sadly, Twilight's fears about Nightmare Moon turned out to be well founded as when it came time for Princess Celestia to appear, she was missing. And then that was when Nightmare Moon appeared. After Nightmare Moon exited the Town Hall, Twilight made a dash for the Golden Oaks Library. While Sunset followed her, so did Rainbow Dash who had noticed Twilight. Soon after Rainbow Dash went in after the two unicorns, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy also soon went in the library too.

"All right, what's going on? How on Equees did you know Nightmare Moon was coming?" Rainbow Dash asked Twilight.

"Whoa there, sugar-cube, give the mare some breathing room." Applejack said, yanking Rainbow Dash back.

Twilight sighed. "Before coming here, I read up on Nightmare Moon, and how signs were pointing on her returning this year. With Princess Celestia missing, our best bet on getting rid of Nightmare Moon is to find something called the Elements of Harmony."

"Elements of Harmony, a reference guide." Pinkie Pie suddenly stated while getting out a book.

"Where did you find that?!" Twilight exclaimed, shocked on how she could've missed it.

"It was under 'E'~" Pinkie Pie said in a little bit of a sing-song voice.

Twilight decided to just shrug that off as she opened up the book. "It says here that there while there are seven elements of harmony, only five were originally known: Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, and Loyalty. It's also saying that when Nightmare Moon was banished, a seventh element was discovered known as Empathy with the last element being unknown." Twilight said. "There's more: The book's also saying that the last known location of the Elements is the Everfree Forest."

That made the Ponyville residents feel a little doom. "Did you just say the Everfree forest?" Rarity asked.

It wasn't long before the group of seven was now at the edge of the Everfree Forest. "So, this is the Everfree Forest then?" Twilight asked.

"It is. But, let's not worry about that." Pinkie Pie said. "We have elements to find."

Twilight was about to say something when Sunset stopped her. "Something tells me, we might need all the help we can get." The amber unicorn said.

"Well then, let's do this thing." Applejack said.

"Indeed, I would hate for my sister to be forced to live in an eternal night." Rarity said.

"Okay, you can cut the forcefulness." Sunset said.

"Huh?" That caught the other ponies off guard.

"I'm really good at being able to read emotions, and whenever you call Sweetie Belle your sister, I can just tell it's forced. My ears can't lie." Sunset said.

Rarity looked pensive a little. "...Rarity, have you been hiding somethin'?" Applejack asked.

"Trust me, you'll feel a lot better when you let your true feelings out." Sunset said.

"I...I suppose it is probably about time I explained it." Rarity said. "Truth of the matter is, I'm actually a few years older than I appear."

"How in Tartarus did you disguise your age so well?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"She's a fashionista; you're telling me that someone like Rarity wouldn't have found a way to make herself appear younger than she actually is?" Sunset asked.

"...Well now that you've pointed that out, I guess I can see the logic." Rainbow Dash said.

"And I'm willing to put good money on the fact that while Sweetie Belle may not be your sister, she is your daughter." Sunset said.

"Okay that part, I'm not even sure how you managed to figure that much out." Rarity said.

"Ray did mention that he knows the smell of a mare whose been claimed." Twilight pointed out.

"Yeah, that's what really tipped me off." Sunset said. "So, where is Sweetie Belle's dad?"

"I'm...afraid you won't be able to find him." Rarity said. "On the account he died a couple of years before Sweetie Belle was born."

"As much as I appreciate hearing the truth about Rarity, we have elements to find." Rainbow Dash said. Just then, the cliff face the grounded ponies were on gave way, causing most of them to start falling. "Fluttershy, help me out here!" Rainbow Dash said. Only Sunset & Applejack managed to avoid falling, with Sunset barely hanging onto the broken cliff.

Applejack noticed and slid down to Sunset. "Applejack, what do I do?" Sunset asked.

Applejack then noticed something. "...Let go." Applejack said.

Sunset was going to question, but she noticed something in Applejack's eyes. "...You can see Rainbow and Fluttershy below huh?" Sunset asked.

"Eeyep." Applejack said. Sunset let go at that and was caught by the two Pegasi, with Applejack finding her own way down more safely.

"That could've ended a whole lot worse than it did." Sunset said.

"If you ask me, honesty is the best policy." Applejack said.

The group continued onward, only to encounter a Manticore which was acting quite viciously. Twilight thought she could reason with the manticore, but ended up getting a furry fist. However, Fluttershy said very faintly for every pony to wait.

"Wait." Sunset said, just after Rarity also got furry swipped at. "Fluttershy, what's going on?" Sunset asked. In a bizare display of what Sunset could only describe as the ultimate beast taming, Fluttershy took out a thorn that was in the Manticore's paw, and then the Manticore was licking Fluttershy like a kitty. "...Bwah?" Sunset was shocked.

"Fluttershy, how on earth did you know about the thorn?" Twilight asked.

"I didn't. Sometimes, we all just need a little kindness." Fluttershy said.

The group continued onward from there, which was when they encountered a deep section of the forest that had very little light. When Sunset decided to provide some light, the trees around them had such scary faces that it scared them all. All of them except Pinkie Pie, that is. "Pinkie Pie, what are you laughing at?" Sunset asked.

After the impromptu giggle fest; which Sunset had to admit she did need; the group continued through the forest, before coming across a flooding river. It was within this river that the group met a sea serpent whose mustache had been damaged, and his tears was why the river had become flooded. In a display of what Sunset could only describe as Rarity's fashonista roots taking center stage, Rarity cut off part of her own tail to repair the sea serpent's mustache. "You know, you didn't have to do that Rarity, the mustache would've grown back." Sunset said after the sea serpent used his body to help them across the river.

"Perhaps it would have, yet he would've had to go a terribly long time until then." Rarity said. "Besides, thanks to my generosity, the sea serpent helped us across."

"...Okay fair enough; I'll give you that one." Sunset said.

The group then found a broken bridge which Rainbow Dash was able to fly over to try and fix. However, in the process, it seemed Nightmare Moon tried to play into Rainbow Dash's ego and conjured up something called the Shadowbolts to try and coax Rainbow Dash onto the corrupted alicorn's side. However, Rainbow Dash proved to be too loyal to her friends, and fixed the bridge anyways, all while practically telling off Nightmare Moon. "I'd never leave my pals hanging." Rainbow Dash said.

"No pony even had to talk you out of it either; you practically did that yourself." Sunset said.

"Hey, well...there's something important I need to tell some pony once we're done. And I'd rather talk with them about it first." Rainbow Dash said. "It's a bit of a Pegasus thing."

"You don't need to say any more." Twilight said. "I only question what brought that on."

"Rarity coming out about her relationship with Sweetie Belle." Rainbow Dash said. "There's some pony I've been neglecting to say anything to, but after Rarity owned up to being Sweetie's mother, I...I feel like I need to have a talk with some pony whose special to me. Not a daughter like Rarity has, but still some pony special."

Applejack began to open her mouth, but Rarity stopped her. "If that's what you need to do, then don't let us stop you." Rarity said.

"Trick is going to be finding the right place and time to inform them." Rainbow Dash said.

"Yeesh, sounds like it's a delicate situation." Sunset said.

"It is." Rainbow Dash ensured the others.

Applejack looked at Rarity before the later started to whisper into AJ's ear. "I have a good feeling it relates to the Pegasus filly Sweetie Belle is friends with." Rarity whispered.

"Ah...gotcha..." Applejack said simply. She then took another look at Rainbow Dash. And here ah thought I'd seen every side of Rainbow. Turns out ah haven't. Applejack thought to herself.

The group of seven ponies have made it inside a ruined castle where the elements were said to be stored. They did manage to find them, though they were all stones. "I'm no egghead, but I'm only counting six of these elements." Rainbow Dash said.

"The book mentioned that a spark would reveal the mystery element." Twilight said. "I have a spell in mind, but it's kind of dangerous."

"Like tartarus am I letting you do such a dangerous spell alone; I'm helping you out." Sunset said.

"I don't know if that's possible; after all, the spell took me a week to be able to cast, and I only found it in a book by Starswirl the Bearded." Twilight noted.

"Oh..." Sunset said. "Still, I have to try." Just then, Nightmare Moon appeared, and lifted up the elements to magic them and her away. Twilight lept at the corrupt alicorn and got teleported alongside the elements. "! NO! NOT AGAIN! THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN!" Sunset practically cried out.

"Whoa, what're you on about suddenly?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"There's no time! We have to find her...we have to find Twilight!" Sunset was pratically panicking so hard, she didn't even think of the elements. And frankly, in her mind, she couldn't care less about the elements right now; the only thing on her mind was finding Twilight. If something happens to Twilight...if Twilight ends up going missing...then Velvet will be devestated... Sunset thought to herself, remembering the state she found her own mother in after Sunburst went missing. "No...not again...I won't let another mother starve herself nearly to death over her missing child! We must find Twilight!" Sunset said.

"Hey, you think the flashing lights are where she's at?" Rainbow Dash said, pointing out a nearby castle spire where flashing lights were going on.

"That must be where Twilight is!" Sunset said and rushed off. The others followed close behind her.

Meanwhile, Twilight had been trying; and failing; to activate the elements while dodging Nightmare Moon. However, the corrupted alicorn seemingly broke the in-active elements, and thought her victory was guaranteed now. "Ha! So much for your precious elements. Now the night will last forever, and you will never see Celestia again!" Nightmare Moon said triumphantly.

"I can hear them, there in here!" Sunset's voice was heard coming up to where Twilight & Nightmare Moon were.

In that instance, Twilight had a realization. "Do you really think you can destroy the elements just like that? Well, you can think again, Nightmare Moon, for the representations of the elements..." In the middle of Twilight's speech, Sunset and the rest of the group of ponies came into the room. "...Are right here!" Twilight began; each of the inactive elements began to have it's pieces swarm the various other ponies. "Applejack who was able to assure Sunset as she dangled from a cliff represents the element of Honesty; Fluttershy who tamed the manticore represents the element of Kindness; Pinkie Pie whose happy nature helped us face our fears represents the element of Laughter; Rarity who sacrificed her own tail to restore a sea serpent's beauty represents the element of generosity; Rainbow Dash who refused to abandon her friends represents the element of Loyalty; finally, Sunset Shimmer whose been able to read and relate to many emotions throughout her life represents the Element of Empathy." Twilight explained.

"You don't have the mystery element; the spark did not work!" Nightmare Moon said.

"That's what you think Nightmare Moon. For a different sort of spark happened when these ponies came to me. I realize that they are my friends!" Twilight said. Suddenly, a seventh element; one not even broken; appeared from nowhere. "And that spark that led me to that conclusion has drawn out the mysterious last element: The Element of Magic!" Twilight said.

All at once, the elements that weren't the two Sunset & Twilight had suddenly became necklaces around the ponies. Meanwhile, the two that Sunset & Twilight had became crowns and once that was done, a magical beam of rainbow light engulfed Nightmare Moon.

Author's Note

This episode has been reformatted to combine part 3 with what would've been part 4 and then some so that I don't end up with a situation like I did with the original rewrite where the first three episodes got taken over by the Nightmare Moon plotline. Possible even more.

Though it seems despite my best efforts, the Nightmare Moon stuff is going to still bleed into Episode 3. However, if viewers were curious about Valarie; the Digimon Alli name dropped back in the Season 0 epilogue; well, your patience is going to be rewarded.
