Lyra & Bon Bon: Gift of the Heart

It was Hearth's Warming Eve

Load Full Story

“Lyra~ Wake up~” Was the voice the aquamarine unicorn heard as she woke up. To which she’d see the face of the love of her life, Bon Bon, standing next to her bedside. Lyra rubbed her eyes with her hooves, groaning a little as she sat up. “Bonnie? What time is it…?” She asked, still adjusting to being awake. For the time being, at least.

“8 O’clock, honey.” The earth pony kissed her cheek, giving her a smile. “I got up early to make us breakfast. Because today’s a special day~” Bon Bon looked giddy. Oh no. Now, Lyra had to wrack her brain to try and remember what today even was. Curse her memory. Curse her sleepiness.

“Uuuuuuuuuuh…” Was all she could get out. Shaking her head as she tried to force herself awake. That’s when her eyes caught sight of the Calendar on the wall. It was the 24th of December. Hearth’s Warming Eve. OH!

Lyra shot up out of bed, her boundless energy returning to her. “IT’S HEARTH’S WARMING EVE! BONNIE! IT’S HEARTH’S WARMING EVE!” She shouted at her love, bouncing around with pure joy. “I can’t wait!”

Bon Bon chuckled at her wife’s enthusiasm. How her Lyra could still be this excited about Hearth’s Warming 5 years into their marriage, she’d never understand. But she didn’t need to understand. It’d feel wrong to know every one of Lyra’s quirks inside and out. She still wasn’t sure if she really wanted to know all about these ‘humans’ Lyra would sometimes go on about. She even checked the records back at S.M.I.L.E. with her all those years ago, and nothing about humans ever turned up. She wasn’t sure where her wife got the idea on these things, but at least it made her happy.

“Clam down, honey. You haven’t even had any of our Hearth’s Warming treats yet, and you’re already acting like you have a sugar rush.” She cupped Lyra’s face in her hooves, bringing it close to her’s, allowing them to nuzzle their noses together. “Now, why don’t we head downstairs and enjoy our breakfast together, okay?”

Lyra joined her wife as they started to walk down the stairs together. They’d be hoof in hoof if it wasn’t so dangerous to do while walking down the stairs. Wouldn’t want to trip and fall on Hearth’s Warming Eve, would we?

As they both reached the bottom of the steps, the smell hit Lyra’s nostrils in an instant. Freshly baked blueberry pancakes? With whipped cream and syrup! That was one of the best combinations ever, by her standards. There was even orange juice on the side. Now, this was going to be a good breakfast.

The two mares sat next to each other, holding hooves as they leaned against one another for a few moments before they started to eat the hot and ready meal before them. These had to be the softest, fluffiest pancakes the aquamarine unicorn had ever eaten. Bons has always been a better chef than her. But that’s okay. If she wanted to be a chef, she would have taken cooking classes when she was still in school.

“I’ve already closed up shop for the holiday’s.” Bon Bon said, looking at Lyra with a smile. “Which means, we’ll have all the time in the world together.” She raised her hoof to the unicorn’s cheek, gently rubbing it as she stared into her true love’s eyes…

“Oh, Bons, that’s…” Lyra began to say, before her mind reminded her of something important. Very important. Bon Bon’s Hearth’s Warming Gift! She hasn’t picked it up yet! Oh Celestia… she had to get back to the General Store before they ran out! “That’s wonderful, Bonnie! But um… I have some errands I have to, uh, get to today! I’ll get them done as fast as possible, and be right back here, okay? Okay!”

And off Lyra ran, right out the door and into the snow. The glow of her magic was seen as it dragged her scarf with her outside. Leaving Bon Bon alone in the kitchen, blinking for a few seconds before she shrugged, sitting up. “Better put these away for her when she’s back.”

She picked up Lyra’s half eaten stack of pancakes, trotting over to the fridge, pushing it open, and slowly placing the stack inside. She had to really try to keep it steady. But it wasn’t like this was the first time she’s done this before. And this wasn’t the first time Lyra’s run off to do who knows what.

“Well if she isn’t going to be here… That gives me time to drop by the Post Office and pick up her present.” The mare nodded to herself, closing the fridge as she left to grab her own scarf.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyra galloped down the street, leaving hoofprints in the cold snow as she went. She just had to make it to Filthy’s shop in time. If she didn’t, she knew there’d be a line! And if there was a line, she’d have to wait! And the longer she waited, the less time she had too-
CRASH!
Lyra fell flat on her flanks, having run into something with enough force to knock herself over. She groans, rubbing her head as her eyes adjusted to what she just ran into. She could hear something, but she was still too dizzy to really make out the gibberish. That was, until her eyes and ears adjusted to see a grey earth pony before her, rubbing her head too as she started getting up.
“Oh, blast and bother! Watch where you’re going you-” Octavia paused mid sentence as she saw who was in front of her. “Lyra? What are you thinking, galloping around at that speed?”
“S-sorry, Octavia!” She quickly blurted out the apology, getting back to her hooves. “I’m in a hurry! I have to go! Bye!” She galloped off again, speeding down the streets of Ponyville like a madmare. Leaving only a flurry of show in her wake.
Octavia stared dumbfounded for a few moments before she got up with a sigh. “I swear, that pony is going to hurt herself one of these days… I just hope she remembers that she promised to join us for the charity orchestra today…” And so, the grey pony walked off towards Mane Square, to begin setting up the event.
Lyra, meanwhile, had run all the way to Filthy’s Shop. She skidded to a stop, heaving her breath in and out as she tried to catch her breath. Looking up, she saw that there wasn’t a single pony in a line. Yes! She made it!
She opens up the store’s door, the bell ringing to signify a pony had entered his shop. Filthy Rich turned his attention to the door and gave a smile. “Why, Miss Heartstrings! What brings you to-” He was cut off by the Unicorn, who didn’t even give him time to finish his sentence.
“I’d love to chat, but I gotta hurry!” Was all she said to him before checking the selves. Preservatives. Food. Bags of candy. Zap Apple Jam. Pretty much just all food. Not the aisle she needs. She moved on to the next. Wood. Tools. Tool Boxes. Yeah, nope. Not this one either. Next one had books and uh… definitely not. Last one had kitchenware on display. There we go!
Lyra looks at every shelf. But she couldn't find what she was looking for. She double checks… triple checks. Quadruple checks. “Come on! Come on! Where are they?!” She said, a panicked tone rising in her voice.
“Uh… anything I can help you with?” Filthy asked, looking at the unicorn, who was currently eyeballing one of the shelves. Real closely. Almost too closely. Weirdly close. Uncomfortably close. He wants her to stop, this is starting to weird him out.
“Filthy! Um… where do you keep the candy presses? You know, uh… those things used to shape candy? The things Bon Bon likes to use?” She asked, coming up real close to his face, her hooves resting on his shoulders as she pulled him in, desperate.
“I’m sorry. We’re all sold out.” He replied.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“What do you mean it isn’t here?” Bon Bon asked the mail mare, not believing what she was told. “The delivery date was today!”

“I’m sorry, Miss Bon. Last night, the weather got really bad and the delivery stallion wasn’t able to fly out of Canterlot.” Muffins replied, giving her an apologetic look.

“Well, have somepony fly out there and get it! I need this delivered today!” Bon Bon urged, a hit of worry in her tone. This couldn’t be happening. Here she was, possibly unable to give her wife a present on Hearth’s Warming? Not on her watch.

“I can’t. The delivery boy caught a cold, and my shift is almost over.” The pegasus replied to her, still offering an apologetic look. She pulled a basket of muffins out from under the desk. “Muffin?”

The earth pony groaned. Shaking her head no as she turned to leave. “So, the package is still in Canterlot?” She asked, to confirm.

“Um… yeah. It should still be-” Muffins gave her answer, but as soon as that yeah was uttered, Bon Bon was already out the door, much to the mare’s surprise. She paused her sentence for a moment before awkwardly letting out the last line.” …there.”

Bon Bon trotted down the streets of Ponyville with purpose. She was catching the closest train to Canterlot, and marching on over to that post office to pick up Lyra’s present, and then riding back home. It was a simple plan. Should be easily executed. Except, for one small detail she didn’t account for.

“One two way ticket to Canterlot, please.” She said to the Booking Clerk, putting the required amount of bits on the table.

“Of course, ma’am. One moment please.” He turned to look behind him, grabbing a ticket that would allow the mare to catch a ride to Canterlot and back. He gave it to her, and said a line that Bon Bon hadn’t accounted for. “Next train is in three hours.”

“Three… hours…?” Bon Bon asked, aghast. No, no no no! Three hours?! She didn’t have three hours, did she? Oh Celestia… fine! Fine! She left Lyra’s pancakes in the fridge. And if anything, she could just say Furlong called her for a mission. That’d explain her absence without ruining the surprise. Oh, the things she’s willing to do for her…

She sat herself down on the bench, annoyed as she stared out into nothing. This was going to be a long three hours. At least she always packed a book to read whenever she went out. You never know when you’re going to be called on a mission and need to act discreet, after all.

Casino Royale was the book’s title. All Bon Bon could hope was that it’d be long enough, and entertaining enough to entertain her for these next three hours. She sighed, opening the book and turning to the first page.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyra galloped out of the store, dashing her way through the city in a way that’d put Rainbow to shame. Canterlot. That’s where Filthy told her he got his last shipment of candy presses. She just needed to catch the train to Canterlot! And… buy a ticket… oh… well, at least she brought all bits with her. Unlike last time. She learned from that. All she needed to do was pass by mane square and- She stopped in her tracks, as she saw the stage set up in the middle of the plaza… OH! The Donation Drive! She promised she’d be there! Oh no… okay, she’s got this. It’s only a few hours, and Canterlot was a big place. How many ponies could really be looking for a candy press there, right? Right.
As she stepped up onto the platform, she saw Octavia setting up a stand for her cello while Vinyl was in the back, working on both her turntables and the light show. Vinyl’s gaze turned to Lyra, and she flashed her a big grin. “Heeeeeeeeeey girl! Here I was thinking you were gonna be a no show, and you’re proving me wrong again! Pero… that means I owe Tavi ten bits.”
“And I’ll be waiting for them, Vinyl.” The grey mare turned her gaze towards her friend before focusing her attention back on Lyra. “And you are without your lyre. Oh, goody goody gumdrops. We have to wait for you to get it.”
Lyra facehoofed. She didn’t have her lyre. Why would she? She expected to just get Bonnie her gift and head back home. Brining her lyre with her didn’t graze her mind. Oh well, she didn’t go to Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorn’s for nothing. Her horn lit up as she focused on where she knew her lyre was, and brought it forth from her room to here. Right in her grasp. “Got it!”
“Oh…” Octavia was, to say, once again dumbfounded. Here she was, staring at this unicorn who’d just conjured her lyre from who knows where. Vinyl had never done that sort of thing, and she was a unicorn! “Right… well… Now we’re just waiting on The Pony Tones to get here, and we can begin our performance. You did remember to practice, didn’t you?” She asked, her tone had a hint of annoyance to it.
This, Lyra knew, was brought on from last time the three of them performed together. And she forgot to practice. It wasn’t a total disaster, but it sure was awkward. She learned her lesson, and practiced to her heart’s content. And then almost forgot the Charity Orchestra was today. She should really start writing these things down. “Don’t worry about it, Octavia. I did! …this time.”
“See, Octy?” Vinyl said, her trademark grin somehow growing wider. “I told you she had the espíritu!”
“Yes. Yes you did.” Octavia sighed. She looked between the two unicorns, and smiled slightly. “Then, we seem to have not a thing to fuss over. Oh! Here are the stars of the show!” All three watched as the so named ‘Stars of the Show’ walked onto the stage. Rarity, Big Mclntosh, Toe-Tapper, and Torch Song. They were dressed in warm and comfy snowsuits that were very, very fashionable. No doubt Rarity’s handiwork. She always added a flair to the suits she sewed.
“Who’s ready to raise some bits for the less fortunate?” Octavia asked, receiving a rousing cheer from the group. She nodded, pressing her bow against the strings of her cello, growing a determined look in her eyes. Everypony else got in position, as a crowd slowly began to form around them. “Let’s begin.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The sound of a train pulling into the station pulled the yellowish tanned pony’s attention from her book. Looking up from the contents she’s been reading, as she hears the sounds of the locomotive stop with a clink, and a blast of steam from its pipe.

“Finally. I’ve been freezing my tail off out here.” Bon Bon got up from the bench, putting her book back into her saddlebag as she saw some ponies and creatures exiting the train. There were… more than a few, actually. They must be here for the Charity Orchestra, which was taking place in Ponyville this year. Which meant Lyra was going to be occupied for a few more hours yet. This worked in Bon Bon’s favor, as now she had time to pick up her wife’s gift, and hide it back home for Hearth’s Warming.

“Tickets please!” The conductor called. Bon Bon looked around, seeing that she was really the only pony actually at the station. A quiet ride over to Canterlot? At least she’ll be able to read without interruption as she waits for the train to arrive at its destination. This was going swimmingly.

“Here.” She said, giving him her ticket. The stallion looked it over before giving her a nod, and stepping out of the Earth Pony’s way. Allowing her onto the train. She walked her way through, eventually settling near a window seat. Making sure she was comfortable, she leaned back and once again pulled out the book she’d been reading.

The locomotive begins chugging its way out of the station. Ponyville slowly grew smaller and smaller as it faded off into the snow white distance. She couldn’t help but look out onto the town as she got further from it. Being apart from Lyra was never something she wanted to do. In fact, she’d rather be in Ponyville right now and watch her wife play her lyre.

But, she couldn’t. Not while Lyra’s gift was being held hostage by the Canterlot Post Office. Well, okay. This wasn’t comparable to a hostage situation. Not that she hadn’t dealt with them before. With Queen Twilight’s rule had also come with the expansion of S.M.I.L.E. They weren’t just an organization that hunted down monsters. Now, they were an actual spy agency.

Though, if she had to say. The part she least looked forward to in her expanded job was dealing with the Flim Flam Brothers. Their last adventure against the two was more than a headache. At least they were in custody now, and weren’t going to be busting out anytime soon. At least, she hoped not. If those two cons were going to somehow bust out of prison again she’ll… to say the least, not be very happy.

Bon Bon sighs, pulling her attention back to her book to get those thoughts out of her head. She did not need more negative emotions flowing through her system right now. Not when this was almost over. She couldn’t wait to see the look on Lyra’s face tomorrow when she opened her gift. That was what will make this all worth it. Her wife’s happiness was her happiness too, after all.

“You can do this, Bon. For Lyra.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You can do this, Lyra! For Bon Bon!” Lyra shouted, attempting to motivate herself as she galloped towards the train station. If she didn’t get her wife her Hearth’s Warming Present, that would make her, like the worst wife in Equestrian History! She could already imagine the nightmare unfolding before her eyes.
There they are, on Hearth’s Warming Day. Sitting by the fireplace and nuzzled up together. Bon Bon gives Lyra a beautifully wrapped gift box. And when she expects the same from her, Bon Bon breaks into tears, getting up and running out of the room.
Okay, maybe that was a little dramatic. And okay, maaaaaaaaybe Bonnie wouldn’t act like that. But it’d still be bad! And she wasn’t going to let Bons down! Not now, not ever!
She practically jumped onto the train platform, zooming over to the ticket booth with enough speed and force to make the stallion behind the counter jump. She rested herself on the counter by leaning against it as she tried to catch her breath. It was getting cold outside. She could tell, because she could physically see her breath as it came out. She wheezed, before managing to ask. “When’s the next train to Canterlot?”
“Oh, I’m sorry Ma’am. The last train just left two hours ago. It’s going to round its way back here before stopping to rest in the train yard.” He explained, his expression offering her an apology.
This. Was. The. Worst. News. In. History.
Okay, not the worst. But to Lyra, right now, this is absolutely horrifying. It felt like her career was over. Her relationship, in jeopardy. Her life? Well, she’d still be alive. But it felt like everything was all crashing down around her.
No. She wasn’t giving up that easily. She’s Lyra freaking Heartstrings. If there’s one thing she’s been told by more ponies than she can count, it’s that she doesn’t give up. Even if it’s for her own good.
She stepped back from the train platform. She had to think. How was she going to get to Canterlot before the sun dipped over the horizon? It was already starting to do that! Think, Lyra, think! She was going through all the possibilities. Hot Air Balloon? No, Cherry Berry was home for Hearth’s Warming by now. Flying? No wait, she wasn’t a Pegasus. She was a Unicorn. Wait… she was a Unicorn! She could teleport to Canterlot!
Okay, she’s never teleported that far before. At most, she teleported herself and Bon Bon short distances while on a few missions. That didn’t quite compare to teleporting from Ponyville all the way to Canterlot. But what other choice did she have, really?
Her horn ignited in its yellow hue, casting herself in its light before she vanished before the stallion in a flash. Leaving him, to say, dumbstruck.
She popped into existence right in front of Canterlot Train Station. She even saw the Train rolling into the station before she stumbled over to a nearby alleyway, falling down. That had taken a lot out of her, and now she felt more drained than the sink after unplugging it when the dishes were done.
Her vision started growing dark as her tiredness started overtaking her. She tried to get back up, but she was unable to fight back against her newfound need for rest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bon Bon hopped off the train, looking out on the horizon. The sky was turning pink from the setting sun. She had to get to the post office right away if she wanted to get that package. She moved through the city with purpose. Having it mapped out more than well enough from all the past missions she went on in the location.

She knew exactly where the post office was, and nothing was stopping her in her pursuit. She could already see what would unfold if she didn’t have that gift on Hearth’s Warming…

There the two of them are, sitting by the fireplace with mugs of hot chocolate in their grip. Freshly made, and topped with a layer of whipped cream. Laughing over past stories and just enjoying this moment of peace and quiet together. But then… it happens.

Lyra presents her Hearth’s Warming gift to her. Her wife’s eyes were shining so bright with love and care for her. She accepts it, but tells Lyra that she wasn’t able to get her present for Hearth’s Warming. The waterwork’s start as a heartbroken Lyra cries, running out of the room, spirit broken.

Maybe that was a little dramaticized. Even by Bon Bon’s standards. But, she wasn’t going to disappoint Lyra. Not after everything they’ve been through. She owed it to her for being with her, together, through the thick and thin of the adventure their lives have been.

The Earth Pony marched her way to the post office. Moving the push the door open, she found it wouldn’t budge. Her eyes turned their attention to a note on the door. Uh oh…

“Closed Early for Hearth’s Warming Eve. Happy Holidays!”

Bon Bon stared at the note for a few moments. She was too late. She wasn’t going to be able to pick up Lyra’s package… well, not legally at least. “Fine. If Bon Bon can’t get her wife a simple present, then Sweetie Drops will.” She ducked into the ally behind the post office, pulling her spy suitcase from her saddlebag. She pressed the button on the middle, placing it on the ground as the suitcase grew in size. Her sunglasses, suit, and grappling hook were grabbed from it within moments. It was time to get serious.

Sweetie Drops launched the hook upward. It hit the top of the roof with a click. She gave a few good tugs on it to insure she wasn’t going to fall down as soon as she tried climbing up the thing. Feeling confident, she plants her hooves against the wall of the building as she begins scaling her way up.

She planted her forehooves tightly on the rooftop’s edge, pulling herself upward using all of her upper body strength. With a grunt, she was on the roof. She scanned what was around her, and saw a vent cover close by. Perfect for infiltration.

She gripped the cover tightly in her hooves, pulling it off with a great amount of effort. She looked inside, seeing the shaft lead downward. With a nod, she planted her hooves on the sides of the shaft and began to slide down.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyra groaned, awakening to the starry sky staring back down at her. She squinted her eyes a few times before she moved her hooves up to rub the sleepiness out of her. Suddenly, a shock came to her system. “OH CELESTIA! IT'S NIGHT!” She shouted, jumping to her hooves as she started galloping down the streets of Canterlot. She had to get to the shopping district. Maybe a place would still be open, and even have the gift she was looking for!
She skidded across the snow as she made a u-turn, not stopping her relentless gallop across the snow blanketed streets of Canterlot. Nor to consider how cold she was. All that mattered to her at this moment was Bon Bon.
She saw it. The Canterlot General Store. There it was. And the lights were still on! They were still open! She tried to speed up her gallop, but the abrupt burst of adrenaline, and the combined feeling of being cold to the bone, were starting to slow her down.
The front door chimed as it was opened, and the light’s turned off. The stallion who looked like the owner of the shop walked out, levitating the keys in the air, turning to close the door and lock it.
WAAAAAAAAAAIT!!!” Lyra called at the top of her longs, stopping her gallop as she fell to her bottom, sliding across the snow before stopping right before the stallion. Heaving, as she tried to catch her breath, letting out a few coughs. She felt her nose running.
“Can I help you, Ma’am?” He asked, looking down at the snow covered mare before him. She sniffled. She might have caught a cold.
“C-can you open up your store, p-please? F-for just a few minutes? I-I- ACHOO! -I-I promise I’ll only be a few minutes… I-I just really, really need to buy my wife’s Hearth’s Warming gift…” She looked up towards him with pleading eyes. Sniffling again as she tried to prevent the snoot from running down her snout.
He looked down at the mare for a few moments. He felt pity, the poor thing looked like she’d been running around all day trying to find this gift. He smiled gently, opening the door and flicking on the lights. “Alright. Happy Hearth’s Warming, Miss.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bon Bon picked up her mug of hot chocolate, taking a small sip of it as she looked out onto the fireplace. It was crackling gently, bringing all the warmth she needed on this cold night. Lyra’s gift was nestled under the tree, wrapped a bit hastily. But it was there. She did it. Though, right now, one pony was missing.

The doorbell rang. She tilted her head, getting from the couch as she wondered who was ringing the doorbell at this hour. She prayed it was Lyra. Apparently, nopony has seen her since the concert ended. As she opened the door, she was met with a shivering, red nosed, teeth chattering Lyra. In her magic was a bag from Canterlot General.

“Lyra!” She pulled her wife inside, concern in her eyes seeing the state her love was in. “What were you doing out there? Oh, you probably caught a cold! Oh Lyra…”

The mint Unicorn sneezed, covering her muzzle with her hoof. “H-happy Hearth’s Warming… h-heh…” She said, shaking the bag a bit. There was the clanking of metal inside. Which must be as cold to the touch as Lyra was at this moment.

“Don’t worry about that right now. Come on, go sit by the fireplace and I’ll make you some fresh hot chocolate, okay?” Bon Bon urged, gently leading her wife over to the warm embrace of their fireplace. Acting quickly, she grabbed the blanket that was draped on the back of the couch and wrapped it around the freezing Unicorn.

Lyra waited for Bonnie by the fire, warming her hooves as she reached out, rubbing them against one another on occasion to speed up the warming process. Bon Bon walked back into the living room, carrying a fresh cup of hot chocolate, even with extra marshmallows as she gave it to her wife.

“Lyra, what were you thinking? You could've gotten frostbite, or worse! What made you think staying out that late was a good idea?” She asked, wanting to understand what drove her wife to stay out so long in the cold.
“J-just…” She sniffles. “Your Hearth’s Warming gift.” She gestures to the bag again. It was then that Bon Bon actually paid attention to the bag Lyra had with her when she was at the door. When she saw the frozen state she was nearly in, the bag was but an afterthought.

“My…” She started, as Lyra began to levitating the gift over to her.

“G-go on, open it… I went through enough today to wait for tomorrow…” She smiled at her wife, watching as Bon Bon opened the bag. Her eyes widening.

“These are…” She pulled the candy presses out from the box. They were in all sizes, and almost any shape she could think of. All of her presses had gotten old, and weren’t working like they used to. She’d been planning to get them replaced… “Oh Lyra… thank you…”

She leaned in, planting a kiss on her forehead. Lyra smiled, looking at Bon Bon, before her gaze turned to the tree.

Bonnie chuckled, shaking her head. “Okay. Fine, you can open your gift early too.”

Lyra grabbed the box in her magic, tearing off the wrapping paper to find… a lyre case. But not just any lyre case. It was custom made, and designed to look like a High Five, from her Human drawings! Her eyes shined as bright as the stars in Luna’s sky as she gasped, pulling Bon Bon into a tight hug.

“OH MY GOSH! THIS IS THE BEST CASE EVER! THANK YOU, BONNIE! THANK YOU!”

Bon Bon returned the hug, as she nuzzled her wife’s cheek. “Happy Hearth’s Warming, Lyra.”

Hey! Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom of my little story. I hoped you enjoyed!
