You Probably Couldn't See For The Lights,
But You Were Staring Straight At Me
Twilight knew Rarity had a new wild side...
She would play in a band on weekends and would invite Twilight to her shows but the book geek pony would always be busy.
It also just wasn't her crowd.
The rough and rowdy type that Rarity played for is a crowd she wouldn't fit in. Rarity was a punk. She would consistently style her Mane into a mohawk when she played these shows. She adorned her favorite purple leather jacket that she ever so lovingly put spikes and gemstones on.
Rarity and Twilight both had feelings for each other, of course, neither of them knew this about the other. They would be too nervous to ever admit these feelings.
But Rarity had a plan! She had been working on a new song specifically for the town's librarian, and she wanted to play it for her on stage.
But she would have to convince our dear Twilight to actually COME to the show! Which was easier said than done.
"Come, ON darling!!" Rarity pleaded to the book worm laying down in front of her, "Just this one show!!"
"I just don't think its a good idea, Rarity!" Twilight said sympathetically and with a slight frown, "It's not really my type of crowd.."
"Just ONE show!!" she said as she got up and looked Twilight straight into her purple eyes.
"Rarity.." She looked back at her
"One show." She put a hoof to her, "I promise I will make it worth your while."
Twilight went silent, slightly entranced by her beauty, but also deep in thought. She looked away for a moment. One show. That couldn't hurt right?
"Okay. I'll go to your show." She looked right back at her with a slight smile and anxious eyes.
"YES!" The fashionista jumped enthusiastically in the air with a huge smile on her face, and then hugged Twilight.
A blush appeared on Twilight's face as she was hugged by her close friend.
"I PROMISE YOU WONT REGRET IT!!" She as she let go of the lavender pony and ran off.
"See you..." Twilight said waving a hoof slowly with a bright blush on her face as she watched the punk unicorn run off.
It was a couple of hours later. It was dark out, and the lights of the venue shined brightly. Crowds of ponies filled the venue and chattering could be heard all about. With a deep gulp, Twilight walked in.
Ponies dressed in leather jackets decorated in spikes, were frequent. Ponies with jean jackets decorated in patches of different bands were common too. Spiked arm bracelets, spiked chokers, and spiked manes. Punks. This was the rabble-rousing crowd that Rarity often played for.
Twilight decided to stay near the back, to avoid anything that might come her way. She had a surprisingly good view of the stage. Which was currently empty of any ponies.
Twilight had heard the fashionista's music before when she was practicing. It was quite raw, but she never heard it before live. Especially in this type of hustle and bustle of a crowd. She was considering leaving but before she could she heard an announcement being made on the intercom.
"Please keep all and any alcohol to a bare minimum and do not throw anything on stage."
"Now without further ado, Introducing the first band of the night: The Manes"
The Manes. Rarity's band. She was the lead singer and guitarist of the band. Along with three others, Vinyl Scratch on backing guitar, Octavia on bass, and Maud Pie on drums.
Pinkie Pie used to play drums for her but it got in the way of her party planning.
The four ponies of the band walked on stage, and grabbed their individual instruments. Rarity picked up her guitar and slung it around her, and Twilight was already mesmerized by her.
"HELLO PONIES OF PONYVILLE!!" Rarity yelled into the microphone.
The crowd cheered.
"ARE YOU READY TO ROCK, DARLINGS?!" She yelled again with a smile and a small riff emanated from her guitar.
The crowd cheered even harder and raised their hooves in the air.
"OKAY THEN..." She said and then looked at her other band members and back at the crowd,
"THIS SONG GOES OUT, TO A SPECIAL LITTLE PONY IN THE CROWD TONIGHT..." She spotted Twilight, all the way in the back of the crowd and winked at her.
Twilight was speechless. She couldn't tell if she was winking at her or not.
"ONE, TWO, THREE-!"
And just then, the guitars and drums kicked up. Rarity played a riff and the tone of the distortion enunciated perfectly.
"SO BEAUTIFUL... SO SMART..."
"YOU LIGHT UP EVERY ROOM YOU ENTER"
"AND I WILL DEFEND YOUR HEART--"
"--WITH MY LIFE!!!"
The entire crowd cheered for her, pumping their hooves in the air. They were all enchanted by the beautiful punk mare. And so was Twilight, who couldn't keep her eyes off her, she was completely enchanted by the way she sang.
"I WANT TO STARE.."
"INTO YOUR PURPLE EYES--"
"--FOREVER!!!"
Rarity looked like she was staring directly at her.
Twilight was awestruck, with blush forming in her cheeks... Was she talking about her?
"EVERYPONY LOVES YOU..."
"EVERYPONY KNOWS YOU..."
"YOU'LL CHANGE THE WORLD, MY DARLING."
"AND I WANT TO BE THERE--"
"--WITH YOU!!"
One look from her sent so many feelings into Twilight's veins and everypony else in the crowd.
Everypony was clamoring to the front of the crowd, nearest the stage to get as close as possible to the beautiful white mare on stage.
The way she played her guitar, the way her mohawk glistened from the lights, the sweat falling off her face as she screamed the lyrics.
Was utterly enchanting to twilight, who couldn't move from shock.
"YOU KNOW ME..."
"AND I KNOW YOU..."
"MY HEART..."
"YEARNS FOR YOUR DELIGHTFUL COMFORT.. MY DEAR.."
"BECAUSE I KNOW"
"I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW!!"
The music goes silent for only a moment,
"It will only be you, and only you."
The drums were loud, but the beat of both Twilight's and Rarity's heart's were louder.
The music returned heavily with a beautiful riff, the smashing of the drums, and the distortion of the bass.
"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!!" She screamed like her vocal cords were giving out.
As she screamed those final words she played off the final riff.. and the song ended.
The entire crowd roared in excitement towards the ponies on stage, including and most definitely Rarity. Twilight was speechless and unmoving. She had no clue what to say.
"Thank you all!" She said into the microphone as she smiled.
She breathed heavily catching her breath, and blushed as she stared directly at Twilight who had her jaw hung open and was also blushing like crazy.
"I hope to see you after the show!" She said into the crowd who cheered, but she only had one pony she was specifically talking about.
Twilight nodded her head with a smile.
Rarity saw and smirked, and once again, she picked up her guitar, and began playing.
They had played 2 or 3 more songs after that, none of them seemingly related to Twilight, but its not like she cared. She just wanted to see her play.
She absolutely has to come back again.
