When the princess is away, the Fluttershy will play
*Seven years later*
"Spike?" Twilight's voice tried to call the young dragon from his daydreaming, but proving to be no evale. "Spike~" she tried in a more tensing tone to get his attention as well. But once again, he was not paying attention. Eventually, she then grew annoyed and began to yell only like a big sister would. "SPIIIIIIIIKE!"
"Giaaah!" Spike ended up landing on his rump, startled by Twilight sudden yell. Getting up and dusting himself off annoyed, he then said "What is it Twilight?! You didn't have to yell that loud."
Twilight then gave a annoyed expression as she said "Sorry, but its not my fault that your daydreaming. And I did try to get your attention without yelling, but you were definitely deep in thought."
Twilight gave a teasing look at Spike as he said "Were you thinking about going on a date with Rarity again?~"
Spike then blushed in embarrassment as he quickly then said, "W-Well, what about your crush on Flash sentry, huh?"
Twilight then twitched when she heard the name, as Spike then remembered what happened recently in the human world. "Twilight, I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-"
"It's ok Spike. You said it in the heat of the moment. Plus, I DID had it coming for teasing you too."
"Well, didn't you go on a date with the flash of this world recently?" Spike said with a touch of jealous. Not sure why he felt jealous when Twilight, on rare occasions, would go on a date.
Twilight then awkwardly rubbed her hoof behind her head as she said "Well, we did. But the date was so awkward. We didn't really click as I thought we would. But I'm over that crush now."
Spike then gave a small smile as he said "Well, do you have any other crushes as of late?"
Twilight giggled at him, shot him a wink, and said "Sorry Spike, but that's a secret for now." She then continued to pack her bag while blushing at Spike.
After her crush on flash was gone, she had immediately began to feel another crush on her young dragon. Part of her wanted to explore this, but she decided to wait till she truly settled into her role as princess.
Spike then zipped up her bags, and helped her to the carry her bags to the train station. However, Spike proved to have a bit trouble with carrying three bags at once as Twilight said, "Spike, are you sure you don't need any help with the bags?"
"Hrrrgh, it's not a problem Twilight. That's what a number one assistant is for after all." Spike said, as he pulled the bags up the stairs. "It just feels weird that I can't join you for this princess summons. I'm perfectly capable of helping all of you."
"I know you are Spike, and we appreciate all you do for us, especially me." She then lowers her head and nuzzles Spike's cheek with her own. "But I'm afraid this specific summons will involve with the nation of Griffonstone. And you know that Griffions and Dragons have a history of being enemies."
Spike sighed as he knew that Twilight was right. It did explain why Gilda was so violent when she came to ponyville. Twilight then felt bad for her young dragon and said "I just want to keep you safe Spike. Trust me."
The train then came to a screeching halt as Twilight grabbed all the bags with her magic and nuzzled his cheek once again. "I should be back next week Spike. Keep the castle clean while I'm gone, ok?"
Spike then tried to put on a reassuring smile for Twilight and said "Don't worry Twilight! Your number one assistant has got it allll under control!"
Twilight then looked at Spike with worry. Was he not telling her everything? Regardless, she didn't have time to think as the train was about to leave. She got on and waved goodbye with her hoof. Spike weakly waved back with his claw as he saw the friendship express leave to cantelot.
Once the train was out of sight, Spike dropped his claw and let go of his smile. He was already missing Twilight and she had barely left. He then sadly and slowly began to walk back to the castle as Spike began to work on the chores he had.
As Spike cleaned the castle as normal, he began to feel...empty inside. Being in a big crystal castle all alone his thoughts made Spike think about old, frightening thoughts. '*sigh*, I know Twilight said that she would take me next time, but...I can't help but think...dose she not need my services anymore?'
As Spike finished his cleaning of the castle, he then saw a picture of Twilight with the rest of the Main six on a picnic. He wasn't in the picture since he was busy since he was with Celestia doing royal duties in Cantrlot castle.
He then balled his claw into a fist as he said,"Why...Why did Twilight have to go and make pony friends? I was her only friend, now...I'm barely remembered anymore."
Spike then sat on one of the crystal stairs and began to cry as he continued, "I almost lost my job as Twilight's number one assistant too because of Owl-licious. I know she said nopony can replace me as her assistant, but...am I just her assistant nowadays? And no longer her friend?"
Spike continued to cry when he then picked up his head and was started at who was in front of him. Fluttershy was standing by the door looking sad as she walked to Spike and said "Oh my. Spike, are you feeling ok?"
Spike rubbed his eyes as he then tried to put on a smile and said "Y-yeah, I'm ok. Just...had something in my eyes."
Fluttershy then gave a deadpan look, clearly not buying Spike's story. "Was that something happened to be tears Spike?"
Spike then sighed. Knowing he was already caught by Fluttershy. She then sat next to him and said "Do you wanna talk about it Spike? You know I'm here for you if you need a friend."
Spike then sniffed as he said "Are you really my friend? Or is it because I know Twilight you care?"
Fluttershy then jumped back in confusion and shocked as she said "What? S-Spike, why would you say that? Of course your my-"
"Even though I'm a dragon?"
Fluttershy then gulped and her eyes shank in fear. "H-How did you-"
"Twilight told me the reason why you didn't come with us to see the dragon migration. She said you were so scared that you stomped on Rainbow dash, jumped out the window, and took off to the everfree forest."
Fluttershy then gulped as he described everything that happened that day. Spike stood up as he said "Do you know how it felt when I heard that? I thought you were excited to get to know me, And didn't see me as a monster. Not only did I felt like I didn't belong in equestria, but one of the only ponys who I thought was interested in me was actually terrified of me!...it really broke my heart Fluttershy."
Fluttershy then felt her heart crack and shatter. She didn't mean to hurt him like that. Sure, she was afraid of dragons, but she didn't mean to hurt him like that.
She then wrapped him in a hug and had the strength of Pinkie pie as she began to cry out, "Spike, I am so sorry! I didn't mean for you to hear that! It's true I have a fear of dragons. But I'm not afraid of you! Your a amazing dragon Spike, but...I know words are not enough to make it up to you."
Spike then looked as Fluttershy, who was thinking and had a idea, saying "If your not busy right now, would you like to spend the day with me? I know you probably wouldn't like to spend time with a dragon hater like myself, but-"
Spike looked in shock as he said "Fluttershy, I never called you a dragon hater. You just have a fear of them. It just broke me heart because I thought you actually wanted to be my friend."
"But I DO want to be your friend Spike! Your the only dragon I'm not afraid of!" Fluttershy knew that simple words wouldn't do it. But a act might do it. "Spike, if I was afraid of you, would I do this?"
Fluttershy then surprised Spike by kissing him on the lips. Spike's mind went blank as he felt the warm embrace of her lips on his.
Fluttershy then slowly away, but realized what had happened. She then blushed like crazy as she said "Eep! I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have kissed you without asking! I-I just wanted to prove that-"
Spike blinked a few times before shaking his head and said "I-It's ok Fluttershy. I didn't mind. B-But...you kinda took my first kiss."
Fluttershy blushed and began to feel guilty as she said "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take your first kiss. I just wanted to show you that I'm not afraid of you. And now I took your one and only first kiss like it was nothing."
Spike then walked over next to Fluttershy as he rubbed her back to comfort her and said "Don't worry Fluttershy, it was in the heat of the moment. At least my first kiss was from somepony I know, right?"
Fluttershy blushed as she said "Let's ummm...pretend it never happened. You deserve your first kiss to be special, since your a special dragon after all."
Spike rolled his eyes, but respected her wish as she then asked "Well, about what I asked you earlier, did you want to spend the day with me? I do have some things to take care of at my place, if you want to come along."
Spike then blinked as he then began to think. This was it, this was his chance to make a connection with Fluttershy. To have a real friend of his own that wasn't just wasn't by Twilight. Spike wasn't gonna let this opportunity slip by and lose a friend. So he said, "Sure Fluttershy, let's spend the day together."
Fluttershy smile with glee as she said "Oh that great! Let's get going." Spike followed Fluttershy as he closed the castle to spend the day, and hopefully make a friendship with her of his own.
After arriving at Fluttershy's Cottage, Spike saw Fluttershy's animal friends out and about near the cottage, both big and small, playing and napping in her yard. He smiled that the animals here had a good home with her. Fluttershy opened the door as she said "Please come in Spike."
Spike then went into the house and saw it was a bit messy. Animal shedding on the floor, carrot droppings scattered around (probably thanks to Angel bunny), and the cottage was a big mess all around.
Fluttershy blushed at the state of her cottage as she said "Oh, parten the mess, I've been meaning to clean up around here. But with the all friendship missions, and taking care of the animals, it's been hard to have time for myself."
Spike looked around as Fluttershy looked in the pantry and said "Oh hairballs, I don't have any tea."
Fluttershy then looked at Spike and said "I'm so sorry, Spike. But I'll have to go to the market and buy some more tea. I'll be back, but please, make yourself at home."
Fluttershy then galloped on to the market as Spike played the last words in his mind. 'Make myself at home, huh?' He then looked around and saw the mess of the cottage and said,'It might be Twilight's influence talking, but this place needs some organization. Plus, Fluttershy DID say she needed some help, so...'
Spike then began to clean up the inside by sweaping up the discarded carrots and putting them in the recycling bin outside. Then, he cleaned up all the shed the animals left behind while being in the cottage.
Spike felt like he was on a roll as he then cleaned up the kitchen and the upstairs hall. He then headed outside to see Fluttershy's shed and saw a note on the door as it said,
Please stay out of my shed.

While Spike wanted to see what was inside the shed, but decided not to invade her privacy as he then went inside to see another shed near by. This one was Fluttershy's food stofor the animals. And...it was kinda disorganized.
Spike at first was kinda overwhelmed by the size of the mess, but then, he began to notice something. 'The sacks, those containers, this is kinda like organizing stuff in the old golden oak library. If I can do that with Twilight's help, I can fix this mess for Fluttershy.'
It takes a while, but Spike organizers Fluttershy's shed in reacod time. By the time he was done, Fluttershy was walking to the side of her cottage, looking for Spike. "I'm so sorry I took too long Spike. Ms.Greenleaf was having trouble looking for my-"
Fluttershy looked inside the shed and was left in shock at how clean and organized it was now. "Oh my. It looks so clean in here. Was this your doing Spike?"
Spike then gave a proud grin and puffed up his chest in pride and said "Yep! I organized all the food for the animals from the herbavores to the carnivores. I also cleaned your cottage extremely well. Well, except your bedroom and your other shed. I wanted to respect your privacy."
Fluttershy didn't know what to say. She then when and looked inside her cottage and saw that he was right. Her living room was spotless, she pantry was organized and in order, and her study was like the first day she moved in. She then felt bad she let the room for her animals use. Even now, they don't even use it as much anymore. She would have to change that.
But Spike, out of the kindness of his heart, not only cleaned her house in record time, but also organized her food she'd so neatly. And what has she done? 'Oh, Fluttershy. Even though you afraid of dragons, Spike still cleaned your house AND you food shed out of kindness. And what have I done for him?'
Fluttershy then look at Spike and came to a realization. 'All this time. I've been getting closer with the others, closer to other ponys, I even got closer with Discord recently. But what about Spike? I've been avoiding him. All because of a dumb fear. Well, not anymore! I'll be a true friend to Spike from now on!'
Fluttershy then wrapped a hoof around Spike and hugged him as she said "Oh Spike, thank you for everything you did. It was real sweet, but you MY guest. I should be the one making you feel comfortable. Not the other way around. Though, I guess I haven't been a good host at first, but that changes now."
Fluttershy then walked over to the door and said "Wanna come inside? I have the tea with me now."
Spike smiled as he said "That sounds nice Fluttershy. I'll be happy to join you." As he walked inside with her to enjoy some tea.
After Fluttershy made the tea and set up everything set up, she then tried to figure out what to talk about with her young dragon friend. However, since the two of them don't hang out as much as she did with the others, she didn't know what to talk about.
So, she decided to ask him, "So, how was life before you moved to Ponyville? I know you and Twilight lived in cantrlot, but did you two do anything else besides study?"
Spike chuckled at Fluttershy's question as he said "Well, yeah. Twilight has always been kinda obsessed with learning about new things. But, she dose have other things she likes that I like too."
"Oh? Like what?"
Spike then began to think about what he and Twilight did in their younger days, till one particular memory came to mind. "Well, there is ONE thing me and Twilight did sometimes did back in cantrlot, but haven't done since."
"Oh? What is it?"
"It's umm...s-singing."
Fluttershy smiled sweetly as she said "Oh? You sing too Spike?"
Spike smile as he said "Oh, yeah! Twilight and I would do duets together all the time to practice for music class. Sometimes we would sing for fun too!"
Fluttershy giggled as she saw Spike's excitement talking about the memories. She then had a idea on how to get close to Spike. "Spike, I know that I get nervous singing in front of others, but...Would you like to sing with me?"
Spike's tail wagged a bit as he said, "Sure! I wouldn't mind!"
Fluttershy smiled as she walked over to her stereo, found a song perfect for this moment, and put it in to play.
Fluttershy then began to clear her throat, as she began to feel the rhythm of the music.
I've always been the kind of mare, that hid my face. So afraid to tell the world what I've got to say. But I have this dream, bright inside of me. I'm gonna let it show, it's time to let you know. To let you know!
Fluttershy then began to get into more of the song as Spike began to sway to the music.

As Fluttershy sang, Spike then saw a certain sparkle in her eyes that shined while singing. He's never seen her like this, and...he liked seeing this side of her.
Do you know what it's like to feel so in the dark? To dream about a life, where you're the shining star? Even though it seems like it's too far away, I have to believe in myself, it's the only way!

Spike, at this ponit, was swaying to the music. He wanted to join, but wasn't sure if he should. But, something was telling him to join her. So, throwing caution to the wind, he jumped in with Fluttershy.

As Soon as Spike joined in, he and Fluttershy began to sing in harmony together. Like if they can feel each other on the same page. This gave Fluttershy more confidence then ever as they sang.

Spike and Fluttershy then laughed in happiness when the song faded out. But Fluttershy spotted a frown on his face that he tried to hide. It concerned her as she asked "Spike? Are you feeling ok?"
Spike sighed as he realized that he let it slip out. He didn't want to bother her with his own problems. Fluttershy however, was determined to hear him out and said, "Spike, I can tell somethings bothering you. Please tell me. I'll hear you out."
Spike looked away from Fluttershy as he rubbed his arm softly. He wondered what Fluttershy would say if he told her this. 'Well...I DID want to get closer to her as a friend, right?'
Spike sighed as he said "Ok. Well, you know how much more busier Twilight's been since she became a princess, right?"
Fluttershy nodded slowly as Spike continued to explain and said "And you know that she left for the Princess summon today in cantrlot, right?"
Fluttershy nodded nervously as she said "Oh yes. With the leader of the griffins, right? I just glad I wasn't asked to go with her. Griffins scare me after Gilda terrified me last time."
Spike nodded as he remembered Gillda scaring him that day as well. "Well, normally, I always go with Twilight to help her and the Princess with basic tasks. Like getting coffee, a snack, stuff like that. But this time...Twilight said no. She-She didn't want my help anymore."
"Now I know that's not true." Fluttershy said In a surprise stern tone, catching Spike off guard. "I know for a fact Twilight wanted you to go. In fact, yesterday, she showed up to ask if I knew anyway to calm a griffin from their anger. Course, I don't know the first thing of calming down a raging griffin."
"Well...it wasn't just this time." Spike said in a sadden state, but kinda happy Twilight tried to get him to come with her. "This has been going on around the time we get to ponyville."
Fluttershy looked confused as Spike began to explain. "Well, in the beginning, while she was glad she started to make friends, she and I still were still pretty unseparable. Even when I would go and be with Rarity sometimes, she would snuggle me to make up for us being separated for so long."
Fluttershy giggled as she heard this. She never took Twilight to be such a clingy mare before. But not she can see her hugging Spike tightly like a filly hugging her doll. It was precious in her eyes.
Spike sighed as he then got to the heart of the problem. "Well, as more time passed, she's been hanging out with you guys more. And eventually, I became more and more like a glorified house sitter. Yeah, I'm still her assistant and all, but...when was that last time it was Twilly and Spikey time?"
Spike then hugged his knees as he began tear up. "It's like...you girls are replacing me as her friends. And, I don't have any friends of my own. I just feel so...alone."
Fluttershy, as if on instinct, hugged Spike in her embrace, feeling terrible for Spike. "... Well, I'm don't think we're replacing you as Twilight's friend Spike. But, if you want. I can be your friend Spike. I know I wasn't treating you like a friend, but that's gonna change from now on."
Spike smiled as he returned the hug to Fluttershy. He then felt something he hadn't felt in a long time. Sibling affection. Or at least something similar to that from Fluttershy he hadn't felt in a long time.
Fluttershy looked outside and saw that it was already getting dark out. "Oh my. It's really getting late out. You can't walk back to town this late."
Spike looked out and saw that the sun setting. But he didn't look worried. He then said to Fluttershy, "It's ok Shy, I can walk back. I-"
"Oh no you don't. By the time you get back to town, till be dark out. And no friend of mine's gonna get stuck out in the dark." Fluttershy then thought about it and had a idea. "I know! You can sleep over. I have a spare bedroom you can...oh, wait. I need replace the curtains in there."
Fluttershy then stomped her hoof as she then remembered something. "Oh, I just remembered! I actually DO have a extra bedroom you can use. Follow me Spike."
Spike followed Fluttershy to her shed. Spike then looked confused as he asked, "Your shed? But I thought you didn't want anypony in your shed."
"True. I don't let anypony in there. Not even Angel bunny or the other animals are allowed in...but, you Spike. Your the only other pony-er,dragon-I'll allow inside."
Spike gasped in surprise. He definitely wasn't expecting this to happen. "R-Really?!"
Fluttershy nodded as she covered Spike's eyes with her wing and said "No peaking Spike. Wait till we get inside."
Spike nodded as he only saw yellow fetters in front of him. After taking a few steps and hearing the door close, Fluttershy then said to Spike, "Now keep those eyes closed. I wanna show you a surprise."
Spike covered his eyes as he waited for Fluttershy to give him the signal to uncover his eyes for the surprise. As he was waiting, he smiled as he was bonding with Fluttershy. This was exactly what he wanted to achieve.
"Ok Spike. Open your eyes now." Spike uncovered his eyes, as he was surprised at what he saw. All round the inside of the shed, was posters of rock bands, electric guitars, drums, speakers, and the shed's inside seem to have been sound proofed too. "Well?"
Spike then looked at Fluttershy and saw her in a completely different look then she normally wore. Wearing a black top, torn pants, cyan warmers,clip on piercings, black boots, and her mane was stylishly messy like a rockers mane. That's when it clicked with Spike. "Your a rocker Fluttershy?!"
Fluttershy nodded nervously and said "I've never told anypony, except Rainbow dash this, but I really love rock and roll music. It's a way I can release stress and I can cut loose. I hope this isn't too much of a shock for you Spike. But I trust you with this and I was hoping...would you like to join me in rocking out sometimes?"
Spike could only blink at what he saw. He never thought that out of all ponys, Fluttershy, would be a rock and roll fan. He then looked to the table and saw a familiar album. "Whoa. Your a fan of linken pony too?!"
Fluttershy blinked as a big smile formed on her face as she excitingly said "Wait, your a linken pony fan as well?!"
Spike nodded as Fluttershy hugged in tightly and said "Ooooh I'm so excited! Rainbow dash doesn't have enough time to go with me to linken pony concerts anymore since becoming a wonderbolt. But now I have another linken pony buddy to go with!"
Fluttershy then pulled out a pair of tickets and said "I have a pair of tickets to their concert in Manehattan next week. Wanna go together?"
Spike happily nodded and said "Oh yes yes YES! I would love to go with you Flutters!" Spike then hugged Fluttershy tightly in happiness and said "Oh Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!! This'll be a awesome concert! Twilight never took me to one with all of her studying. But now I can with you! Thank you Fluttershy!"
Fluttershy then blinked slowly and said "Twilight never took you a concert? That's kinda hard to imagine since she loves to sing. Then again, with all her studying she dose."
Fluttershy then said "Spike, I'm gonna write a letter to Twilight to let her know your staying with me tonight. Can you send it for me?"
Spike nodded in agreement. He felt a tingle of sadness, remembering that Twilight was at the summons without him. But that was quickly replaced with excitement with getting to spend time with Fluttershy like this.
Fluttershy then finished the letter and said "Ok Spike, it's ready." Fluttershy handed the letter to Spike as he said "Great. Hopefully she's still near Princess Celestia to get it."
Spike then blew his magic fire and the letter turned into magic ash as it was then on it's way to the princesses summons. Once it was sended, Spike and Fluttershy then began to rock out to a few songs together in Fluttershy's shed before dinner.
After dinner, Spike was about to head to bed as Fluttershy then said "Spike? I know your probably a bit too old for this, but...would you like to sleep with me in my bed today?" Spike blushed a bit from embarrassment, but nodded yes in agreement. As he got on the bed and cuddled in her embrace, Spike had a feeling this week of fun and bonding was only beginning.
Later, in Cantrlot
As the sun was lowering down in the horizon by Princess Celestia, she and Twilight were walking around in the royal castle after dinner. Twilight then said "That was a good dinner Celestia. Your veggie stew was as delicious as always."
Celestia smiled as her former student was giving her praise. Not that she needed it, but it made Twilight happy to do it, so she wouldn't saw anything. "Thank you Twilight. I'm always happy to cook for you and my fellow princesses."
Twilight smiled as she then said "I guess we're gonna need all of our strength for tomorrow when we talk to the leader of the griffins tomorrow, huh?"
Celestia then gave a confusing look as she said "Twilight. I think you got your dates confused. The meeting of the griffins leader was last week. This week, we're going to be meeting with Queen Novo of the seapony/Hippogriff's."
Twilight's eyes then blinked in fear. "Ohhh no! T-That can't be! I triple checked the list! Did I use the wrong one?! Ohh now what?!"
Celestia then placed a hoof onto Twilight's back and said "Please calm down Twilight. It's possible I sended you the wrong reminder. There's nothing to-"
"You don't understand! I had to leave Spike behind because I thought the leader of griffins was coming here. And you know how much they hate dragons, and-"
Before Twilight could continue, they saw a familiar puff of smoke come flying in the window. It flew in front of Celestia, and materialize into a letter with Fluttershy's cutie mark as the stamp holder.
Celestia held it with her magic as she said "Oh, lt looks like you got a letter Twilight."
Twilight then saw Celestia's face and gave a deadpan look and said "PLEASE don't sing that song aga-"
"We just got a letter. We just got a letter. We just got a letter. I wonder who it's from?"
Twilight groaned as Celestia as she finished the song. She may be one of the rulers of equestria, but she still acts like a silly filly when nopony's around. And, despite being a grown mare, Celestia offen still treats her like a foal sometimes. And for the life of her, she can't imagine why.
Celestia then gave her the letter and said that she'll be staying in her old room during the summons. Since the royal suite she usually stayed in was still getting cleaned up.
Twilight blushed, as she remembered she and Spike were doing a improve experiment out of curiosity. It basically made the whole room into a sticky mess.
So, Twilight brought her luggage to her old room. And it seemed like it was a little dusty and hadn't been touched in years. In fact, she still sees the book of equestrian legends still opened on the chapter of the elements of harmony. 'Wow, how time flys, huh?'
She looked around and spotted her old reading desk and sat of the chair. A bit smaller since her ascension, but it worked. She opened the letter as she read it.
Dear Twilight,
I hope your trip to cantrlot was ok. I just wanted to let you know that I invited Spike to my place today, and we had a lot of fun. I felt bad that I never gave him a chance to be a friend since...you know, he's a dragon. That was silly of me to think, and i apologized for that. Spike is actually a real good helper around here. He cleaned up my cottage, and organized the food for the animals as a surprise for me. I was truly touched.I really wanna ask him to help out when I eventually open my animal sanctuary in the future. But that's besides the ponit. After that, Spike and I had tea and we sang a duet together. He's such a good singing voice. Anyway, I'm writing to let you know that, Spike will be staying in my place tonight, so he won't be walking in the dark all by himself. I hope the princess summons is successful. See you in a week.

Twilight blinked as she readed the letter. She was glad Spike was ok, but, she then felt a sting of...jealousy? 'No, that can't be right. The princess of friendship CAN'T get jealous...right? But...singing together. That's me and Spike thing!'
Twilight then shook her head and said "You can make it up to Spike when you get back Twilight. Let's just focus on summons for now."
Twilight then headed to bed as she tried to think about the summons. But it didn't matter how much she tried, her thoughts would always return to her little brother. Little did she know, that this was only the first day.
Author's Note
First of all. I know what your thinking. "Didn't Queen Novo first appeared in the mlp movie and this takes place in season 5?"
Well, I wanted to originally use the leader of the griffins, but he didn't have much of a character. So, I decided to use queen Novo as a substitute of sorts. Although, she won't play a roll in this story, let's just say the events where Twilight and her friends already met her.

So, I know that Spike and Twilight's lost connection has a similar concept, but this one will be more similar to another story that seems to be missing. Called Spike snuggles everyone. Do you guys remember that story? Well, I'm combining that story with the episode "What about Discord?"

Twilight, so bright
In the peaceful land of Equestria, ponys and other creatures live together in peace and harmony. And among all those living in Equestria, Friendship is treasured above highly valued among the creatures who live in the land. And Equestria is ruled by four princesses who valued friendship more then anything.
One of those princesses, Twilight sparkle, used to see friendship as unnecessary. But even when she would study alone in her tower, there was at least one companion that was always by her side.
Spike. The young dragon, who she hatched from a egg herself, had trained to become her number one assistant at the age of eight. Since then, he and Twilight had been inseparable.
By the time he was twelve and she was sixteen, they had developed a bond that no pony could duplicate. While the normal study, eating, and occasional test would come about. But they also have other activities that they do together when study time is over.
"Twilight. Twilight~ hey Twilly." Spike kept calling her as she was absorbed in reading one of the books that laid in their dorm. He then poked her gently on her shoulder to get her attention and- "Yaaaaaah!"
Twilight jumped out of her chair, and fell on the floor. Scared from the poke her assistant gave. "Spike! What the hay?! I was in the middle of-"
"It's Friday night Twi! And you know what that means!"
Twilight looked at the clock on the wall and saw it was seven a clock. She then smiled as she said "I'll pop the popcorn and grab the grape soda, you get our blankets."
Twilight went to their private kitchen as she popped a bag of popcorn and two bottles of soda, while Spike grabbed their blankets. They sat down on the couch as Twilight opened a DVD case and put it in the player. They saw the TV show come to life as the both said "THE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MARE!"
Twilight may not look it, but she's a closet comic geek. Thanks to her older and younger brother, she became a comic book fan when she found a Spider-mare comic in Shining armor's room. She became hooked on comics ever since.
After bench watching Spider-mare, Spike then asked Twilight, "Want some of my special Smores Twi?"
Twilight smiled as she licked her lips as she said "Must you ask? Mmmm! I love your smores!"
Spike then got some marshmallows, cooked them with his fire breath to a golden brown, put some chocolate on the gram crackers, and sprinkle some cereal in the marshmallow.
Twilight smiled as Spike gave her one of his signature "Dragon smores", as she called them, and her mouth melted into a smile. "Mmmmmm~ Spike, this might be one of your best batches yet!"
Spike gave a cheeky smile as he said "Thanks Twi! I've wanted to use fruity flacks so they could look like gems a dragon would eat."
Twilight giggled as she said "You know what's great with smores? Sparkles special hot chocolate!"
Spike waged his tail as the thought of tasting the special hot chocolate on his tongue as he said "Mmmm~ I would love some! Come you make us some Twi? Please?"
Twilight's heart melted as she saw Spike's eyes, wanting for some of her family's special hot chocolate. She mixed the milk with a pack of her family's special chocolate blend and heated the mixture with a weak fire spell she had.
They enjoyed their hot coco while reading one of Twilight's storybooks on Equestrian legends. While Spike loved comics, he also loved reading about the legends of Equestria. About all the adventures the heroes had, to even how times had changed from then and now.
While Spike snuggled next to Twilight, he began to hum a tune that was in his mind. Twilight began to hear the melody he was playing, smiled at the small dragon, and said, "Spike, are you humming what i think your humming?"
Spike nodded and said, "Yep. "Beauty and the beast. " Spike then gave a sad smile and said "I can honestly relate to the beast in the story...since most ponys in cantrlot think I'm a-"
Twilight grabbed him with her magic and hugged the little Dragon tight, as she said "Spike, I don't see you as a beast. Your my little brother, my best friend. Besides, those snobs in the cantrlot elite don't know how special you really are."
Spike smiled, knowing her big sister is trying to comfort him. But was glad to hear her say that. However, another looming thought crossed his mind. "Twilight? You'll be going back to school next week, right?"
"Yep. I'll be in a new school with higher difficulty of learning. But that makes the challenge of learning more fun!" Twilight said, clearly excited about the new semester of her classes.
"Well..." Spike started nervously, not sure how to start this. "A-Are you still gonna need me? Like, your not gonna get a better young dragon that's smarter, stronger, and knows what's in those books...are you?"
Twilight then gave the young dragon a confused look and asked "What? Spike, what are-"
"And...what if you start making pony friends? You wouldn't want a baby dragon following you around embarrassing you." Spike began to break out into tears as he continued to said,"You'd want me to go away and never return, and I'd never get to see you again. I'll be all alone, with no friends. PLEASE DON'T MAKE PONY FRIENDS TWILIGHT!"
Twilight at this point had her eyes tilled down, hiding in her bangs. She then softly spoke and said "Spike..." She then revealed her eyes, wet from her tears and said "Your talking about the impossible! I would NEVER replace you! And if anypony tried to take you away, they would have to go though me! NOPONY is gonna take you away from me!"
Spike smiled softy as Twilight continued to say "And as far as "Making pony friends" is concerned, I don't have time for that. There's new things to learn and study. Besides, I already have the best friend/ number one assistant ever! NOPONY can ever replace you Spike."
Spike smiled and hugged Twilight tightly as she returned the embrace. Still worried about him, Twilight then said "Spike, do you wanna sleep in my bed tonight?"
Spike nodded as the two of them climbed into bed, turned off the light, and snuggled in each other's warm embrace. Spike felt happy that Twilight wanted him, and felt that nothing could tear them a part.
However, not everything is set in stone, as this young dragon learns to make connections with others. While the unicorn is remained to cherish her oldest connection. Even after years later.
