A Shadow and Wonderbolt Romance

Chapter 3: Reunion

The night has fallen over Canterlot, and everypony that has an invitation is on there way to the Masquerade Ball that is being held there.  There are many ponies of all types: there are unicorns, earth ponies and even pegasi.

Soarin was amazed by the sight, even if he has already been to Canterlot at least a dozen times.  While he is walking towards the front gate, he took a quick peak at his reflection in a small fountain.  "Rarity sure did a good job."

He is wearing a fancy red top outlined by gold trims which also hides his cutie mark and his mask resembles a lion.  He is even wearing a red hat along with it a blue feather.  "Good thing I chose red, blue with gold would have ponies thinking I'm with the Wonderbolts."

After he was done, he then walks up to the gate and handed one of the guards his ticket that Rarity have given him out of the goodness of her heart.  He continues inside and see so many ponies that all of Equestria is at the party.  He then starts for his search for Rainbow Dash. [i"]Should not be to hard, I mean how many ponies have a rainbow mane and tail."

After about an hour, he was about to give up when he hears some cheering and when he turns around, he sees them: The Shadowbolts.  He counts twelve, the same number of Wonderbolts and he heard about all the members.  But he is only looking for one.  He then spots her, she is beside whom he assume is the captain.  "She is more wonderful then ever, now I just need to get close to her and talk to her."

He then looks around and an idea comes to him, he is going to ask her to have a dance with him.  After all the introduction of the Shadowbolts, they then went towards a section of the place and Soarin follows them into the place.  Before he could do anything, they first went into some dressing room, one seems to be for mares and the other is for stallions.  After some time, Soarin then notices that the Shadowbolts walking out of the locker rooms when suddenly he sees Rainbow Dash.

She is wearing a rainbow themed dress that covers her cutie mark and flank, it has grey clouds at the edges, her wings can be seen, and her mane is in a ponytail.

Soarin had to use every part of his will power to keep his jaw from dropping.  "She is amazing, he shaked his head and said "Keep it together, remember why I'm here."

So then he walked towards her and he sees Dash talking to a mare.  He gets close enough to hear them but not for them to notice him.  As soon when he is close enough, he hears the other mare say "So Dash, find any good stallions here yet?"

Dash laugh and said "Very funny Midnight, if I had a choice though I'll dance with any stallion other then Shade."

The mare, whom Soarin now knows is Midnight said "Well now better find one fast, I can see Shade coming."

Soarin then looks over to where Midnight is pointing and could see who he assumes is Shade.  Shade is wearing what Soarin thinks looks like a black pirate coat and he is even wearing a black hat with a white feather.  Soarin then decides now is the perfect time to ask her.  He then walks up to her and says "Excuse me miss, may I have this dance?"

Dash is at first surprised but then thought "Ok now either I'm lucky, or this is just the perfect excuse to get away from Shade." "Yes you may." Dash said

Then Both Soarin and Dash went on to the dance floor and a slow song starts to play.  Both of them started to dance in silence for some time now until Dash says "Thank you sir, I thought I would have to spend the entire night with Shade."

Soarin then decided to ask about this Shade "So you don't like Shade?"

"Its more like I despise him, all he does is flirt with me and never once tried to be my friend, he may just want me for something else."

"This Shade seems to be like a creep."

"More like a creeper, all he cares about is himself and no other pony, like one day when we were done with a show, he is the first in line to get his picture taken.  He even ask if I want to join him."

"Wow, this Shade character sounds like Prince Blueblood." "So, I'm guessing you have eyes set for another stallion?"

Dash again gets a surprise look and said "Maybe, why?"

"Just curious, and this other stallion tell me about him."

"Wait a minute why are you asking me all this?"

"I just thought I should be a gentlecolt and help you.  You see I was nearby you and your friend when you two were talking to each other."

"Well then, thaks for that." she then bit her bottom lip and says "Well, this other stallion that I like and maybe have a crush on is another pegasi and he is amazing, me and him went to the same school together and he is funny, charming, cool and is willing to listen when you have a problem.  He is always staying in shape, sometimes Fluttershy had to pull him down just to get him to rest." while she continues talking, Soarin thinks "Wow, that is what she thinks of me.  Part one down now for the next part."

"Excuse me, do you want to take this conversation into the gardens somewhere?"

Dash at first thinks about it and said "Sure, I'm not to big on dancing."

So then both Soarin and Dash walked out the doors that leads to the gardens.  And after they walked outside, Soarin led Dash to a bench and when she sat down Soarin then says "So then miss Dash, what would you say if I told you that I know this stallion."

Dash the gets a surprise look on her face and said "I'll think you are crazy."

"And that he is here at this party."

Dash then says "If he is here then where is he?"

Soarin then does the unthinkable: he takes off his hat and then Dash's eyes gets  a bit wider and then after Soarin took off his mask, a moment of silence passes by until Dash then jumps at Soarin and hugs him.  Before Soarin can do anything, Dash then smacks him and said "That is for tricking me."

Soarin then gets a sad look on his face until Dash holds his head in her hooves and said "And this is athanks for coming."

Soarin could not describe the feeling that went through him when the one thing he was hoping for happen: Rainbow Dash kissed him on the lips.

At first he was surprise but then he wraps his hooves around Dash and pulled her in close.  Time seem to stand still for both of them until Dash pulls back and said "So Soarin, how about we leave this party and spen some time together."

Soarin smiles and said "Of course milady."  Both of them then laugh while walking away.

Unknown to both of them, a pair of eyes was watching them and saw everything.
