Chapters Sunset Shimmer's Anime-tion
1. Evacuation Preparation
Author's Note
Before I start going into character, I'd like to first advise and let you know in advance that chances are I'll most likely have to re-rate this because of what may come in the next chapters that I intend to write.
As such, one thing I should especially mention is that having done some research and finding characters that I consider my favorites from main to background, I found quite a lot of anime characters that I felt like using.
Now, mind you, I'm not a fan of Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh like I used to be, let alone Dragon Ball Z either.
Who I decided to use is my own choice and not yours. If you can't accept that, then don't bother reading this story or the chapters that I write.
Anyway, another thing that I should mention is that I'm basing this first chapter of what happened during and after the atrocity of Hurricane Milton in October of 2024, with a couple of references to add of course.
Enjoy!
1. Evacuation Preparation
Although it was a bright and sunny week in early October, news and weather reports on every TV screen in the houses of our heroes, the Rainbooms, have brought troubling and disturbing news of a category 5 hurricane coming from the western coast of Canterlot City.
During the morning announcements at one point at the beginning of classes at CHS, Principal Celestia had also advised that the school would be closed because of the incoming hurricane.
Within moments of receiving the news upon their arrivals home, everybody began preparing for evacuation by packing only essentials: clothes, schoolwork, first-aid supplies, water, rations, and only what's necessary. Other citizens of Canterlot City were making plans for going into basements, while those were lucky enough to have a backup generator or solar panels to keep the power running in the event of a failure.
Shelters were of another requirement for evacuees, as some were going to be erected out of CHS, gymnasium, other school gymnasiums, churches, community centers, and synagogues.
Those who were going to take charge of the shelters were waiting for the go-ahead to take action and begin setting up.
As for Sunset Shimmer herself, she felt very uneasy and on edge about this. Normally she didn't mind the rain, nor her adoptive mother, Principal Celestia, and her aunt, Vice-Principal Luna, but she was getting more nervous and scared about it. Snowdrop, who was also adopted by Celestia, could sense that Sunset was getting more scared, so their mom came to see her.
"Are you okay, my little sun?" she asked, feeling very concerned.
Sunset tried to answer, but all she could get out was, "M-m... Mom, I-I-I..."
It became evident to Celestia that Sunset was too afraid to speak, given that she was feeling very shaky. So Celestia stepped forward, sat on Sunset's bed, and just wrapped her arms around her adopted daughter.
"Shh...." she said, rubbing her hands on her back. "There, there... I'm here." Sunset found herself calming down, but only a little, as she was still feeling very shaken up. Just then, Vice-Principal Luna walked in and joined them a moment later.
"Don't be scared, Sunset," said Vice-Principal Luna as she lovingly caressed Sunset's hair out of comfort.
Sunset found herself calming down more, but still not completely.
"We know how you feel, but we'll get through this, and so will you."
"B-b-b-b-but... but how...?" asked Sunset, trying not to sound afraid and keep calm.
"We'll all be in a shelter together, as will Snowdrop and your friends. We'll be safe from the storm in there," Celestia told her.
Now, Sunset knew, loved, and trusted her adoptive mother completely ever since she took her under her wing. But somehow, Sunset felt a little tense about going to a shelter and spending days for goodness knows how long, and she found them to be very cramped and claustrophobic.
But Celestia smiled warmly and kept consoling her daughter.
"I have an idea," she said. Before Sunset could ask what her idea was, Celestia and Luna both began to sing together.
As the two sisters sang, despite their different tones in sync, their voices were so soothing, that Sunset found herself calming down so much more. It helped her relax and feel more at ease.
Celestia even told Sunset a story about two tugboats named Theodore and George who helped an oil rig named Tex out of a perilous situation in a horrific storm that swept across the big harbor, which Sunset found very enjoyable and entertaining, as well as a little more helpful.
When she had finished, Celestia said to Sunset,
"As you can see, it's okay to feel scared, but we can't let our fears conquer our minds, otherwise we lose control of what we're thinking, and we can't stay focused. Just like when Theodore had braved that storm to help George prevent Tex from crashing into Benjamin Bridge. Catch my drift?"
Sunset nodded and said with a smile, "Yes, I do." Then she added with a confident smile, "You know something else, Mom?
"What?"
"You're right. We'll all get through this, and I think I'll be okay since my friends will all be there, as will you two and Snowdrop."
"That's my little sun," said Celestia and patted her head. "Now, go on upstairs and keep packing. We have a journey ahead of us, and we need to be ready when the order to evacuate is given."
"I will, and thank you so much, Mom," said Sunset as she prepared to return to her room. "Love you."
"Love you too," Celestia called back.
Once Sunset returned to her room, and before she finished packing, she thought it best to contact Princess Twilight with her journal about what was about to happen.
"Dear Princess Twilight,"
She wrote,
"I know that this is short notice, and I'm sorry that it is, but I need your help. We've received news that the weather is quickly changing, and that a hurricane is headed for Canterlot City in less than a week or so. I don't know how much time we really have, so therefore, in the event that we lose power, and if it's possible, can you please prepare a room for me in your castle?
I want to have a place of backup in case that happens, or if we become stranded while on the way to a shelter.
Please answer ASAP."
Five minutes later, as Sunset Shimmer resumed her packing, Sunset's journal vibrated like her phone as she received a response.
It read,
"Dear Sunset, oh, sweet Celestia, that's shocking news. But yes, I can take an emergency. Say no more, I'll have a room prepared and on standby for you within the hour. Good luck out there, and please stay safe.
--Princess Twilight"
Sunset felt more relieved. After se finished packing her things and only essentials that were necessary, she contacted her friends by text message, asking each of them how things were coming along on their end with their preparations.
Each one of them said
" Blah. Rain is just wet drops that's not in your shower, but it won't stop me!"
" Don't you worry, sugarcube, we'll be ready."
" I feel so nervous, but at least we'll be together. "
" On the contrary, darling, I always come prepared and ready."
" Yeppity-doo-da! I've got my essentials and sweet refreshments!"
" You know it, Sunset.
We'll be there when the storm comes; it doesn't scare me!"
" Hai (yes). The storm will never know what hit it."
Sunset was very pleased that all seven of her best friends, including her girlfriend Fluttershy, were all going to be ready, despite second thoughts, confidence, and how nervous any of them would feel.
However, little did Sunset know that when the storm eventually does hit, she would never arrive at the shelter at all.
But I mustn't say anymore, or I will spoil the next chapter, or the fun...
Sunset Shimmer's Anime-tion
Two days later, as the weekend came, the weather began to change for the worst. All across the city, weather and news reports were going on about the approaching hurricane, and updates on the storms conditions, nonstop.
Although regular television programs were continuing their stationary broadcasts, what made things more startling and worse was the fact that the storm was coming much sooner than expected, and that there were also flood warnings. As a result, many citizens were preparing their houses with sandbags, digging trenches, and doing whatever was necessary to prevent flood water from penetrating their front doors, while the rest were on standby, bags and cases packed and just waiting for the order to evacuate.
At her house, Sunset Shimmer had informed Celestia that she had sent a message to Princess Twilight that she had prepared a room for her in the event of a power outage, or if something happened along the way to the shelter.
Celestia was bewildered at first, but after hearing Sunset out, she was pleased that there was a backup plan that Sunset had made.
As Monday came with dark clouds, it started to rain lightly at first, butnless than half an hour later, it was roaring loudly. All businesses and schools were closed because of the weather, Sunset and her family were watching the news. They saw that the ceiling lights and fan was flickering, so Sunset thought it was only a glitch at first.
============***============
Another 45 minutes later, at the power station, several electricians were all struggling with circuits and breakers, trying to keep the power up as much as possible. They wanted to get out of there fast, so racing against time and abandoning all cautions, their attempts to make repairs and keep systems running were getting worse.
Lights flickered multiple times, and boxes lit up and fizzed like a cigarette lighter.
"Come on! Get those breakers in!" cried one. "Keep them in!" cried another.
But then disaster struck. A lightning bolt struck one of the generators, making it fry like an egg, and the shockwave sent electrical surges that killed all the lights and power, as well as themselves!
Then more trouble brewed. Another lightning bolt hit one of the tall electrical towers, causing electric wires to snap, light like fire, and topple down to the ground.
As a result, the city, except the shelters, lost power, and at Sunset and Celestia's home...
"...I urge all ci--izens -oo e-- a-- uate to the --ear..." everything, even the news broadcasts went dead.
That was their cue.
"Evacuate!" Ordered Celestia.
Sunset, Celestia, Luna and Snowdrop wasted no time, as did Sunset's friends who's power also went dead but followed orders anyway.
Within moments, Sunset and her family were safely in Celestia's car, and they helped Snowdrop into the backseat with Sunset.
Once everybody was safely buckled in, Celestia drove away from their home, and straight headed for the nearest available shelter.
However, as evacuations were taking place and people were leaving, new problems arose. Even as the weather got more worse, several shelters were already filled to capacity, leaving only two available. To make matters more worse, flood waters were already in affect, causing major traffic jams.
As Celestia and her family were passing the school, they suddenly stopped because of a major three-car pileup ahead of the traffic jam in front of them.
Right away, Sunset Shimmer began to feel scared again.
"Mom...?" she asked, trying not to feel afraid or cry.
Celestia turned around and saw what Sunset was beginning to feel. Setting the car in park, she held Sunset's hand for a few moments.
"Just take deep breaths, Sunset," she said, trying not to sound as scared as she was. Before Sunset could respond, or Luna, a police officer tapped on Celestia's window. When she rolled down to speak with the officer, it wasn't good news at all. Afew moments later, after he finished talking to Celestia, she turned to Sunset.
"Sunset, get your bag and your phone," she said. "We're going to be stuck here for a while, so you may as well go to Equestria."
Sunset nodded. Before she did that, she quickly threw her arms around Celestia to hug her, which caught her off-guard at first, but she returned the embrace.
After informing Princess Twilight that she was on her way, Sunset grabbed her umbrella and bag, opened the left rear passenger door and stepped out into the pouring rain.
Just as Sunset approached the monument where the Wondercolt statue once stood, Luna felt something horrible, as if it was a premonition.
Quickly, she got out of the front passenger door on the right.
Before Celestia could ask what was happening, and all she could say was, "What the...?!", and just as Sunset was entering the portal, Luna suddenly shouted, "NO, SUNSET, DON'T!!!"
But it was too late!
Just as Sunset had entered, and was fortunate not to have been hit, a lightning bolt struck the monument, forcing the portal to go completely haywire!
"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" screamed Luna, running to the portal. Falling to her knees, she added in a scream with tears, "NOOOOOOOO-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO...!!!!!"
But somehow, although Sunset was safe and unharmed, she didn't know what was happening, or where she was going. One thing was for sure, though:
She wasn't going to Equestria this time! All she could really do was scream and shout as se swirled and twirled around like ice-cream, expecting this to be a horrible ending!
Sunset shut her eyes, not knowing where she was going to end up!
But I must stop here, or the next chapter will be spoiled...
Sunset Shimmer's Anime-tion
After what seemed like an eternity, Sunset Shimmer's eyes slowly flickered, until she had finally awakened from being spun around in that portal. Her vision was hazy and blurry at first, but it eventually perfected.
"Uhh..." she groaned as she stood herself up. She was lucky not to have been hurt, apart from some bumps and bruises, and dizziness, but it eventually passed.
As she dusted herself off, she got her first shock: here skin was a normal, pale beige color, instead of yellow!
"What the...?" she asked. Then she got another shock. She saw black sleeves meeting her elbows, as if she had rolled them up to wash dishes. When she looked down, she saw that she was wearing black pants, and her shirt was partially yellow, like her skin color in Equestria and Canterlot City.
"What's happened to me?" she gasped. Then she had another alarming thought. "Where in Equestria am I??"
She looked around, trying to find out what exactly where she was.
Although she did calm down, she then realized that she was in some strange town, but there was nobody around.
"Hey..." she said to herself, "not a taxi in sight..." And there wasn't. From what Sunset could make out, it looked as though the entire town was abandoned.
Unsure of what to do, she quickly opened her journal and began writing.
"Dear Princess Twilight,"
She began,
"You're not going to believe this at all, but I'm not in Equestria. I repeat, not in Equestria! I don't know what happened to the portal, but from what I could feel, a lightning strike hit it, and the shockwave sent me into a completely different universe!
I don't know where I am now, but if that wasn't bad enough, my appearance has also changed, too; my skin is completely pale, and I'm not wearing the same clothes!
What's happened, and what do I do?! I'm so scared...
Please respond!
--Sunset Shimmer."
After she had written to Twilight and while hoping for a response from her, Sunset Shimmer decided to look around to see where she was.
From what she could make out as she walked around, it was completely different from Canterlot City, and Equestria.
"Wow..." she said to herself as she looked at each street and building that surrounded her. Slowly, a smile crept over her face. The more she walked, the more amazing it looked from her point of view.
"My mom and friends would like this place," she thought.
But after half an hour, Sunset walked to a nearby bench and sat down. She opened her journal, hoping for a response, but none came.
"Twilight, are you receiving my messages?"
Sunset wrote out of concern and worry.
Another half an hour later, Sunset decided it best to ask someone for help, but she wasn't sure that anyone who would believe her, even if she did ask for help.
As she walked further up the streets and sidewalks, a school caught her eyes, and it had a very mysterious name on it.
The sign read "Oorai High School".
"Huh..." Sunset thought. "That's a strange name for a high school."
Just as she had gone beyond this intriguing, yet mysterious school, Sunset stopped as she felt a mysterious rumble from under her feet, as if an earthquake was beginning to occur.
"What's going on?!" she cried.
As if to answer her question, Sunset looked into the distance, and saw strange dots from up ahead on the street. The closer they got, she saw that they were forming some vehicles that were coming down at top speed!
"YIKES!" shrieked Sunset as she ran out of the way. She got out of the way just in time, too, as the vehicles that were flying down the streets was a Panzer VI, being commanded by five high school girls while being chased by six pursuing tanks, unaware or unsure that it was part of some kind of either a tournament, or some matching game!
As the fleeing tank gave chase and the other six pursued it, Sunset kept running away from what was unfolding.
"Ha!" she laughed as she panted. "You missed me, you missed me!" she sang in a teasing tone, "and you can't catch me!"
But because she was looking back as she fled, she was running so fast that she forgot to watch where she was going!
*BUMP!!!*
She hit the wall of a nearby store, hard.
"Oww..." she groaned as she held her head, and seconds later, she passed out cold from the impact of the brick wall.
There she lay, on her back, unconscious and hurt.
When the tankery match was over and the battered tanks were transported back to where they came from, one of the four girls rushed over to where Sunset was laying.
"Hey, girls, over here!" she called out of concern.
The other four hurried over and they saw Sunset unconscious and hurt.
"Who is she?" asked the second.
"I don't--" began the third, but she abruptly stopped when her memory flashed before her eyes.
"Wait," she said. "I remember! We nearly ran her over when the other tanks were coming down on us!"
"I don't know who she is," said the fourth girl, "but she looks like she needs medical attention."
"Right!" the five girls said all at once. One of them left to get help, while the other four stayed by her side and kept people back.
========***========
The next day, Sunset had slowly awakened again, this time with her vision a little more blurry. Her eyes looked as though she was seeing binary coded numbers, as though she were hallucinating.
"Ohh..." she groaned. "My head hurts..."
"How are you feeling?" asked a strange voice.
As Sunset's vision improved and became less blurry, the first thing that she could see and feel was that she was in a hospital bed because of the sheets covering her body, and the feel of bandages on her head, arms and legs. The next thing that she could see, a teenage girl no older than the Cutie Mark Crusaders, and in what looked like a nurse's cap.
She had pink hair similar to Pinkie's fur, her eyes were as blue as the sky, and she was dressed in what seemed to look like a very dark purple or lavender uniform. It made her look somewhat more like a nun than a doctor.
But Sunset wasn't too concerned, as she found this voice to be very caring and concerning. When her vision improved until it was better, the mysterious figure opened the curtains to her window just a little bit to let in some light.
"Who... what...?" Sunset tried to say. She tried to move, but she could barely lean forward and was too weak because of her injuries.
"Who are you...?" groaned Sunset.
The mysterious figure turned around to face her, so Sunset had a much better look at who this person was.
She smiled gently and she placed a caring hand on Sunset's shoulder.
"I'm a doctor and a repair ship. My name is Vestal," she said kindly.
Sunset's eyes widened. "How can she be a doctor and a repair ship at the same time?" Sunset thought to herself.
But putting that thought aside for a more important one, Sunset asked Vestal, "How long have I been out?" she asked.
"You've been unconscious since yesterday and last night," said Vestal, checking her notes on her clipboard.
Sunset was stunned.
To be continued in chapter 4...
