The walk home was incredibly awkward. Two disheveled teens walking down the night-lit side walks of the suburbs. Occasionally Sunset would look to Flamera to see if she was doing ok. She had tried running off but tripped and fell, so she kept her eyes on her. Her ears were drooped down from her unease. She was keen on staying im the forest till she could revert, but sunset obviously pleaded against it.
“Where are we going?” she asked. Her body language was so awkward, a total 180 from the Flamera she saw at school.
“My loft.” Sunset casually remarks.
Sunset kept walking until she no longer heard the noise of flameras claw nail things on the pavement. Turning around the demon just stared at her with a puzzled look.
“Its midnight they’re probably worried sick??” flamera response with a tinge of panic in her voice
“Give me your phone for a sec.” Sunset replies.
Flamera reaches into her pockets and hands her the phone. Turning it on sunset points the screen at Flameras face to enable face id, letting her into her phone.
“It registers your face in this form?” sunset asked.
“Do I look that different??” flamera say panicked.
“No no no no! I’m just surprised thats all? Seeing as your eyes aren’t even white anymore.” sunset begins to scroll through flameras contacts, pulling up her mothers number. Getting her phone out she copies the number into a new message and hands the phone back to Flamera. She begins to compose the message.
hi this is sunset shimmer, flameras friend
im with flamera and shes im a really bad state of mind right now so im taking her over to my place for the night. hope thats ok!
She nervously hits send.
“I just texted your mom that you’ll be staying with me for the night.” she stops and turns to flamera.
“Is your mom usually asleep by now?” she inquires.
“No shes a night owl. My dad on the other hand goes to bed at 9.”
Sunsets phone vibrates in her pocket.
oh of course!! Did something happen??
Sunset ponders asking Flamera what to, but decided against it to not work her up any further.
quite a bit actually, but i can assure you i am more than understanding of the situation.
me and my friends are aware of her…. magic.
Flamera peered over Sunsets head to read her phone. She was about the same size as the form Sunset took at last years formal so she was easily able to look. The redhead felt her presents and turned around immediately to Flameras surprise.
“I think it’d be best if you didn't think about your parent’s response.” Sunset said scratching her neck.
Flamera’s face contorts into a sad frown. Her fangs dip out of her mouth.
“I’m honestly worried about how they’ll react to me when the time comes.” Sunset admitted bashfully.
“Come on, lets keep walking.”
She switches her messages to the groupchat she has with her friends.
found flamera and im with her now. we’re heading to my place for the night. shes extremely unstable emotionally. I havent asked her about what she is, but all i know is that flash of magic corrupted some part of her.
She hits send and looks to Flamera with a quizzical look. The demons eyes are stuck to the floor as they walk it takes a few seconds for her to realize Sunsets gaze. When she does her eyes widen and she falls into another panicked statement
“Is something wrong?” the demon asks quivering.
“No not at all!! I was just giving the girls an update to the situation.” the authenticity in her voice calms the girl. But its shortly lived before realizing what she said
“Oh…” Flamera’s voice drifts away as she looks to the left.
“They were really worried for you you know….”
“They really shouldn’t have been. They barely know me and I don’t know them besides Twilight and Rainbow Dash cause we share classes together.” she sternly says looking away momentarily.
“That doesn’t mean they weren't concerned for your well being?” Sunset remarks.
Flamera remains silent trying to understand.
her walls are closing in again. I need to get her to open up.
“Flamera?” sunset say with a genuine tone. Her movement halts.
Her sincerity makes Flamera anxiously look at her.
“Please, let me in…..” she pleads.
All Flamera could do was whimper. She was left with no other choice at this point. If she didn’t she would have succumbed to that thing she turned into.
“What…. Are you? How long have you been like this?”
“I-I dont know what I am.” she looks away.
“I only know that i'm a demon. My mother isn't one but my grandfather is.”
“I’ve been able to transform into a demon for the pat 4 years.” her expression is cold yet somber.
“Was it when you started puberty?” sunset asks.
“Mhm, it was as soon as i had my first period. I remember yelling for my mom for some pads only to fall and began heaving out black gunk into the toilet.”
“Like the stuff you threw up back there?” Sunset asks without flinching.
“I threw up??? When?!?” Flamera yells.
“It was right after your mask broke. You were reverting to this form.”
“Oh FUCK…” Flamera stops in place. Her body begins to shake slightly.
“What is it?” Sunset asks putting a hand on the quivering demons arm.
The gears in Flameras head began turning after Sunset said the words “threw up”. Her already heightened anxiety made what was coming inevitable.
“I-its nothing!! I just was surprised thats all!!” she chokes back giving a crooked smile. They continue to walk.
Sunset glances to Flameras nervous face. Her throat was slightly strained.
“Are you trying to not puke right now?”
“NO THATS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN” she screams.
“N-not that the worst thing didnt just happen but regardless.” she straightens up and takes a breath in.
“I have emetophobia which is the fear of vomit/vomiting.” she admits rubbing her arm.
“Oh… I didn’t know that was a thing? ….how’d you get it?”
“I just have a history with vomiting. Any time i did i’d have traces of that black goop in it. I obviously didn’t actively look at other peoples stomach contents so i thought it was the norm until my mom told me what i really was.”
“Shit I had no idea… I’m sorry….”
“Don't be. Just know that if I ever puke in front of you I will go into a panic attack. Ive been through worse clearly” she says very curtly.
Mentally Flamera scolded herself for how passive aggressive that sounded.
…
“How did you first transform?” Sunset asked.
She stopped in her tracks. Her eyes darted over to sunset with a look of fear.
why an i reacting so poorly to a genuine question??? Ive been open about my homelessness before…
but i was always vague wasnt i…?
“Flamera why do you keep stopping?”
She snaps up in response.“Uh, no reason? I couldnt tell you honestly. Besides my overwhelming urge to book it right now.”
“Flamera I promise im not here to judge you. I genuinely care about you. I want to help.”
“Help me with WHAT?!” Flameras tone gets increasingly angrier. The irony in all of this hits her like a truck. Her eye open wide after the realization. Tears threaten to come back. She begins shaking but stops when Sunsets hand grabs her hand. Tears welled up even harder. She had to repress them for now.
“Come on were almost to my place. Its a few blocks away. Im sure it’ll be more comfortable there. I’m sorry for bringing that up.”
“I-its ok” she gives a fake smile.
The rest of the trip was incredibly quiet but lacked the awkward lining. Sunset was fine walking in silence for her sake, and Flamera needed to regain her composure.
After a walking about 4 blocks, they finally reach the building. It was surprisingly tall but on the shorter side. The red haired girl pulled the single key from her pocket and put it in the keyhole unlocking the door. She opens the door letting Flamera enter. Once both were inside she shuts the door behind them.
“Not that I have any issue with you in your demon form, but how long are you stuck in this form?”
“It really depends on my emotions. If I sleep on it I usually wake up in my “half form” ”
“Half form?” Sunset questions.
“I’ll have my tail, ears, fangs and eyes. My body defaults to usually just my tail and eyes on a normal day.”
“But you didnt have it at school? At least from what i saw. Did you have to repress it?” Sunset moves to the couch and Flamera follows suit but more awkwardly.
Flamera rubs the side of her arm. “Yeah unfortunately…I’m just used to it at this point. I’d be doing right now if we weren't alone… and i wasn't stuck looking like a monster”
“Dont call yourself that!” Sunset grabs Flameras hand and leads her to the couch.
“I’m a literal demon though? How do you not see me as one?” Flamera responds as they both sit down.
“Well for starters you certainly aren't acting like one. In fact I think i've never seen you act this…. Docile before?”
“But secondly, I'm from a different world. I just see these things as normal. Especially at this point with me and the girls getting our geodes.”
“So when you look at me you aren't terrified?” Flamera asks.
“No not at all. I honestly think you look pretty cool?”
Flameras cheeks turn bright red
“YOu dO?” she chokes out.
“Theres nothing to be embarrassed about? Rainbow is incredibly fond of you actually.” she chuckles.
“Me and Twilight were actually trying to crack who you were. We have a whole board in her room with all sorts of reports and cryptic sightings of you.”
Flameras cheeks were coated with a faint blush. “How’d you find out it was me? I was able to hear you yell out my name when that magic hit my mask. Did you tell everyone else?” she asks.
“Well we made contact at the fall formal and i used my geode powers to confirm it really was you. Me and Twi came to the conclusion it was probably you.” she responds.
“…what did you see?”
“Only memories that were related, I promise. I kind of figured something like this would happen and I wanted room for you to tell me yourself.”
“Did you want anything to drink?” Sunset offers. She gets up pointing to her relatively small kitchen. It still worked for what it was worth.
“I guess just some water would be nice. I’m not really into soda’s or carbonated drinks.”
“Although with how late it is I doubt id be having one anyways.” she muttered to herself.
Opening her fridge she grabs two water bottles out of it. She closes the door and retreats back to the couch. Tossing it to Flamera she immediately responds by catching it.
“Wow nice catch!” Sunset remarks.
“ Uh.. Thanks, I played softball for a good 3 years.”
“Huh. I honestly wouldnt have guessed?”
“I stopped playing around the time we lost our house for the second time.”
“Lost your house? What do you mean by that.”
Flameras face went blank.
“Shit I never told you did I….”
“Tell me what?”
Flamera looks away like she was just scolded.
“Up until August, I was technically homeless for past 3 years. You can add 3 months onto that from the year before it happened again.”
Sunset opens her mouth in attempt to speak but is cut off by Flamera holding her hand in front of Sunset.
“I know you’re about to say sorry and everything’s moderately ok for the most part.”
“I was…. Expelled from MHS.” her words filled with sorrow.
“I don't regret what I did, but I regret how far I took it.” she looks down at her clawed hards which are held together.
“I was being emotionally abused by someone I held dear. She lied to me every chance she could just to keep me around. She expressed interest in dating and so did I, but every time I instigated dating she’d ignore it. Truth is she was already in another relationship. She said unthinkable things about my friends which simply were lies, but she got under my skin.” Flamera stayed relatively calm explaining but a sudden shift was noticed by Sunset.
“I spent the night with her and slept together in her bed.” she begins quivering.
“I let my guard down. She took photos of my naked body while i was asleep. My tail was out, my ears were pointed…. She sat on those photos for almost a year, then decided that i was no longer of use to her.”
“She posted those photos online for everyone to see, even my fucking parents saw them.
The day after she posted them people were staring at me in the halls. I got to the commons to find her showing these pictures to everyone. Not only had she revealed my secret, but she also defiled my own body and trust.”
The tears immediately started. She took a few moments to resume speaking.
“I couldnt handle anymore. I was sick of hiding, sick of not being loved by anyone.”
“My emotions physically pained by body in a way I never experienced before. I ran up to her and jabbed her right in the face. During my sprint to her I had taken on my demon features without knowing. She decided to retaliate as well but my fury couldnt be matched. I slashed her several times with my claws, I kicked her across the room. I-“
“I was a monster. They had to sedate me just to get me to stop. I was put in a muzzle cause of my teeth and excessive yelling. When they were taking me away she had this smug look on her face. Despite how badly I had injured her she still was satisfied.”
“Then I lost it.” she trembles.
“I broke free from my restraints and ran over to her. I kicked her across the floor as hard as I could.”
“I was at my limit and was about to transform without knowing, which is when i was sedated and knocked out.”
Flameras trembling only worsened.
“i wanted her dead. I was turning into what i feared. A monster” Flamera bitterly says.
She starts sobbing.
“I couldnt even tell you if it was me or the demon in me that made me go ballistic.” she whimpers.
All Sunset could do was look with empathy at the crying demon. In her current state it didnt seem like something she’d ever do. Flamera was brash and bombastic but never violent. The only time she was was a few hour ago after being possessed by equestrian magic.
In between her staggered breathing, sunset pulls the demon into a tight hug.
“I know I’ve apologized a lot tonight but…” her grip tightens.
“I’m so sorry you had to go through that….” she sounds like shes on the brink of tears.
“No wonder why you feel so poorly about your own magic….”
She pulls out from the hug meeting Flameras eyes
“Not that I’m trying to dump you on someone else, but you and Twilight have a lot in common. With your previous backgrounds and stuff.”
Flamera opens her water bottle
“Were her borderlines nudes sent across the entire school?” she says with a slightly bitter tone.
“Well no but, you both went to terrible schools, Twilights magic is obviously a lot less threatening than yours but you both fear it. Well, she used to before me and the girls helped her convince her she wasn't Midnight Sparkle.”
Sunsets phone dings with a notification sound. Picking it up its Flameras mom.
Sorry for the late response, its just a lot to take in. How did you find out? Did she finally tell you?
finally tell me? Has she been meaning to?
She told me about you and your friends having some kind of magic that could be related to her and her grandfathers abilities. She was planning on it but that may have been a lie.
Sunset ponders this for a moment before responding back
id rather discuss this face to face since its such a… serious topic, but when i say im more than understanding of this, i really do mean it. Id need to go into my own personal history to make sense, but to sum it up, i come from a different world where magic exists. my friends and i all have magic of our own from our magical geodes.
She sets her phone down on the couch opposite of where Flamera was sitting.
“Flamera I hate bringing this up but id like to talk to talk to your parents about all this at some point.” her
“No its expected, its like finding a friend of yours came to you about self harm, yet their parents have no idea that its happening”
She jolts up to meet Sunset who’s confused and concerned.
“I..i said that as an example!!” she waves her pointed hands in front of her.
“Ive had a few friends who ive needed to do that for… its not easy at all…” she says rubbing her cheek a little.
Sunsets expression eases up.
“I do need to contact Princess Twilight about this however…” she trails off looking at the direction of her bag which contains the journal.
“Who again? You mean the other Twilight right?” Flamera asks.
Sunset smirks looking to the side.
“Honestly feels weird you saying that since you met our Twilight first.”
“You don't mind if I asks some questions about you magic and shoot some notes off to the Princess would you?” she smiles with a slightly awkward look.
“I guess I don’t have any objections.”
“Great!” she exclaims. She stands up to grab her journal.
She also heads to her dresser to retrieve her pajamas. Returning to the couch she tosses the journal and pen on the cushions.
“You dont mind if I change do you?” holding up her pjs.
“No I don’t care.” she casually says.
Sunset begins to take off her current outfit.
“Maybe its cause of my different anatomy, but i dont see the female body in that light.”
“What do you mean?” Sunset asks grabbing her magenta pants from the couch.
“I just dont see the need to censor something like boobs, or even a girls crotch. Its covered by hair whats even there to look at?”
“Thanks for asking though, I do appreciate it.”
“I wasn’t aware of how comfortable you’d be so I figured I’d ask, even though i left my bra underwear on.” Sunset grabs the journal and her pen.
“Shit I don’t have anything for you t-“ she abruptly stops noticing that Flamera doesn’t actually have any thing on in regards to underwear.
The room is quiet for a brief moment.
“Ok thats my first question i guess, why arent you wearing anything?”
Flameras dark eyes widen in embarrassment as she blushes profusely.
“O-OH SHIT I DIDNT REALIZE-“ she cuts herself off.
“Oh god how do I explain this…” she says to herself.
“Look all you need to know is my privates don’t touch anything I sit on. My legs are covered in thicker fur around the my crotch.” she awkwardly blushes at Sunset with her eyebrows furrowed.
“I think I get it. Creatures in Equestria work similarly. Most ponies dont wear clothing, and i think that applies to every other creature too. Clothes are more of an accessory if anything.”
“I wonder if that has anything to do with your magic?” she grabs her chin
Flamera replies with a long “huh”
“Where ever your demon inheritance came from. It could be related since creatures in Equestira don't need to wear things.”
“I need to write an intro in the journal so Twilight doesn't think i'm writing in the wrong notebook or something.”
“Take your time.” Flamera says
She nods opening the book to the next empty page.
“dear princess twilight,
hi, ill add context to this later. Its extremely important and im sure you’d want to hear it. Wont go into detail but all you need to know is that flamera (the girl ive been helping adjust to CHS) is actually a demon. Thing happened but me and her are both at my apartment right now and i was going to ask her some questions. Ill just write as if this is a notes page.
~ she has the ability to transform into a demon. She looks vaguely similar to when i turned into a demon with some obvious differences
~ her legs are almost animal like. Her height also matches with the form i took at the formal.
~ shes able to breathe fire. She has general pyromancy skills to my knowledge.
~ shes currently unable to revert back into her human form. She told me that its caused by her emotions, and gets worse the more she tries to hold that form back. She mentioned the effect does wear off after an hour or so. i’m about to begin asking her all she knows.
She looks up at Flamera who’s aimlessly scrolling through her phone.
“Ok I’m ready.” the demon attempts to put her phone in her “pocket” before realizing she doesn't have any. A small blush coats her face as she put the device beside her.
With Flameras attention, Sunset begins the “interview”.
“Ok so I guess what i should ask first is…. What exactly are you?”
“Didn’t you already ask that?”
“You didn’t really finish though.” Sunset proclaims.
“Fair point I suppose.” she sighs
“Honestly I don’t know.” she says blankly
“All I know is that i'm part demon. My small family is probably to blame for that.”
“Does that mean that there are people in your family that can transform besides you?” Sunset asks with some enthusiasm in her voice.
“No that would be terrible honestly. It skips a generation. It comes from my moms side.”
Sunset continues to write as Flamera continues on.
“I was told by my mom that they suspected that my brother Cosmic was going to have this due to his….” she stops prompting sunset to look up.
“Lets just say he had some behavioral issues that would normally indicate it…”
“I assume it’s just an assumption based on how fucked up my grandfather is.”
“When did this… all start?” Sunsets tone grew a bit darker, possibly in fear of striking a nerve again.
“I know this might be a sore subject and its fine if you dont want to answer.
She reacted accordingly but doesn’t hesitate to answer the question.
“N..no its fine. Ive already gotten past the stuff that led to this so its fine.” she shifts her position.
“Everything changed for me when i was 12. I think i was supposed to turn 13 a week or two after. I had finally started my period. I called my mom to get me some tampons or whatever from the closet. Before she came I began… vomiting this black liquid. It didnt look like anything that would come out of a normal human. After I finished dying I got up and looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were black and slit like they are now, a tail started to emerge out of my tailbone accompanied by the same black liquid.”
“It felt like a parasite coming out of me” Flamera hugged herself and shivered.
“My mom finally showed up and looked mortified. She called for my dad and I distinctly remember her telling him to help me while she called my grandfather.”
“This whole “demon” thing was hidden from me and my brothers in attempt have a regular family. My grandfather said that this is supposed to happen around my age. Its unknown why my brothers went unaffected by our genetics. By some luck I was granted these abilities. My mom later told me that early on she knew it was me. Theres nothing anatomically that determines whether I would have been a demon but she would see glimpses of my eyes slightly slitting.”
Flameras hands drop to her lap.
“She was trying to cope with the truth before it eventually happened.”
Thick silence fell through the air as sunsets concerned face only grew as it lingered.
“Flamera….” she reaches out for the demons hand. She pushes it away gently. The hair covered her head, but slowly rising her sharp pupils met with Sunsets sea green eyes.
“I wasnt done yet.” she says with a stern tone.
The demon readjusts herself and continues.
“To understand parts of this you have to realize what was going on mentally. Two weeks after this happened my birthday came around. 5 days later would mark the beginning of this all really.” her melancholy tone lingered in Sunsets ear, waiting for more.
“We were set to move 5 days after my birthday. We didn't even have a home for us yet. I was already torn up by the revelation I had to switch schools, but issue after issue kept piling up. Even after we found a house we didnt even live in for more than a year.”
She rubs her shoulder awkwardly
“Everything in my life was crumbling apart. My friends hated me, my grades were ass, I was homeless living in an abusive household.” her tears threaten to come back again.
“My first transformation happened cause the bickering in the house got so severe that my brother was physically harming things. The tension kept rising until I couldn't take it…”
“I remember running down stairs in fit of rage and yelling at my grandmother for her abusive treatment of my own mother. The arguing got to a point where I finally snapped.”
She shudders
“I don't have any memory of the incident but, it awakened that power within me. When I came to, my body has altered completely. I was met with my grandma and mom staring at me with horrified looks.”
“The walls I had built were able contain the sheer amount of fear I was experiencing about myself. They started arguing again i think and iIran back upstairs in order to calm myself. I looked at the bathroom mirror for a good 30 seconds until my fist went straight through it.” she glances to her right hand, making a fist with it.
Flamera stands up
“This, is what I was met with.” she says gesturing to her body.
“A grotesque creature born from a even more fucked up family.”
Sunset looks up to Flamera and notices the shine briming from her eyes.
“My fate was sealed after that…i kept getting worse mentally, and despite my living situation slightly improving, I began having difficulty controlling my emotions.”
“I’m medicated for ADHD yet my impulse control was horrible. I only started reeling back after the incident that got me expelled.”
“Do you think it was related to your… demon ness???” Sunset asked inching closer to her as she sat back down.
“I would say yes. I was medicated for anxiety and depression after my sophomore year which is when I moved to my other grandma’s house.”
Flameras gaze was stuck to the ground with a damaged look. She looked like she was trying to reprocess everything she went through. Sunset reached a hand out but eventually took it back. She lunged at flamera pulling her into another hug.
“Dude this is like the fourth time tonight….” Flamera blurted out. Despite her grievances with the hug, she did want it. She yearned for the slightest bit of affection. And sunset knew this. Flameras face was riddle with red from her cheeks blushing. She’d been unable to admit that this was the thing she yeared for the past 4 years of her life.
This was the first time she had ever opened up to Sunset on such a level. She had always opened up to Flamera about her own past. She knew first hand how hard it was to even talk about those thing.
Flameras pointed ears fell limp as the emotions swelled within her.
“I know thats not how you actually feel.” Sunset muttered.
“No… its not.” the demon quivered at the response.
Sunset let go of the hug and looked at flamera with hopeful eyes.
“I know I’m not a demon so I cant fully understand what you go through on a daily basis, but I am experienced in magic. And I also was a demon for a few minutes.”
She grabs Flameras hands. Her fingers graze the demons dagger like fingers.
“I want to help you control this Flamera, you have an incredible gift.” Sunset coos.
Flamera begins softly crying hearing those words.
an incredible gift….
The words echo in her mind.
“I-is this really an incredible gift?” Flamera stammers out. The tears finally release but remain hidden by her hair.
“Cause all its done is make my life increasingly harder to manage.” she chokes out.
Her hair is moved by Sunset revealing her tears which glistened in the moonlight.
“Flamera I have never met someone like you before, not even in equestria.” she grabs the girls jaw and rubs the tear away from her eyes.
“You arent a monster, you might physically be one but theres nothing wrong with that if you’re a good person. You had little means of support then, of course you would lash out to something like that. I know how hard it is to tell yourself your a good person.”
“I want to help you accept this part of you, because there is nothing wrong with it or you.” she warmly smiles at the girl.
The dam breaks at “or you”. The demon lunges at Sunset who was prepared for it. Her grip on the red head was tight, but also careful and considerate. The demons loud sobs echo throughout the entire apartment she begins caresses the demons back to make her more comfortable.
“Let it all out, you dont need to hold back. You dont need to hide it anymore, its ok….” Sunset cooed in a gentle tone. The demons crying only got more severe at the sincerity of her words.
“I’m here for you…”

Author's Note
HI SO THIS IS SUPER OUT OF CONTEXT!!! this is canon to my entire au, im just writing it in parts because its easier for my stupid ass brain. i wasnt planning on uploading this to fimfiction in the first place. stupid pastebin wouldnt let me post it cause its “too offensive”?
i didnt mean to make this incredibly gay but i did (no way the lesbian writes gay things!!)
feel the need to mention that while my writings are heavily oc x canon, its not the main focus.
this was written in the span of a month i think so if i repeat anything thats probably why, its not intentional i just didnt want to read back. (also words that should be capitalized but werent are cause have auto caps off on my phone. i tried my best to fix all the errors. not exactly that picky tho.
as of Dec 16th its considered unfinished cause id like to add another supplementary chapter where its sunsets journal entires to twilight. i have part of it written already.
last note but the long “huh” flamera says is a reference to house m.d.
