In the aftermath of the Molten Man attack, the Spider-heroes were helping the city anyway they could. The streets were a mess, lava pools, out of control fires; emergency services were spread thin.

A bus was on its side in the middle of the street, Spider-Girl was helping people by pulling them out of the bus and handing them to the EMTs who were on the scene. When the last person was safe, Twilight checked her phone, no signal; she tried her comm system, but it just came up as static.

Despite this, she had to contact Spiderman in some way, he was on the other side of the city.

Adam found some debris that was blocking a subway entrance; people were trapped underground. Spiderman lifted the rubble out of the way and allowed the people to get out; he pointed them in the direction of the fire brigade, they would look after them.

“Adam..... Adam..... Can you.... hear....”

Adam checked his comm, he could hear Twilight, but the signal was awful; the entire communication network must have been down. Never the less, Spidey was going to have to meet up with Twilight later, the city still needed help.

Spiderman jumped into the air and began swinging down the street, “Raggamuffin, what happened?” the hero muttered to himself. “I mean, he was no good guy; but this is extreme, even for him.”

Suddenly, Spidey saw someone trapped under some fallen debris; he jumped down from his web and landed next to them. Using all of his strength, Adam lifted the rubble away, the trapped person crawled out from underneath. Spiderman through the rubble away, then he checked the man.

“Spiderman, my leg. I think its broken.” The injured civilian said.

Adam hoisted the man onto his shoulders and carried him away, “Don’t worry, I’ll swing you to an ambulance.” He then jumped up and started swinging on webs. The hero carried the civilian all the way to the EMTs; once there, Adam placed the man on a gurney and left him in the care of the professionals.

Suddenly, the ground started shaking, buildings were beginning to crumble; all the seismic activity has caused some minor earthquakes. A large chunk of a building broke off from the rest of its foundation, and it fell towards the street below.

The hero’s Spider-sense warned him about the incoming danger, but he couldn’t react in time; there were too many people, he couldn’t clear them all. However, just before the debris his the ground, a blast of blue energy struck the rock and caused it to explode; leaving the smaller chunks to safely fall out of the way. Adam looked up again, only to find the rest of his team arriving on the scene.

Rarity, the one who just fired the life saving blast, aka Iron Heart. Applejack, the symbiote wearing spider, aka Spider-Woman. Pinkie Pie, the elastic party girl, aka Ms Marvel. Rainbow Dash, the fastest person on the planet, aka the Dash. And Soarin, Rainbow’s husband and the living energy source, aka Nova.

Spiderman had only one thing to say to his team, “Well, you lot took your time.” He said in a sarcastic tone.

“We do have lives outside of this work, Spidey.” Ms Marvel replied.

Police sirens were then heard wailing into the scene; the heroes all turned to see them. And stepping out of the leading car, was Police Captain, Gilda Griffon; the person who loathes superheroes more than anyone in the city.

The captain asked, “Detective Spear Head.” The newly promoted detective got out of his car and walked over to his superior. “What are these costumed clowns doing here? We’ve been over this.”

Spear Head replied, “Don’t worry, Captain; I will handle this.”

Gilda scoffed before wandering away, leaving Spear Head with the heroes. The detective walked over to them and they to him; Spider-Woman commented, “She is just a ‘bundle of joy’ as always.”

“Don’t let her get to you; the entire police department both looks up to and admires you. Everyone except her.” Spear Head replied. “I have receive hundreds of orders from her saying we should lock you up.”

The Dash replied, “Lock ‘us’ up? After all we do for this city.’

Nova put his arm around his wife, “Don’t let her get to you, babe.”

With the emotional moment passed, Rarity stepped forward and asked, “Is there anything we can help you with, detective?”

Spear Head quickly looked around, making sure Gilda wasn’t around; he was about to share police intel with them. “There is actually. A Crystal Prep school bus was hit on Ninth Street; no one was hurt, but five of the students are missing. As of right now, its been filed as a missing persons case; we don’t have any leads, I was hoping one of you could take a crack at it.”

Iron Heart was the one who asked, so the team felt it right for Rarity to take this one; she replied, “I’ll find those kids, you can count on me.” With that said, Spear Head returned to the other officers, there was still work to be done around the city.

When the heroes were left to themselves, Pinkie Pie commented, “That’s horrible, who would kidnap children?”

Applejack replied, “Who said anything about ‘kidnapping’? For all we know, they’re just lost somewhere in all this destruction.” That comment made Pinkie gasp in fear again, so AJ had to think fast, “But, I’m sure they’re fine, Sugarcube.”

Suddenly, Adam’s phone began ringing; Twilight Sparkle was calling, so he answered the call, “Hey, Twilight; I guess communications are fixed.”

But the other Spider-Hero replied, “Adam, we need to get back to CHS; Cranky Doodle will be having a cow right now.”

In all the commotion, Adam had completely forgotten about the school; some ‘first day’ this turned out to be. “I’ll be right there, Twilight.” He said before hanging up; he then turned to the girls and explained, “I’ve got to get back to the school, I think I’m about to lose my job.”

“Don’t worry, Adam; we’ve got this. You go and get fired.” Rainbow Dash stated.

“Rainbow!” the group said in unison.

Adam then jumped up and started swinging away, back to Canterlot High School.

With their friends handling things in the city, the two Spiders were able to swing back to Canterlot High; they were ready to face the consequences of their actions. The two of them changed back into their normal attire before walking back up to the school entrance; Cranky Doodle was already there waiting for them.

Adam started with, “Principle Doodle, I can....

However, Adam was cut off when the head-teacher said, “Well, guess who finally decided to show up today.” Cranky Doodle just shook his head in disappointment. “You know, Principle Celestia might have put up with the tardiness when you were a student here, but I won’t tolerate it. And you Ms Sparkle, I expected better from you.” He said, aiming at Twilight.

“Principle Doodle, I know this looks terrible.” Twilight pleaded. “But there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for what happened.”

The principle was trying to say his next thing, but he could not get a word out with Adam and Twilight babbling on with excuses; it was only after he raised his voice that he got them to be quiet and listen.

“No more excuses!” he stated. “Your job is to protect these students, not to abandon them. You’re fired, both of you.” Cranky Doodle handed Adam his backpack that he was holding and stormed off, leaving the two heroes without jobs.

The two of them stood there for a minute, just taking in what had happened; until Twilight said, “If I’d known being a superhero meant you couldn’t have a stable career, I’d have re-thought my life choices.”

“Welcome to my world.” Adam replied.

Later that day, Spiderman was back in his threads and swinging down town; he was going to a neighbourhood just outside the main city. His wife, Fluttershy was there, he said he'd meet her outside one of the houses.

Whilst swinging there, Fluttershy called Adam to check on him, “Hi honey, how was your first day?”

Adam replied, “Oh, it was fine. Teaching and all that.”

“Molten Man really made a mess in the city, I was worried Blue Flitter was going to cancel on us.” Fluttershy explained.

But Adam replied, “Even if she did, we could’ve always rebooked the appointment, nothing is going to stop this from happening.”

Fluttershy ended the conversation with, “Okay, I’ll see you in a bit, I love you.”

“I love you too.”

With that said, the call ended, just as Adam was swinging down to the ground; he ducked behind some dumpsters to change, once that was done, he ran over to join his wife.

Adam and Fluttershy met up outside one of the houses on the block, it had a ‘FOR SALE’ sign out the front. Ever since the two got married, Fluttershy always believed that they should move out of the apartment and get a proper house together.

After the married couple greeted each other with a quick kiss, it was time for Adam to bite the verbal bullet. Fluttershy asked him, “What’s wrong?”

The Spider-Hero replied, “I... got fired.”

“What, oh no. You were really looking forward to this job.” Fluttershy replied.

“Me and Twilight had the whole term planned out. Just next week, we were going to build a potato powered helicopter.” Spidey explained.

Fluttershy then said, “Don’t worry, Adam, this isn’t the end. If all else fails, I can get you a job back at the animal shelter with me.” She giggled at a memory that just came back. “Remember the day we first met?”

“How could I forget, I handed you my resume and we played with some of the dogs; then we got attacked by a were-wolf.” Adam replied.

After shaking her head and sighing, Fluttershy said, “The point is, when one door closes, another door opens.”

Adam then noticed a woman in a suit approach them; she had a flip-chart and a briefcase, Blue Flitter, the real-estate agent. The couple shook hands with the agent and introduced themselves.

"Hello, my name’s Fluttershy, we spoke on the phone. And this is my husband, Adam.” Fluttershy explained, Adam just waved slightly.

Blue Flitter replied, “Yes, the Shy’s. You’ve been looking to purchase a property here in this area, lets get started.” The agent led the couple into the house they were next to, hoping this could be a good sale.

The agent opened the door and already, Fluttershy loved it; she’d not lived in a place like this since she moved out of her parents house. Adam and Blue Flitter just let Fluttershy wander off through the house, she wanted to explore; leaving Adam to work out the details.

Adam said to Blue Flitter, “Well, I can tell my wife already loves it.” Fluttershy being happy always made Adam happy; which was bad news as Blue Flitter was about to make all the good feelings come crashing down.

“The mortgage starts at about $22,000.” Blue Flitter explained.

Making Adam reply, “Go to hell.”

That statement came out of nowhere, causing both Adam and Blue Flitter to gasp; Adam shook his head and replied, “I’m sorry, I don’t normally talk like that. That’s just the start of the mortgage?”

The agent explained, “Well, you need to put a deposit of that amount down if you want a chance of even starting the procedure to purchase this house.”

Adam walked over to Fluttershy, he hated to deprive her of her dream home, but she needed to know the money-situation. Adam explained it to her and she saw where he was coming from, but she also didn’t want to give up on this.

Fluttershy said to Adam, “Honey, I know this seems like a lot of work, but I really want this for us. This could be the next chapter in our lives.” She then took his hand, “This could be where we raise a family.”

Adam replied, “I want all that, and more, but we’re in way over our heads here. We can barely afford the place we live in now.”

The couple then hugged, holding each other in their arms; Fluttershy said, “We’ll get through this rough patch, you’ll see.”

Driving through the streets of Canterlot were three black vans; they were driving around the roadblocks and trying to be as discreet as possible. The drivers and occupants of the black vans were all wearing the purple hockey masks with the earth-picture painted on the temple.

All except for the man in the back of the third van; Tombstone was sitting in his seat with a laptop propped up in front of him. In his ear, was an earpiece; he tapped the device and said, “Report.”

One of his men responded with, “Multiple targets eliminated, however Molten Man eluded us. Recapture, not an option.”

Tombstone replied, “So one got away, big deal. Be ready for the transfer tomorrow, and don’t let me down.” As the former drug-lord played with the combat knife in his hands, he looked at his laptop; it showed the prisoner manifest, inmates from Rykers who were going to be transferred to Ravencroft.

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Spider-Woman was swinging down the street and searching for people to help; it had been a good few hours since Molten Man’s rampage, but the city was still half destroyed. Rescue teams were sent out, and construction teams were sent to destroy any unstable structures.

While she was swinging, Applejack noticed someone calling her down; she looked below and saw a chief firefighter and his crew stood by a crumbling building. The chief was calling the Spider-hero down, they needed help.

Applejack let go of her web and landed in front of them, “Howdy, chief; what’s the problem?”

The fire chief explained, “This building has been deemed unsafe, so we’re tearing it down; we’ve managed to set explosives in all the sectors but the last one....”

Before the chief could finish, an explosion was heard from above; everyone looked up and saw a smoke cloud from one of the top floors.

“The demo-crews’ in there, there’s four of them.” Another firefighter explained.

Applejack replied, “Don’t worry, Sugarcube; I’ll find them. Just keep your radios open so we can communicate. And make sure nobody touches that detonator.” With that said, Spider-Woman jumped up and used a symbiote tentacle to pull herself towards the building; she found an open window and crawled inside.

As soon as she got inside, she found one of the demo-crew; they were trapped in the room, and the walls were crumbling around him. Spider-Woman jumped down next to him, she then used a number of symbiote tentacles to hold up the ceiling.

“Are you alright?” she asked him.

The worker replied, “Yeah, I’m fine.” The man then remembered something he had, “I have a beacon on me, all the demo-crew do. Its so we can be found in situations like this; but mine’s busted.”

Applejack pushed the ceiling up and used webs to hold it and the walls in place, then she took the beacon device and knew how to repair it.

Despite the fact her suit was an artificial symbiote, she was still connected to the server that the rest of the team uses for hacking, communication and system repairs. Applejack used this system to hack the beacon and reactivate it.

“There you go, Sugarcube.” She said, handing back the beacon. “Fire and Rescue will come and pick you up.”

The demo-worker was breathing normally now, Spider-Woman carefully broke through the door to the next room; she had to work her way through the building to find the rest of the crew.

As she crawled over the debris, she saw a large sheet of plaster that had fallen from the ceiling; it was blocking her way, and she could mildly hear the sound of someone talking on the other side. So, Applejack surged her suit and shot a large symbiote tendril out of her left arm; it acted like a giant fist and punched through the obstruction.

She found two of the demo-crew, they were pinned down under fallen debris; one of them was able to call out, “Spider-Woman, we can’t move.”

“I’ll lift it; once you’re free, move out of the way.” Spider-Woman explained. Applejack once again had to surge her suit, channel all the strength to her arms; she lifted the debris off of the workers. But suddenly, another piece of rubble fell from the ceiling and landed on top of the pile; Applejack had to use even more strength to lift it just enough so the men could get out.

“Go, go, go.” AJ muttered.

The workers were able to crawl out from under the rubble and make it to safety. Applejack had to let go of the debris; so she dropped the pieces of the building and jumped out of the way.

All three of them were in the clear, but the debris was cutting Applejack of from the two demo-workers; she could still see them through a hole in the rubble. So AJ told them, “Stay where you are and activate your beacons. Fire and Rescue will be able to find you.”

One of the workers replied, “Okay, and thank you.”

Now Applejack had to find the last worker before the whole building came crashing down; she found an air-vent she could use to get to the other side of the building. She commented, “Seen Adam and Twilight do this all the time.”

While crawling through the ventilation system, Spider-Woman could look through the ceiling and see the rooms below her; but what puzzled her the most, was that she could hear voices in the distance, calm voices.

“We’ve got everything worth taking! If we keep digging for more, this whole place is going to come down.”

“The boss said he was here working. We don’t leave until we’ve ‘iced’ the snitch.”

Applejack kept crawling through the vents and followed the voices, until she reached the end of the vent; that’s where she heard another voice say, “Over here, I found him.”

Spider-Woman crawled out of the vent and up the wall of a large open room, it looked like the main entrance hall of the building. She saw the people that were talking; they were all wearing winter clothes and snow coats, along with ski-goggles to hide parts of their faces.

There were six of them in the room, three had guns, one was holding a crowbar and the last two were holding.... the last demo-worker.

One of the thugs holding the worker asked, “Is this him?”

The one with the crowbar replied, “Yeah, this is him.” he turned his head to the worker, “This is the snitch.”

The demo-worker was trying to plead with them, “Please, I didn’t tell the police anything, I just wanted out.”

“Oh really, well someone told the pigs about the boss; now he’s on the run and has lost everything. And the boss seems to think it was you.” The thug with the crowbar said. “So now, we have to even the score.” The thug raised his weapon and was about to strike.

That was until Applejack jumped off the wall, spun in the air, shot webs at the faces of the ones holding the worker and swung her leg around to trip up the one with the crowbar. She turned to the demo-worker and shouted, “Get out of here!”

The man nodded and ran for his life, leaving AJ with the winter-thugs.

The crowbar-guy charged towards the hero, but she responded by punching him three times before kicking him to the wall, knocking him unconscious. Another thug tried to attack, but Spider-Woman grabbed him by his shoulders and they were both lifted by two tendrils that emerged from AJ’s back; she then slammed the thug on the ground, with her landing on his stomach.

After that, the three guys with guns all lined up and were about to fire; that was until Spider-Woman shot three tendrils out of her right hand and grabbed the three gunmen. All three of them were slammed on the ground and knocked out cold.

Once they were down, Applejack remembered there was still one guy left; she turned around and saw him trying to run away. He ran out the door; but before AJ could go after him, something strong threw him back through the door and to Applejack’s feet.

Spider-Woman looked at the door, only to find a familiar face in the door frame; the city’s greatest thief, and slipperiest criminal, Octavia. AJ watched as ‘The Talon’ ran to the thug she’d just knocked out; she didn’t pay any attention to Applejack, or even acknowledge she was here.

Talon pulled down the thugs sleeve, revealing the tattoo he had on his arm, it was an iceberg. “I knew it.” She muttered.

“Um, hello.”

Octavia looked up at Applejack, finally taking notice; the thief explained, “You’re not the spider I was expecting to find here.”

Spider-Woman replied, “He’s busy.” She felt the need to remind her. “With his wife.”

“Don’t waste your breath, I’m over him now.” Octavia explained.

Suddenly, the room started shaking; the building was too unstable, it was coming down. The two realised that they couldn’t stay here, they needed to get out.

“I guess I’ll see you around.” Talon said to the hero.

Applejack replied, “What about them?” gesturing to the thugs.

“They made their choice.”

With that, Octavia just left; Applejack couldn’t just leave these criminals to die here, so she had to work fast. Using six tentacles that emerged from her back, AJ grabbed all six of the thugs and ran for the door. She used her symbiote strength to burst out of the building, she then threw all six of the thugs to the wall of the building across the street and kept them there with a large web-net.

Once everyone was save, she sent a message to the fire fighter at the scene; she told them that all the people were out of the building and that the police should be called about the winter-thugs across the street.

After all that, AJ swung up to the rooftops; she muttered to herself, “I think I just found myself a case; I should keep an eye out for Octavia and any more of these snow-coat-thugs.” However, it was getting late, Applejack decided to swing home for the night; the city was safe again, for now.
