It’s the final hour of the day. The wind is blowing with a hint of dust in the air. The remnants of countless wars are still present in the land with rusted helmets, swords, and other bits and pieces everywhere, embedded into the ground due to years of fighting and bloodshed. The plants barely recognizable, the trees with just bits of orange and red colored leaves on the remaining but mostly rotten branches, the grass brown from either lack of care or from too much blood being spilled during countless battles that have taken place. And finally, the flowers and bushes all looking more like tumble weeds than what they originally looked like. As for the sky… for a lack of a better phrase it looks apocalyptic.
Now, as the doomsday clock ticks down, one pony by the name of Twilight Sparkle resides in an abandoned, yet still standing Ponyville home, with the remaining creatures that are still alive, and still loyal to the equestrian cause. As for the former princesses, they’re getting ready to literally end it all. With Luna controlling the moon, and Celestia controlling the sun, their plan was to destroy all of Equestria with the collision of the two celestial bodies in hopes of restarting everything with a glorious rebirth… . Or not.
Time is running out, and the three remaining members of the Equestrian Army are in disarray. Spike, who is now Captain of the Dragon land brigade is pacing back and forth while having both of his claws on each side of his head in distress. Smolder, new yet now former Dragon Lord is fuming on how she lost so many people in the past, and in the near present as well. And as for Twlight Sparkle, Princess of Equestria now former Warchief, is contemplating on what there is left to do while the plan is underway to bring an end to the world. She wanted nothing more than to preserve and rebuild what was left. But after countless years of verbal fighting with the former princess sisters, it proved to be pointless in the end.
However, before Twilight can come up with one more solution for salvation, Spike spoke up. “Where were you when Equestria has fallen Smolder, huh? Where were you?!” Fed up now by the sudden outburst, Smolder pipes up and shouted; “you know damn well where I was you little grub. I was at the dragon lands, trying my hardest to keep every dragon in line, and not revolt to Equestria! How in the hell did you expect me to do that and not help you two?! Huh??? How?!”
Twilight soon got fed up with the two arguing and shouted “alright I’ve had it! Spike, you sir are grounded until the world is at an end. And as for you young lady, not one more word out of your mouth until I say otherwise. Is that understood?!” Both nodded, but eventually parted ways to different rooms in the house to keep their distance from each other, trying their best to avoid another conflict, this time involving the two dragons fighting each other.
Meanwhile… in the fallen kingdom of Canterlot.
“Dearest Celestia… is this truly what you wanted? Because once this spell of ours start, there’s no coming back from this.” Luna said, her horn glowing as her magic is currently enveloping the moon, awaiting her sister’s final words. “Indeed dearest sister. There is no other way… . For what has happened ever since the wars… I just can’t… .” Celestia pauses, sniffling and crying slightly, remembering the day that Flurry Heart perished at the claws of a griffin that was once a loyal ally to all of ponykind, but no more.
“I see sister. I… . I hope that we’ll meet again.” Luna said solemnly, knowing what needs to be done, but also thinking back on what Gallus had done to break the alliance between griffins and ponies; which also made Luna shed a tear for the fallen crystal Empire Princess. “Ready?” She began once more. “Ready” Celestia affirmed. “Till we meet again.” Luna finished before beginning the process of crashing the moon into the sun.
Few minutes later… back at the house where Twilight and the two dragon commanders are at.
“Spike, Smolder, what do you two have to say for yourselves?” Twilight was standing in front of the two former dragon commanders, hooves crossed, and one of her back hooves tapping on the ground in anticipation, hoping that for just once, these two knuckleheads could finally get along and form an apology with each other. She wanted to keep on reminding them of friendship by doing what she thought was a good idea at the time. By having them be reminded of wonderful memories of the days that happened before the wars began; hoping that eventually they’ll put aside their pitiful rivalry, and finally become friends again once more. But what happened instead was the complete opposite.
What happened first was a sarcastic apology from Spike, which then was followed by a jab at the young drake’s supposed loyalty to his own kind. Eventually it progressed to heated words, followed by arguing, which then resulted in swords clashing, and more arguing, with shouting this time. And flying. Unfortunately though… this all ended when Spike had swung at Smolder, but missed; causing the former to swing back, only this time it connected… to something vital. And with that… it’s over.
“You imbecile!” Twilight shouted at what Smolder had done. “You have killed not only your own friend, but also my adopted son… .” Twilight’s eyes began to water before she whimpered, “have you no shame… ?!”
Smolder is kneeling down, her sword resting on the ground with the fresh stain of crimson on her blade, her claws trembling in shock, her mouth quivering, and her pupils, shrunken. She’s speechless. She didn’t know what she had done until it was too late. Spike had been killed, and it was not by an enemy soldier. It was by his friend… or so he thought before he perished.
However, before Smolder could say something to hopefully right her wrong somehow, or at the very least, make the los seem a little less painful, Twilight picked up the sword that had Spike’s blood on it, and then with a mighty heave; swung it at her, which then caused her to be beheaded, albeit not cleanly as the blade had rusted slightly from the recent bloodshed.
Kneeling down now, grieving the loss of her beloved adopted son/little brother, Twilight was sobbing uncontrollably, and then was raising her hooves, which held the lifeless body of Spike the Dragon. Making a last ditch attempt at friendship, or just saying her final words, Twilight then whimpered out all the fond memories that she had remembered from all those years ago.
“Spike… “ she began. Remember when you and Smolder almost burned down the friendship school having a fire breathing contest?” Twilight chuckled at the thought before continuing with; “that was some good s’mores you two whipped up. I’m glad that happened… .” She then turned to Smolder, with a frown this time as Twilight definitely regretted decapitating her, and the whimpered with; “r-remember that one time that Spike had to save us from that Roc? A-a-and he was flying b-because you taught him? I mean it Smolder when I said I wished I can adopt you too… so you can be Spike’s older sister.. .” She then cried some more after that sentence.
Seeing that the sun and moon are almost within colliding distance, Twilight took one final look at Spike and Smolder; the only two friends that had stuck with her to the very end, before looking out the window now and breathing a sigh of relief, knowing that she’ll be no longer suffering from her emotional pain anymore… .
And with that, a mighty boom occurred, followed with a flash before it dimmed, showing the moon in pieces and chunks, which eventually grew larger and larger until… they crashed. They crashed into the home, the land, the trees, the forest, everything. And if that wasn’t bad enough, one huge chunk connected soon afterwards, causing another mighty boom before sending a shockwave throughout Equestria so powerful, that it literally vaporized everything within its radius. And with that, the end of the world had ended, and the clock for the apocalypse had finally ticked down to its last second, before stopping for good.
The End
