Hearth's Warming Letters
Hearth's warming Letters
Load Full Story“Okay a little to the left!” Sunburst called out helpign the students to set the stage for the hearth’s warming paly. They had a few weeks to prepare. Getting not only the decorations ready they still had to rehearse lines again.
Sunburst was excited as this would be the first hearth’s warming he got to spend with a coltfriend. He thought of all the romantic things he’d get to do like drinking warm coco by the fire, sharing stories of friendship from throughout the year. His cheeks blushed pink at the thought of being able to sneak kisses under the mistltoe.
Not wanting ot get too distracted he threw himself into getting things ready. He helped Rarity with the costumes and fluttershy by building some perches for the birds to land on when they sang. Rainbow Dash needed somepony to time her so she could perfect the eerie wendigo flight pattern. Sunburst even helped Applejack unload barrels of sider and apple tarts to serve as concessions for the show to help raise money for the Apple farm.
Zephyr was getting impatient though as his throughts became consumed with being able to see Zephyr Breeze even his dreams gave him no rest Luna help him.
Sunburst paced nervously outside the castle waiting for the mailmare to arrive so that he could send his letter to Zephyr Breeze. He’d excitedlly penned a loving missive for his beloved. Feeling his nerves get to him he decided to read the letter over again one more time just in case.
Dear Zephyr,
I’m so looking forward to spending Hearthswarming with you. I’m going to be helping in this year’s producting of the Hearthswarming pagent proving some of the special effects. It’s sure to be a big hit! Er well I hope so at least. I’ve enclosed a ticked for you to come see the show. I’ll meet you backstage after it’s over and take you to meet the cast and crew.
Love,
Sunburst
Satisfied that he’d fully laid his heart into it he patiently waited. Soon Derpy Hooves glided down. Takng a pen and clipboard from her side satchel and offering it to him. “Sign here please!” Sunburst ignited his horn and inked his name as he excitedly took the package. Sure he could have just delivered it itnstantly with a spell but he thought it was more romantic to do things the old fashioned way. And it would hopefuly calm his nerves while he knew he had to wait for a reply. He trotted back to the castle of friendship to wait for a reply, hoping getting last minute preparations and decorations ready would be a good distraction.
It was soon a few days before hearth’s warming that got his reply.
“Your letter was very pretty. I might be able to make it..”
“YEs yes yes!” Sunburst bounced up and down as he got ready to see his coltfriend in the flesh.
Eagerly Sunburst penned anothe letter and zapped a reply to him not wanting to risk it not arriving late.
He pulled out more quills and paper quickly writing several more equeally long letters and attatch return chrystals at the bottom of each along with blank pages.
Then he waited and waited. Sunburst thought he might be able to just teleport himself to Zephyr breeze. “Don’t be rediculous, he’s probably just busy.” So Zephyr returned to school and looked forward to arriving home to hopefully another letter. Wanting to prolong the inevitable he decided to stay after classes helping tutor some of the student sand give those who might want it a chance at extra credt before the holiday. Anything he could think of to prolong the possiblity of being dissappointed as he thought more and more about what Zephyr might say.
He decided to take the long way around Ponyville and stop at Sugarcube corner maybe somethign sweet would help cheer him up.
“Hey what’s with the sour face, you’re eating the sweetest sugariest, most scrumptious thing we have?” Pinkie asked.
“Oh i’m just waiting to hear back from Zephyr breeze about plans for hearth’s warming.” His tone a bit deflated as he idly moved the spoon of his supersized banana split sunday back and forth with his magic. As the stars were starting to come out and Luna was beginning to raise the moon he decided he couldn’t wait and longer and just had to find out what Zephyr might say.
He trotted slowly back to his mailbox even though every fiber of him was screaming to break into a fully gallup and hopefully get a reply right away. Soon he couldn’t delay the inevitable any longer as he arrived in front of his mailbox staring at the name written on the front of his box. He lit his horn and slowly peeled open the box seeing a small folded scroll.
“Dear Sunburst,
I hope you have a Happy Hearth’s Warming. I hope the show goes well.
Love Zephyr”
The reply was short and he’d hope to get something a little longer. He set himself to get ready for the show.
He wrote one more longer letter for him as he hoped that they’d be able to spend Hearth’s warming together as he got ready for the show. Everyone took thier place and he took one last look out in front fo the crowd unable to making out to many ponies faces to see if Zephyr had arrived or not.
Soon all that came back was a letter with a single letter “ K” was his only reply. He then got behind the curtain and the show soon went off without a hitch. He saw the excited faces of his students at making everyone proud for their show.
Sunburst then took a bow with Spike, Twilight, and all the other teachers excited to begin hearth’s warming holideays with feasting and fun.
Sunburst walked back to home to see a pile of papers stacked up in front of his house, each one blank. Deciding to send a message he sent his own blank letter in return.
