Chapters The first day of the beach opening. It was officially five o’clock in the morning and this was the frantic hour when all of his biggest shipments came in. Providence raised an eyebrow at her. That thing was fifteen bits, far cheaper than the repair job she just did to such an ancient piece of machinery. She did not seem to have a single bit of hesitation about it, though. He shrugged and nodded.
“Okay, take it.” He said and watched her drop it into the sack Fable carried. He said his thank yous and they said their goodbyes, but then Providence stopped them.
“Hey, if I were wanting to set up an internet connection up here, can you do something like that too?” Providence asked Voltage and she thought for a moment.
“I can do something like that, but it’s not what I specialize in. I know about as much as I need to know in order to set up some gaming servers and stuff like that, but I’m more familiar with hardware than software.” Voltage admitted. She tried to do some of that coding and intricate computer firmware and software, but never ended up doing anything with it. “I would say go see Midnight Sun, but I think her boss closed down the shop.”
“Yeah, someone different owns it now. I think it’s still a computer store, though.” Fable got his phone out and got the information for Providence as the blue haired, gray pegasus came back from the changing rooms.
As Providence thanked them again, the two of them left and in walked a much more curvy, shapely figure that made the griffon lock up completely at the first sighting.

“Absolutely, yes, just give me one moment and I will be right there.” He said before he very quickly tried to scan the barcodes on the shirt and trunks.
“Dude, I suddenly was not kidding about that application.” He whispered to him and reached for his hand. “My name’s Ice Cap, by the way, and I want to follow you to the ends of Equestria.”
“As soon as I have money to pay you with, you’ll be the first to know. Right now.” Providence nodded toward the dark, lovely lady looking around at the bathing suits with a somber expression. Ice Cap nodded with a deep understanding and no short supply of envy. “Thanks for coming, Ice Cap, now please exit my store.” He whispered and the blue haired pegasus nodded.
“I’ll be back.” Ice Cap glared at him with intensity as he backed toward the door and nodded intently.
“Have a nice rest of your day. Enjoy the beach!” Providence put on a fake smile and waved. Ice Cap frowned at him with an unamused expression as he opened the door and it closed behind him. “Now, ma’am, thank you for dropping by.” The griffon immediately turned his attention to the changeling who was holding up the largest cups on the rack. It was obvious they would barely cover her at all.
“Of course, I wouldn’t miss an opening day at the beach for the world.” She said as she looked out the window toward the sunny sands and the ocean. “Looks like it’s crowding up a good bit.”
“Yeah, I gotta say, business has been good so far today. If this keeps up, I might be able to eat something other than ramen.” Providence said as he approached her and she smiled at his little joke that was definitely not at all a joke.
“Alright, well, as you probably noticed, I am a little big.” She said and then held her hand out toward him with her palm open. “I’m Vespa, by the way. I need a top that actually fits and doesn’t go see-through in water.”

“That sounds nice. What are you majoring in?” Vespa asked Wave as Angel walked up to Providence and turned herself around so that he could see the tag on the bathing suit she wore.
“I don’t have a major right this second, but I’m thinking of filmmaking.” He said as he shared a look with Angel Wing that was something of her snobbish face showing him kissy lips, but only a little bit. He smiled at her and offered her a wink. “You guys want to come over tonight? It’ll be a chill time.”
“What? You’re inviting them to our study session?” Angel asked as she eyed the two of them. It wasn’t often that someone out did her rack, but she had to admit, Vespa was a bit of a ridiculous size.
“Yeah, they can help keep us focused.” Wave said, not making a lick of sense, but making Vespa giggle a little bit. That’s when he looked over at Providence, who still seemed to be mulling over the idea. “Yo, you just opened this place, right?” He asked and Providence nodded.
“It’s brand new.” Providence affirmed and Wave nodded to him.
“Yeah, so you need some chill time, bro. Opening a store is a lot of work and you need to meet some new people. Am I right?” Wave said as he put some swim trunks onto the counter and checked them out.
“That sounds like a pretty good idea, I guess.” Providence said, then looked over toward Vespa, who was nodding at him. “I’ll go.”

Wave’s room wasn’t a total mess, but it was a little cramped. This stallion owned five surfboards and had them stacked on top of each other on one side of his king sized bed. For a TV, though, as crazy as it sounds, Wave owned a small tube television that looked like it was straight from the nineteen eighties. His VHS collection was huge and had movies such as the original Thunder Horse, The Fluffy Pony movies, and action movies ranging from original superhero movies to shoot’em ups as far as the eye could see. The room was straight out of the past with neon posters and comic books his dad had given him as a teenager, when he was old enough to care for them.
“Wow, even the stereo has a cassette tape player.” Providence admired the polished metal looking stereo that reminded him of the old boom boxes. Wave was equipped with cassettes and CD’s of all kinds and Providence looked them over, noticing a few titles his dad listened to back when he was in high school.
“Yeah, I kinda took my dad’s era to heart once I found out that all of their movies were way better.” Wave said as he grabbed a box out from under his bed and began to sort through it. “Put in whatever music, just make sure to keep it turned down a bit. That’s Cherry’s wall and she practices for the orchestra.” He said as he put the metal cap on the grinder and started to twist it.
Vespa was looking over his movie collection on his tall bookshelf. His books and magazine collection was pretty impressive, considering it was all made up of hardback classic collections and jumbo magazine editions. “Do you even have a computer with internet access?” Vespa asked.
“Nah, but I’ve got friends here who let me use theirs. Cherry is barely ever on hers.” He said, then he held up his smartphone. It was apparently the only real piece of modern technology he owned.
