“This is their house,” Rarity said, her gaze resting on the grand building in front of them.
“I’ll ring the bell,” Golden Crown offered, stepping forward.
She pressed the button, and a clear ding-dong echoed from within the house. Moments later, the door creaked open to reveal Spoiled Rich standing there, her expression cool and questioning.
“Yes, how may I help you?” Spoiled Rich asked, her tone polite but guarded.
Rarity stepped forward, her voice calm yet firm. “I was wondering if I might speak with your husband.”
Spoiled Rich’s eyes narrowed. “Why? So you can steal him?” she snapped.
Rarity blinked, taken aback. “Um, no, I—” she stammered, her words faltering.
“Darling, stop,” came a voice from within. Filthy Rich stepped into view, a gentle but firm look directed at his wife.
Spoiled Rich huffed and turned away, muttering something under her breath as she disappeared into another room.
Filthy Rich offered an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry about that, ladies. Now, how may I help you?”
Rarity regained her composure. “As a mother—” she began, but then faltered. “Um, sorry, Mr. Rich, I don’t know why I said that.”
Filthy Rich nodded kindly. “I understand. A sister can feel like a daughter sometimes.”
Golden Crown stepped forward. “My name is Golden Crown,” she said, offering her hoof.
“Nice to meet you.” Filthy Rich shook her hoof firmly.
Golden Crown’s expression grew serious. “Your daughter and her friend have been bullying my daughter, Golden Dust.”
At the mention of her name, Golden Dust stepped out from behind Rarity, trembling slightly. “Hello,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Filthy Rich studied her carefully. “I see,” he said, his tone measured.
That must be my wife’s influence,” Filthy Rich said with a sigh, shaking his head.
Before he could finish his thought, a sudden scream pierced the air.
“Mommy, stop!” cried Diamond Tiara from somewhere inside the house.
Everyone froze for a split second before Rarity reacted. “I’m coming!” she yelled, rushing toward the source of the sound. Golden Crown followed close behind, with Filthy Rich right on their heels.
The cries led them to a room down the hall, the door partially ajar. As they stepped inside, the scene before them was jarring.
Diamond Tiara was cowering on the floor, her small hooves raised to shield herself, her eyes filled with fear. Silver Spoon, her closest friend, stood protectively in front of her, trembling but defiant, as if trying to shield her from what was happening.
Spoiled Rich stood over them, her expression a mixture of frustration and anger, her raised hoof frozen mid-air as the intruders burst into the room.
Rarity immediately leaped in front of the foals, shielding them from Spoiled Rich. The sudden movement startled Spoiled Rich, and before she realized what had happened, her raised hoof struck Rarity.
The impact triggered something deep within Rarity. Her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light as her inner bat instincts surged forth. In an instant, translucent bat wings unfolded from her sides, and she let out an ear-piercing, primal scream that echoed through the room.
Spoiled Rich staggered back, clutching her head in disorientation. To everyone’s shock, her cutie mark and mane faded into nothingness, leaving her with a plain, almost unrecognizable appearance.
“What did you do to me?!” Spoiled Rich shrieked, staring at her reflection in a nearby mirror.
“It was that or worse,” Rarity said weakly, her voice strained as her wings folded back. She swayed on her hooves before collapsing to the floor, unconscious.
“Leave!” Filthy Rich roared, his voice filled with authority and fury as he turned to his wife. “I don’t ever want to see you treat anyone in this house that way again. Get out!”
Spoiled Rich opened her mouth to argue, but one look at Filthy Rich’s expression silenced her. She stormed out of the room without another word.
Filthy Rich knelt beside Rarity. “I’ll get bandages,” he said, his voice trembling with worry.
“No need,” Golden Dust said softly, stepping forward. She shook her small bat wings, and a piece of fabric that had been wrapped around them fell to the floor.
“It just needs a good wash,” Golden Dust added with a shy smile, offering the fabric.
“Thank you,” Diamond Tiara said, her voice barely audible as she looked at Golden Dust with a mix of gratitude and shame.
Filthy Rich carefully used the fabric to bandage Diamond Tiara’s injured eye. “There you go,” he said gently.
“I’ll help you, Silver Spoon,” Golden Dust said, walking over to the trembling filly and offering her hoof. Silver Spoon hesitated before taking it, her fear slowly giving way to trust.
“Silver Spoon, who are your parents?” Filthy Rich asked gently. “I’d like to speak with them and explain why you have a bandage.”
Silver Spoon hesitated, glancing nervously at Filthy Rich. “M-my parents are Derpy Hooves and Thunderlane,” she said softly.
"Knock, knock! 'Mail's here!' called Derpy Hooves cheerfully.
'Mom, you can come in,' Silver Spoon replied, glancing toward the door.
As Derpy stepped inside, she smiled warmly. 'You told Diamond Tiara, didn’t you?'
'Yes, I did,' said Silver Spoon with a small nod.
Suddenly, Silver Spoon’s horn glimmered as her magic activated. Her body shimmered with light, and in an instant, she transformed into a unicorn.
'Mom, I’m ready to be who I truly am,' Dew Muffins said softly, her voice filled with a mix of relief and quiet confidence.
Derpy's crossed eyes softened with understanding, a warm smile on her face. 'I’ve known for a long time, sweetheart. You’ve always been different.'
Dew Muffins smiled sheepishly. 'I know, Mom. It just... it felt like the right time to show it.'
As Dew Muffins stood there, now a unicorn with crossed eyes like her mother, the room filled with a quiet but powerful sense of acceptance. She no longer felt the need to hide who she truly was.
I'm sorry I lied to you Diamond Tiara said Dew Muffins.
Dew Muffins smiled gently and replied, 'It's okay, Diamond Tiara.'
With a warm smile, they embraced each other."
"I think you should join us for dinner," Filthy Rich said kindly.
"Thanks, Daddy!" Diamond Tiara hugged her dad.
Rarity started to wake up from the couch. "Why am I..." she mumbled before stopping when she saw everyone smiling. She decided to ask Golden Crown later.
Author's Note
I have some additional thoughts about Derpy. You know those random bags from the MLP characters? One looked like Derpy with a little lightning bolt on the side. I’m thinking she could be Firefly's child.
There are other theories suggesting she is Scootaloo, which I find interesting, but I prefer this idea. There’s even some toy evidence supporting it. I know this theory might sound silly, but it makes sense to me.
Perhaps Firefly's was a Wonderbolt and some substance affected her vision, leading to the appearance of derpy eyes.
