Tefnut sailed on a private oceanliner and had her sights set on Equestria. Her main goal was to see if the country was worth allying with. "You cabin boy!"
"Yes your highness."
"What's your name?"
"Anubis Ra ma'am" was the short reply.
"I see your parents gave you a name that will roughly translate in Equestria as 'Light of the After Life' anyways fetch me a pitcher of water and cup."
"Yes your majesty." Anubis Ra sprinted to follower his command.
Tefnut shrugged, "Nice lad I do suppose I should reward him; however, it's not common for my people to reward servants. Granted I'm not like the other rulers before me." Anubis Ra reappeared and bowing apologized fort taking his time returning.
"Tell me Anubis Ra, What do you know of the Equestria peoples?"
"All I know your highness is what I heard from a caravan. According to the traveller's tale, the people are kind and focus on friendship and the sort...he did meet two people over there who acted like they had a lover's quarrel. Their rulers I hear are kind and have much in the field of magical power."
"Thank, tell the captain that I gave you the rest of the day off." Anubis Ra bowed and obediently went to find the captain. Tefnut though a princess preferred to do things herself when feasible; however, her parents told her frequently that as royalty she needs to have the servants attend to her needs. She figured they were about to arrive at Kluegtown and from there she assumed she would acquire a plane ticket to fly to Canterlot to make herself known and from there find lodgings.
"Your highness, we are about to dock at Kluegtown, may we send your luggage to Canterlot ahead of you?"
"Yes Thoth, remember when we get to Equestria I will do things myself, and everyone aboard this boat and in my entourage are my equals. I know my parents will be annoyed but I try to keep my social status secret until I meet the nobility."
"Yes your highness, do you desire Anubis Ra to be your escort? He's about your age and it might help if people think you're traveling with a boyfriend. You know, since your entourage will be in Canterlot ahead of you."
"Actually I heard of an apple farm and I intend to stay there, I need Anubis Ra to go there ahead of me and let the people know of my intent. After that Anubis Ra will join me in Canterlot. Go and do as I bid you." Thoth nodded and hurried on his way. Tefnut knew she already stuck out so fewer people around her the better for blending in. The entourage went as they were ordered and Tefnut went to find food. Kluegtown was such a common place compared to her wealthy lifestyle but she knew if she were to ally her country with Equestria she mustn't turn her nose at it's people.
"Look mother a foreign dignitary!"
"Don't point and stare! It's very rude." Tefnut walked over to the mother and child and the mother was already on thee ground begging forgiveness for her child. Kneeling Down and lifting the woman up she smiled.
"No worries ma'am, where is a good tavern or inn here?"
"The inn run by Capper your highness, he's friends with our princesses and he will do what he can to make your stay comfortable."
"Thank you for your kindness." Tefnut and the woman parted ways everyone in her path cleared her route and some threw their coats over puddles of water so she'd stay dry. Tefnut paused by a stall and saw the prettiest necklace that she had to have - the necklace was turquoise and shaped like a jackal.
"Ma'am I'd like to purchase this item. How much is it?"
"In our currency it's thirty pieces of silver."
Tefnut took from her coin purse two gold coins because she saw above her head the matching earrings. "I'd also like to buy those matching earrings please."
"Ma'am...you've over paid, I'll get your change."
"No need, Similar to the Equestrian cutie marks signifying power or talents...mine happens to be for rainfall and moisture....and I somehow got paired with the ability to tell when someone is being honest or not."
"Thank you, enjoy your visit to our country."
"Before I go, can I take a selfie with you and your stall in the background?"
"A photographic journal I see. I'll do you one better someone will take the photo and we reinact your purchase." Tefnut loved the idea and she leapt at it. The city inhabitants knew that she had to be royalty, some said noble others guessed a princess due her skills in diplomacy and trade were top notch. The vendors saw a potential trade expansion and tried to show off their wares.
Tefnut found the inn and got greeted by Capper himself. "Welcome my dear to 'The Tempest Inn' and will you need a room for the night as well? Or shall I just present to you a meal?"
The people were awed that someone who looked as rich as her would come here and dine with commoners. "A meal for now, and tell me Capper, which airline is best for flying to Canterlot?"
"Well ma'am, for speed and cheapest seating it's Storm King Airways....for luxury it's the Diamond Dog Luxury Liners."
"How about the best airliner where once might make a few travel friends to learn about a new place?"
"I'd recommend Celestial Skyways - economical and very sociable way to travel." Tefnut nodded as she thought about which one to use.
"By the way might I get the House Fave?" Capper nodded and hurried off to get Tefnut's order prepared and cooked. Everyone stared at this exotic beauty decked with gold trimmings which were contrasted by her dark, glossy coat. Tefnut's food arrived and as she ate her clam chowder Capper offered a fine red wine or white wine, however, Tefnut asked for the usual ale that came with clam chowder. Tefnut figured that if she was to ally with the Equestrians, she might as well eat and drink like them as a sign of good intent.
The ale got to her system and Tefnut shouted to the musicians, "Play one of your sea chantys!" The small local band obliged and Tefnut since her family's home was by the sea, Tefnut had learned how to dance to some of the common sea chantys. One older stallion, who had the air of a sailor joined Tefnut who had started to do a sea chanty dance. Capper went off to someplace private and texted Twilight Sparkle and let her know that the nobility were safe in his care.
