The journey turned out to be quite difficult and tiring as the Equestrians thought it would be as they, along with Aladar and the herd, journey across the desert towards the nesting grounds.

In fact, it even started to get hot that Eema was panting while having the lemurs behind her head for shade away from the sun. Yona especially didn’t like the heat as she was walking underneath Baylene for extra shade while having Sandbar on her back.

Lightning was riding on Applejack’s back again with Flurry riding on her father’s back.

Aladar was panting before looking up.

Kron can tell they were moving too slow, not caring about the heat or how tired they all are, as he grunted before looking at Bruton and said, “We’re moving too slow.”

“I’ll pick up the pace.”

Bruton bellowed to tell everyone to pick up the pace as they moved to a little faster. The Equestrians wasn’t happy that they were told to move faster, especially Rainbow.

“Ugh! Anymore orders from them and I’m gonna own myself a dinosaur punching bag,” moaned Rainbow.

“I’m in on that,” said Applejack.

By the time nighttime came, they were still walking throughout the desert without stopping to rest for the night.

Yar was leaning over Eema’s head as he saw she was wandering off a bit from the head. Eema was panting before Yar said, “Hey, old girl, you’re wandering off a bit.”

Eema exhaled slowly before saying, “That’s all I need: a monkey on my back.” She then walked back to the herd.

“What I need is someone to carry me as I can’t go on any longer,” moaned Rarity.

“Oh give it a rest, Rarity,” said Shining crossly, “And keep it down, my daughter’s asleep.” Everyone can see Flurry was sleeping on Shining’s back with her head resting on his mane.

Throughout the journey, at night still, Aladar stopped and saw one of the dinosaurs have died. He panted while the two old dinosaurs panted. He then heard the raptors behind them as he saw three of them standing on top of the sand.m, trilling.

Aladar decided not to bother them and just leave the dead dinosaur there as there was nothing he can do about it. He continued on with the herd before the raptors came to enjoy their meal.

Morning came, and the herd was still walking on as the heat was getting hotter and hotter. It was so hot that Eema collapsed to the ground and groaned as she was ready to give up.

“On your feet, Eema,” said Aladar as he pushed Eema back up, “We can’t let those things eat you. They’re out there waiting.”

Back at where the raptors were, they already finished their meal as it was now just the skeleton of the dead dinosaur.

They suddenly saw something up ahead behind them as two of them shriek and ran off before the last one did the same.

The thing that scared them, or rather things, was two Carnotaurs. One was big, which means that’s a male, while the other one was small a bit to the big one’s height, which means that one’s a female.

They growling while following the footprints that was left in the sand by the herd. They were starving and hungry for meat. And the herd was their meal.

Kron came to a stop with Bruton being the next dinosaur to stop. They saw something up ahead. They thought it was the lake of water they’ve been heading towards that can help them survive long enough to reach the nesting grounds.

The two bellowed and snorted while approaching the lake, signalling the herd that they’ve finally reached the water.

All the dinosaurs vocalised as they followed Kron and Bruton. Eema couldn’t be more happy than she was before.

“The lake!” She said.

“We made it?” Yar asked.

“It’s just over that…that hill, baby,” said Eema.

“Oh, thank goodness,” said Baylene.

“Finally! Something to help us keep going!” Smolder said happily.

Aladar ran on ahead while saying, “Come on, Eema. Water. Remember water?”

“Oh, it’s time to refresh my memory.”

“And a nice swim to clean off the sweat!” Pipp said happily.

But as they reached the top, Kron saw that there was no lake or water. It was all just an empty bowl shape desert with dinosaur bones. Kron was in shock before approaching further.

Bruton and Neera saw that there was no water before the other dinosaurs, Aladar, the lemurs and the Equestrians saw there was no water there either.

“What?! No lake?! No water?! What gives?!” Gallus asked in anger.

“I’m just gonna walk right into that lake until the water’s up to my eyeballs and soak it all in,” panted Eema before seeing there was no water there as she sighed.

Pipp fainted as she was caught by Sunny before she could hit the ground.

“All of me life flashed before me eyes!” She said before looking disappointed, “It was really boring.”

Bruton stood next to Kron before saying, “Maybe the rains collected somewhere else.” He looked at Kron, “What do you want us to do?”

“Take a scout and check the entire perimeter,” said Kron.

Bruton snorted before heading off to take a scout to help him check the entire perimeter to see if there’s any water there.

Kron heard the baby Iguanodons whimpering and crying out as there wasn’t any water. This annoyed him as he said, “Enough! You have to be strong now.” He then called out to the herd, “The nesting grounds are only a few days away. Keep moving!” Kron headed off as the herd lowly scattered.

Neera caught up to her brother and said, “Kron, we’ve never gone this long without water. If we keep going like this, we’ll lose half the herd.”

“Then we save the half that deserves to live,” he said before growling, showing that he doesn’t care that much about some of the herd.

Kron bellowed telling the herd to move on. Neera wasn’t happy by what Kron just said, but she continued to follow him as he was her brother after all.

“Uh, guys?” Ocellus said as they all saw the herd moving again. Baylene saw them moving as well. “What? They’re moving already? Oh-Ho, we’ll never keep up.”

“Couldn’t agree more,” said Sunburst.

“There was water here, always water here before,” said Eema while walking into the empty area. Aladar approached Eema with the lemurs following him.

“Guys, we should go help her. She’s not taking it well,” said Sunny. They all agreed before Shining said, “You lot go to her. I’m gonna go and see if Bruton has found any water and see if he needs help.”

“Go careful, Shiny. There’s no telling what can be out there or what he’s like without Kron,” said Twilight.

“Will do, Twily. Come on, Flurry. I might need your help, too.”

“Um…okay,” she said nervously before following her father. But secretly, he wanted to see why his daughter was so quiet the entire journey as he noticed she didn’t even say anything since yesterday morning.

“We always had water, always.” Eema started to collapse to the ground again as Aladar stood by her, “And…And plenty of mud.” She started to cry. Baylene slowly approached Eema while saying, “Oh, Eema, please. The herd won’t wait. We must carry on.”

Eema gasped while Aladar tried pushing her back up as he said, “You gotta get up.” No one noticed that Baylene was so big that she made big footprints in the ground. “There was water everywhere,” winced Eema. “There is no water, dear,” said Baylene.

Baylene continued to make huge cracks in the ground, without noticing, as Aladar grunted before hearing cracking noises in the ground. He turned to Baylene and saw the big footprints in the ground. This surprised him as Zini saw the cracks as well.

“Baylene, don’t move,” said Aladar before approaching her with Oliver and Amore following him.

“Oh, what is it? What’s wrong?”

Aladar didn’t answer. Instead, he looked at the cracks and heard something from them. Zini heard it as well.

“Do you hear that?” Zini asked.

“I sure do. Lift your foot, Baylene.” Baylene lifted her foot as Aladar, Oliver, Amore and Zini started to dig the hole till it was lower and lighter enough while the lemurs and the rest of the Equestrians took care of the upset Eema.

Once it was enough, Aladar said, “Now press down.” Baylene pressed her foot down into the ground as water suddenly appeared.

Zini whooped before saying, “I always did like big girls!”

“Do you see that?!” Amore asked in amazed.

“Yeah!”

“Water!”

“Oh, my goodness!” Baylene said in amazed.

Aladar bellowed, getting the herd’s attention, including Kron and Neera. “Water! Come on!” He called.

“He found water,” said Neera in amazed.

Aladar and the two ponies dug the hole up a bit bigger for more water to come out as Eema, the Equestrians and the lemurs came over.

“That’s it, Eema. Come drink,” said Baylene as the dinosaurs started to drink some of the water while the Equestrians took turns off splashing some water in their faces to cool off.

“Oh, that’s so much better!” Zipp said happily.

“I feel like a new me!” Lightning cheered.

The baby Iguanodons cooed before running down to get some water. But Kron ran past them. Aladar saw Kron coming towards them.

“Kron, look. All we had to do is dig, and…” Kron interrupted Aladar by saying, “Good. Now, get out of the way.” He then roared at the old dinosaurs, making them back away from the water. The Equestrians did the same as Lightning got scared and hid behind the orange dragon.

Kron started to drink some water as Aladar heard and saw the rest of the herd charging towards the water.

“Wait! Wait! There’s enough for everyone!” But they didn’t listen as they ran past Aladar and bumped past him. “Ah!”

“Look out!” Twilight said as the Equestrians tried to stay out of the herd’s crowding and fighting for the water while the lemurs climbed onto Baylene’s neck.

They were pushing each other out of the way and drinking as much water as they can. The crowd was getting worst as Eema was struggling to get through them all as they made her fall over and the Equestrians got separated from one another.

“Eema!” Aladar called as he ran towards her.

“Momma!”

“Braveheart! I’m coming, hang on!” Smolder called while trying to find her boyfriend.

Neera started out of the area as she watched the herd fighting with his brother over one hole of water. She then saw Aladar helping Eema as they pushed past through the herd of dinosaurs.

“That’s it. Keep pushing and shoving. That’s very helpful.”

“Not sure that’s even helping,” said Silverstream as she flew up above the herd with Lightning on her back.

Neera turned back to Kron who was roaring at the herd while still trying to drink as much water as he can drink. From what she saw from Aladar, he was like the opposite of Kron as he was mean and doesn’t care about helping the herd.

It was now starting to be dawn as Shining and Flurry continued on trying to find Bruton and see if they’ve found any water.

Flurry still remained quiet throughout the journey. She couldn’t stop hearing Kron’s harsh words he said to her yesterday morning after accidentally bumping into him. She was also worried how her father would react when she does tell him.

Shining was starting to feel worried about her daughter. He hasn’t seen her this quiet since the day he shouted at her at the Tree of Life.

When they jumped onto a mini rocky mountain, with pathways below it, Shining looked at Flurry and asked, “Flurry, are you doing okay?”

“Huh? Uh, y-yes, Daddy. I’m doing okay,” said Flurry nervously, trying to hide her sadness. But Shining wasn’t buying it. He gently rubbed the filly’s mane and softly said, “Come on, sweetheart. You can tell me what’s wrong. I won’t get mad.”

Flurry let out a sigh. She knew she couldn’t hide it from her father any longer, so she decided to just tell him.

“It all started yesterday morning.”

“Was it because of the early wake up?”

“No. I accidentally bumped into Kron when I was coming to you.”

“Did you say sorry to him?”

“Yes. But he didn’t see that I was. He just glared at me, told me to watch where I was going, and…”

“And what?” Shining asked, trying to remain calm as to what he was gonna hear next.

Tears started to form in Flurry’s eyes as she said, “He called me…a freak.”

“WHAT?!” Shining shouted in shock and anger. He could not believe a nasty dinosaur, like Kron, would called his daughter something like that. Shining started to calm down as he saw Flurry was almost close to crying. “Oh Flurry, why didn’t you tell me?”

“I…I-I just didn’t want you to get more annoyed as we can’t return home till we reached the end of this film. And the journey was making us all hot and annoyed,” answered Flurry as tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.

“Well, the heat was making me bad tempered, not gonna lie,” said Shining before pulling the poor filly into a hug, “Flurry, I’m not mad at you for what I’m about to say to you. You can always tell me if something’s bothering you or something has happened. I know you were just doing what you thought was right. We all bottle up our feelings in case the heat or something is making us angry to which we don’t need anything else to make our days even worse. But next time someone calls you something that you’re not, you can tell me, even if I am in a bad mood, okay?”

Flurry slowly smiled at her father while tears were still rolling down her face. Shining gently brushed the tears away with his hoof as Flurry said, “Thanks, Dad.”

“You’re welcome, sweetheart.”

After a few minutes, they broke the hug before Flurry suddenly saw Bruton and another dinosaur with him walking down on the path.

“Dad, I can see Bruton,” she said quietly while pointing where he was at. Shining saw him as he smiled at his daughter while quietly saying, “Flurry, way a go.”

Flurry smiled before the two looked down to see where Bruton and the dinosaur was going while making sure not to be seen.

“Bruton, we’ve been walking in circles. There’s no water here. I think we should get back.”

“Shh. Keep it down.”

“Don’t think they had any luck finding any water,” said Flurry.

“No, doesn’t look like it,” said Shining.

As the two dinosaurs continued on, none of them heard a hiss coming from a Carnotaur who saw them walking by as it went the other side so it can take them by surprise.

Flurry saw the Carnotaur and got scared and nervous as she said, “Uh, Dad?” Shining turned and gasped as he saw the Carnotaur too. “Oh, that’s not gonna be good.”

“What do we do?”

“Remain here. We can’t warn them or even try to stop that thing. That monster looks too dangerous to even fight with, and going to Bruton may cause some damages as to what may be happening next.”

“Okay.” Flurry stood next to her father.

Bruton stopped before sniffing something. He can tell something wasn’t right. But he continued on with the scout without knowing a Carnotaur was right behind them growling.

“Let’s get out of here.”

Suddenly, the scout gasped as he was being pulled by a Carnotaur as it dragged him by his tail away from Bruton. Flurry got really scared and hid her face in her father’s chest as he hugged her tightly so she couldn’t see the kill scene.

Bruton watched in horror before seeing anothee Carnotaur appear next to him. He tried to make a break for it as the Carnotaur chased him while the other one ate the scout.

“They’re g-gonna e-eat us when they f-find us!” Flurry said in fear.

“You’re right, honey. There’s no telling when they might show up next or when they’ll find us. We better inform your mother and aunt.”

“But what about Bruton?”

“We’ll come back for him when we tell the others and try to get some backup,” said Shining as he placed his daughter on his back and quickly ran back to the others.

Bruton saw there was no other choice, but to fight his way out. He charged towards the Carnotaur as it roared and approach to attack the brown Iguanodon.
